I changed my UK license to a Spanish one last year. I did this through my Gestoria.I had to have an eye sight test and the doctor also did a couple of other tests to check my sight and co ordination. I did this at the German/Spanish clinic opposite Cajamar bank on the costa.Give them a ring first though as these tests are only done on certain days and times.

As I understand it by someone who has been stopped and find €200 for not being in order is : If you are a resident and driving on a UK license you must have a medical every 2 years.

are all on Sunday. Sunday is the Six Nations match of France –v- England, if

This Friday, 9th March Alan and Hilary are here with their popular karaoke
night at los Amigos. Words are up on the big screen so that everyone has
the opportunity to join in with whoever takes the mike. We have some
brilliant regular singers and always enjoy welcoming new singers to Los
Amigos. Alan has a huge range of songs on his karaoke system, so chances
are he's got the right songs for you!

On Saturday, 10th March Robin is back at 9 pm, following January's hugely
successful Northern Soul Night, with music from Tamla Motown to Wigan
Casino! For anyone who's not sure what it is, Northern Soul is a music and
dance movement that emerged from the British mod scene, initially in
northern England in the late 1960s, and is based on the heavy beat and fast
tempo of the mid-1960s Tamla Motown sound, often by lesser-known artists.
The music is superb and we all enjoyed both the Motown classics and the
artists and tracks we hadn't come across before. The last Northern Soul
Night was brilliant, with the right music to get us up dancing, so we're all
looking forward to this one!

Can anyone recommend any specialist clinics for ongoing advice for diet and
care of diabetes? My husband is in the Spanish health system and his doctor
diagnosed him 2 years ago but since then he has had very little advice or
information as to help his health. I would be happy to pay for some expert
in this field. Could anyone recommend a clinic specialising in diabetes?
Also, if anyone has any knowledge as to what can be expected from the
health system pertaining to type 2 diabetes it would be useful - very often
with doctors if you don't ask the right questions you don't get any answers
or any help! Somebody else's experiences might point us in the right
direction.

Beach umbrella and driving licence query

Does anybody know where you can get the beach umbrellas re-covered? You know
the type you see with the rush-matting on the beaches. I heard that there is
an old boy who does them in Burriana - we grabbed a couple years ago as they
were sat on the landfill site waiting to be buried and now want to get one
re-done.

Secondly, I was stopped by the police in the small hours a few weeks back.
All was in order except he said something rather too quickly about new rules
regarding UK/European driving licences and the fact that all such holders
need to be inline with the Spanish and have medicals/eyesight tests every
two years. Can anybody confirm this and if it is true, advise the where and
how? (and how it is noted thereafter on paperwork??) If anybody has the
answers to either of these questions (particularly the 2nd as it may be
useful for all to know) can they click on the subtitle of this enquiry and

I have 3 Strimmer Head and Line sets which are suitable for any Petrol
Strimmer with a straight shaft. The head is easy to fit, unscrew the current
attachment and put the head on the shaft. The reel of line has 4 cutting
edges which makes it very efficient to use. It even goes through brambles
and lasts a very long time. Just cut a length of line and loop it into the

Security changes @ Malaga Airport

Just to let you know...extra time may now be required whilst checking in at
the airport.

A new security check point has been introduced within the last couple of
weeks. It´s similar to our UK airports. However, they don´t have a
continuous belt system for the crates that hold your belongings. You may
find yourself having to hold the crates and pull your cabin suitcase for
some time, as I did on Thursday. Although, the staff may have just been over
zealous due to the fact that it is a new system. I had to remove my shoes,
belt, earrings, bracelet, rings, jacket and laptop! There was no time left
for shopping before the flight was called even though I arrived 2 hours
prior to departure.

moved and have opened their new bar on Penoncillo Beach, Torrox Costa. It's

Last weekend was so very nearly a weekend for the welsh, beating England at
Twickenham, whatever side you were on,. it was glorious to watch and then
Cardiff City took Liverpool to penalty shootout.

Anyway my prediction for the France –v- Ireland match on Sunday, have to go
with France, especially on home territory, yes I know Ireland had a famous
victory there (I was there watching it!), but I don't think that will be a
repeat this year.

Remember, even if you don't want the Sport, we always have our Beer and Tapa

black cat found dead--Merlin available for adoption

was found dead, killed by a neighbour´s dog. Merlin, a black adult Siamese 3

The band play a mixture of Rockabilly,Country Rock and Blues.The band are also offering an open mike for any singers/musicians that would like to join in.

Axarquia Racing Club is on the main Torrox to Torrox Costa road just up from the Blue Elephant Car Wash. Great venue in a sunny location with easy parking on the opposite side of the road. BBQ food available at very reasonable prices. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Lost animals

I "lost" my dog in the campo on Dia de Andalucia. After a sleepless night I
went out with notices and pasted one on the local basura, as well as all the
Pet Shops, Oficina de Correos, TAILS and the refuge by the Blue Elephant,
Veterinary clinics, the Guardia Civil and Los Llanos. Happily Kerry and I
have been reunited so I would like to thank all the people and places who so
happily and readily helped with putting up posters etc. Everyone was so
concerned and kind, so when we think we live in a rotten world .... we
don't.

The basura seemed to be the most successful as everyone has to dump their
rubbish at some time.

Reply to 'Just a Thought' - I, too, have had trouble contacting people directly through their email on Digame. I tried three times to contact a 'Mathew' but it was always returned - he was looking for a monitor - too bad because I gave up and sold it on, as well as contacting others for their items for sale, so missed out on some 'goodies'; and could use more exact info on places to go or restaurants, such as street names in what town. Thanks.

lost black cat - maybe found

Kate Morris tells me someone lost a black cat. Two weeks ago, a black
Siamese male cat, fully domesticated and neutered, showed up and joined my
domestic colony of 11 cats.

I understand that Digame has a notice seeking perhaps this very cat. He is
doing well and become the alpha male. I call him "Merlin."

Anyway, please call Stefan van Drake at 951 067 703 to make an appointment
to see the cat. He´s a happy camper, but he should--if indeed he is the
subject cat--be returned to his-her owner.

If you want something special, we can highly recommend Castillo del Marques
(Escuela de Hostelería) on N340 at Valle-Niza near Benajarafe. It's a
catering college and is actually one of the XVII century strong forts - very
historical. The restaurant is open Thursdays only from 14.30, you must book
and the cost is 33 euros for all food, bread and wine/water but coffee is
extra. Fabulous food and lovely young students serving. Mr. D and I were in
a party of 13 and we hired a mini bus from torrox Costa so we could all
drink. Call 951 289 839 (Spanish only spoken), to reserve or check the
website www.castillodelmarques.com No choice of food so prepare to be
adventurous.

We also had a great menu del dia lunch at Mesón Casa de Palma between El
Morche and Torrox Costa on N340. 8 euros included drink, salad, 3 courses
and bread in a lovely little courtyard at the back. Good size interior
seating or front terrace on the road.

Torrox Animal International League - TAIL - have 2 Labs for rehoming - one Golden, one Black (poss X). They are about 2 years old, male. The Black one is undernourished & needs some TLC but they are both lovely, friendly dogs. A foster home would also be considered.

We also have Coco a chocolate brown hound, a little nervous so needs her confidence building up. She was rescued along with Chanel a brown & white Spaniel type who is very friendly. Again foster homes considered.

May I say something to one and all, when one advertises their bar or a place
is recommended could they not put where the property is located, not all of
us are aware of the numerous bars etc are to be found.

The person that was recently burgled, it would be useful for one to know the
area where the incident took place

contacted the said company to camcel my insurance as I still had 7 months to
run thought I would get a refund only to be told only if the perdson who

doesn't mean don't use any.

Please write your ad using an ordinary mix of capital and lower-case letters
just as you would if you were writing a letter to someone.

Quite a few ads have been coming in with no capitals at all, so apologies to
readers who are finding them a bit odd, but I don't have time to correct

Just in case anyone doesn't understand – email addresses in the adverts are written as someone at example dot com you are supposed to convert this to someone@example.com

so replace "at" by @ and "dot" by a full stop then the email address will work.

The reason for doing this is to avoid email addresses being picked up by robots and used to send spam.

Hope you find this useful and apologies to anyone who is thinking that this is stating the obvious (apparently it isn't).

Bridge Club at Caribe

Unfortunately due to lack of time, I was unable to organise it properly and
so it died on the vine. However I know there is a need for a place to play
Bridge. If anyone reading this will take on the task of organising it, we
would be delighted to provide the venue. Unfortunately though that is all we
can do as pressures of running the business prevent us from taking an active
part although we are both keen players. We will assist as much as we can,
but it has to be run by someone else.
