It’s Fashion Friday! How do you pivot when you need to make a hard decision? What do you do when you need to make a change? You pivot. I had that moment and I had to make a decision to either stay where I am or change and move forward. This post is all about me changing my online career. If you didn’t know I have struggled in the past with change. But even now as I write this I have to say that I’m proud of myself. I stayed in the moment long enough to validate my feelings but then made the choice to pivot. I decided I want more and I know that I have to change some things to get those major results. So today I am encouraging you to feel yours feelings, and then make choices that moves you forward. Even if its uncomfortable.

It’s First Monday Y’all! I don’t know about you guys, but the first month of the year flew by for me! I wanted to share where you can get some mouth watering fondue in the Coastal Virginia area. The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant offering heated pots of cheese, chocolate or broth for dipping and cooking. I recently recorded my first Podcast “Clutched My Pearls with The Dakota Somerville, and we decided to record at the Melting Pot. From the “Spinach Artichoke Cheese”, “Mojo Caribbean Broth”, to the” Flaming Turtle Chocolate” we could barely speak from being so full. But it turned out amazing and now I am a Co-Host Pod-caster.

Style Tip: I wore a gray duster shacket, cream turtle neck, cream flare jeans, gray booties and gray oversized hat. I was having a bad hair day, so the hat saved the day. I needed to be warm but not too warm because I would be doing a lot of moving around. You can easily swap out the cream flare jeans for gray jeans for a more tonal look.

I had the pleasure of attending a Natural Hair, Barber & Lifestyle Expo presented by” Fruits of the Spirit Salon’. I was invited by Salina Davis the owner of “Urban Sophie”. Hey Ya`ll Its Fashion Friday! I hope you are enjoying all this winter weather. I must admit I don’t love the cold but I do love layering all my winter looks. I decided to go out and see the “scene”. D”Art Center in Norfolk Virginia had their opening art gallery night. The new exhibit was all about the scene. It was a juried national exhibition of artworks inspired by the cites, towns, landscapes and places. It was incredible to experience the original art works and at the same time be transported into different scenes. If you are needing to beat the winter blue and are in the Coastal Virginia area check the museum out.

Style tip: I decided to wear a paisley print suit, layered with a cream knit long sleeve top and fur scarf. It’s a great way to look chic but not have to wear a coat since I knew I would be inside. You could easily mix in a stripe top and sneakers for another take on the look.

Hey Y’all! Are you staying warm this winter season? Do you need a cozy place to enjoy dinner, drinks and the perfect atmosphere? Then, Food For Thought is the place for you. You guys you won’t be disappointed. This winter I visited and had a double date with my In-Laws. We all tried four different decadent dishes. From ribs, to meatloaf, shrimp and grits and finally a season favorite squash chicken. We also indulged in warm festive cocktails, like “Hot Butter Apple Cider and a “Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey. I enjoyed myself so much that I plan on going again. So there will be a part two.

Style Tip: It was Christmas time went I went so, I wanted to be festive but not overly. So I chose a army green (instead of the traditional green) body con dress, matching beret, tweed blazer and gold boots. I felt festive but on my own terms. The great thing about all the pieces is that they can be worn when it’s not the holidays.

Happy Friday Y’al!! I don’t know where you are all located but the in the Coastal Virginia area it has been freezing! If you didn’t know I don't like the cold weather. So I had the opportunity to visit Eight Shires Coloniale Distillery because of my sister @Gina. A special bonus is that the owners gave us special tour and tasting of all the goodies at the distillery. So you get to, get out of the cold weather, and enjoy nibbles, spirits and history. Its definitely worth the trip. There mission: to research, preserve, teach, and present the history of distillation.

Style Tip: I wore a baby blue overcoat, blue leather pants, black turtleneck, black hat, and black boots. I chose a colored coat to give the look a cooler feel to it. Don’t be afraid to wear different tones of one color with a neutral.

Happy New Year’s Eve! As we close the year I wanted to reflect on one of my favorite traditions of the year, Christmas Eve. Ever since I was born', my family has gotten together on Christmas Eve. My whole family would bring all our gifts to my Mema`s house, gather in our church van, and go look at Christmas lights. Then we would sing, dance and laugh 'til Midnight. We then sang happy birthday to Jesus and afterwards open all our presents. I’m super grateful for my family and our traditions. With the new year I want to continue the old traditions and I would love to start new traditions. One thing I have always wanted to do is do a family Christmas card. Funny enough we still didn’t get to the Christmas card this year. So maybe we will try for a new year card every year.

Happy Christmas Eve! I hope you are enjoying December so far. I just wanted to share some more of the mini getaway to Puerto Rico. I highly recommend you go there! Another tip, is share your meals if you can. This way you can save money and be able to try different things. We broke the trip up over four days. Y`all we ate so much food over the four days we were there. The tastings included the following in no particular order: Lobster Mofongo, Chicken Mofongo, Rice and Beans, Coffee con Leche, Pinchos, and Guava and Queso Pastileto.

It`s Fashion Friday Y’all! As we approach the last days of Fall, I wanted to share my last little excursion on my mini getaway. Mini getaways are an inexpensive way to try new things and experiences. As I mentioned in an earlier post “Fall Getaways That Don’t Break The Bank.” we were able to visit Saude Creek Vineyards. The Vineyard is located in New Kent County near Williamsburg, VA. Saude Creek sits on 100 acres on a high hillside overlooking the Pamunkey River. We enjoyed the stone fired tasting room then headed out to enjoy the many patios and rolling landscape of the vineyard. You can even order a mini charcuterie to pair with a your wine. This is such an affordable and relaxing time. Wineries have become a new favorite past time of mine. I love a great atmosphere and great deal. Check them out and tell them Tori from TJJ sent you.

Style Tip: I wore a black blazer, knee shorts and a crop top tank and black chunky boots. I like basic pieces because they can all be interchanged. At the winery it was chilly so having the blazer added a chic layer without being to bulky.

Fashion Friday Y`all! As fall is coming to a close, I wanted to highlight a few more wineries from the girls weekend to the Massanutten area. If you missed it, check out Part 1 and get some simple tips and learn about two other cool wineries in the area. The last few wineries are Well Hung Vineyard, Horton Cellars and Barboursville Vineyards. Well Hung Vineyards was our first stop. We enjoyed an assortment of food and drink from wine flights to mussels cooked in garlic sauce to margherita and chicken gluten free flat breads pizzas. The second winery was Horton Cellars. This is the opening shot for this post. Just breathtaking, and the blackberry wine is a must taste. The last winery of that day was Barboursville Vineyards. There are levels to the experience there. You can choose from the library, the tasting room or an elegant wine paired fine dining experience. We chose the tasting room where its wine on tap. Then you can enjoy the vineyards and just relax. It was the perfect girls getaway.

Style Tip: I chose a maxi trench coat , leather sheath dress, black tights, black hat and black boots. I chose these pieces for comfort and I wanted to be warm but not too warm. The trench coat is a great transitional piece.

Happy First Monday! Today I’m celebrating 28 years of dating my husband! We started dating in 1993 and I’m blessed to say we are still dating! So what do you do after 28 years of dating? Take a mini getaway to a nearby city. We chose to book a time share in Williamsburg, Virginia. Which is less than a hour away. One of our dates was at this cute Spanish restaurant called La Tienda, The Best of Spain. La Tienda has Traditional Spanish bites. We enjoyed fresh baked breads, olives, calamari, gambas al ajilo, to patatas bravas. The ambiance is like being in Spain. There’s a small market inside along with old wooden tables, wine cellars, with walls of wine all available to purchase. This s a definite must try. Check them out at 1325 Jamestown Rd, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185

Style Tip: Pickup a Black Blazer from the a second hand store and cut it off to make a crop blazer for the fraction of the cost.

Happy Fashion Friday! I hope you are enjoying December so far. I just wanted to share some more of the mini getaway to Puerto Rico. I highly recommend you go there! Another tip, is to try Frontier Airlines for inexpensive round trip tickets. Day three was in San Juan. San Juan could be its on blog. We started with a french Puerto Rican breakfast, to visiting two incredible forts called Castillo San Cristobal and Castillo San Felipe del Morro and then on to the night life. From the top of the forts you could see thousands of miles of breath taking water. Day four ended on a turquoise colored water beach breakfast, to a mixology class at the head quarters of Bacardi. Some other highlights and things to visit while in Puerto Rico are that every town has a “city square”, where there are streets vendors, shops, churches, and government buildings. I love that at night everyone gathers there to dance and eat!! I even got a dance lesson from a local right there in the square. If you are a art lover there is an Art District to check out as well. Hey Ya`ll! I’m happy to report on part two of the Puerto Rico Trip. I like to see new things but stay within a budget. Tip one: is to book an Air B and B, its sometimes cheaper than a hotel. Tip two: find out what free things are available where you are visiting. Tip three: if you can, see if there are any military, student, or teacher discounts. We explored the island in several phases. We broke the trip up over four days. Two highlights from day one was Sandra Coffee Farms and doing a night swim in the Bio Bay. Day Two was about the beaches, more city squares, and dancing. Ya`ll already know I’m a water baby! These beaches were incredible. The water was like a luxurious salted bath of ombre blues.

Some other highlights and things to visit while in Puerto Rico are that every town has a “square”, where there are streets vendors, shops, churches, and government buildings. I love that at night everyone gathers there to dance and eat!! I even got a dance lesson from a local right in the square. If you are an art lover there is an Art District to check out as well. It’s Fashion Friday! I’m so excited to share my couples Puerto Rico trip with you all. There was only problem I could only bring one bag. Our trip was Wednesday through Sunday. I has to dress warm for the plane because it was 50 degrees at home but then we had to be ready for 80 degree weather once we landed in Puerto Rico. The warmer weather actually made it easier to pack light. So take that into consideration when there are bag restrictions. We explored the Island in several phases. We did the mountain life, farm life, city life, night life, beach life, boat life, and food life. We explored so much that I will do many posts about the trip. It`s Fashion Friday Y’all! This is the time of the year that the weather is changing and we are craving maybe something new. Right now in my life I am deciding to take mini getaways. Mini getaways are an inexpensive way to try new things and experiences. As I mentioned in a earlier post “Fall Getaways That Don’t Break The Bank”. One place we visited on our getaway was Tipsy Beans. Tipsy Beans Cafe offers premium coffees, teas and a full bar. The cafe is a total vibe. From the massive bar, to chalk board walls with curated coffee affirmations to menu items like acai bowls, parmesan garlic fries and sweet and sour brisket tacos. Lastly, the best part was our gourmet coffees. We tried the the Peanut Butter Puddle and The Chai Tea with Oat Milk. This is a definitely a spot to try if you are ever in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. Tell them Tori TJJ sent you.

Fashion Friday! It’s all about the Fall Getaways! Mini getaways are fun, fast, and affordable! You can easily try new experiences, celebrate a girlfriend and do it on a budget. Ways to save are by splitting the cost, carpooling, time shares and Air B and B. This mini getaway was all about the mountains and celebrating my girl Estella! The girls and I did a weekend at Massutten Resort and a wine tour in the Wine Country area of Virginia. We were able to visit five wineries. I want to highlight two of the wineries in this post. The two wineries are Stone Mountain Vineyards and Glass House Winery. These wineries were both amazingly beautiful and different. Stone Mountain was voted one of the best views in Virginia. The Glass House Winery was like experiencing the rain-forest but totally inside. There was glass, lights, fire, and foliage everywhere. Stone Mountain was cozy, had wood fire sitting areas, and views for days. It felt like a hallmark movie. Oh and the wine was good too! Even if you are not a wine drinker the views and the atmosphere where magical. If ever in the area, check out: Stone Mountain Vineyards and Glass House Winery. Tell them Tori from TJJ sent you!!

Style Tip: I decide to wear a quilted jacket/coat, fuzzy turtleneck, leather leggings, rain boots and wool beret because I was trying to be comfortable, warm and keep my hair from getting wet.

It’s First Monday! I’m falling for this time of the year. I have been able to go on some mini Fall Getaways and I wanted to share! If you don’t know I love a good deal and not spending a lot of money but having a good time. One way I was able to that was to go to a beautiful park in Williamsburg, Virginia called Waller Mill Park. Waller Mill Park has breathing taking views along a gorgeous lake. You can fish, picnic, corn hole, hike the massive trails, and even rent a boat on site. We decided to hike that day and share gourmet coffees. It’s $2 to park and our coffees were $10 ( I said gourmet coffee). But you can’t beat a $12 date. Check out Waller Mill Park if you are ever in the Williamsburg, Virginia area.

P. S. Will share where to get those gourmet coffees soon!!!!!

Style Tip: I decide to wear an oversized denim jacket , gray sweats, black sports bra, black birkenstocks, ray ban sunglasses, and my husband’s straw hat. I wanted to be comfortable but still show a little skin for my hubby. You can easily swop out the sports bra for a tank for a more modest look.

Style Tip: I decided to wear a leopard jumpsuit because it was easy to just throw on. I layered it with a bold black beaded necklace to hide my chest area that I didn’t want to over expose. I can easily add a blazer, hat and no necklace for a different take on the jumpsuit.
