Preparing for a new domain

Everybody says Wordpress is brillliant, so I got to try it out. There're many BSPs(blogging service provider) based on Wordpress, such as blogsome.com, blogthing.com and blugginout.com, but all those BSPs restricted certain functional widgets and css editor and left a few space for your DIY.

To fully experience Wordpress, I managed to get a free space on byethost.com and bought the domain "nickyu.cn" for $12/year at net.cn. This site is positioned to Wordpress blog and perhaps I'll transfer my blogs there someday soon.

But all things seems in a mess now. The dns will take 24hours to take effect and when changed to the dns of byethost, it will also take 24hours... And I'm kind of confused about the files uploaded to byethost, all files in the sub-folder(alias/domain folder) doesn't work. I've mailed my problem to the webmaster and now waiting for their response. Now what I get to do is to have some tea and rest because it's three a.m. there:)

Chinese University provides student dorms, and probably in most universities, all students are asked to live there (for more convenience in administration). But in fact, a few students, especially the higher grade (up to 10% in my university), moved out for more convenience, comfortable and freedom.

I've been living in the rented house from a teacher since one and a half year ago. The reason for my moving out is that I've been suffering Migraine since I was a child, which is sensitive to noise and many other complex factors, so a small room with six man, one TV and certain computers absolutely don't suit me. When I made the decision, I consulted several seniors whether I should move out. And most of them are negative. But I insisted that my specific situation is in no way they could thought of. So I'm out.

Our dorms

This house belongs to a teacher of our university and it locates in our university's residencial district for faculty. Many services here are better than other public districts, for example we got fifteen days earlier for heat supply in November. This house has five rooms and I've lived in three of them, from smaller to larger.

The room I'm renting now is the largest of the house with balcony and a air-conditioner, and costs ￥220 per month.

Inspiration of New Oriental School

Study has always been tiring for those lazy people. Unfortunately, most of us belongs to this party, at least I suppose it's right.

The experience in Beijing New Oriental School(Site) this summer is quite memorable to me. Because the study environment there is encouraging and teachers are admirable and learned. So whenever I'm tired of reading, I'll look at the photo which was taken with one of my teacher and room mates after the summer course.

This remind me of my teacher Fan Meng's words: Whenever you decided to achieve something, all cosmic existences will help. So wake your inner Universe up!

Yesterday dusk, when I was dozing on the bed which was beside the door to the balcony, I indistinctively felt cool air from outside was breezing my skin. But sleepiness made me too tied to get up to shut the door. Negligence made me suffered from a fever of 39C in the night.

Gua sent me to School hospital just to find the gate of the building was closed. Our school hospital, located near the students' dormitory district to bring convenience to students, has around twenty staff above all and is responsible to the administration of university. Since it's university's property, some kind of bureaucracy is unavoidable. We knocked at door to woke the door-keeper up. She opened the door and woke up a doctress for us. Doctors in our hospital mostly are female(because female are more patient thus suit the occupation in clinics-not comprehensive hospitals) and relatives of university's faculty, and their attitude are usually not satisfing.

The doctress just inquired me of some basic information and gave me a injection to bring down the fever. At last she prescribed some pills and told me to take one pill if the fever didn't draw back four hours later.We thanked her with gratitude and left the hospital.

When riding along the road in the university, I felt warmness continually sprang out from my heart. After all, this is the first time I was taken care of by girls while sick.

I'd rather and prefer to believe that something magic and beyond human understanding is observing all the scenes on the earth, no matter you, him or me, no matter Asia, Africa or Europe, no matter good or bad. And someday in someway all these things will have to pay or be payed for in the name of 'justice'.

What day is it today? It's the first love anniversary of Guagua and me. To memorize, I uploaded some photos to my Flickr, which were taken exactly one year ago in Beijing.
What a pity is that I can't spend this significant day with Gua because she went back to her home, she said she's home sick.

She had been in school since the beginning of August，we both attended counselling class for "National Entrance Test for MA/MS Candidates" till the semester begin. For her, a little homesicker, this seven days National holiday's a good opportunity to back home.
So enjoy this anniversary alone!

人人都是天使。不经意间也许你就为他人送去了自己也不曾意料到的温暖，籍此为灵魂增添了一撇辉光。

今天早起翻出手机，看到八条未读信息，第一反应以为瓜瓜有什么急事找我，于是赶紧解锁阅读。读了第一条才明白：哦，国庆节！呵呵，睡了一觉都迷糊了。
马上准备回复信息。

我从来都不转发网上下载的或者别人编辑的千篇一律的信息。试想一共收到五条信息，带着些许惊喜的心情阅读却发现其中四条的内容完全一样，第五条还是余额不足的提示，这心情可想而知~~~

最后决定给主动发来的和几个自己器重的人发一些自己对他们的评价。每条信息我都特意将接受人的名字编辑在信息中两次，意思就是这信息是专门发给你的，仔细阅读！可以说每条信息我都尽了自己最大的努力去客观的全面的评价他们，虽然不一定正确，但起码可以作为他们的参考。每条信息的内容都不尽相同，都明确的指出了每个人的优点和长处。其实最真诚的交流应该是指出不足，可转念一想这大过节的就先说些耐听的话吧！

果然不久就收到了积极的反馈，LJ说他太惊讶和感动了，RW和HX也都吐露了自己的心声……

利用节日发短信的机会来进行思想的交流可以说一石二鸟，既达到了真诚问候的目的又将两人的关系进一步拉近。

培养好习惯，从一点一滴做起。:)

秋后的网虫

常言道：秋后的蚂蚱——没几天活头了，而我是秋后的网虫。
明天瓜瓜就要回家了，我则决定在学校坚守阵地，努力复习。
先前约定要严格控制上网时间，于是瓜瓜前天从小市场买回一把锁，锁住本本并把钥匙藏在一个保密的地方。所以，很不幸的是，从明天到七号一共九天，我注定要与书本为伴了。咱是懒得去网吧，虽然直线距离两千米内就有不下十家。没办法，这辈子算是让懒惰给害了。

安排一下十一长假吧！一号看书，二号看书，三号看书……嗯，不用再想了~~~

Update(06.9.30):昨晚凌晨的时候瓜瓜发信息告诉我钥匙就放在电脑包里了，要我自己控制时间。学习和休息并重。嗯，米问题！

实现blogger页首个性banner

经过艰苦卓绝的ps页首横幅，终于把照片、标题和背景较好的搭配到一起。
爱美之心人皆有之，谁不愿意让自己的博客与众不同呢。大家都看到了，现在的banner位置上是一幅本人原创图片。
由于blogger beta与原始的blogger之间语言有差别，所以只能改改代码。
实现方法如下：
1、将原来的template中的header模块remove掉。
2、插入一个图片模块，图片可以是本地传到blogger的服务器上也可以是网络中的链接。要注意图片长宽与网页匹配，一般来说1024*768分辨率下网页的宽度为1006像素，因为刨去了浏览器滚动条的宽度。为了保证图片的显示速度，最好上传到blogger上。
3、将图片模块拖动到原来header的位置。怎么样？保存后view一下blog，屁亮吧！

Update（06.9.28）：今天又修改了一下，页首改成html/css模块而非原来的图片模块了。因为原来的图片模块没有办法放置banner。

顺便把博客用到的图片传上来。

不知为何今天晚上我的新域名的博客http://sinonick.blogspot.com无法访问了，但是同样在blogger上的旧博客http://nick316241.blogspot.com却可以正常访问。莫非把二级域名里“sino”理解为“中国的”，“nick”解释成“监狱”，太敏感了？还是因为文章中有一篇的title是“As a Cinese”?仔细想想文章中谈到的确谈到了Tibet和Taiwan，虽说是英文，可内容绝对是爱国的啊！！

People attend a college or university to continue their education after high school. This prepares them for work. It also provides them with a greater understanding of the world and its past. And it helps them value the arts and sciences.

Students usually attend a college for four years and gain a bachelor’s degree. Colleges generally do not support research or offer graduate degrees. Universities usually are much larger than colleges. Universities carry out research. And they offer several kinds of degrees in many areas of study.

They offer bachelor’s degrees after four years of study. Universities also offer graduate degrees that require additional years of study, such as master’s degrees and doctoral degrees. Modern universities developed from those of the Middle Ages. They took their name from the Latin word “universitas.” It meant a group of people organized for one purpose.

The first European colleges were groups of students who came together because of the same interests. In England, colleges were formed to provide them with living places. Usually each group was studying the same thing, so the word “college” came to mean one area of study.

Most American colleges today teach an area of study called liberal arts. The liberal arts were subjects first developed and taught in ancient Greece. They trained a person’s mind. They were considered different from subjects that were useful in life.

You have many answers here, some of which seem to conflict. I would like to clarify a couple of things.

First, the terms College and Univeristy mean different things in different countries. In America, they are often used interchangeably. In Europe, University is the four-year degee and advanced degree institution and College is generally another term for high school or two-year degree institutions.

Second, it is unfair to say that University degrees are more respected than College degrees. In the US, there are many private, elite colleges that are highly repected, and many huge Universities that are not. A college must meet certain criteria and apply to the accredidation agency to be given University status. For example, several years ago a local school called Holy Family College was successful in its bid to become Holy Family University. Although it does not have "college branches", it met enough of the other criteria to be granted this status by, in part, adding some graduate programs. It's a small school with only about 4000 students total. However, a college can also stand alone and offer quite a wide range of degree programs as well. It just generally doesn't offer advanced degrees.

Third, it also isn't true that the head of a University is the President and the head of a college is a Dean. This is true in some instances of the head of a college that is part of a larger University. It is not true of "stand alone" colleges, which generally DO have a President (I work at a community college, and all of the community colleges and 4-year colleges that I have had contact with over the years have a President).

Finally, I'd like to restate that the terms are often used interchangeably in the US. For example, one would typically ask, "What college are you going to next year," to which one might answer, "The University of Pennsylvania."

Again, keep in mind that this is an American's answer. It is different in different parts of the world.

It's the same thing. You're studying business theory either way. 人逢喜事精神爽——上楼的时候腰不酸疼了背不疼了腿也不抽筋了。哈哈！开个玩笑
言归正传，让我开心的先是评上了奖学金，然后班里又评上了先进班集体。
奖学金这个东西是从踏进大学校门就梦寐以求的，记得大一的时候刚刚留校的邢老师就跟我们说，大学里一定要经历通宵、醉酒、女（男）朋友、学生干部、打工挣钱、奖学金……在校园里晃悠了三年该得到的基本上都有了，唯一的遗憾就是没有拿过奖学金。
大一的时候忙XS工作带来了不爱学习的副作用，自此课上不听讲课下不复习，每次到了考试前一两天再临时抱佛脚，加上考场上的贵人相助，期末考试也就有惊无险的糊弄了过来。记得从大三上学期的期末考试前夕我自己定了个目标——用心复习争取拿奖学金。语不惊人死不休，当我把这个想法说给好友听的时候大家都认定绝对是玩笑，即便黄河生出了白鳍豚也不可能轮到我拿奖学金。我充分理解大家，因为自己从进入大学开始一直忙着XS工作，没有一个晚上是在自习室度过的。
可是，我不愿服输，人一辈子啥也应该经历一下。平心而论，大学里的奖学金也好拿，一种方法是平时认真读书，另一种就是和老师搞好关系。当然，后者风险很大，如果让别人揭发到学校自己又没有后台，那就注定要出事了。大二下学期我曾经考了班里中上等，靠加分能够拿到奖学金，后来理性的思考后断然放弃，毕竟依靠那不甚公平的旧版学生手册来加上个四五分并不是什么值得夸耀的事情。
上学期末又是考试临近，虽然没有了前一学期11门必修加选修的摧残，却仍有8门课程要在6天内考完。于是，通宵达旦，挑灯夜战……复习的时候我果断采取了“奖学金策略”，即集中突破学分高的必修课，略看系选课。明智的策略加上踏实的复习促成我拿到了盼望已久的奖学金。
说实话，对于奖学金，我不求那微薄的几百元，不求再在档案中锦上添花，要的只是实现踏入大学校门时的一个纯真的愿望。这个愿望或许承继着家人对我厚重的期盼，或许承继着自己脆弱的自信和尊严。
有了奖学金，我的大学完满了。

最近去各大BSP的博客逛了后发现bokee心情故事系列模版的主页看起来不太顺眼。
仔细观察后发现，作为主体区域的日志模块中的标题文字和摘要/内容字号相同，所以让人产生眼花缭乱的感觉，进而使人产生烦躁心情影响阅读。
我想是因为摘要/主体的文字字号太大了吧，不过调小了不知会不会影响中老年人的阅读~~~

冷观bokee之问题处理

在大家的热切期待中我们的bokee总算能编辑了，不过似乎还不是很正常，有时候会提示连接错误~~~
没关系，既然选择就要支持！当然这种支持也是有前提的，那就是bokee应当提供让大多数人满意的服务以及与其他BSP横向评比时具有一定的优势。
论坛上，客服在努力的回答博友的问题，不过很机械很公式化；前几天网站究竟除了什么问题我们大家还是一无所知。
我认为不怕出问题，因为解决问题对于问题的主体来说是一种机遇。我们周围有很多知名企业在运作过程中不断的出现问题，而解决好了对于企业名誉来说是一种无形的提升，处理不好则会造成很大的消极影响。
bokee处理这次事件的方法我就很不赞成，也许是bokee出生在北京骨子里就带有官宦意识吧，怎么感觉对于这次事件的处理像是地方领导瞒报矿难似的呢？
用户享有知情权，而bokee公司内部的情况当然属于公司隐私我们无权干涉，但bokee至少应该拿出一个明确的令人信服的解释或者是能够恢复正常的具体时间，博友们吃了定心丸才不会抱怨。We share, we care可不是拿来唬人的更不是哄着自己高兴的，真正的为人民服务谈何容易。
记住：遇到问题，不仅要安内还要攘外；不要围堵，而要疏导。

今天的领导学课上，张书记讲什么是好老师？
好老师：
第一，书本上有的不讲；
第二，别人讲过的不讲；
第三，自己讲过的不讲。

btw今天去王老师办公室，请教是否可以退张书记的课。很矛盾：一方面自己的学分已经修够，并有考研大任；另一方面如果退课要充分考虑到老师那怎么交代。

忽然想到了大二时和小熊他们踢完系联赛，下午第一节是英语听力，我们几人没有去上课穿着队服躺在A教楼下的草坪上晒太阳，那种久违的闲适……

老将出马迎新生

人终归不是完美的，但却可以趋向完美。
前天和今天瓜瓜和我每天上下午都要去行政楼前小广场我们学院的新生接待处去帮忙，昨天晚上我送了瓜瓜去上自习之后又想着最后去看看。远远的看见许多的学院的接待处都已经撤了，而我们的摊位上孤零零的站着一个瘦小的身影，走近了才看清楚是罗——04工商1班的班长。
“学生会的人呢？”
“都让张书记请吃饭去了。”
“你怎么还在这里呢？”
“唉，反正也吃完饭了没事就在这里帮帮忙，赵带着一个自己来报道的湖南女孩去餐厅吃饭去了”
我心中一股暖流荡漾，为这种在关键时刻能够出于责任心依然坚守岗位的行为感动，也为赵永振的热心感动。但心中隐隐的仍感到一丝不安，毕竟是自己带出来的人嘛，他们的表现究竟怎样呢？学生会的新人是把这摊子事都安排好了才去happy的么？于是我的目光移到了地面上，几片纸屑进入视线，我的心冷了一些。我以为成大事者必定有一颗细致的心，在一些琐碎的小事上能够体现一个人的办事能力。这时永振也带着那个湖南女孩回来了，我让他们去楼上拿了扫帚和簸箕下来，和他们一起把地面打扫干净以便一会儿可以利利索索的说走就走。我一向喜欢用行动来感染别人，所谓身教，而不是婆婆妈妈指手画脚。我以为许多生活上的道理是靠自己的观察思考悟出来的。待我们收拾完场地，来了两个学生报道，和爸妈一起拿着大包小包的行李一大堆。我打电话给J，他挂了，马上又打了回来，说正在吃饭没法接，我告诉他接新生处来了两个报道的新生要安排一下，他说马上派小班（学生班主任，由三年级的学生担任）来接待。两分钟后两个满口酒气的小班赶来带着新生走了。马上又有一个带着官气的中年男子过来问我什么时候最后一辆去火车站接新生的班车到校，我想到校学生会主席都在押车，好吃苦的阿哲可能得最后回来。于是我拨通了电话，果然阿哲说他们是最后一班车，但已经没有学生了，之前的一班车应该已经到学校了。谢过后我转告那位男子，那男的也不说谢谢转头刚要走就看见小班带的新生回来了，他马上问人家要不要收音机，得到肯定的答复后热情的带着新生去买收音机了。我这才明白那人是后勤服务公司卖收音机的~~~无奈，谁让我这么懂礼貌，对长辈都这么尊敬呢。紧接着一辆大客车停到了广场旁边，从车上下来乌压压一片人，其中几个借着灯光循着我们挂出的条幅来到报到处。于是我再一次打电话给J让他派人过来来接新生。不一会儿几个小班又来了，还是带着十足的酒气。由于轻度近视不戴眼镜，天黑后视线很是模糊，片刻我才发现小班后面是老师和新一届学生会的一票人。可以看出老师喝得很好，踱过来大声的和家长说话。这老师给我的印象很不好，每次喝多的时候都会多少失态，平时别人一分钟解释清楚的事情他要讲三分钟，喝多后更是要加倍。待他把家长和学生安排妥当，那一票人也就散去了。剩下了我和几个三年级的，我们吹着凉风闲聊起来。其中一个总结到J是逢酒必喝，逢喝必多，逢多必吐~~~虽然早有耳闻，但运用到J身上还是头一回。我看收尾的工作也完满了，便骑上车车回到家来，独自回味自己曾经的光辉岁月。
