Sennheiser HD 598 Unboxing / Review

The box containing Sennheiser HD 598 has arrived after buying it through Boxing Day sale at Amazon. There was a QR code on the side to see if it is an authentic product, but I don't know if this really is the best way to validate it. It has low resistance, so it seemed ok to use without a dedicated sound card or an amp.

Cool color scheme. I am personally fan of unique colours and since I won't be using this outside my house since its an open headphone, I might as well get the fancy headphone for my entertainment.

The cable is detachable which seems like a neat feature, not sure how important this feature will be, but nice indeed.

I would have to use this headphone with the adapter and it makes it bit bulky and worrisome if I would have to just have it plugged in.

The headphone is very light for its size and earcups are cushiony. The clamp and the top of the head still needs some time for me to get used to. I have used it for about 4 hours straight listening to music and playing games. It didn't make me sweat or have much of a headache if any.

I haven't used any high end headphones before so only direct comparison I can make is cheap earphone, URBANEAR headphone, and Bose over ear headphone I've borrowed from a friend. Meaning, I can't really comment on the specifics of its machinery. Compared to other headphones, I was able to hear new instruments and tracks that I could not hear before. It is so amusing to just focus on trying to find out what kind of sound I was missing from my favorite music. At first, the vocals seemed bit drowned, but it did get better as I listened to it more.

The comfort is great. Light, not tight, but BOSE one has to be one of the lightest and comfortable headphone I have tried. But the purpose of the two headphones are bit different, so that was expected. It didn't make me sweat or give me a headache so it is a pass.

I'm not much of a bass lover, but I can see how this headphone may seem boring to many listeners. However, great for acoustic music.

How to Make Crispy Corn Dog (Korean Style)

I love fried stuff. I love Korean street food. But unfortunately, there aren't a lot of Korean street food that I can eat in Kingston. That's why I shall make it by myself. When I first heard of "hot dog" at a young age, it wasn't the typical hot dog that you may know, sausage on a bun and condiments. The picture you see above is what I saw in Korea, somewhat. It's basically a corn dog but more crispy and no need to make a batter.

Ingredients:

4 sausage
2 eggs
4 white bread slices
breadcrumbs
oil

Steps:

Put the sausages in a boiling water to cook it a bit.
Let the sausages cool down and wipe the water.
Cut the edges of the bread. Use a roller to flatten the bread.
Wrap the sausage with the bread.
Wet the wrapped sausage in egg. Then roll it in breadcrumbs.
Fry it in oil until it browns. (You don't need a lot of oil, you can just roll the corn dog as it browns.)

I am a fan of listening to old Korean pop music which includes early 2000s. I think it might be because these are the songs that I grew up listening to. The song is perfect for summer at the beach, although summer is almost over now. The song is happy and soothing for me.

The duo unfortunately disbanded around 2005, but each of them had some TV appearances. The one on the left is known as the genius and has shown great knowledge in mathematics by appearing in Japanese TV show which makes contestants solve math problems. He will be appearing on a Korean TV show called "The Genius" Season 3 which is known for having contestants play a strategic and mindful games, although season 2 didn't go so well.

The one on the right has done some acting and appeared in some entertainment shows from time to time, but hasn't done anything much recently.

Anyway, GOOOOOOOOD MUSIC. cheers me up.

Mr. Go - K movie review

This movie was released in 2013. The story is a gorilla from Chinese circus who has amazing baseball batting talent who is recruited into Korean baseball team. It shows the relationship between weiwei (female character if I remembered the name correctly) with the gorilla.

Considering this was a collaboration between Korean and Chinese actors, I understand the language problem, but I was quite impressed with weiwei's acting while speaking Korean. Still the main point is supposed to be about the story for me. Maybe the story was trying to show Gorilla showing one sided love and care at the beginning and then weiwei realizes it? but I was confused as to whether the girl really saw Mr. Go as a family or a tool. There are mixed moments where she seems to care a lot, and other moments when she doesn't. Although the beginning of the story up to the mid was good, having an another gorilla who plays pitcher who is tamed simply by unleashing the chain was no good for me.

It seems like typical family movie which would have had more impact if I saw it in 3d, but there wasn't any shocking ending or twisted storyline which I adore.

If you want to see how they did the CG, go ahead, if you wanted to look for a good movie, I dunno.

There was a news that I heard which stated European team has been fined for trolling in a challenger series. They bought inefficient items, blew summoner spells, and delayed the game for their enjoyment. People who hear about this news have two different opinions. One half says that is the right move, and second is 'they took more challenge by buying inefficient items and showed skill.' I will tell you right now I am with the first half.

E-sports is growing, wants to be accepted as a real sport, and slowly becoming one. While it is all fun and games during solo que or ranked with your friends, challenger series is a part of e-sports which needs to main professionalism. In order to become a real sport, they must hold same degree of integrity and sportsmanship that we expect from other sports. The sportsmanship is when they respect each other and play fairly with all their effort to make sure they tried their best.

In the case of this situation, that wasn't the case. They were delaying the game, buying unnecessary items which is clearly a disrespect to the other team. No matter how much of a lead you may have, it is not right to just troll the other team in a professional setting. An example that comes to my mind is when Manchester City (soccer team) visited a lower skilled team, NA all stars or something like that, and when Balotelli had a good chance in front of the net, he tried some spinning move for some fancy goal which failed. He was booed by the fan and subbed by the coach. That was disrespectful to the enemy team and both enemy team and the viewers want to watch players try their best, not some stupid stuff. While it may be enjoyable to watch from one point, purposely delaying the match to make fun of the enemy team does not match the sportsmanship that is required of a proper sport.

[LoL] Reasons why NA don't have 'talents'

In League of Legends, North America has been regarded as the weakest region. And unfortunately, the results in international competitions weren't in favor of NA either. Some of the reasons behind it, such as coaching staffs and practice regimens in Asia, were pointed out and many of them have been already incorporated in NA teams as well as EU teams. There has been a lot of international drafting in NA scene recently, such as Seraph and Helios from Korea, Dexter and Amazing from EU, and a whole team from China. Although people agree that general skill level in NA pro scene has increased, but the fact that Chinese team who wasn't the top team in Chinese league is in 1st place in NA brings more questions onto the table.

I will expand on one point that didn't get as much emphasis as other points in my opinion.

"No Trainee"

An infrastructure from Korea that has yet to be seen in NA is trainee system. It can be connected with solo que scene that is seen as less competitive compared to Korea as well. The environment that potential pro players play in is just not very comparable to what they will actually experience. The trainees are able to experience lifestyle and practice regimen that is close to the pro player while also learning from them side by side.

Some may say that playing in a regular ranked 5 team and participating in other tournaments regularly will give you that experience, but the problem is that the other infrastructures are not in place for these amateur teams. I would say the closest to this system would have been Cloud 9 Tempest which unfortunately didn't make it through the relegation tournament.

Some what, close to what I would like to see is A and B team for one organization, but with how LCS is set up, that doesn't seem like a huge possibility for a while. More professional players playing with an infrastructure in place will allow faster and more growth in NA. With different mindsets and cultural norms between Asia and NA, this may not even be a possibility, but with current progress and view of NA player pool, I don't think NA will be able sustain itself with star players.

IZUMO Sushi - friendly place

After failing to try this place out due to summer holidays. Made another plan to go to this place. We ordered Combo A for 2 people which is 40 pieces of sushi,rolls, and sashimi. Had more varieties than I could expect. 25 dollars per person was reasonable. Can't be compared to the buffet ones so that's a plus.

Also got this roll on the house. Delicious roll. Made us content with the amount of food in the stomach.

There seems to be a lot of regulars around the place. Saying Hello to many people. I would recommend this place for sushi enthusiast to compare with other top contenders in Kingston.

I don't have a lot of experience with Indian cuisine, so it didn't go as smooth as possible, but o well, always a first time. The location is bit far from the campus, but I have access to a car, so it's ok. The place isn't huge, but enough space for you to move your chair and stuff. I wasn't sure what the name of the right thing was, but it was like an appetizer that just came out for free and it was good.

We ordered samosa which was good, but didn't feel something out of ordinary compared to other samosa I had before.

3 people went, and 3 people got the same sauce, which was a horrible choice. I got butter chicken, but it was too sweet for us.

Food: 2.5/5

It is actually hard to grade this place, considering I ordered a menu which I don't even really like outside. My cup had a lot of dust on it, so that was disappointing. I would probably go here again, if it was with bunch of friends and try something spicy.

Cooking Ribs in Oven - Simple steps

Prepare Ribs with salt and pepper.
Put aluminum Foil on the pan.
Pour bit of water inside
Place Ribs in the pan
Cover the top with another aluminum foil to make a "tent"
Heat the oven to 325 Farenheit (Bake)
Cook for 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours depending on how it looks to you.
Put sauce you want on top of the ribs
put it back in the oven for 5-10 min. (Roast)
BAM! your food is ready

SIMA Sushi, best Japanese food in Kingston

There are a lot of Japanese restaurant in Kingston, but many of my experiences in them weren't very impressive. This has been the best so far, although only thing I have gotten so far is SIMA lunch special. I shall try more.

The place is clean, simple, good fish, only complain is the place is bit tight.
