How do I delete My Skype

It is currently not possible to permanently delete your Skype Name. However, deleting your profile information (which includes your real name and other details, plus any pictures of yourself you have uploaded) ensures that anyone else using Skype will no longer be able to find or identify you.

You cannot remove your Skype Name from other people’s contact lists, but if you never sign in to Skype with that Skype Name, you will always appear offline.

To delete your profile details:

For Windows, go to Skype > Profile > Edit Your Profile...
For Linux, click on your Skype Name above your contact list and select Edit profile.
Then remove all the information in your profile.

To delete a Skype Name from the sign-in screen:

If you are using Windows XP:

Quit Skype. In the system tray at the bottom right of your screen, right-click the Skype icon and select Quit.
Click Start > Run.
Type %appdata%\skype into the Run window and click OK. All the files held in the Skype folder in your Program files appear.
Delete the folder named after the Skype Name you wish to remove from the sign-in screen.

"How do I change my IP address?" and "Can I change my IP address?" are probably the most commonly asked questions. Please attempt the following then, if that does not work, visit theChange IP Address forum.

Before trying any other methods to change your IP address, try turning off (or unplugging the power of) your Cable/DSL modemfor five minutes. In many cases this will change your IP address. However, if that does not change your IP address, repeat the process for 8 hours (overnight works well) instead of 5 minutes. Hopefully this will result in an IP change.

If the above does not result in your IP address changing, please look through the below for the situation that best matches yours and attempt to change your IP address that way. Unfortunately you are not able to get your IP address to change in all cases, as it is ultimately determined by your ISP'sDHCP configuration (when you've got a dynamically assigned IP address, that is.)

Windows

- Computer connected directly to the modem

Get to a command prompt. (START, run, cmd).
Type "ipconfig /release" (without the quotes, on the command line by itself).
Type "ipconfig /renew" (without the quotes, on the command line by itself).

Windows (second option)

- Computer connected directly to the modem

Shut down computer.

If you are using a cable/DSL modem and a router, you may wish to connect your computer directly to the cable/DSL modem. Please note that this could significantly impact your system security. This allows your ISP's DHCP to issue you a new (hopefully changed) IP address based of the (hardware) MAC address of your computer's ethernet card.

If all the above has not worked to change your IP address and you have a router, check and see if there is a "Clone MAC Address" option. Using it should change your IP address; however, you'll only be able to do it once (in most cases).

These will not work in all cases. If all else fails contact your internet service provider (ISP) and ask them if they are able to change your IP address or how long your connection needs to be off for your IP address to change.

If you trying to change your IP address because you are just trying to access web based forums you may wish to attempt to configure your internet browser to use a proxy server.

Here are some things you can do with your Yahoo messenger. I will put them in three sections - Easy, Moderate and Hard to show what level of computer knowledge is recommended.

Easy

Send a group message
This one is really simple. Just right click on the group title in your contact list and select Send Message to all in this group . Alternatively hold down the Ctrl and left click on the names you wish to send a message to. Once you have hilighted the required names simply right click on a name and select Send a message .

Change webcam status message
Really simple and hardly a secret. Click Login at the top left and then click on Preferences. Once the preferences window has opened click on Webcam in the list on the left. Now on the right at the bottom you should see a box and next to it it says When my Webcam is on, change my status message to . Tick the box and then type the message you want people to see when you have your webcam on.

Moderate

Change the title bar text
You can change the text that appears in the bar at the very top of the messenger window by simply editting the ymsgr.ini which you will find in the same folder as your messenger. Locate the ymsgr.ini file and open it in notepad or any text editor. Then at the end add the following

caption=YOUR TEXT

changing YOUR TEXT to whatever you want it to say. Then save the file and close messenger. When you restart messenger you will see your new message.

Edit/delete your custom away messages
Please only attempt this if you are confident at registry editting. Click Start and click on Run . In the run window type regedit and press Enter. Once regedit has opened click the following items in the list on the left. You can either double click the folder image or single click on the + sign. First open HKEY_CURRENT_USER then Software then Yahoo then Pager then profiles . Next open the folder for the accounts who's away messages you want to edit or delete. Now open the Custom Msgs folder. In here you will see all the status messages you have set next to a number. The Number_DND bit sets whether it shows you as busy or not with that status. 1 will show you as busy while 0 will not and 2 will set you as idle. The away msg entry is the last away message you used.

Knowing the Internet Protocol (IP) address one has to the outside world can often be useful for various purposes.
If you need to setup a direct IP connection over the internet, you need to know your IP Address as seen by others on the internet.

Find IP Address if Computer or Router

If you use router between your computer and the internet, your public IP address is the same as the public ip address of your router. Whether your router is cable, wireless, linksys, netgear or whatever does not matter.

You can connect multiple systems to your router, e.g. laptops, xbox 360, play station, media center and other computers.

Your router can make all connected systems share the same IP address. The router handles this by tracking outgoing and incoming TCP and UDP packets. It can do so by assigning port numbers to all outgoing traffic and compare these to incoming traffic port numbers.

If your ISP has given you a static IP address it should be the same each time you connect to the internet. If you have a dynamic IP address it should change when you disconnect and connect to the internet.

The special IP address 127.0.0.1, also called localhost, refers to your own computer.

What Is the IP Address of a Router?

The external, WAN-IP address of the router is set when the router connects to the Internet service provider. This address can also be viewed on the router's administrative console. Alternatively, the WAN-IP address can be found by visiting a Web-based IP address lookup service like http://checkip.dyndns.org/ from any computer on the home LAN.

Following the Japanese quake, many analysts predicted supply issues for Apple's iPad 2 and upcoming iPhone 5. In fact, just today Best Buy announced that it would postpone sales of the second-generation iPad because of "supply constraints," while the iPhone 5 might be delayed until the second half of 2011 instead of the usual early summer refresh.

To minimize the impact of shortages, Cupertino has reportedly been making aggressive moves to secure components from overseas suppliers. According to analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities, Apple executives contacted suppliers "immediately" after the Japanese earthquake and offered upfront cash payments to ensure adequate supply

Meanwhile, ThinkEquity analyst Rajesh Ghai writes that Apple has secured approximately 60% of the total available touch panel capacity. This jibes with a recent DigiTimes report that claimed Apple's control of the touchscreen market will cause Research In Motion's BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to be delayed by a month, giving the iPad 2 a healthy head start.

It remains to be seen whether delays will materialize, but Ghai notes that Apple's primary manufacturing source, Hon Hai, doesn't expect any shortages. Furthermore, he mentions that bumping the iPhone 5 to a fall launch could prove beneficial as it would give Apple more time to polish the handset, which would arrive during a stronger shopping season.

Installing a new motherboard can be a daunting task. As the central hub of your computer, a proper installation of the motherboard is vital. For those who own an Intel 845G series board, installation is straightforward. You’ll have your computer up and running in no time, and rest assured your motherboard is safe and secure.

Install the motherboard’s I/O shield into the case. This plate sets up your case to fit precisely with all the connections at the back of your motherboard. You might need to take out the default I/O plate present on your computer’s case already. Press firmly from the back of the plate, and it should snap out of place. Install the I/O shield included with your Intel motherboard by pressing it firmly into the slot from inside the case. The shield should snap into place
Screw your motherboard onto your computer case. The board attaches to the case via eight clearly marked mounting holes scattered around the motherboard. Use screws to mount it to your computer’s chassis. Make sure risers are used (unless your case has risers built in) to ensure the motherboard does not make contact with the metal of the case, as this can cause a short circuit.
Install the processor heatsink base to the board. Insert the four white pins of the base into the corresponding holes located around the processor.
Install the processor. Raise the processor socket lever on the motherboard. Drop the processor into place ensuring the processor and the socket are properly aligned. Return the socket lever to its original position to lock the processor into place.
Install the processor’s heatsink. To do this, insert the four heatsink pins into the corresponding holes in the heatsink base. Press gently on each of the four pins to lock them in place with a click. Connect the heatsink’s power cord to the fan connector located to the left of the processor socket.
Connect all remaining PC parts. Refer to the hardware manuals to ascertain how to connect the parts to the motherboard.
Connect power to the motherboard. Take the 20-pin connector from your power supply and connect it to the appropriate socket on the left side of your motherboard.

Intel Motherboard Features

Intel motherboard designs come in four primary sizes, each with their own unique characteristics. Regardless of the wide differences, there are some general features which they all share to some degree or another: memory, expansion, storage, and integrated peripherals.

Size and socks are closely related in that the largest intel motherboard series on the market is designed specifically to host multiple Xeon-server class chips, while the tiniest ITX Intel motherboard series is only used for mobile CPU sockets or even Netbook/Nettop CPU sockets for Intel's ATOM family of budget CPUs. The middle two groups, ATX and Micro ATX, are both home to desktop CPU sockets, though there are a few server ATX motherboards, and at least one Micro ATX Intel motherboard featuring a socket designed for use with laptop CPUs. Obviously the larger the motherboard physically is, the more features it can integrate.

One of those features is memory sockets, which are becoming more and more important as 64-bit CPUs and 64-bit software continue to gain traction in the market. One of the main benefits of going 64-bit is the ability to address large amounts of system memory, but all that memory needs a place to plug into any Intel motherboard. This is where memory sockets come in, and larger Intel motherboards tend to have more of these than smaller ones because they tend to eat up relatively large amounts of physical space. Because most Intel motherboard designs support dual- or even triple-channel memory configurations, many memory sockets are found in pairs or in trios. The memory sockets are usually designed for very specific types of memory that operate within fairly limited tolerances when it comes to speed (MHz) and electrical requirements.

Memory and CPU sockets are not the only things that can be plugged into most Intel motherboards. All but the very smallest Intel motherboard designs feature slots designed to accommodate various add-in cards ranging from graphics adapters to high-end RAID array devices. These are generally referred to as 'slots' and come in AGP, ISA, PCI, PCI-X, PCIE, PCIE-G, and many other styles and types. Some types such as AGP are only useful for specific types of add-in modules, while other slots such as PCIE all general purpose and allow any Intel motherboard to be expanded and customized to perform any number of customized tasks.

Of course, many of those very tasks that once were exclusively handled by add-in boards are now part of the standard array of integrated features. Onboard sound, networking, USB controllers, SATA, and even advanced RAID controllers are all very common any almost every single Intel motherboard on the market. While some of these features such as RAID controllers come in many flavors, the general rule is that one gets what they pay for; a more expensive Intel motherboard will be more likely to have a more powerful integrated RAID controller. Some of these integrated features may work well for today, but having expansion slots helps to ensure that future upgradability and expansion without complete system replacement is possible if any portion of the integrated feature set is ever deemed insufficient.

Examining Serial ATA's (SATA) comprehensive set of features illustrates how SATA addresses the shortcomings of Parallel ATA and the reasons for SATA as an ideal choice for deployment in enterprise-level and external RAID subsystems.

Hot-Plug Capability

Parallel ATA is handicapped by its inability to support hot-plug drives. Any Parallel ATA-based RAID solution requires the host bus into which the degraded array's RAID controller is plugged to be powered off before the failed drive can be replaced. The alternative is to continue using the degraded array that offers reduced throughput capability. Clearly, neither option is acceptable in an enterprise-level environment where 24x7 availability and high performance are important requirements. It is easy to see why SCSI and Fibre Channel that support hot-plug drives have not yielded any ground to Parallel ATA in the enterprise space in spite of ATA's cost advantage. With its support for hot-plug drives, SATA remedies this deficiency.

Decreased Width and Increased Length of Cables

Parallel ATA's ATA/ATAPI-4 standard improved signal integrity by introducing the 80-conductor cable with 40 conductive elements serving as grounds to reduce cross talk between adjacent signal lines. Though the increase in the number of conductive elements did not increase cable width over the existing 40conductor cables due to the use of thinner gauge wires, the width of these cables nevertheless impeded airflow necessary to cool a server and constrained chassis design. Furthermore, Parallel ATA continued to limit cable length to 18 inches that prevented efficient routing of its cables within chassis to reduce clutter and improve accessibility to components in the system.

SATA addresses the limitations of Parallel ATA by more than doubling cable length to 1 meter and using data cables comprised of only seven conductors--a pair of differential signal lines for transmitting and another pair for receiving, and a ground between and at each end of the transmission and reception pairs. These thin, flexible cables (with connectors only 8mm wide) can be conveniently routed to multiple drives with a very small footprint, albeit with some constraints on its bend radius. This feature is highly attractive to servers using internal RAID with high drive density.

The term PBX stands for Private Branch eXchange. A PBX, sometimes known as a phone switch or phone switching device, is a device that connects office telephones in a business with the public telephone network. The initial central functions of a PBX were to route incoming calls to the appropriate extension in an office, and to share phone lines between extensions. Over time, many functions have been added, such as automated greetings for callers using recorded messages, dialing menus, connections to voicemail, automatic call distribution (ACD), teleconferencing, and more.

The hardest feature to provide has been Automatic Call Distribution (ACD), and usually vendors charge a premium for products that include this feature. Other features that often get left out include integrated voice messaging, conference bridging for conferencing multiple outside calls, and detailed real-time system monitoring. Many times some of these features are not part of the base PBX system but can be purchased through add-on system modules.

so basically the cost will escalate depending on the number of modules that you require for your solution.

How To Install Telephone Points

There are two simple rules to follow with telephone extensions:

1. The socket your telephone line is connected to (from outside) is called the master socket, and from it, slave sockets are connected

2. The new cable you are to install MUST be connected IDENTICALLY at both ends (ie. connection 1 to 1, 2 to 2....)

The new cable you are going to need to connect your new 'slave' socket to your existing socket must be a telephone cable (4 pair cable recommended). Telephone cables consist of pairs of wires twisted together (known as 'twisted pair') and is the reason why the cable is referred to as '# pair cable'.

As mentioned above, some telephone company's use split front telephone sockets - if this is the case, only remove the half cover by removing the front screws and pulling forward the cover. On the reverse of the cover are the connections for extensions to be connected to

In the event of a problem after you have installed your extension, leave this cover off and plug your phone into the socket inside the cover, to check your phone line is still working, before looking further at why your extension is dead!

As shown in the diagram above, you can connect up to 4 additional phone sockets to your line, in any formation (they do not have to be directly connected to the master socket).

Do not try to connect more than 4 additional sockets to your phone line if you intend to connect phones to all of the sockets, as one phone line has the capacity to ring only 4 phones (at 1 REN value each). If you intend to plug something in that will not ring (ie an auto dialer), then this does not apply.

Points to note

The reference to the number of phones you can connect to a single phone line only applies if each phone has a REN value of 1 (check the underside of your phone and look for the REN value).

Your incoming phone line will only have two cores connected (White/Blue and White/Blue used commonly). Once your line has passed through your master socket, an additional cable will be used. It is important that this cable is connected! This cable is the earth for the ringer signal, and without it, all phone extensions will fail to ring on incoming calls! Follow the instructions detailed on this site to guarantee a successful installation!

So, in such cases, installing business phone systems is great option. Not only does it save you time and money in the office, but also prevents you from losing out on potential business, even when you are away. One such office phone system is the PABX system, which stands for Private Automatic Branch Exchange.

PABX

PBX is an acronym for Private Branch Exchange and it stands for a telephone exchange that is used in business or the office as opposed to one that is used as a common carrier or telephone company that operates for many businesses or for the general public.

PBX is also referred to as PABX-Private Automatic Branch Exchange and EPABX-Electronic Private Automatic Branch Exchange.

PBXs are used to make connections amongst the internal telephones of a private organisation, which are usually business oriented. They are also connected to a public switched telephone network (PSTN) through trunk lines. As they incorporate telephones, modems, fax machines, and many more parts, the general term "extensions" that is given is referred to the end point on the branch.

PBXs are differentiated from the key systems in which the users of the key system manually select the outgoing lines, whereas the PABX phone system selects it automatically. There are some hybrid systems that combine both the features. In the beginning, the main advantage of PBXs was the cost saved on internal phone calls, handling the circuit switching and thus locally reduced charges for the local phone service. Over the time, as PBXs increased in their popularity, it started offering many more services than the operator network, like call forwarding, extension dialling and hunt groups. In the early 1960s, there was a simulated PBX known as Centrex, which provided many similar features as the central telephone exchange.

How it all began

There were two significant developments during the 1990s and it led to new types of PBX systems. One of the developments was the immense growth of the data network and the increased understanding in the public about packet switching. Companies needed packet switched networks for data and to use them for public telephones was very tempting and with the global availability of the Internet, the system made packet switched communication became even more attractive.

These factors then lead to the development of the VoIP Phone System, which stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. Another development that leads to the hosted PBXs was that most companies realised that they did not have the core competence to handle the telephony of their companies and they required it to be done by someone else. Thus, in a hosted PBX setup, the PBX is situated and managed by a telephone provider and the features and calls are delivered through the Internet. The customer has to just sign up instead of buying the hardware. But today there are many companies that are setting up their own PBX systems, which are available with companies like ITT Communications.
