Cody Simpson is the latest fresh faced teen to hit the pop scene.

This 14 year-old Australian sensation started out posting videos of himself singing and playing cover songs from popular artists, alongside some of his own original creations.

Cody Simpson was discovered on YouTube and flown out to Los Angeles to discover his musical potential.

FREE ESL English Conversation Class - Monday, January 24, 2011 in Toronto Canada

Every Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 PM there are free "ESL" English as a second language lessons and classes.

The free English conversation classes are offered at the Saint Paul's Anglican Church located at 227 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

St. Paul's is located about 200 meters east of the Yonge and Bloor Street intersection on the south side of Bloor Street.

If traveling by subway you can exit at Yonge and Bloor - then walk east on the south side for about 2 minutes.

To enter use the big glass doors between the main church and the Reception Hall and follow the sign "ESL Cafe" to the right.

St Paul's provides the location as a public service to the community and provides tea and coffee which usually goes well with cookies. Last week David brought my favourite maple sugar cookies and you are welcome to bring your favourite cookies.

The ESL English instruction is provided by volunteers. The volunteers have patience, enthusiasm, good-will towards all and some even have ESL teacher certification.

The ESL English conversation classes are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced language skill levels.

Conversation topics include current events, vacations, where to get stuff cheap, some politics, funny things about Canada, job training.

The FREE ESL English conversation classes have operated at St Paul's for over two years now and have helped adults, newcomers to Canada and students from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Cameroon, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Italy, France, Spain, Ivory Coast and many other countries. You can meet new friends from around the world.

Are you a NEWCOMER* TO CANADA

Do you want to grow as an artist?

Do you want to create a theatre performance and learn leadership skills?

Do you want to be part of a network of young women artists from across Toronto and around the world?

Then we want YOU to be part of THEATRE REVOLVE!

What is Theatre Revolve?

Theatre Revolve is a program that empowers young women through the creation of live theatre, artistic training, mentorship and leadership development. In past sessions, Theatre Revolve has created new plays, short films, installations, zines, websites, and hosted international artists in special training intensives.

PROJECT DATES:

December 2008 - March 1, 2009

March 2 - 8, 2009 Rehearsals and Performances at Factory Theatre

Participants join one group, and meet once a week. Under 21 groups meet on Tuesdays (Bathurst/Lawrence) or Thursdays (Parkdale) and the Under 24 group meets on Saturdays (Dundas/Ossington). Please see below for a detailed list of session dates. Participants will develop a collaborative theatre piece to be performed at the Factory Theatre the week of March 2 - 8, 2009.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL SESSIONS LISTED FOR THEIR PROGRAM GROUP.

What it costs: Nothing – it's FREE!!! AND we offer TTC tickets and snacks. This FREE program is funded by the Funded by the Government of Canada through Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Theatre Ontario, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

Do I have to be an artist? or a writer? or have any prior experience?

NO! We are looking for young women with something to say, but more importantly the desire to work with other young women to learn and create. No prior artistic experience is necessary.

Real Elite Basketball League - REBL is Looking for players around the GTA to join Toronto's newest basketball League.

Join the REBL players list in order to be contacted for an opportunity to join one of our teams. We recruit players individually!! If you have a team then let us know.

REBL is a new men's basketball league. We will give basketball players an opportunity to play at an elite level and showcase their talents. REBL offers the best of everything; a professional basketball court, the best players available and qualified officials who create a fun competitive environment. As an elite team, 14K GOLD RINGS are awarded for a consecutive playoff championship win.

We select every player and we build all teams. We do our best to ensure that each team has at least 2 qualified players for every position. We recognize each player individually and document their statistics at courtside and post them online.

As the game of basketball continues to prosper, REBL is determined to grow with its players and offer new opportunities. Each season competition increases as players use our anonymous voting out system and replace voted out player(s) with a draft pick. The Canadian National Exhibition

The world class performers and spectacular air shows are the really big draws every year at the Canadian National Exhibition. Everyone in Toronto knows when the Canadian International Air Show is on at the "Ex" as the loud, fast and spectacular jets dance over the Toronto sky.

The "CNE or Ex" is a wonderful field trip for international students to learn English and see products, cultural exhibits, foods, performers and people from across Canada and every other country in the world. Every new item triggers questions and learning opportunities as students expand their vocabulary and language fluency.

Every year the CNE features a nice combination of regular performers along with new acts, performers and shows. It is comfortable to see familiar performers do new tricks to excite and wow the crowds.

There are many smaller venue stages all over the Exhibition grounds to see performers. Toronto Star Bandshell, Global Food Building Stage, The Green Thumb Garden Theatre, Rogers International Stage, Kids’ World Feature Stage, Labatt Blue Midway Stage, Remember When Pavilion, Renovation Stage, Rock Valley Café, A Taste of the World Gourmet Theatre and TTC Stage.

The TTC Stage hosts the TTC Busker Auditions to hundreds of hopefuls that come to the CNE and audition for their chance to entertain you on the TTC.

International students recognize foods, clothes, gift items, collectable's from their countries and have the opportunity to explain in English what they are, their cultural or historical significance to other international students that have never seen them before. In many ways it is like traveling to the most exotic global markets without having to pay airfare.

The best prices for for shopping can occur at the CNE as many outlet shops, importers and clearance jobbers sell products at huge discounts. Students like to buy dictionaries for one dollar, or learn English CD sets for 3 dollars instead of the regular list price of thirty dollars. I like to buy books, software, music cd's, vhs tapes, dvd's and other resource materials for my classes at a 75 to 90 percent discount and so do the students.

The CNE exhibits are everywhere and have something for everyone. Some students love the gardens, gardening, and landscaping. Some students love the agricultural exhibits with all the food products, farm animals, farm equipment and the horse shows.

Other students play at the sports pavilion to test their abilities with new sports challenges. Some like to see arts and crafts and art displays others like to participate in the "how to" demonstrations and create their own art piece. Some students just like to play the latest sega video games or sony games "be" pc gamers or x box pros and play on the newest equipment or game platform.

The CNE starts in Mid-August and the final day of the CNE is Labour Day.
