If you are looking for a two wheeled vehicle, you should try to buy bicycles and motorbikes on Gumtree. Gumtree is an online classifieds advertisement website that offers many advertisements for a range of different products and services.

You can browse countless advertisements for brand new and second hand bicycles and motorbikes of all different types, models, makes and sizes, and you can even post a ‘looking for’ advertisement describing the vehicle that you are looking to purchase. It is possibly the simplest way to shop for almost any item.

About Gumtree

Gumtree was founded in 2000 as a London classifieds advertisement website that offered individuals who had just moved house within London or who had just moved into London from outside of the city to find accommodation, work and to make friends. It was so successful that the website has now spread to over 11 countries including Ireland, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa.

The website now offers many different categories including job classifieds, property rental and sale, businesses for sale, vehicles for sale, pet accessories and house hold goods for sale and just about anything else that you can think of. Putting a basic advertisement on Gumtree is free and if you are looking for a specific item you can put out a ‘looking for’ advertisement and describe exactly what you are looking for and simply wait for sellers to find you.

Why buy bicycles and motorbikes on Gumtree

The reason that it is so great to buy bicycles and motorbikes on Gumtree is that it is incredibly easy, efficient and hassle free. Because it is an online tool, you can search for whatever you are looking for anytime of the day or night and you will immediately see any new items that are advertised simply by refreshing the page. There are a great many users on the site who advertise, look for items and chat on the forum.

How to search for a bike

Simply log onto Gumtree at www.gumtree.co.za and select ‘browse ads’ at the top left hand corner to get started. Narrow it down to the area that you live in and select the vehicles category. You can then change the settings to narrow down your search even further and you will soon be browsing countless advertisements for bicycles and motorcycles that could be right for you.

What to remember when purchasing anything online

It is important to keep in mind that when you buy something online there are many potential dangers to think about. You will have to be sure that the individual or company who you have decided to purchase the item from is legitimate and is what they claim to be.

Many scam artists pose as legitimate companies in order to steal money from people looking to find a good deal. You can double check if a company is legitimate about asking to view their webpage, looking for reviews online, asking for references and following these up or asking the company to send you verified information through the post.

If you are buying something from an individual you should ask pertinent questions, always meet in a public place and never give anyone any money before you are sure that you will be getting the item you have paid for.

Motorcycles and bicycles in particular are very expensive items. You do not want to have to lose a lot of money by paying someone who is a con person. Make sure you take the time to find out who you are buying the item from, what the item is really like and whether you can trust the situation. Trust your gut, do not meet in private places and if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

If you are interested in riding motorcycles, you should look into getting proper BMW motorbike training at an official training academy or school. Riding a motorcycle is one of the most dangerous activities that you can do.

The speed and lack of a protective structure around the rider are just two of the factors that lend great danger to the activity and it is a very good idea to know how to handle your motorcycle and what to do if there is ever a problem or if you ever find yourself in a difficult situation.

The BMW Rider Academy

The BMW Rider academy offers motorbike training and even provides students with a motorcycle, meaning that you will not have to bring your own. It is even better for individuals who are planning to buy motorcycles but want to make a smart choice and get clued up on how to ride the motorcycles properly first. The BMW Rider Academy, and other motorcycle riding training academies and schools like it will offer students a chance to learn how to ride motorcycles properly, how to avoid dangerous situations and accidents and will help them compete to the best of their abilities in motorcycle competitions.

What does the BMW Rider Academy offer?

The BMW Rider Academy offers a range of different courses for individuals with different skill levels and different needs. So, even if you have never ridden a motorcycle in your life before, or if you have been riding for many years, there will be a course that will suit you and help you to be the best motorcycle rider you can be.

There is also a range of different courses aimed at individuals with different motorcycling interests. If you prefer on-road riding, there is a course for you and there is also a course for individuals who prefer off-road riding. If you prefer bumpy dirt roads, smooth tar or rocky terrain, there will be a course that will suit your needs.

Why should you get training?

If you have been riding your motorcycle for years, what would be the benefit of getting training? Well, motorcycles are dangerous machines that offer their riders little protection in the case of accidents. It is always a good idea to make sure that you are riding in the best way that you can to protect yourself.

Another good reason to get training is if you are interested in competing or riding professionally. It is always a good idea to tweak your skill and riding style to make sure that you are competition ready. If you have never ridden a motorcycle before, you should definitely enrol yourself in a motorcycle training course. Going without proper training will make your learning experience difficult and slow. It can also be quite frightening learning to ride a motorcycle and having proper training and a knowledgeable, experienced trainer to look to for guidance can be very reassuring.

What courses does the BMW Rider Academy offer?

The BMW Rider Academy offers several on road and off road courses for all level of rider, from completely inexperienced to very well ridden. The on road courses include the following:

the K53 Licence Preparation course (which will cost the rider R430)

the Introduction to Motorcycling course for novices (which will cost the rider R1 695)

the Refresher Rider Training course (which will cost the rider R885)

the Proficiency Rider Course (which will cost the rider R885)

The off road courses offered by the BMW Rider Academy include the following:

If you are looking for an easy, hassle-free way to find and buy barely used bikes and motorbikes online, you should take heed of the following tips and advice on how and where to buy second hand motorcycles and bicycles. Buying something as expensive as a vehicle, even if it is second hand, can be stressful and difficult.

It may seem overwhelming to find the perfect second hand motorcycle or bicycle that has had very little use, that suits your needs and wants and that suits your budget, but it is possible if you keep a level head, conduct the process properly and ask all the right questions.

Where to find and buy barely used bikes and motorbikes online

Online classifieds

There are many online classifieds that list advertisements for all sorts of items including second hand vehicles. Often, some of the vehicles are barely used. All sellers, including private sellers, motorcycle and bicycle companies, second hand dealerships and auctioneering houses, have been known to list motorcyles and bicycles that have had hardly any use on classifieds websites. Some of these websites include Gumtree, Bid or Buy, OLX and Junkmail.

Websites of second hand dealerships

There are a great many dealerships that specialise in second hand motorcycles and bicycles and you will undoubtedly find a vehicle that is right for you if you peruse the websites of some of these dealerships. Many of these businesses sell both new and used vehicles. Some of the websites that list motorcycles and bicycles for sale include Bikefind.co.za, Autotrader.co.za, Vehicletraders.co.za, Motorcycles.co.za, Automart.co.za, Autoworld.co.za, Cars.co.za and many more.

Social media

Many private sellers and second hand dealerships list barely used motorcycles and bicycles for sale on their social media accounts. To search for used vehicles through social media, you must first have your own Facebook and Twitter accounts. On Twitter you can search the keywords ‘motorcycle for sale’ and you will be able to view all the latest tweets from anyone who has mentioned those words in real time.

On Facebook, you could simply write a status about the fact that you are looking for a second hand motorcycle or bicycle and ask your friends if they know of anyone who has anything. You could also ask them to ‘share’ your comment so that more people will see it.

Likewise with Twitter, you could post a status asking for anyone who knows of a barely used motorcycle of bicycle for sale and ask your followers to retweet your tweet. This way, you will be sure to stay up to date with any discussion about second hand motorcycles or bicycles on Facebook or Twitter.

What to remember when buying a second hand motorcycle or bicycle

Decide and stick to your budget

It is very important to set a budget that you can afford and to stick to it. If you find a motorcycle or a bicycle that you really like you may be tempted to go over your budget but it is never a good idea. Set a reasonable budget and be firm with yourself.

Decide what you are looking for

You should have a very clear idea of what you want out of a motorcycle or bicycle, how much you will use it, what sort of vehicle will suit you size, strength and ability, and whether you want to ride for pleasure, sport or transport. You will then have a better idea of what to look for and you will be able to avoid the wrong sort of motorcycles or bicycles.

Find an expert and conduct a thorough inspection

Make sure you conduct a thorough inspection of any vehicle you are thinking of buying and consider taking a motorcycle or bicycle expert with you to check it out.

Take into account all the extras

When you add up the price, add in any repairs that may be necessary as well as any motorcycle gear you will have to buy, for example a helmet or boots.

Find a reputable seller

Find a reputable, honest seller who will be fair.

Motorcycles and particularly Harley Davidson motorcycles are incredibly expensive and purchasing one is a huge step to take. It is a big commitment because not only does a motorcycle require a lot of maintenance, it also requires a large amount of money. Most individuals cannot afford to purchase vehicles of this kind without some sort of assistance from a financial service provider.

Even second hand or used motorcycles are still incredibly expensive and require financing. In order to qualify for a loan from a reputable financial service provider, an individual must have two things:

A steady, reliable income that will cover both their essential living expenses as well as the loan repayments with interest.

A good credit record and no history of a failure to pay on time or the full amount for any credit in the past.

If an applicant has these two things, most major, reputable financial service providers like First National Bank, Standard Bank, Nedbank and Wesbank would probably approve their loan to purchase a motorcycle. However, if you do not have a good credit record or you do not quality because of your income or lack thereof, you could apply for a loan from a smaller, less well-known financial service provider.

There are many financial service providers who would be willing to finance loans without doing a credit check. You must, however, ensure that you read the fine print on any agreement carefully before signing it as you do not want to get in over your head with debt with a loan shark agency.

Where can you find advertisements for used Harley Davidsons and second hand bikes?

There are many places to find advertisements for second hand motorcycles and used Harley Davidsons. Classifieds websites like Bid or Buy, Deal Zone, Gumtree, OLX, Kalahari and others often have advertisements for used motorcycles. Dealerships that sell used motorcycles include Bike Find, Second Hand Warehouse, Auto Trader, Vehicle Traders, Motorcyclist, Automart, Auto World and many others.

If you choose to buy your vehicle through a dealership it is essential to make sure that you find a reputable, honest company that has a happy and satisfied customer base and that sells good quality motorcycles. If you choose to buy from a private seller make sure that you inspect the motorcycle thoroughly before purchasing.

What to keep in mind when buying a motorcycle

When buying a motorcycle you must be sure of several things. Firstly, are you aware of the statistics of accidents that occur for individuals on motorcycles? You must be sure that you can be safe on your motorcycle to avoid injury and even death.

Secondly, you must have a drivers licence for your motorcycle. You should not be using a motorcycle on any public roads or in any public area without a licence as you will be a danger to yourself and others.

Thirdly, set a reasonable budget and make sure you stick to it when purchasing your motorcycle. Make sure you have a clear idea of what you want so that you do not end up making a decision that you regret when you buy your bike.

Lastly, make sure that you buy all the necessary gear and safety equipment that individuals who ride motorcycles are advised to wear. This includes a good quality helmet that fits, protective gloves, quality boots that protect the ankle and lower leg as well, a jacket and pants that are durable and will protect you if have a fall and any goggles or biking glasses to protect your eyes from insects and other things that could potentially end up in your eyes when you are riding fast on your motorcycle.

Getting a motorcycle learners license in South Africa is incredibly important if you are looking to buy and use a motorbike.

If you are looking at buying a motorcycle, you will need to have a licence to drive it. Before you can apply for a proper licence, you will have to get your learner’s. It is essential that you do have a licence because there are stringent penalties in place for drivers who are caught driving without licences. You could be obliged to pay a hefty fine or you might not be able to apply for one in the future.

You will not be able to apply for motor vehicle insurance if you do not have a licence. If you drive without a lisence and you are involved in an accident, you might be found out and charged for not being lisenced, made to pay for any other motorist’s damage if others were involved and you will certainly be left to cover the costs of your own damage without help from an insurance company. It is, therefore, absolutely essential to apply for one before driving your motorcycle.

What is a learner’s licence?

According to the South African Government Services, a learner’s licence is proof that you have basic knowledge of both the rules of the road and the motor vehicle you are driving. A learner’s licence gives you the right to drive your motor vehicle as long as you are supervised by a fully licenced individual.

Being taught how to ride a motor cycle

How do you get a learner’s licence to ride a bike?

If you are 16 years or older, you can apply for a learner’s licence for a motorcycle, motor tricycle or quadrucycle with an engine that does not exceed 125 cc. If you are 17 years or older, you may apply for a learner’s licence for a motorcycle, motor tricycle or quadrucycle with any size engine.

Visit your nearest Driving Licencing Testing Centre and book a test date. You will need to take the following with you:

Your ID book

Two identical black and white ID photographs

The booking fee

You will then need to complete the LL1 or Application for Learner’s Licence form. If you are 65 years or older, you will also need to fill out a Medical Certificate form. Both forms are available at the Driving Licencing Testing Centre.

You will then have some time to study the rules of the road, the basics of motorcycles and road signs etc. before writing your test. On the day of the test you must bring your ID book and your booking receipt. If you pass your test you will have to pay an issuing fee and you will be given your learner’s licence on the same day. Your learner’s licence will be valid for 24 months and you must pass your actual licence in this time or you will have to rewrite your learner’s licence.

How to make sure you pass your learner’s licence

The learner’s licence test can be tricky. The best way to ensure that you pass is to take the time to study properly and prepare yourself. You can purchase the K53 book at most chain book stores like CNA. Make sure that you study it way in advance and that you understand everything clearly.

There are some websites available that will give you tips and advice on how to pass your motorcycle learner’s licence. There are websites that offer mock tests to see how well you know your K53 and they will rate you and tell you which areas you need to work on. SA Learners is one such website that will provide all the information and advice necessary to pass your learner’s.

Finding and using bike hospitals and motorcycle repair facilities will become a part of your life if you are a bike or motorcycle enthusiast.

If you have or will be taking the big step of purchasing a bike or motorcycle, then you should be prepared to maintain it. The costs of either of these machines is huge and keeping them in good condition is essential. If you ride motorbikes for pleasure, for transport or for sport, there will, at some point, be an incident where your motorcycle or bicycle is damaged. Even if you manage to avoid accidents, there will undoubtedly be wear and tear which should be taken care of.

Doing it yourself

Many motorcycle and bike enthusiasts try to take on repairing and maintaining their vehicles themselves. This requires some sound knowledge of the parts and they way they work, and of the specific bikes brand. Many enthusiasts will lovingly take their bike apart to find the source of a problem or simply just to clean it. They spend hours slowly putting it back together, studying each piece and working carefully. However, in many cases the problem is not fixed and due to a lack of technical experience and knowledge on the part of the enthusiast, something else is broken in the process.

Without proper training in bike and motorcycle repair, doing it yourself is never a good idea. Unless the problem is something very small and easy to fix, most professionals would suggest leaving it to them. You can, however, grow your knowledge by learning more, but it is advisable to avoid taking the vehicles apart or attempting to fix a major problem until you have the experience and knowledge.

Taking your vehicle to bike hospitals and motorcycle repair facilities

There are many bike hospitals and motorcycle repair facilities across the country, some with a better reputation or better facilities than others. Because of the enormous value of your vehicle, you will want to be sure that you take it to the very best repair facility or hospital possible. You will want to ensure that the facility has:

A good reputation and the references to prove it

Trustworthy, well trained, experienced and qualified staff

Good facilities with all the necessary tools and equipment

Safe facilities as your expensive motorcycle or bike might be sitting in it for a long period of time

A policy of openness and transparency so that you know exactly what the staff are doing to your vehicle and why

Avoiding dishonesty in the vehicle repair industry is essential. Many businesses or staff within them have been known to over charge clients for labour, or to deceive the customer into paying for a bigger, more technical job when it is not necessary. You can ensure that you do not fall victim to this kind of deceit by taking note of the following tips:

Do your research carefully. Make sure to look online, in print classifieds and ask around your friends and family to find good, well known facilities and hospitals.

Look for criticism or praise online for businesses you are considering. Often, people will comment about their experiences with a certain facility on online forums.

Prepare a list of questions and then visit the facility. Look at everything carefully and take note of how the staff member answers your questions. If you come prepared, a potentially dishonest staff member might decide that it is not a good idea to try and deceive you.

Take a friend or family member who has some knowledge of bike or motorcycle repair with you. Rely on them to ask the right sort of questions.

If you cannot find anyone with experience in this particular field to come with you, ask a friend who is good at reading people to join you. He or she might be able to tell whether or not you should trust the staff members. Just having another person with you might make staff members less inclined to try to pull the wool over your eyes.

Buying a mountain bike is an expensive venture, so choosing the right mountain bike will be high on your list or priorities. When it comes to buying a new (or used!) bike, there is no one particular brand that can be recommended far above the others as there are not very any differences between bikes in the same price range, no matter the make. Rather than looking for a brand name, it is best to look at individual bikes and choose the bike that is best for your budget and your purposes.

New or improve?

Instead of choosing a new mountain bike, you can also choose to upgrade your old bike with new parts. Making this decision depends on whether your bike has “V” brakes, the most significant technological improvement in mountain bikes. If your bike doesn’t already have linear pull cantilevers, you may as well get a new bike since you will have to replace the brakes as well as the brake levers. Suspension is also cheaper when bought in a complete package rather than added on later. Depending on which new parts you need, buying new parts and installing them on your old bike (including the labour) could actually cost you as much as buying you a new bike.

New wheels

If you decide to buy a new bike choosing the right mountain bike is your next consideration. As mentioned before, most bikes are built with similar frame materials and components with very little difference form one bike manufacturer to another. This makes choosing your new mountain bike a whole lot easier as there are fewer factors to consider. Essentially, there are two important points to consider: the amount of money you are willing to spend; and what colour bike to would like to buy. Simple, right?

Which price is nice?

The first point to consider is how much you are willing to spend on your new bike, as each manufacturer usually has a range of bikes with very different prices according to their quality and function. To determine how much you should spend on your bike you must consider how much money you have to spend and what kind of riding you will be doing on your bike. Obviously, the more you can afford to spend the better, so consider saving up, selling another asset, or getting some form of financing for your new ride. Once you have established a maximum spending limit you can begin to look at the bikes within your price range.

If possible, lower-end mountain bikes should be avoided. Even if you think you won’t be doing any intense off-road biking, your priorities may change and you could find yourself more involved in the sport and then ill-equipped for the development of your hobby. You may also be asked on a more intense outing by friends and you don’t want to have to buy another bike to accommodate the trip. Even spending a few hundred Rand more can make all the difference in the quality of the bike you are buying. Rather spend money now to save you spending more money in the long run.

The bike’s cost is based on its durability and weight. Lighter bikes are more expensive because the components and frame have been lightened, although the bike is still as durable as a heavier bike. At the same time, you don’t want a bike that is too light as this may compromise on your safety behind the handlebars.

When you visit the mountain bike shops to look for new wheels, make use of the knowledgeable sales assistants. Inform them of your budget and they can help you to find the best bike for you within this range. Let them know about your riding habits, and be sure to check that the size of the bike fits your body type. Don’t only visit one outlet; look at a number of places and even look online so that you can compare prices and be sure you are getting a good deal.

If you ride a motorbike, you must have it insured to protect you against any damage to your bike, or to someone else’s property. With a high crime rate and high road accident count in South Africa, you need to be prepared in case something should happen. There are a number of companies that offer bike insurance, so it is in your interest to compare bike insurance quotes online to ensure that you are getting a good deal. Comparing quotes online is a quick and efficient way of finding the right insurance scheme to keep you covered on the road.

Generally, the more cover you need, the more expensive the insurance cover will be. You need to decide whether you would like cover for accidents, cover for damage to your bike, cover for other people’s property or a more extensive insurance scheme with value-added extras.

Where to look for insurance quotes online

Once you have an idea of the type of coverage and policy you are looking for as well as your budget constraints, you can go online to get insurance quotes for the cover that you need. One way of doing this is to visit the websites of different insurance providers and get a quote from each one using the contact details provided on the company’s website. Insurance providers include OUTsurance, Hollard, and Dial Direct, to name a few.

An easier way of getting a number of quotes at one time is to use an online quote comparer. These websites allow you to enter details about your bike and the coverage you need for it before sourcing a number of quotes from insurance providers. You can then compare these quotes and decide which best suits your budget and your needs.

Some of the websites that will allow you to do this are:

GetInsurance (http://getinsurance.co.za/) is a website dedicated to provide free advice in getting the best insurance deals for your motorcycle and to help you understand the jargon associated with both long and short term insurance. On the website, you can also compare quotes from major companies and take a look at the different forms of motorcycle insurance policies that are available.

InsuranceHound.co.za (http://www.insurancehound.co.za) allows you to save both time and money, helping you to compare insurance rates so that you can find cover tailored to your own unique needs. To receive free insurance quotes, you just need to fill out an insurance request from online and various insurance companies will provide you with relevant quotes.

Hints and tips for comparing bike insurance quotes online

There are many different options when it comes to motorcycle cover. This is why you should look into a variety of policies and providers. Consider whether you need theft or third party insurance.

Once you have a number of different policy quotes you will be able to compare them and see which one best matches your insurance needs and budget. Be sure to read the fine print to look for any hidden costs that may not be directly obvious on the quote. After you have signed the insurance policy you are bound to the terms of the contract (no matter how small they are typed).

Check for a high excess fee – one insurance company may seem to offer cheaper insurance than the competition on a monthly basis, but this may only be because there are hefty excess fees if you do make a claim. Low premiums could also mean low coverage, so make sure that the policy contains everything that you need covered.

Make sure that the insurance provider is reputable by checking up on them online and doing a background check on their past business. Generally, websites that dig up a number of quotes will only do so from reliable insurance companies.

The amount you will have to pay on your insurance premiums is dependent on a number of factors, so be sure to have this information on hand when you fill out a form for a quote request. Details you may need to know are the make and model of the motorcycle, the mileage, as well as the different levels of danger faced by the motorcycle.

ABSA repossessed bikes can be the ride you are looking for to find a motorcycle at a decent price. As one of the largest financial services provider in South Africa ABSA bank has more repossessed motorcycles up for auction than other financial institutions. Especially after the current financial times that have resulted in a lot more bike repossessions.

Bike repossessions in South Africa include models such as:

BMW

Honda

Yamaha

Suzuki

Ducati

Triumph

Kawasaki

KTM

Harley Davidson

Many people these days are in debt because of the harsh economic conditions.

This means that people can’t afford purchases they once made, such as motorcycles.

If a motorcycle is bought through bike finance from ABSA. And the person who bought it is unable to make the necessary installments with interest. The bike is liable to be repossessed by the bank and put up for sale to cover its losses.

A bike can also be up for repossession if the owner dishonors the agreements or terms of the loan.

Buying ABSA repossessed bikes can be beneficial to your budget. Because the bank want to cover their costs rather than make a profit on sales. Repo bikes often sell for less than they are actually worth.

This gives buyers a great opportunity to take advantage of some great deals on wheels.

Where can I find repossessed bikes?

Repossessed vehicles such as motorcycles sell at auctions in South Africa. This is a quick and easy way for the bank to sell the bike as soon as possible and recover their losses.

This may also interest you: Bank Repossessed Motorcycles and Auctions

Weekly auctions are by auction houses such as Aucor and Burchmores in all major cities in South Africa. Such as: Johannesburg, Durban. Pretoria, Cape Town, and Port Elizabeth.

These auctions are a great way to pick up a used bike at a competitive price to have you burning rubber in no time.

There are a number of benefits of buying repossessed bikes on auction rather than buying a used bike through traditional means:

Repossessed bikes sold on auction often sell for more reasonable prices.

It is easier to get financing for repo bikes. As the bank will be eager to sell the vehicle. Banks such as ABSA often have counters at the auction event providing financing for your purchases.

Auctions are an exciting and fun way of buying a used bike.

Motorcycle Auction Hints and Tips

Although there are a number of benefits to attending auctions of used bikes, there are a number of precautions to bear in mind. To ensure that you have a rewarding auction experience:

Always do your research. Before you go to the auction you need to get a list of all the bikes for sale. Decide which vehicle or vehicles you are interested in then do a background check on the motorcycles you may bid on.

You need to check up on the market value of the motorcycle that interests you. Compare prices of similar vehicles and decide on your maximum bidding price. Don’t bid above this amount. Otherwise you will pay more for the bike than what it is worth.

Once you know how much you would like to spend, approach the bank or other lending institution. To get a pre-approval for the financing you need for your purchase. An ABSA consultant will usually be at the auction so you can approach them before you bid.

Inspect the bike before the auction event. You need to see for your own eyes what kind of condition the motorcycle is in. If you don’t know much about bikes, bring along someone who does or find out what you should be looking for. Important aspects to inspect are looking at the bodywork for any signs of damage, and running the engine to check if the oil is clear.

Arrive early! You need time to inspect the bikes, to pre-approve financing. And prepare yourself for the bidding so don’t arrive just as the auction is starting.

Don’t forget to bring along your motorcycle license if you have one.

What Other Banks Sell Repossessed Bikes in South Africa?

It’s not only ABSA Bank that offer bike repossessions in this country. Other credit providers are having to repossess bikes due to non-payment.

Banks offering bike repossessions in South Africa include:

Standard Bank

First National Bank (FNB)

Capitec Bank

Nedbank

You don’t usually purchase the motorcycles directly from the banks themselves but rather they are for sale at repo auctions.

You can use an online search engine to seek out repo motorcycle auctions and general vehicle auctions near you.

In Summary

Buying a repossessed motorcycle in South Africa can be a smart way to save money while acquiring a reliable vehicle. But it’s essential to approach the process carefully to minimize risks.

The bikes are often sold at a lower price because they are usually recovered from owners who defaulted on their loans.

To make a successful purchase, you should begin by doing thorough research on the motorcycle’s history and market value.

This includes checking the vehicle identification number (VIN) for any past accidents or title issues and comparing prices with similar models to ensure you’re getting a fair deal.

Conducting a proper inspection is also crucial; consider hiring a professional mechanic to assess the bike’s condition, looking for any signs of wear, damage, or potential mechanical problems that could lead to costly repairs down the line.

Additionally, it’s important to fully understand the terms of the sale. Such as warranty provisions, return policies, and any additional fees that might be involved.

By taking these steps, you can make a more informed decision and increase your chances of acquiring a high-quality motorcycle at a reasonable price.

Absa repossessed bikes are probably some of the most reliable to purchase because they are sold by a reputable financial institution in South Africa.
