The development of Tawang Railway Station marked with ceremonial ground soil by the Governor-General, Mr. Baron Sloet van de Beele, along with the establishment of the railway system, 16 June 1864. wich connecting Semarang - Yogyakarta - Solo. Tawang Railway Station was designed by J.P de Bordes, Netherland

There were only few changes were made on this station, especially on the facade. Until now Tawang Station is still well maintained by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia. There are field in front of the station Tawang (now it became a polder to accomodate the rain water in the surrounding area) also has a high historical value that is as open space from the city long used as a place of the ceremony, sports, and so on.

There are the visual axis connecting the station with the Catholic Church (Blenduk). So that the role of this station in the formation of the image of the area is very important and is able to increase the value of the area. While Ubud seems to outsiders like one small town with 14 villages, each run by its own banjar (the land-owning married men's association; in effect the local government).

It's clear that Ubud has grown rapidly and some central parts are coping less well with tourists than in previous years (although the drop in visitors following 9/11 and the Kuta bombings slowed development)

Central Ubud has three main streets, Jl. Raya Ubud (the "Main Road" of Ubud), Jl. Monkey Forest and Jl. Hanoman. At the intersection of Jl. Raya and Jl. Monkey Forest is the Ubud Market, the Ubud Palace and the main bemo (public transport) stops.

The area is sometimes referred to as the "craft villages" of Bali, though the area is a bit more built-up and congested than one might infer from the term "village." The whole scene has become rather commercialized. But still it's the best area to see a wide variety of the best Balinese craftwork in a short period of time.

Tirta Empul, Tampaksiring, 20 km northeast from Ubud. One of the holiest temples on Bali, built around hot springs that now bubble eerily in the central courtyard. Between Sanur and Ubud The road to Ubud from the south passes a series of small towns which specialize in the production of particular arts and crafts, including Batubulan (stone carving), Celuk (jewelry), Batuan (painting), and Mas (wood carving). The area has many large showrooms where arts and crafts in the Balinese style are offered for sale.

The 2008 Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will take place from the 14-19 October. The theme of this year's Festival is Tri Hita Karana - the Balinese concept of balancing Man, Nature, God.

This annual celebration of international and Asian literature is centred in the small hill town of Ubud in Bali, Indonesia. Ubud is generally recognised as being one of the most important artistic and cultural centres in Indonesia.

The name "Gili Islands" is a bit of a misnomer, because Gili simply means "small island" in Sasak (local language).Tiga Gili [Three Gilis], Kepulauan Gili [Gili Islands]) are an archipelagi small islands — Gili Trawangan, Meno and Air, situated northwest of Lombok, to the east of Bali. With Bali being so famous, it has become very touristy and not at all convienient to people who wants to enjoy beutiful beaches. Gili islands offer you remote island experience.

Places to stay ranged from resorts to family owned huts. Most local inhabitants live in the hilly interior of the island. One prime thing in Gili islands, automobiles and motorized traffic are prohibited on the islands by local ordinance, so the preferred method of transportation is bicycle or the horse-drawn carriage called a cidomo. Other interesting activities to be offered is diving, in and around the Gilis, although the prices are fairly high due to local cartel activities. A visit to Gili Meno bird park is also an alternative. Besides than that, a pleasant stay by the beach, enjoying the water and sun is already heavenly...

Mystery Adventures at Lawang Sewu

The name Lawang sewu means Thousand Doors, but among the local Javanese the name conotates an eerie haunted house with a tragic history. The Dutch built it in 1863 by C. Citroen. It was the branch office for the Dutch Indonesian train company but when the Japanese invaded in 1942, they used it as a gruesome interrogation headquarter where they jailed and killed a lot of Indonesians. Which will add to ghost stories that has been told for generations.

Long standing reports of multiple ghost sightings in this building has turned it into a local destination for young students & tourists who would make their visit on weekend nights to experience this legendary haunted house. This include a reality show called " Dunia Lain" (The Other World) that was aired some years ago in our local station.

Architecturally though, this building is very pretty. Stained glass stands in the main stair void is one of the masterpieces that equivalent to those you see at Notredamm in Paris. The main reason that is hasn't been thorned down was probably the high budget beside our architecture preservation and hertigae law. It is such a shame that this old building does not hold other function. It sure could be of use for events and also movies settings, but no regular happenings is occured.

As the opening ceremony started in 13th of June 2008, Kampung Chronicles (Babad Kampung) in Jogjakarta still in on going festival throughout July 6 - August 3. Nine kampongs (villages) will take part in the so-called `babad kampung` (chronicle of village) program. The nine kampongs are Tukangan, Kricak Kidul, Pandean, Samirono, Mergangsan Kidul, Suryowijayan, Minggiran, Dolahan and Pajeksan. This event is a unique approach on how the urban people of Jogja is aware of their own identity.

Travel to Sam Po Kong chinesse temple, Simongan, Semarang

Zeng Ho, or known as Cheng-Ho, a chinesse moslem admiral who also has Sam Po Yay Djien title, He served as a close confidant of the Yongle Emperor of China (reigned 1403–1424), the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty. Zheng He's ancestors include a general for Genghis Khan. Cheng Ho and his troops landed in Simongan Beach, Gedong Batu, Semarang, in 16th century. This place, Simongan in the past, was located near the beach area and can be reach by river boats. But n o w, this area is far away from beach land because of the land segmentations. This is the beginning of the Zeng Ho’s temple story.

When it was statued first, there is just Cheng Ho’s temple as the main praying area. This temple was also used as together praying room between Cheng-Ho (moslem’s religion) and the other troops those believe in konfucius (kong-hu-chu) faith. This place suddenly became the aculturation place between Cheng-Ho’s armies and the local citizens. They get married and have sons with the local citizens there.

Today, this Sam Po Kong temple, as the land of Cheng Ho armies get famous by name. Besides of the praying place, Sam Po Kong also became one of the nice visiting place in Semarang. The statue, the temples, the building mass, and the open space, has been arranged in a good design. We can see a lot of acculturation between chinesse and javanesse in this place. Visitor can also rent the chinesse troops dress to take a memorability pictures there.
