CAN I JUST SCREAM?

NO REALLY.

It's not even funny how much I've missed this blog. I know I posted twice in May (Ithink?), but that's pretty bad according to me. I like to get at least two posts up every week and because I was busy with le internship, I couldn't pull out time for the blog. The thing is, during college, I always try and make time for the blog, but during the internship it was another story. Considering it was a newspaper, the timings are obviously not normal so I could never make a schedule. Of course given the fact that I could not sacrifice my sleep because it would lead to unbearable migraines which I cannot deal with while out on assignment - it was pretty much impossible to blog.

But I must say that being away has showed me how much I love it. I will truly always come back here because I can rant on, not worry about how stupid I sound etc etc. Of course shooting for the blog was thoroughly missed too.

Moral of the story: I miss my blog and now I'm back.

Which brings me to another aspect of my thoughts. During this internship, I've had crazy rough times, but amazingly beautiful ones as well. It has been a mixed bag, but I've surely taken a lot out of it and had many realizations as well. When I chose arts, my relatives (extended family) were pretty skeptical because I was the first person in my entire family to be doing something like that. Of course later when I chose to do communication studies the skepticism increased - NO ONE HAD EVEN THOUGHT OF DOING THIS FIELD in the family before. While my parents and brother were with me through and through in this, my relatives just nodded and secretly wondered if I'd end up lost.

I don't really know the end, but I know that after they saw my articles in the newspaper, after they saw me running around, I saw the gleam in their eyes. They know too, now, that I'm in the field I love. I'm doing communication studies because it's something I've envisioned myself doing for the longest time and it's where I belong.

There are times when I'll probably cry and say how much I hate everything and even "I don't belong", but everyone goes through those times and it's all thanks to that overly emotional-hormonal-brain of ours that we slur weird things. But at the end of the day, I wake up feeling happy that I didn't give in to the herd mentality and choose science or commerce, only because I can be an engineer or an accountant and be supposedly 'secured' my entire life (I do know a lot of people who chose these fields for the love of it, but I know way too many people who are doing it because their PARENTS or FAMILY told them to).

I don't want to be assured of being secure. I don't want that guaranteed stability. I want to find out my path myself, I want to be lost and drag myself back to follow my dreams, I want to be confused and finally figure it out myself, I want to know that I might be unemployed so I'll have to work hard, I want to feel that everything in life isn't easy and work for what I have, I want to write till I die, I want to do so many things...but I wouldn't have, had I made the wrong choice.

Today, I just want to say thanks for being with me. You, and everyone else.

Thank you because you have been there supporting me, through all of this.

Laced in memories

'Pack light,' they say.

I'm one of those people who carries her world in her bag. You never know when you'll need what okay? But for the recent trip to Ooty, I decided to keep it minimal. ~~I packed light.~~ Ok maybe not light, but it was lighter than what I usually do. I played smart by taking outfit changing pieces, versatile ones, lots of necklaces and accessories to dress the same outfit differently etc. It worked.

I ended up not having to carry a heavy bag, but at the same time didn't compensate on my style. Of course I even had enough space to push in some shopping.

This look is the evening look of the first day. I was supposed to do the morning one first but look at the gorgeousness of this lace top and the necklace, and my darling shoes. Not to forget the awesome background. I wore the gray top and black knee length cotton pants through the day and changed the other details on the outfit.

Since this look was for the evening and we were just roaming around sightseeing, I decided to wear lace. Lace can be very dressy which is perfect to add to a simple outfit like this. Of course the gorgeous gold accessories made my work easier.

Can we just take a few moments to talk about Stalkbuylove? Along with great collections, they now have a customization option. What I'm wearing in this post was customized for my size. So the top fits me perfectly! How amazing is that? No more size woes. Also, you guys must check out their accessories. The necklaces are to die for. Of course, the new collection is pretty amazing too.

Weave it, Werk it

The internship has begun. I have to say, Journalism isn't what you think it is when you'e a kid. And the next time someone says: 'Oh, you're doing an internship in a newspaper? That must be fun, do you do work?' I WILL PUNCH THEM. Trust me.

The best part about internships is that you get to see what each profession is like before you actually get into it entirely. So it's a great learning experience.

I shot this outfit during the exams with the intention of blogging. But, I just got loaded with so much work that I couldn't. The outfit is rather subtle for my likes. I mean, I played around with the hair as I always do, and kept the rest of the outfit rather basic because I've been into plain things lately. I think it's something I'd wear to a flea market. Or the likes of it.

MAX Fashion has a great range of Spring/Summer clothing. It's super colourful, and very seasonal. You must check it out. Found some lovely pieces. From printed pants to colourful crop tops and jackets. Even their kurtis are really nice.

However, I wish they had bigger sizes. Hoping they hear this and try do something about it! A couple of friends have been saying the same to me too, after they checked out the collection.

Her dream was now reality

She took a step into the light. It was a new path, uncharted territory. She looked at the Frangipanis as the sun pierced her hazel eyes.

She had no makeup on. Not a hint of pink or blue. Bare, yet clothed in maroon. The light dancing through the strands of brown and black on her head. Long chains dangled from her neck and hit against each other making music. Her nails were painted pink and mauve and stood boldly against the black geometric print wallet she clutched.

The uncut grass poked her feet, but she walked on, in search of the dream. Slowly she began running towards the forest. The animals passed her, unable to get through the bubble she'd formed with her power. A nasty blue creature tried to snatch her chains but she blew it away with goodness.

She ran without a break, the magic clasped tightly in her palm.

Then it was there. The ray of hope. Her dream lay right in front of her sparkling in all its glory. She crawled towards it with all her might. Her knees bristled against the hard surface and blood oozed. Her eyes were red with pain and struggle. But her lips curved into a smile.

It was over. The struggle.

Her dream was now reality.

Let The Anchor Be

Hello there,

I'm writing this post as I pack my bags and throw in some last minute essentials like shades and a hat. Yes, I'm off for a weekend getaway. A short one at that. I'm currently running all around my room and it looks nothing less than a mess. Trying to get everything ready and catch some sleep which I know won't happen. I blabber too much. YES? NO? Okay, don't tell me :P

Thought I should show you this outfit before I scoot. It's pretty simple actually. Something I might consider wearing to the internship minus the makeup. Very writer-yy. Know? Must be the least I've spoken in a post. I'll let the outfit speak for itself?

I don't need to ask them to stay, because I know they will.

Without asking them to help me through tough times, they offer their worthiest advice.

I've never asked them to make me laugh or cry, but they never disappoint.

Books are more than just pieces of paper held together with a string.

They are life.

Ethereal Passion

Chocolate brown skin, icy blue eyes, gorgeous hair that was perfectly tucked behind his ears and a hint of mischief in his breath-taking smile – he inched towards me. I didn’t jump, my heart didn’t skip a beat, I didn’t die a thousand deaths, and I didn't feel like I was in heaven. His perfection was untimely and depressing. His beauty was painful. His breath-taking scent was impossible to forget. His sensuous voice was like as melodious as a singing bird, and his words fell right into my ears and touched the depths of my heart. I looked away from his heavenly presence, towards the sea that lay beyond the open windows.

He got closer and now I could feel his feather like body on my pale skin. Suddenly everything seemed warmer. I could feel the sweat slide down my midriff. Air walked away, as if giving us privacy. I couldn’t help but turn. He smiled at me as if saying, “It’ll be okay.” I couldn’t hold myself any longer. I had to do this – for him. I couldn’t control those twirling hormones. The prickles on my skin stood up as if protesting against my resistance. The sun moved and paved way for a purple-orange sunset. Everything was perfect, as if nature wanted to give this to us.

Heart defeated the brain and I kissed him.

His lips fit perfectly with mine, like it was the lost piece of a puzzle. He wove his hands around my bony neck and pulled me closer to his chest. I could feel his cold abs against my sweat and it was a remarkable juxtaposition. Tears crawled out of my lids and fell against his shoulders. I didn’t want to ruin this, but there was no other way. He didn’t let go. He held on tighter, as if in fear of separation. I fastened my legs around his hips and surrendered to his touch. The night blanketed us and silence enveloped the room.

I saw his beauteous existence as the sun shone in the morning. A smile across his face and his hands intertwined with mine. I moved closer and rested my head against his heart.

…and then I felt it – nothing.

My fears had materialized.

I wouldn’t feel his breath again. I wouldn’t see his eyes shining with mischief. I wouldn’t feel his beautiful body against mine. I wouldn’t hear his mesmerizing voice. I wouldn’t be hypnotized by his touch.

All I’d have is his body – full of life, yet so lifeless.

It Happened One Afternoon

Exams are overrrr.

The joy of being done with them is just amazing. Not to forget that you're done with the sleepless nights and late night binge eating. Through the exams I hardly had a wink of sleep, it was rather funny how I'd be awake till 6 am trying to study and then go write an exam at 8.30 am. I almost forgot what sleep was. I'm not going to complain about the dark circles because I brought it upon myself. But I can't help it. I'm a night person, an owl (according to my psychology text). I just have to study in the night. Are you a night person or a morning person (a lark)?

Point is: I'M BACK!

Moving on from aimless exam talk, I was reading a book when this image randomly flashed into my head. I don't even know what inspired me, but I know that it was a little Old Hollywood inspired. Not sure how and why, but it happened. Instantly I put together the outfit I envisioned and voila I have a look for you. I had too much fun doing the hair. I've always liked change, maybe not permanent so what better way than to be able to make your hair short with some hair techniques. Added this black gown and a striped shirt to finish the look with a mix of modern and old styles. What do you think?

Ramp Ready TRESses

Hello there,

Today, I wanted to address two questions I'm often asked:

"What's your hair care routine?" & "How do you do such different hairstyles in each post?"

Let me tell you this: My hair care routine changes depending on the day and the type of hair I want for that day. Makes sense? I know that you're supposed to stick to one shampoo, but let's deal with it, I don't. I have three favourite shampoos that I often go to. One of them is undoubtedly TRESemmé.

When they first came out in the market, I was instantly drawn to their black packaging. I'm a total sucker for black. Also, their prices were pocket friendly and well, who doesn't want to experiment?

I remember trying the Frizz Control shampoo and instantly fell in love with it. It was during winter when the weather was all dry and literally sucked the life out of my hair. TRESemmé came to my rescue. Then they came out with Hair Fall Control too, which again proved to be just as amazing as Frizz Control. At first I bought the tiny bottles but later, I got the huge ones cause I knew I'd be sticking with TRESemmé for a long time. So when they came out with this salon style campaign, I honestly wanted to try and see if it would work. I know this sounds like a commercial, but it's not. Trust me, it does work. I don't know what's about it that makes it so amazing but after a shower with TRESemmé your hair has so much volume and shape.

Recently I've been experimenting a lot more that usual with hair. Considering it's summer, I cannot tell you how hard it is to have long hair. It's all over the place and you get all sweaty and Bangalore for some reason has been giving out way too much heat this Summer. I literally have to keep my hair off my face all the time, and I cannot imagine not wearing buns and braids. When I watched the TRESemmé India interactive style videos (click on it to experience it yourself), I was motivated all the more to go figure and try out newer hairdos. TRESemmé now gives us girls the opportunity to fulfill our dreams of having salon like hair at home, and of course treat that street like your runway.

Here's what came out of my attempts at trying new hairdos especially for the summer, looking chic, stylish and at the same time feeling comfortable. (Since I have wavy hair, I stuck with the Hair fall control and Frizz control for these looks)

Voluminous Quirky Braid

I learnt this easy way to achieve a voluminous braid through their amazing style videos in a few seconds. It's not only simple, but extremely fun to style as well. You can wear it with a long flowy blouse, or even a pretty dress and twirl around to look dainty and gorgeous. I'm calling it quirky because I added the little hand made flower clips to the braid to give it some colour and a twist. It goes without saying that TRESemmé products added the instant volume.

Twist and Twirl

I used two of the tutorials and mixed it into one for this hairstyle. The Athena braid and the side sweep mixed with my classic low messy bun. This hairdo is great to channel your inner boho girl with the twists and twirls. You can wear it to the beach or even flea markets. It'll be an absolute hit with your friends because it looks so complicated but literally takes 3 minutes. Wear it with a maxi or a printed top to bring out the best!

Classic Messy Bun

Who doesn't love buns? HAHA. I'm not talking about the food, I'm talking about the one on you hair. They are fuss free, classy and help you add that oomph factor to any outfit, simple or dressy. A classic messy bun like this adds an effortless touch and gives a great structure to your face. Again, it looks pretty complicated but took me 5 minutes, bobby pins and a little teasing. That simple? Wear this with denims or even a formal shirt to work and you can be casual and work-y at the same time! Doesn't it look like something off the ramp?

Festive Bun:

This look takes 2 seconds if you've achieved the previous look. All you do is add a little bling to your bun with a bun clip. These days you get the fanciest ones in the markets. From bling bobby pins to clips like the one I'm wearing below. Everything is jazzy and you can instantly transform your work hair into festive hair. Everyone at that wedding is going to ask you which salon you visit. You should just say: "I use TRESemmé" :) Simple? You can also add real flowers to your hair to enhance the bun and bring out the ethnicity.

Mega Bob

I had so much fun doing this look. While it isn't as simple as the previous look, it did take me about fifteen minutes which is pretty cool know? A lot of times we wonder how models have short hair in one show and long ones in the next. I'm not saying they don't use extensions, but a lot of times they use easy hair tricks like I did to achieve the look. When I want a change and don't want to cut my hair, I go ahead and try such things. Fun know? Added a flower hair band and I'm set to go. This look reminds me of a vintage poster for some reason. You can wear the mega bob with just anything- gowns, kurtis, tees and what not. Stun your friends with a day's transformation minus chopping your tresses.

I have FIVE new RAMP READY HAIRSTYLES thanks to TRESemmé. I sure wouldn't have thought of trying this if it wasn't for IB's amazing initiative to rope in TRESemmé! Thanks for giving me a chance to feel like a diva with my #TRESemmeRampReady hair.

The Print Miss

I'm actually writing this post as I stare at the pile of books strewn across the bed, waiting to be studied. Yes, my exams are one (end semester) and I will still blog. That's how much I love my blog and you guys. <3

I'll save the rants for another post but here's something I tried the other day and thought I had to document it to show you le stuff. Also, follow me on Bloglovin' and leave your links below for me to check it out. You don't want to miss out on my future posts know?

How to wear Print on Print?

1. Try playing around with the same colour family. Especially when you are just starting this trend, make it a point to use colours of one family.

2. If you'd like to be bold and experiment with contrasting colours, go for contrasting prints, maybe small and big ones.

3. Have at least one solid colour in your outfit. This will definitely help you look subtle and not so in-your-face (not that it's a bad thing). Solid tones bring about a great blend of texture with prints.

4. Jackets, blazers, vests, scarves and such outerwear are amazing for print on print outfits. They add a dimension to your print on print. You can also experiment with a patterned blazer and pant and a solid tee.

5. Who said print on print stops with clothing? There's no limits. Go ahead and play with prints on your accessories, shoes and even phone covers. There's no stopping you!

6. Avoid mixing more than 2-3 prints together. While they do not stop themselves on the runway, I personally feel it looks a lil' weird and overboard after 3 prints. However, you can do so if you feel you can carry it off with style.

7. Walk confidently and be sure of what you're wearing. Your confidence is your best accessory.

What I've done for this look is: I decided to play with prints. So I worked with a circus print and a tribal-esque chevron one. Added a solid cobalt blue colour which was common to all the pieces of the outfit, paired with a scarf of the same colour with light hints of floral lace. Went with white shoes to tone it down and wavy hair in a side hair-do. Added eye shadow and a lighter shade of red for the lips to add colour to the face, however as you can see, the eye shadow doesn't take away the focus from the outfit because I didn't cross the crease line. Toned down the eye liner with almost a thin non existent line.

Elle Fashionwear - Spring/Summer 2013

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you'd know that Elle Fashionwear held a Chic Instinct meet for Bangalore bloggers. It was nothing less than fun, with makeovers and macaroons; tarts and colours. Must say that it was worth the long distance that I had to travel to get there. The gorgeous folks at PR Pundit welcomed me with smiles and gracious compliments and I knew that I was instantly going to enjoy this. Absolute delight interacting with Elle staff as well as the lovely people at Jean-Claude Biguine who gave us ladies a makeover.

We tried on the stunning pieces from the new Spring/Summer collection at the brand new store in Indira Nagar and of course, got some pictures clicked. More about what I wore and the after makeover look in the next post or so. However, I was in awe with the collection and rather than chatting and dabbling in such things, I began clicking with my camera. The pieces were unique, summery and absolutely delightful to wear. The prints are appropriate for people of all sizes. The only problem I had was with the sizing. They have sizes till about XL in most pieces. However, the first thing I look for in a store these days is sizing. So, I noticed that they didn't have XXL and so on in many pieces. Of course I expressed my concern to the staff and they graciously accepted it and said that they are working on it. What I loved was, they said: "We want everyone to be able to wear Elle. There shouldn't be a person who walks into our store and doesn't find anything to wear." That should be the attitude. I hope that they get bigger sizes in the future :)

However, the collection was nothing short of brilliant. With a beautiful blend of neon and pastel and fruity and floral, their Spring/Summer line will have you falling in love. I'm definitely saving up to invest in some of these pieces.

This song has been everywhere for a while now. I remember first hearing it the day it came out. I fell in love with it instantly. There's something about it that'll keep you going back to it. You'll have it on loop like I did. Co-written by Mikky Ekko and Justin Parker, the lyrics will pierce your heart in all the right places. Beautiful tunes and gorgeous words morphed together, you must listen to this.

2. Home Again- Michael Kiwanuka

I think this song didn't get the recognition it actually deserves. The music, his voice and the lyrics. Home Again has everything going for it. Yet, it's like the underdog. You'll feel kicked and pumped as you go on listening to it. There's times when everyone feels low, you feel down and sad. Listen to this song! It'll revive you. You'll feel strong again.

Simple Plan always reminds me of high school. I remember loving them like crazy in the 9th grade or so...and then it just stopped. Flower Head

When I came up with this outfit idea, it was 2 am. I'd just finished a packet of Oreo and a bottle of iced water. Thoughts flashed through my head. 'Why not get a flower head?,' I thought.

...and then it happened.

Mid way, the flowers started falling of my head and it made for the perfect flower rain. Except, you can't really see it. Considering, I didn't ask mom to do stop motion or anything.

If you're wondering why I cropped the top (literally). It's because I love crop tops. Besides, I always look for ways to bring about twists to normalcy. So crop your top in 4 seconds. Cool. NO? Faiine.

2. New blog layout and design! You must have noticed that I've played around with the blog layout. Figured out how to work with basic HTML and sat up till 2 am working on it. Tell me what you think? I was going for a plain, spring look. My mood and tastes vary according to the weather et all. Of course, given it's study holidays where you're supposed to do everything else except study.

Coming to today's outfit.

There's a story behind each outfit and the inspiration. As I've said before, inspiration is everything. I don't really know what inspired me to do this, however I just felt like it one fine day and went ahead and did it. Mom was pretty surprised as she began shooting, and even asked me what I had in mind.

Mom: What are you wearing?

Me: You know me *grins*

Mom: Yes, but this is just so different.

Me: Muahahaha.

Mom: I'm not scared of you.

Me: You are, you are, let's click pictures.

Mom: Fine, go ahead and amuse me.

Now you're freaked aren't you? Well, I shot this a while back but for some reason it kept getting postponed. I showed a picture from the shoot to my friends and they were pretty flabbergasted too. It's funny. Usually, people make comments on my outfits. Good. Bad. Weird. Something? For once, no one actually said anything. But, I gathered a lot from their eyes and expressions.

Anyhoo, I shan't bug you anymore. Skip to the pictures, shall we?

Black lips are a very fall thing. I know, I know. I'm stuck in fall and I refuse to move. But, when have trends stopped me from wearing what I want to, when I want to?

Paired my dancey maxi with a comfy sweatshirt, braided my hair and added black lips and winged eyes to mix a ton of people into one look. The girl next door, Lady Gaga and of course ME.

They say:

Don't do dramatic eyes and lips together. Choose one. BROKE THE RULE.

People on the bulky side should avoid wearing skirts with lots of pleats and volume. BROKE THE RULE.

Don't mix many different styles into one. BROKE THE RULE. (I've got such a contrast of styles in this outfit).

Rule breaker much?

Time is funny. Sometimes it's unbearably slow; and other times it's zooming by. Funny how somethings seem so hard because of lack of time. Funny how you might have to compensate on doing one thing you love, for another you love equally Funny how time won't budge - 24 hours is all you've got.

Let's jump to the pictures right away? I've got some summer hippie vibes being channeled. :P Don't you want to see?!

Today, I'm going to introduce you to Indiebazaar.

Indiebazaar is an online retail store that provides independent artists and designers a platform to express their creativity. They deliver amazing goodies to your door and help make the entire online shopping experience all the more unique for the seller and the buyer.

When they sent over goodies, I instantly instagrammed/facebooked them. :D Literally like delivering smiles, it arrived safely with great packaging and within 3 days. Obviously, I was overwhelmed.

What's great about Indiebazaar is the collection. They have such a vast collection of shoes, bags, wallets, apparel, and even home decor. Everything has a touch of art and creativity and you can fill your wardrobes and homes with these splashes of colour!

Their website is pretty easy to navigate through as well. I must say, I loved their shoe and jewellery collection. Loved the chunky necklaces and the pretty and different shoes that make them stand out from many other websites out there today.

From traditional and ethnic to modern and western, you can find everything on Indiebazaar and it caters to everyone. What's more? They have stationary! If you know me, you'd know of my loveeee for stationary. Was I excited or what, when I saw that they had stationary. Such pretty ones at that. I've added so many of them to my wishlist and will soon be buying them.

The mix of quirk and classy is what makes Indiebazaar a great place to shop at.

Bye Bye Split Ends, Hello Beautiful Hair!

The importance of braids in a girl's life is undeniable. If you've known me long enough, you'd know of my undying love for long hair and pretty braids.

When I was a child I used to sit in front of grandma and wait for her to braid my hair. After which, I'd carefully remain still so as to keep the braid intact. She'd braid my soft and silky hair into two side braids and add ribbons at the end of each. I would nod my head to see them jiggle and play around the entire house. My cousins remind me of this image till date because my braid was bigger than my head. It's like a love story that's still on...

Though I'm not that little girl anymore, I still love braids. Constantly on the look out for new braids and being called the 'braid queen' just goes on to show how I love braids. From fishtails to boho ones, I can wear a braid everyday and never get bored. The other day, I'd worn a fountainesque fishtail braid to college and someone asked me: "You do this to your hair everyday? So much patience?" and I replied, "Braids make me happy. Why wouldn't I like to braid my hair everyday if it makes me smile?"

Trust me, there's nothing you CAN'T do with a braid. From formal to casual, flea markets to luncheons, you can rock a braid anywhere.

But all this is irrelevant when your hair isn't braid-worthy. Right?

As a child I always had medium length hair. But it was soft, silky and definitely split end free. Obviously if you've seen pictures you'd know that for the past year or two I've been going strong with long hair. It's something about the beauty it adds to your personality that draws me towards it, repeatedly. However, it's not split end free all the time.

Long hair has a tendency to be prone to many problems. Most importantly split ends. With the heat, pollution and chemicals we put our hair through; it tends to become home to split ends.

Split ends are a common problem for many people. From short hair to long hair, everyone goes through this phase at some point or the other. This occurs when the protective cuticle is destroyed at the end of the hair. The hair tends to split into two or more strands. Many people say split ends cannot be cured unless you chop them off and get rid of them.

Dove surprised me yet again with a new solution for split ends.

Hello,

I must say that the impromptu blogging vacation or break was amazing. WHO AM I KIDDING? I missed blogging tons. So let me be honest, college happened, assignments, tests and hence no time happened. Thinking about the scenario, I can't really say it was a vacation. I haven't been on the blogosphere for over two weeks and it's March! This year indeed flew by fast know?

However, I have been working a lot on my writing and also doing shoots for the blog etc. So now that I'm all pumped and kicked to be back, there's going to be a lot of posts. Sometimes I just get so exhausted after college that I just want to sleep. But I can't sleep, so I just lounge around. #LIKEABOSS.

Why you should look like Rainbow Barf?

What's weird is that, if I told someone they looked like rainbow barf they'd probably be offended to the highest degree. See? My sense of humour is just creepy. The Verdict:

When I get a book I always Google it to find out more about the author and some unknown interesting aspects about it. On doing the same with Jack Is Back In Corporate Carnival, I realized that there was another book in the series ie Jack Patel's Dubai Dreams. After reading the summery of the first book, I realized that this might not be a sequel, just a book with the same character. I have to say that I couldn't stop myself from making connections with The Bankster because of the obvious corporate connection. Obviously however, there are pretty different from each other.

Jack Is Back In Corporate Carnival in a few words is about corporate struggles, family dramas, friendships. You get to see Jack's professional and personal life and experience the roller coaster ride that his life is. From the stingy departments at work to his funny friend Kitch, you will love the book for the one liners and humour that it brings to Jack's life. I haven't read P.G. Bhaskar before, but I do know that through this book his style has been very easy to understand. Of course his humour is pretty amusing along with the constant dedication to keep you awake and wanting to read more.

No,' I said quickly. On the verge of celebrating my first wedding anniversary, I was a veteran of twelve months at disposing of such questions.

The travels from Africa to Chennai are one to watch out for. Jack's annoying and tough clients. I found the 'Zulu' language aspect of it very interesting. Keen to learn the language much? The reality in the relationships displayed with a mix of fiction makes the book very easy to believe and read. Of course the power struggles that are constantly hovering in the corporate world are portrayed well through the book. It claims to be the 'Funniest Book of the Year'. I wouldn't say 'Funniest' but it was pretty funny. With football that affects his bank, helps his friend's brother find true love, insane scenarios with his clients; the author brings out one humourous moment after another and leaves you wanting for more.

Little details in Jack's life are described with great clarity and this descriptive style of writing gives the author a thumbs up from my side. I did enjoy the little para gliding symbol at the corner of each page descending as you read more. Kitch and Galiya, Jack and Mina are to watch out for along with the witty events that unfold as you turn each page.

Go catch this book over the week if you want some humour in your life and delve into the Jack Patel's!

Grey Rabbit

Hello there gorgeous people,

I've been submerged under piles and heaps of work and assignments considering it is the end of another semester. Let us not talk about it?

Lately seems like everyone is going on diets. Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with it, but honestly sometimes it just gets overboard that I'm like AAAAAH. "Dude, I'm going on a diet. I need to get rid of 15 kgs," one person says. "Sure man, I also need to! Let's diet!" the other one replies. And both of them are perfectly normal for their age and height.

Today we were talking about body image in class and I instantly recollected the various instances where I've spoken about how essential it is to feel comfortable in your body. I know it is important to stay fit, (which I need to do as well) but going overboard with diets is horrific. There was this period when one of my friends would just eat 'a' chip all day. This is disturbing. I cannot get over the fact that the society will never overcome the perception of beauty in its head. Why does it have to be thin and fair? (Let us not even get to colour, that is another issue in itself) Why can't people feel comfortable in their skin? Why is it so hard to accept your body when you were born that way (Line from Lady Gaga).

I don't think I'll respect the society till we stop with all these labels.

Moving on, today's outfit is rather simple in terms of appearance and perfect for the undecided cold weather that Bangalore has. I love beanies. I love winter. I love winter wear. Considering we don't have a proper winter here, mom says I should consider moving to a cold place looking at my extensive winter wardrobe. What I love best about this outfit is the dress. Obviously I paired it with opaque tights. I know they look like leggings but trust me, they aren't. Also wore my beautiful thrift find coin necklace and bow.

White, Red and Floral this Valentine's Day!

Inspiration is funny. It comes along at times you least expected and changes your life in a way you'd never have imagined.

Over the past few weeks I have come about to learn so much and have had many 'realization' moments where I've just randomly gone into retrospection and figured things out. Thinking about it seems creepy but they've definitely helped me understand things around me and sometimes even myself better. I think that's necessary, for survival. Comprehension is essential to live.

Moving on from that; I'm here with my second and final look for Valentine's Day. While the previous look was a little unconventional with using non-traditional colours, I decided to have the pink, red and white combination in this outfit for those who want to go the Valentine-sy way. I've just paired this vintage red skirt with a floral cut off top. Added the cardigan because it was super chilly and if you are going out for a date, this will be perfect. Wore my comfortable loafers because nothing feels more amazing. Wear a chunky necklace to finish the look or you could even wear a circle scarf!

For the hair I went for a subtle bouffant, but you could go for a more dramatic one too. For the lips, I went with something in between a pink and red. Burgundy or baby pink are great colours too this valentine's day! Don't be afraid to experiment. Feel confident and walk with style.

Retro Valentine

Hello there gorgeous people,

Valentine's Day, is over-rated according to some, while others count days to this holiday. I'm not particularly a fan of it, but the reason I love it is because stores fill their racks with heart goodies and I get to pick up tons of them because I love hearts! Anyhow, I thought it was only fair that I do valentine posts for people who are celebrating it. I'll be showing you two looks that you can wear this valentine's day. Will be doing this over a series of two posts. This being the first one.

Valentine's day is usually associated with red, hearts, roses and kisses. While I usually would wear something like that; I think this season you should do something radical and maybe not wear what everyone's wearing. If I was to go for a dinner date, or perhaps a formal valentine dinner with a bunch of friends, I'd wear something like this.

What I've done for this look is: I've picked up a very retro-esque top with ruffles and pleats and to go with it I've gone for a side bun with a hint of curls in the front to frame my face. And the hair is also something very retro. To add to the elements, I've paired this black and white colour blocked top with white loafers. Wore my boot cut pants because I wanted to give this a back-in-time feel. Finished it with some valentine-y ness by adding the heart scarf and purple sling! And you're good to go. My theme was purple, black and white. You could even pick perhaps greens and blues and add white for a softer effect.

For the face, like me you could just apply basic eye shadow and maybe some mascara to add to the flirtacious look. Don't forget to add some pink lips to finish your look.

Shine bright like a diamond

First of all if you've come here thinking the post is going to be about Rihanna's latest number: Diamonds; then you are wrong. Obviously I've talked about it in one of my past Music Monday posts but this post definitely ain't about it.

However this post is definitely sparkly, shiny and all about YOU.

I was recently invited to hang out at the You Shine store in Bangalore. I remember You Shine when there was this period on twitter when they had just started off and everyone loved them and were talking about their trendy pieces at affordable prices. Often these days it is hard to find trendy jewelry and accessories at prices that won't damage your pocket too much. You Shine comes into picture at this point. With a vast collection and an unbelievable variety they have spot on accessories that are constantly changing with trends.

You Shine is the brainchild of Monika Pal Sood and Ashish Sood, they not only have stores all over the country but also operate from an online portal for those who wish to be treated luxuriously with amazing collections at their doorstep. With 4 stores in Delhi, and a store each in Karnataka and Maharashtra they are growing extremely fast.

This tasseled bag was a beauty, I couldn't stop holding it and running around. Not to forget the envelope slings. So preeettty.

You gaiiiz know my compulsive obsession with owls? Well if not here's me telling you. I had to capture all the owls at the store. What a delight!

The staff at the store were extremely helpful and made looking around a lot more easier for me. Mom was eyeing a few pieces too and we both definitely have a mental list of what we are going to buy the next time we head there.
