WAIT WHAT?! WHO AM I??? Five for Friday

Ohhh, hello like 7 months later No good excuses except school was crazy + I had a group of 6th graders who were more interested in finding me on social media than paying attention in math class! Hahaha jk. They were fabulous students, but not joking about the social media part. This summer has been crazy interesting…school ended on a Thursday, we started moving into our condo ON THE BEACH on Sunday, Monday afternoon D went to the doctor and found out the “muscle strain” in his abs was actually a RUPTURED APPENDIX, followed by emergency surgery that night, 4 days in the hospital, and….we had to leave for the TPT conference in Vegas a few days after he got home! Luckily, he’s a trooper (he did have a ruptured appendix for SEVEN DAYS and barely thought anything of it) and we went to Vegas, had an unbelievable time meeting everyone at the conference and then we spent another week plus touring EIGHT different National Parks!

So to jump back into the swing of blogging, I decided to join in on Five for Friday

The last park we visited this week was the GRAND CANYON! It was seriously beautiful and amazing! What a great way to spend then end of our trip!

While on our trip, we also celebrated our one year wedding anniversary! What a fabulous year it has been with this amazing guy!

I posted this question on my teacher instagram (follow me and say hi!) and was amazed by the responses I got!

So….what about you???! I am having such a difficult time figuring this out. Last year I bought tons of tape a dispensers and spent well over $200 on tape…there has to be a better way, right? I already stocked up on tons of Elmer glue sticks at Target this week, but I am interested to know what you use! Does anyone use liquid glue and have any tips for making it work?!

I’ve been working on things for next year like crazy! Lots of time on my laptop this past week while driving from park to park! I am so excited for the new things I will be doing in my classroom. Check out some of my new products for the beginning of the year:

No picture for this one, yet! As I mentioned in the beginning, we moved into a condo on the BEACH (I also teach at the BEACH). We are having a great time unpacking, setting up and decorating. I can’t wait to share pictures of the finished product!

Math Goals for 2014

I am planning on giving this to the students to work on the day we get back from break. We have conferences the Thursday we get back and I would love to have these up for the parents to see!

How do teachers teach AND blog? I really don’t understand This year has been wonderful + challenging all at the same time. I’m teaching 2 inclusion classes and I am absolutely loving it. We started out Interactive Math Notebooks and the students are really doing a great job with them! I’m exhausted already and it’s only Monday! This year is shaping up to be quite a year! All I can manage right now is a photo collage of random Instagram pictures of my classroom (made on Fotor!)

Common Core Posters!

Since I have been back from my honeymoon, I have been super busy– working on curriculum writing…oh yeah, and did I mention, my brother and sister-in-law had a beautiful baby girl, Reese!

Besides loving this cute baby, I have been compulsively back-to-school shopping…

In the past week, I have been to Staples, Office Max, Target, Walmart and our local teacher store! In all fairness, I lost a ton of things after our school got hit by Hurricane Sandy last fall…especially a lot of the back to school posters, bulletin borders, etc that I had and I just now realized were gone.

Today I finally got to work on some of the posters and things for my classroom too. Thanks to my mom for helping with the cutting and laminating! I decided that I am using my neon chevron as my main color scheme in my room this year. I printed all of the standards posters, trimmed and laminated them.

Then I put them in order and divided them by domains. I punched a whole in each one and put them on rings.

I plan on hanging these on my board each day on a hook! Last year I had all the posters printed and slid them into a page protector I had mounted on the board. While a good idea in theory, for someone as unorganized as me, I never put them back in the right order (and now they are washed away in the Atlantic Ocean thanks to Old Sandy). I figured this would be a MUCH better way to stay organized and post the standards.

I also remade my white board headers for my daily information for my students. I just have to pick up more magnets for the backs.

We have a day 1-6 schedule so I made cards with numbers 1-6 that I can flip each day. They will also be on a magnetic hook like I am using for the state standards.

I also created this super cute *MATH* bunting with my new editable template pack (55 DIFFERENT backgrounds!) that I figure I can post some place in my room.

I haven’t decided if I am going to attach it with ribbon or magnets on my board. I have to get into my new classroom to check it out before I decide. You can download it for free HERE!

One last thing! I love my Scotch Laminator. It’s amazing! I use it SO much…but I hate spending tons of money on the laminating pouches! I found these generic ones on Amazon and I used them for the first time today and they are AWESOME…and so much cheaper! Just thought I would share the wealth

Back to Reality/School 2013!

It was seriously a magical three weeks in California, but we were ready to come home! Of course the day we got back, we had to run to Target to pick up some hangers…I know you will be shocked to see that my cart ended up full of school supplies…

GUYS, 12 packs of glue sticks for $1.77!! And a chevron pencil holder! And Chevron scissors! And a pie chart post-it set! And cheap pencils!

The rest of this week has been spent on setting up our apartment, writing curriculum and prepping for the school year!

I spent one of our first days back trying to print new things for my classroom! I think I’m going for a neon chevron print this year!

Wait…I’M MARRIED!

Sorry for the sporadic posting and my inability to focus on the 2013-2013 school year…exactly one week ago, I married the great love of my life!

It was the most beautiful wedding (even if it was like 100 degrees). D and I are s thankful for our amazing friends and family who made this wedding possible!

We’re currently finishing up week one of our THREE week honeymoon (ahhh teachers are SO LAZY— what’s working all summer :)). Our first week was spend in San Diego.

The next two weeks include an epic road trip to the following places: Vegas, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, Yosemite, San Fran, Napa, Monterey, LA, San Luis Obispo, and Sonoma. I’m going to try and post some new things during this time (hahahahahahhahaha). Hope everyone is having a great summer!

I have a pretty good excuse– I promise…

Yep…I’m getting married in ELEVEN days! The past threeish weeks of summer vacation (our last day was June 21st) have been a marathon of wedding planning plus the 2 inservice classes I am taking this week. I am beyond excited and just READY for it to be here. Luckily I have THE BEST mom in the world, who is single handily making my wedding amazing. I have been working on some school and TPT things, but mostly I have been working on fun crafts with my mom like…
