Landsdowne is a popular Hill station located at an altitude of 1700 meters and 260 Km from Delhi. which is also known as Tip N Top locally is as the name suggests, a hilltop and it is the highest point in the hill station. It is to be visited by foot (Trekking) only as the path leading to the Bhim Pakora is a rough patch and no such facility of transport is available to it. Here you can easily spot two stones balanced one above other and it is requested not to push those. You can visit it anytime in the year provided you must carry sufficient fruits and food with you because no arrangements will be there for having food. There are no entry fees to visit the place but the help of any guide or spotter should not be expected there.

➤ Kanvashram

Kanvashram is famous for its religious importance as per Hindu mythology. It is an Ashram Situated on the river Malini and surrounded by forest and hillocks. The accommodation facility is also provided by Ashram staff. It is believed that Shakuntala, stepdaughter of Sage Kanavan gives birth to Bharat here in this Ashram.

➤ The war museum

It is a defense museum located near the parade ground in the city. It is named after Victoria cross holder Darwan Sigh Negi. it is housing a collection of Uniforms, Arms, and Ammunition of Garhwal soldiers with rarest photographs of Generals and also contains a certification of origin of Garhwal Rifle here. You can visit the museum from 9 AM to 1 PM and 4 PM to 6 PM in Summer, and 8 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 5.30 PM in Winter with an Entry fee of Rs 50 per person.

➤ Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple

It is located on a hilltop at an altitude of 2092 meters and at a distance of 38 Km from the city. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and to reach the temple you have to hire taxi up to village Gundalkhet followed by trekking of just 1 Km will land you in the temple premises. The Festival of Mahashivratri is well organized and popular among locals here. Temple has a Dharamshala where accommodation facility can be availed.

➤ St. John Church

The Church was made in 1936 and is located at the mall road itself in the city center. Beautiful surroundings and a great example of architecture make it a must-visit location for tourists.

The market remains open from 9AM to 8PM mostly and mainly Mall Road and its nearby area is the option for Marketing and also u can visit the Alaknanda market where you can shop for small items of silk, brass, etc. Shop just opposite to Garhwal Rifle camp is Javed"s shop where you can find leather items after bargaining. In Mall Road lots of Restaurants also available.it will take around 3 to 4 hours to explore the market on foot.

Shimla

Woolen clothes are famous here on Mall road and worth to buy but then also I would suggest that please Bargain with the owner for Price because Shop owners make false claims usually about the price to cheat customers which is but natural being a Human being and same can be seen in all markets across the world.
Evening time is best to spend here at Mall Road with a lot of Rush add charm to it. There are a lot of Cafes and Showrooms on Mall Road where you can relax and enjoy your time with your partner. Cafe Sol which is popular among tourists for a brilliant Bar is worth to enjoy. Indian Coffee House is also a great option for Tea/Coffee lovers. To reach Mall road from the main road, Lift is being operated by Government with a minimal charge of 8 Rs and Lift is just 1 Km from Bus Stop and at 1.5 Km from Railway Station.
Gaiti Theatre on Mall road is famous as many famous artists of the country performed here and as it is renovated now but the Original structure keeps untouched, so you can enjoy it there. Also, Scandal Point, Town Hall, and Kali Bari Temple are worth to visit.

# Christ Church

# Chail

It is situated at a distance of 45 Km from Shimla and at an altitude of 2250 meters. It is famous for World's highest Cricket and Polo ground with its scenic beauty surrounding it. # Tattapani

Tattapani is another major tourist destination nearby to Shimla and located at a distance of 52 Km from Shimla on the bank of river Sutlej. It is famous for the Hot springs of Sulphur which is believed to have a medicinal property to cure Joint Pain etc. Shiva Cave is also a must-visit place and at around 4 Km distance from the city Centre. Adventurous activities like Horse Riding, Paragliding, Zorbing, Skiing can be undertaken here. April to June is the best time to visit here and enjoy the springs.

# Jakhu Temple

Dedicated to Lord Hanuman and situated at the Jakhoo peak which is the highest peak in Shimla. You will find a lot of monkeys here and it is believed as per mythology that Hanuman took rest for some time before resuming his search for Sanjivani. It is approx 2 Km from the city ridge. Parvati Valley

Parvati Valley is a great destination to explore and situated in the Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. Valley has a breathtaking opening with the confluence of the Beas and Parvati river near Bhunter in Kullu. The welcome gate or you can say the road to enter the valley starts from a beautiful village named Malana. The road passes through a famous pilgrimage center Manikaran Sahib which is a place of devotion for both Hindu and Sikh communities. The way to valley Parvati valley road ends at village Pulga followed by a narrow track that goes to Rudranaag waterfall. Beyond this fall, the Trail leads to Kheerganga which is famous for trekking and it is believed that Lord Shiva meditated here for 3000 years.

From Kheerganga trail leads to Thakur Kuan village which is second after Tunda Village, Here at Thakur Kuan Parvati river meets with Dibibokri river which is a tributary of Parvati river. The trail further leads to Pandupul village and ahead to Mantalai Lake which is the source or origin of the Parvati River.

Using the same trail further will lead you to reach Pin Valley National Park near Mud village in Lahaul & Spiti region in Spiti valley, but to reach Spiti Valley you have to cross Pin Parvati Pass at an altitude of 5390 meters.

Parvati Valley is a perfect place to enjoy calm and fresh weather which is further added up by riverside delicious food and smell of herbs. There are a lot of things to do while enjoying the great atmosphere in the circuit which we will discuss in detail.

It takes about 10-11 hours of journey to reach Kullu from Delhi via a bus, and there is regular service available from Delhi ISBT. Buses that go to Kullu also have a stop at Chandigarh so one can board the bus from Chandigarh as well. Alternatively, you can opt for private Cab from Chandigarh or Delhi. Sharing based Taxi are easily available from Chandigarh where you will be accommodated with fellow passengers en route to Kullu/Manali.

The nearest railway stations on the narrow gauge is at Joginder Nagar which is about 100 km of Kullu while the nearest railhead (Broad Gauge) is at Chandigarh (285 Km) or at Ambala (320Km). From Chandigarh or Ambala, one can easily board the buses going to Kullu from Delhi as the same passes through both the cities.

Nearest Airport is Bhunter Airport situated in Bhunter at around 10 Km from Kullu. Bhunter Airport is well connected to the major cities of India especially Delhi.

Parvati Valley can be explored throughout the year easily but then also it is advisable to avoid Monsoon season for visit as the Highway leading to Kullu is prone to Landslides. Best time to spend your precious time in the best manner is:

The time required to explore is 7 to 10 days provided you are going by a private cab and don't have any plan to do Trekking and all. Because Kheerganga Trekking alone needs at least 10 days if you are really into it. Otherwise to visit places and Relaxing at Riverside wants less time.

➤➤Places to see in and around Parvati Valley:-

⇛Manikaran Sahib

It situated at around 45 Km from the city center of Kullu and 5 Km from Kasol. it is a pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Sikh devotees and here you can find hot water vapors easily. An interesting point to note here that Hotels available in Manikaran Sahib are not equipped with Hot water arrangements due to the Hot water supply from the springs. Devotees can take a dip in the Hot water inside the Gurdwara Premises itself. Also same arrangements you can find in Shri Ram Temple after crossing the Parvati River by a small bridge. separate arrangements for Ladies also available.
Manikaran Sahib can be best visited from April-June as the Summer season give you some relax from freezing cold. Evenings in the summer season also make you feel cold as temperature drops to around 10 degrees. Monsoon season must be avoided to keep you away from landslides and other discomforts. Anyhow Pilgrims use to travel in the winter season as well but the weather at Manikaran in the winter season is extremely cold and harsh so it can be a problem for Kids and Oldies.

⇛Kasol

Kasol is located around 40 km from Kullu city center and it is a small village on the banks of river Parvati. Kasol is nowadays widely popular especially for trekkers as famous Kheerganga Trek starts from here only. One thing I really like and specifically want to mention here that Kasol is inhabited largely by lovely people from Israel, so you can easily find Israeli foods in cafes and Hebrew language written in the cafe. Kasol is also a perfect place to enjoy the scene and atmosphere here in the lap of nature in the best possible manner.

You can avail of facilities of Hotels/Guesthouses in Kasol, can pitch Tent or camping arrangement can be explored at the riverside. The local market here at Kasol can provide you with items needed for day to day purposes. Rave parties and Music Festivals can be enjoyed at Kasol.

Summer Hill festival which is organized every year at the end of June, to say goodbye to summer and say a welcome to winter accompanied by cool riverside parties at night lasts for 2 days. Various types of activities like Bonfire, Painting, Group Discussion, Cleanliness Drives are conducted in it where you can participate and enlarge your social circle with these activities. Also, it gives you a chance to enjoy the Best of Israeli Culture.
Indrasan Festival being held at the end of May every year is also great to watch lasts for 5 days and 4 night and it is a Music festival which in turn also promote afforestation.

⇛Malana

Malana is at 21 Km from Kasol and 14 Km from Buhar Village which comes on the road while going from Kullu to Kasol, so if you want to explore Malana than I would suggest you take a turn from Buhar Temple towards Malana for nest 14 Km. Malana is an isolated village from the rest of the world and considered as the oldest Democracy. Malana is also known as the village of Taboos as an outsider are not allowed to touch anything or anyone. The village has a different language called Kanashi, a different culture and a separate system of governance. Visitors are advised not to touch anything in the village otherwise you are liable to be fined.

There are very few Guesthouse/Homestay available in Malana but that also on the peak and before the village that means separated from the village. it also has a Temple but Visitors are not allowed to visit here so be precautious. Although it is an ancient village, you will find houses of modern design because the actual village was destroyed due to fire in 2008.

⇛Tosh Village:

Tosh is a village situated at a distance of 20 Km from Kasol and is famous for its Cannabis plantation. it is located at the far end of the Valley and Parvati river flows through it. you can find foreigners easily here and can have an exchange of talks will give you a new experience. Tosh become popular in reet years because it is located en-route to famous Kheerganga Trek. Limited accommodation facility is available here so plan accordingly. It is an ideal location if you want to spend time in a leap of nature with no crowd and just peace and chirping of birds around you.

⇛Pulga

It is located 16 km from Kasol and a very thinly populated village isolated from the world. You will find very fewer people here at Pulga and Hydroelectric Project is stationed here on River Parvati. Kheerganga is just 5 Km from here. you can visit Temple of Lord Narayan here where you will find very less common people interacting with each other.

⇛Kheerganga

Kheerganga is at 21 Km from the Kasol and it is believed that Karthik, son of Lord Shiva meditated here for years. This place remains out of reach to Humans because of Snow for five months in a year. Trek to Kheerganga starts from Kaol and ends here. Trekking to Kheerganga is t difficult for Beginners as 21 Km with dangerous waterfalls and streams to pass and in addition, cliffs add difficulty to it. So, if you are going the first time it is advisable to go with a guide.

In Kullu city, you can find the number of Hotels/Guesthouses and can select based on your comfort level. (Must try to reside in Homestay if possible at some distance from the city). Good hotels I will not recommend names but surely you can check on any of the apps out of OYO/MAKEMYTRIP/TRIPADVISOR and many more. Apart from Kullu Good accommodation can be explored in Kasol and Manikaran Sahib. except for these places, you will not find any options to stay as per your luxury. The villages such as Malana, Tosh, Pulga are having options to reside but not as per your convenience.

Where Dalhousie is located

It is a Very popular Hill station in Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh and located at a distance of 310 Km from Chandigarh and just 81 Km from Pathankot which are two major connecting cities. It was founded in 1850 by British Viceroy Lord Dalhousie. It is situated on the top of five hills.

Best Time to Visit Dalhousie:-

Dalhousie can be visited throughout the year as it is well connected by road to major cities in India. It totally depends on you whether you want to enjoy green and clean weather in Summer or Chilling Cold with Snow laden Mountain Peaks in the Winter season. If you can, please avoid Monsoon season (July) as there are chances of Landslides in the upper part of Dalhousie which can cause you Discomfort.
April to June End is the summer season in Dalhousie where you can find the lush green valleys at its best and it will give you enough opportunities to explore nature and flora and fauna around the city in the best possible manner.
July to September is Monsoon season and the hill station receives the maximum of its annual rainfall in this season. so it is advisable to avoid this season if possible as landslides and traffic jams can be at its worst.
October to March is Winter season and Hill station receives lots of snow during this season, so if you really want to enjoy snow-laden hills and chilled weather with great landscapes than this season is one you must not avoid to.

Dalhousie is well connected to the rest of India throughout the year so one can opt for any mode of travel to reach here. Nearby major city to Dalhousie is Pathankot and Chandigarh. From Pathankot, one can take Private Cab or can choose Government transportation to reach Dalhousie.

🚗🚗By Road to Dalhousie:-

You can opt one out of these three routes if traveling via cab/Private vehicle and the road condition till Dalhousie is fine and you can easily drive till the point except one or two places where you can get little traffic that all.

Take a train from Chandigarh to Pathankot or Delhi to Pathankot available on a regular basis. Than from Pathankot onwards hire Cab or else can use State Transportation as Pathankot is the nearest Railway station to Dalhousie.

✈✈ By Flight to Dalhousie:-

Nearest Airport to Dalhousie is Pathankot at 81 Km distance. But one thing to give minute attention is that Pathankot is connected via Air to Delhi only so choose wisely. Alternate Airport is Gaggal Airport at Kangra/Dharamshala which is 140 km from Dalhousie and is connected to major destinations in India.

▞Khajjiar (Mini Switzerland of India)

It is a very famous location at an altitude of 2000 meters and just 22 Km distant from main Dalhousie Town. It is surrounded by trees of Pine and Deodar which makes it a fabulous spot. The name of Khajjiar is taken from Khajji Deity and temple of the God is located nearby to the lake. One can easily go to Khajjiar via Private vehicle/Cab/Bike. Transportation from the state department and private tour operators are also available throughout the day.

→Khajjiar can be best explored through Trekking from Dalhousie passing via Kalatop.

→A nominal entry fee ( Rs 200) will be charged from you if going via private vehicle which is actually an entry fee for a vehicle to Khajjiar.

→Activities @Khajjiar - Zorbing, Horse Riding, Paragliding, Picnic, Photography.

→There are limited hotels available in Khajjiar but Prior Bookings are required.

→Restaurants are easily available where visitors can have a taste of North Indian Dishes.

▞ Kalatop Wildlife Reserve:-

It is home to Himalayan Bear and a very popular Reserve in Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at 6 Km distance from Dalhousie and a link road to it will be on your left while going to Khajjiar. From this link, Road head to Reserve is just 3 Km. Entry fees of Rs 250 will be charged for a vehicle to reach up to Forest Guest House at this head. No vehicles are allowed beyond Forest Rest House and you have to park a vehicle there only.

→Ravi river flows nearby to it. It is best for Jungle Safari, Bird watching, Bird Photography, Trekking.
→Trekking to Khajjiar (12Km) is an awesome thing to do.

→Forest Guest House (Huts) at Kalatop also provides nice accommodations.

▞ Dainkund Peak:-

Excellent Trekking destination near Dalhousie at a maximum altitude of 2755 meters around. It's a bit tough to reach but for an Average Physically fit person it is quite comfortable. The Trekking to Kali Mata Temple is easy going and once on the Peak you will be mesmerized watching a 360-degree view of the top.

It is said or can say a Myth that it was favorite spots to hang out for witches that's why named as 'Dain Kund', but don't worry in the present time there are no witches at all. Camping at peak will certainly add joyful moments to your trip while Air Force Station near Peak is also an attraction.

↔ After driving up to 6 km from the city, you have to park your vehicle at Air Force Barrier which will be followed by 4 km long trekking. Initial one Km of trekking is a bit tough with steep rise and fall and after that rest, a 3 km path is quite easy.

↔ You can plan for Peak throughout the year but if wanna have moments to be spent with snow-capped mountains than choose the season from October to February.

↔ One thing to note is that if planning for a trek then do carry warm clothing and first aid kit for an emergency.

▞ Panchpula:-

It is a waterfall and perfect picnic spot for families in the very close vicinity of the city where you can even go by walk. It is just 3 Km from the main marketing square of Dalhousie namely Gandhi Chowk and from there you can take Cab/Bus. But I would suggest you travel on foot, as it will give you the best exposure to nature. Panchpula named it because Five streams come together here and the mainstream of Panchpula acts as a source of water to different parts of Dalhousie.

↔ Monument in memory of Sardar Ajit Singh (Uncle of Sardar Bhagat Singh) is erected nearby to it.
↔ Here you can also try some adventure activities like Burma Bridge.

One can visit here in any season of the year and you will be welcomed with the same charm and beauty.

▞ River Rafting

Rafting can be undertaken on River Ravi or Saal which is organized by Private as well as Government agencies. Rafting part is performed under the close supervision of staff so don't have to worry about anything and just enjoy. The only thing to keep in mind is Rafting is best enjoyed in the summer season only.

▞ Subhash Bowli

It is just One Km from Main Market of Dalhousie and a perfect spot for picnic or evening walk. It is named after great freedom fighter Subhash Chander Bose and is a perennial spring believed to have a medicinal value which cured the great freedom fighter. A small waterfall is situated near it amplifies its beauty and serves as a natural place to relax.

▞ St John's church

The Church is located in Gandhi Market itself so one can visit it by walk. It is a great mixture of History and beauty which makes it attractive for photography. The library is situated nearby to Church is home to a plethora of books where one can go through the past of Dalhousie easily.

▞ Ganji Pahari

This peak is at a Trek of 5 Km from Dalhousie on Pathankot road. It is named it because of the absence of vegetation on top which is not a problem but actually makes it a perfect location for Picnic. You can hire a guide as well from Dalhousie and it will take around 4 to 5 hours to complete the trekking which you will definitely enjoy.

↔ The best time to visit between October to February when the region receives snowfall and all the peaks laden with snow will add in the beauty of trekking. Especially Sunrise and Sunset are two main times which is to be enjoyed.

↔ Trekkers can reach Ganji Pahari from Panchpula also as a narrow walkway from Panchpula will lead to the top of the Pahari by trekking.

▞ Sach Pass

Pass is located at an altitude of 4500 meters and 150 Km distance from Dalhousie. It is very difficult to cross due to landslides because of heavy rain and snow. It connects Dalhousie town with Chamba and Pangi Valley. It is also famous for trekking and it starts from Dalhousie via Khajjiar. The best time to visit Sach pass is from July to September. Tourists can reach to Sach Pass with taxi via Bairagarh on Dalhousie-Pathankot road. You can easily find snow at Sach pass even in the month of June.

Tips before planning a Tour/Trip

So you are planning a trip to spend some good times with friends or family. It's good to take out some time for personal enjoyment and if that time is spent on a tour with family or friends that what else you want. But wait is it like that you planned for a destination in the past and executed the trip as well but the trip did not go well?
Planning for a trip is a time consuming and boring task, especially when you are planning to travel abroad, and if you are planning a visit with kids or grandparents. Then I can assure you that you are going to land up in difficulties if the trip is not planned well catering to the need of kids and parents.
So there are some small but important things to choke down before packing up your bags and moving out to board a carrier. Don't know how to go for those small things or don't have enough time to think for them, Don't worry let me help you in doing that because it's better to spend some time on planning rather than wasting entire trip because of lack of planning because you deserve to go and create memorable moments which you can carry with you throughout of your life.

Plan for a destination by looking at your pocket, as once took off with burden on pocket, will be very tough to enjoy there and if no enjoyment then no use of trip. It's not good to plan for a destination based on popularity. Yeah, popularity does matter but what if that popularity costs you heavily and spoils your future budgeting. You have enough money in your pocket or bank that allows remaining stress-free during the tour. If not have enough budget and trip is more important than must consider money where to borrow from?
If you have Credit Cards than it is perfect as it is better to take credit from a financial institution which is reliable and with you from past, But then you also have to pay back that credit amount But but but… there is an option to pay back credit card bills in easy monthly installments (EMI)... Bingo... It will definitely reduce your stress. If you don't have a card option as well as less budget... it's my sincere advice please plan for some different location or not plan at all.

Choose your Destination:-

The selection of the destination is not merely choosing a place to visit but it also contains various factors to be considered prior to select the destination. The selection must be based on some key factors like:-

The span of the trip ---

How much time do you have to enjoy and journey time must also be taken into account. While calculating the time which will give you a rough idea of how much time you are going to really enjoy. A road trip can be a little longer whereas traveling by flights will make the trip somewhat shorter. The urban destination takes more time to explore as sightseeing and marketing (which obviously you can't resist to) have more importance in urban localities. Also, it is advisable to have one or two days as spare to cater for as buffer time for the delay due to traffic or if you want to extend your stay at any place.

It is like talking about the season which means what is the best time to visit that particular destination. For example, the Best time to enjoy Beaches and Mountains are completely different and after some weeks of official peak time to visit that location you may get high discounts on your hotels and flights... When you are going to such a nice location please don't plan for a short trip as in a short time you will be busy calculating miles but then also if you have a crunch of time than let me help you in doing that a bit for you please. So you can plan as follows:

Best Time to visit Spiti Valley:-

First, the timing of your trip is most important and as Spiti Valley is accessible through high mountains and deep valleys which usually can not be traveled throughout the year so the best time to visit valley in Mid April to August but if you can avoid July it will be better as the heavy rains on the way can cause roadblocks.

April to June End & Mid August to September End is the summer season and it is the best time to explore the valley and its unmatched beauty. Bikers generally prefer this season to visit the Valley and you can find a lot of Bikers on daily basis ferrying from Kaza to Rohtang Pass and in the opposite way as well.

July to Mid August is the Monsoon Season and if possible can be avoided as Roadblocks and landslides can cause discomfort and harm to the journey and spoil the trip as well.

October to March is Winter season here and let me clear here that winter here in Valley is rough and quite chilled. So negligible options are found in the way to halt and rest except major destinations en route like Narkanda, Rampur, Spillow, Chango, Tabo, Kaza, and Lossar. So its better to plan accordingly and if you really want to enjoy the chilled weather then only I will recommend it.

Route or way to Spiti Valley or Kaza:-

Spiti Valley has Kaza as the main market center and last stop for tourists and from Kaza, travelers can plan their journey back. There are a lot of things to see and do in and around Kaza which I will discuss in a short while in the same blog. Valley is connected to the rest of India via Road only and there are two routes which one can adopt to travel

→→ one is via Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali-Lossar-Kaza

This route is a bit not comfortable for them who are prone to motion and mountain sickness as this route has a sharp increase in height along the way.

→→ second is Delhi-Chandigarh-Shimla-Narkanda-Rampur-Reckong Peo-Chango-Kaza

This route has a gradual increment of the height along the way. Spiti valley is almost at a height of 3800 Meters approximately, so persons prone to Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS) must go for the second route.

Buses from state transport are available between Kullu to Kaza and Shimla to Kaza and back but are very less in frequency. The Bus departs daily from Kaza at 0700 AM & 0700 PM to Shimla while the bus from Shimla to Kaza departs at 0400 AM & 0600 AM from Shimla. The bus reaches Shimla via Narkanda, Rampur, and Nako.

The Bus from Kaza to Manali departs daily from Kaza at 0400 AM while Bus from Manali to Kaza departs from Manali at 0500 & 0530 AM on a daily basis. Fare of the bus is at around 400 Rs and it takes around 11 hours to reach Manali via Kunzum Pass and Rohtang Pass.

Nearest Railway Station to Spiti Valley or Kaza:

There is no Railway station to reach Spiti Valley by Rail. The nearest railway station is at Joginder Nagar (345Km) and at Shimla (422 Km). It will take another 8 Hours from Joginder Nagar and 10 Hours from Shimla to Reach Valley via Taxi.

Nearest Airport to Spiti Valley:-

There is no direct connectivity of Flights to reach Spiti Valley or Kaza from major cities of India. Nearest Airport is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu which is at 250 Km from Kaza and one has to go to Manali than Rohtang Pass and followed by Lossar to Kaza to reach Valley from Airport.

Condition of Road to Spiti Valley:-

If you are going via the second route then you will find quite good roads till Rampur except for some minor hitches, after Rampur till Kaza the road conditions are not good and you have to be very slow if going on personal vehicles or Bike.

Then come the worst and dangerous roads of the world from Kaza to Rohtang Pass on the return way to Manali and be assured that if you are coming by bus then be ready for rock n roll and if coming by personal vehicle or Bikes and driving than ready to be a perfect driver if you are and if not so good in driving then please these roads are not meant for you to drive and to exploit your skills here. Then from Manali to Chandigarh roads are much comfortable except some loops.

Things / Places to do in and around Spiti Valley:

There are many destinations available for an adventurous lover and Traveler if you are comfortable with a lot of traveling. Spiti Region is famous for its Monasteries and Monastery is the place or Spiritual center where Buddhist thoughts and Beliefs are taught and learned and practiced by Monks.

# Dhankar Gompa:

It is a small village at a height of 3800 meters and actually an ancient monastery which was founded in the 12th Century. It was the capital of the Kingdom at Spiti during the 17th Century known as Nonos. New Monastery is built in the village named Shichilling (8 Km) which has a strength of more than 100 Monks. Dhankar Gompa is located at a 300-meter spur where the confluence of River Spiti and Pin River took place. Dhankar means Fort in Local language and the Monastery actually used to protect Valley from outside invasion in ancient times by Spitians.

One can hire a Taxi ( Approx. 800 Rs for one side journey ) or can Opt for Government Bus to reach Dhankar from Tabo or Kaza. Two Buses from each location are available to reach the Shichilling village. From Shichilling village, the rest 8 Km distance can trek up to Dhankar Gompa.

# Kaza:

Kaza is the most populous settlement in the Spiti Valley and it acts as an Administrative HQ for the Valley since ancient times. Kaza has around 2000 people as habitats and the small hamlet has one main street which leads to the market. In the market, there are some good restaurants available for Dining and also Banking and other essential services are available here. Kaza is the only place after Rampur till Manali where you can get all the required services available.

The world's highest Fuel station is stationed here and it is the only place where you can refuel your vehicle from Rampur till Manali except some minor habitats where you will get fuel only in Shops.

Key Monastery which is situated at a distance of 8 Km from Kaza in Kibber Village is a major tourist attraction and it is an example of great architecture from ancient times. It was founded in the 11th century and is located at an altitude of 4000 meters on the bank of Spiti River. It is the biggest Monastery of the Valley region and religious training and preaching center for Monks.

Key Monastery has a collection of Buddhist Images and books related to the Buddhists Culture. Other destinations near Kaza to explore are villages like Hikkim, Komik, and Langja which are remote villages and are on the International Border of Indo-China.

# Tabo:

Tabo is a village en route Rekong Peo to Kaza on the bank of river Spiti. It is the largest area covering the maximum Buddhist complex in it with Nine Temples. Tabo has Apple Orchid located in between the cold desert area.
Tabo is known as the oldest Buddhist enclave in India and the Himalayan region. Tabo Monastery was founded in the year 996. Tabo caves are the main center for attraction to tourists and caves are found on the Monastery and founded in ancient times. It is believed that caves were used by Monks for meditation for years in these caves remotely. some of the caves are still being used in case of harsh winter by Monks as assembly halls. Tabo caves can be clearly seen from the Tabo village itself.

Tabo on the bank of river Spiti can be reached by Taxi or Bus only and situated at 140 Km distance from Rekong Peo. The village is some 2 Km sideway on branching road from the road connecting Rekong Peo to Kaza.

# Langza Village:

Langza village is the remotest village in the Spiti Valley and located at an altitude of 4400 Meters. It is just 18 Km from Kaza which is the center of Lahaul & Spiti. If you can reach Kaza that means you can easily reach Langza, so time to visit here is same as of Kaza or Spiti Valley. You will find a massive Budhha statue-like guarding this small hamlet. This village is famous for ancient Geographical events attached to it, as it is believed that Langza and surrounding villages were submerged under Tethys Ocean during the same Oceanic process. That is the reason, fossils of the marine animals actually present in Tethys sea that time is found nowadays in the village. So if you start digging somewhere in and around the village, it is not an amazement thing if you come across fossil remains of marine animals. But we must know and respect the archeological and geographical importance of villages to our Nation.

There is nothing much to do in Langza except to live and experience the thousand-year-old culture of Spitians. Some Homestays are built here in Langza to reside at night otherwise one can travel from Kaza and have a tour to Langza.

Local people in Langza and surrounding villages are selling the fossils of the marines dating back to the Jurassic era, and nowadays travelers start making purchases of those and taking to their home. It resulted in the extinction of the fossils and so I request all my fellow travelers to please not buy these fossils remain instead go for mud replica of the remains.

Langza village is situated under the shadow of Chau Chau Kang Nilda peak which is around 20,000 feet height. Climbing to this peak is not easy and requires professional guides to make you attempt the same.

# Pin Valley National Park

Pin Valley is formed by the Pin River which originates from Kungri glacier. The river runs across the valley before merging with the Spiti river and There are around 16 to 17 villages in the Pin valley which has population of approximately 1700.

Wildlife sanctuary founded in 1987 named Pin Valley National Park is situated in this beautiful valley and Snow Leopard is believed to exist here only in India. This national park is also home to several other endangered species of animals like Red Fox, Golden Eagle and many more. There are some tough trekking options available in the Pin Valley for adventure lovers. One of them will lead to the famous Parvati Valley and pilgrimage site Manikaran Sahib through Pin Parvati Pass. while other track will lead you to Bhawa valley into Kinnaur. Road to Pin Valley bifurcated from the main road between Kaza and Dhankar just near to Attargo Bridge. As the road is crossed using the Attargo bridge, a straight road leads to Pin Valley on the right bank of river Pin. Total 38 Km of distance passing from the Gulling, Kingri, Mikkim, and Mud villages. Mud village is the start and endpoint for the trekking to Bhawa and Pin Parvati pass and at a distance of 52 Km from Kaza.

Road to the Mud village is not a tarred one but quite OK if you are good at driving, but the mesmerizing location of Pin valley will stress you out. You can also reach Pin Valley using state transport, as the bus starts from Kaza to Mud village at 4 PM daily. If you missed the bus, don't worry you can share the taxis from both Kaza and Dhankar at a marginal rate of 80 to 90 Rs. There are quite simple but lots of options available in the Pin Valley to reside and enjoy the park and valley.

# Chandertaal:

Chandertaal is a sweet water lake situated in the dry desert of Spiti Valley at an altitude of 4200 Meters. Chandertaal is named from the shape of the lake as the moon and, it is a perfect camping and trekking destination to adventure lovers.

Accommodation/Places to stay en route trip to Spiti Valley:-

While going from Chandigarh to Shimla en routes one can get accommodation at cheap prices to stay at Shimla, Theog, Narkanda, Rampur, Sangla/Chitkul, Kalpa, Reckong Peo, Spillow, Pooh, Nako, Tabo, Kaza, Lossar, Manali. Please be mentally aware that except Shimla, Rampur, and Manali all other destinations are small in size and please don't expect five-star facilities there.
From Kaza to Manali, once Lossar gets crossed than till Manali, it is very tough to find a stay in between for around 180 Kms OR SO. Above that, the road to this distance is very dangerous and risky, except at Chandertaal where one can have their own camping arrangements.

So it is my humble advice to all that if anyone planning to travel from Kaza to Manali in one day then please either left Kaza as early as possible so that can cross dangerous stretch at least in daytime till Rohtang Pass and after that can easily approach to Manali or have camping arrangements for Chandertaal and if not then one can find PWD Rest House at Batal and Gramphu/Chhatru but there is no surety that one will get room to stay there as rush is always there, but one can get a small Dhaba type in Chhatru where you can get Bed at 200 bucks to spend night.

Food en route trip to Spiti Valley:-

One can easily get food throughout the route and there is not at all any problem for it. But if anyone is highly choosy and expecting the same foods which you can get in plain areas like Dhabas and Hotels than I am sorry you are in the wrong place. You will get food which can make you feed to stay healthy and alive but not as per your taste. But one can get Maggie, Egg items, etc throughout the route.

Must Carry items en route trip to Spiti Valley:-

The temperature in mountains usually dips to the sub-zero or very low range at night time so one must have proper winter clothing with him while traveling and also rain wears are also must as rains are not frequent but expected anytime so one should have his /her arrangements.

As medical facilities are very rare from Rampur to Kaza and Kaza to Manali so one must have at least minimum required tablets/drugs with them such as pain relief, headache, cold and flu etc

Finally, the trip to Spiti valley is full of mesmerizing locations and scenes, attractions on the way, and the most beautiful thing I noticed in this trip was that while on way from Shimla to Kaza then Manali to Chandigarh you will go all along the riverside of river Satluj till Kaza and then will come back along river Beas. So please carry good quality camera and storage devices with you to store your memory forever.

Note: if anyone wants to have a clear vision of starry nights than I don't think one will get better chances than this trip, as from Kaza to Manali there is a perfect destination for it named as Chandertaal and Dhatru where one can halt and have a glimpse of the clear starry sky.

It is a very famous hill station located at 9 Km distance from Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. It is inhabited by Tibetian people mostly as in exile government of Tibet runs from here.

Why McLeodganj is famous-

Because it is a Hill station where one can relax and spend some luxury time with or without family out of stressful life. Also, it is important on the map because the Government in exile of Tibbet or you can say Chief lama has his throne stationed here. Dalai Lama who is presently chief Lama is stationed here, which means a population density of Tibetian people is most as compare to any other part of the country.

Planning to Travel to McLeodganj

You can reach to Mcleodganj by using any convenient medium out of Road/Train/Flight which is best suitable for you to travel.

The route to reach Mcleodganj:

There are usually two routes which are adopted by travelers to reach McLeodganj:
First one is

By Road to McLeodganj

It is the most common medium of transport used by the people, It is about 250 Km from Chandigarh and 485 km from Delhi. It takes about 10-11 hours of journey to reach McleodGanj from Delhi via bus, and there are regular bus services available from Delhi and Chandigarh every day on the route.

By Train to McLeodganj

There is no direct Rail connectivity to McLeodganj through which you can reach your destination. But the nearest railway stations on the narrow gauge are at Kangra and Nagrota which are about 25 km of Mcleodganj while the nearest railhead (Broad Gauge) is at Pathankot which is 95 km from here. Pathankot is well connected to Delhi and Chandigarh through trains on regular intervals.

✈✈By Flight to McLeodganj

Nearest Airport to McLeodganj is Gaggal Aiport situated at Dharamshala, which is at around 10 Km from Mcleodganj. Gaggal Airport is well connected to Delhi and Chandigarh by Air on a regular basis with the services offered by Air India and SpiceJet Airways. Schedule for flights keeps on changing depending on prevailing weather at Dharamshala so it's better to check prior boarding.

Best Time to Visit McLeodganj:-

McLeodganj can be traveled throughout the year depending on the season you want to enjoy there at Hill station. Best time to spend your precious time in the best manner is:

March to June which is Summer Season here, green and clean nature will be at its best in this season for you to explore the beauty. Adventurous activities like Rafting, Trekking, Paragliding can be enjoyed in this season.
July to September is Monsoon time and in this season hill station receives a lot of rains. so it can be avoided if possible as the roads leading to McLeodganj also become unsafe to travel.

October to February which is Winter Season and you can enjoy chilling cold days and nights here. But as the winter here is a bit harsh so movement and other activities can not be explored in this season.

The time required to move in and around of Mcleodganj is 3 days in which one day must be kept reserved for Trekking to famous Triund, and if interested in Meditation and Yoga than tour stretches up to 4 days

Places/Things to do in and around McLeodganj:-

* Bhagsunaag Fall :

It is situated around 3 Km from the city center where you will get a little bit of Trekking exposure plus falls on the way. Avoid slippery stones while going to falls, as the way to reach Bhagsu Naag fall is narrow and it is dangerous for kids and old age peoples. Also if possible then avoid visiting falls during Monsoon time.

* Shiva Cafe

Shiva Cafe is located at around 200 meters from Bhagsu Naag falls on a very narrow branching pathway. It is present at some 100-meter height from the falls where you can enjoy a peaceful time with good snacks and a great view of the city in the background with adorable peaks.

* Bhagsunaag Temple

Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Deity Snake with a distance of 1.5 Km from the city center. Road to the Bhagsu Naag falls passes through this temple only and Temple houses a Pond being filled with continuously flowing freshwater from the Falls. The water of the Pond remains always at a very low temperature so one can enjoy swimming in freezing temperatures all the time. Crystal clear water of the pond will give you a nice feeling of nature with the religious mixture.

* Triund Trekking

Triund is popular and must go Trekking destination for each going to Mcleodganj. Triund is at 9 Km from the city and if you start your trekking from Dharamshala than the distance will increase to 19 Km. The peak at Triund gives a scenic view of tri-cities i.e Chamba, Mcleodganj and Dharamshala at night and of Moon peak/Indra pass. Camping at Triund at night in itself is a mesmerizing thing and one must explore that. Accessories for camping plus Guide can be arranged at the McLeodganj. Alternatively, Tents can be hired for a night at the peak itself but you will be left with no option but to take their price only at peak. It is advisable that, please search for more than 5 agencies for the Trekking budget in the city itself so that trekking can be undertaken at competitive prices for you.

⇔ Please avoid carrying Plastic and Liquor to Triund Peak, because it is we who are responsible for spoiling the beauty of hill station.
⇔ Avoid trekking in Monsoon time as slippery stones can be harmful to the travelers.
⇔ Do not litter at the Peak.

* Dharamkot:

Dharamkot is located 1 km from the city provides a great view of Kangra valley. The village is having natural beauty filled with flowers and shadow of Triund Hills is also called Yoga Village as Dharamkot has meditation centers where one can release stress using natural meditation. You can go on foot to the village and there is no need to hire a Taxi. If you are interested in meditation than reserve one day must be kept reserved for it.

* Dal Lake

Lake is around 3 Km from the city on some considerable height as compared to the city surrounding by Deodar trees with a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at the lake. Good spot to trek for a small distance. (can go anytime without any entry fees). One can go by foot and it will take approx 1.5 hours to reach or else has to hire a taxi to reach there. But I will recommend enjoying the nature walk till the lake early morning.

* St. John Church

The Church is situated on road from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj on the right side of the road. This neo-gothic architecture was built in 1852 and a quite good place to see once (can be visited from 7AM to 6.30PM on weekdays and 9.00 AM to 6.30 PM on Sunday without any entry fees). Easily approachable via foot and no need to hire Taxi from the city center.

* Norbulingka Institute:

It is at 4 Km from the city and is a perfect place for practicing and fostering Tibetan culture and art. Institute in itself contains Tibetans architecture and design classics.

* Namgyal Monastery

It is also known as Dalai Lama's house at 4 Km from the city and has around 200 small to older monks in the house that can be seen easily practicing Buddhism (can be visited between 5AM to 8.30 PM without any fees). The monastery can be reached by a small walk from the city center and there is no need to hire taxi/Cab for that.

In the city, you can find the number of Hotels/Guesthouses and can select based on your comfort level. (Must try to reside in Homestay if possible at some distance from the city). 🌉🌉By Road/Bus to Manali

It is the most common medium of transport used by the people as It is about 40 km from Kullu District Headquarters and around 535 km from Delhi. It takes about 12-14 hours of journey to reach Manali from Delhi via a bus, there are lots of Bus services of Himachal Roadways Himsuta, Haryana Roadways and Private Volvo Buses are available between Delhi ISBT to Manali. Chandigarh is also 293 Km from here and every Bus coming from Delhi to Manali halts at Chandigarh, so one can easily board buses here as well. Alternatively, private cabs can be hired from both major cities.

🚞🚞By Train to Manali

The nearest railhead (broad gauge) is at Chandigarh which is 293 km from Manali. Narrow Guage nearest railway station is Jogindernagar which is 165 Km from Manali and it is connected to Pathankot from regular train services. From Chandigarh onwards, one has to choose Buses or Cab as per own convenience. There is a train service ( Passenger) from Pathankot to Jogindernagar on a regular interval and from Joginder Nagar onwards one has to take Bu or Cab. Nearest Airport is Bhunter Aiport situated at Kullu 40 Km from Manali. Bhunter airport is connected to the major cities of India like Chandigarh and Delhi at regular intervals by flight operations of Air India, Spice Jet, Indigo and others. Flight schedules are subjected to change depending on prevailing weather at Kullu, so it is better to check prior boarding the flight.

👓👓Best time to Visit Manali:-

The best time to spend your precious time in Manali is March to June which is Summer Season and charm of the station is precious in this season and will get a mesmerizing view of blossoms of flower at full swing. Temperature lies between 10 to 25 Degree during this time. All activities like Rafting, Paragliding, Trekking, Camping is best enjoyed in this season.
October to February which is Winter Season and one can easily find Snow everywhere in Manali and as maximum spots are Snow laden so adventurous activities in this season come to halt so adventure lovers can best avoid this time.
June to Mid September is the 'Monsoon time' which I suggest to be avoided as there are a lot of instances of Landslides, Road Blockades en route to Manali. Rivers get flooded which is another danger for spot sightseeing.

# Rohtang Pass

It is a link or passes between Spiti Valley & Leh to Manali located at 3980 Meter Altitude and 40 Km from the city center. It is a must-visit point while going to Manali. The time required to visit Pass is 4 to 5 hours and the best time to visit is from June to October as from November to May Pass remains closed due to Snow. There are no entry fees to visit Pass. You can Experience the Nature at its Raw form on reaching to Peak as it will give attractive white ranges and nature at its best. 500 Rs is the permit fee for tourism purposes in Rohtang Pass and Pass remains closed Every Tuesday for maintenance purposes.

Rohtang is an ideal for Trekking as its trekking path passes through Glaciers, waterfalls, and mountain peaks. The famous trekking route is 118 Km Manali - Lahaul Pass which includes Sulphur spŕing in Bhrigu lake as the main challenge with it. Another popular Trek is Gulaba to Bhrigu Lake, Batal to Rohtang Pass (63Km) and Batal to Jalori Pass (227 Km). Batal in itself is a good connecting point from where you can go to popular Chandra Taal located 18 Km from Batal.

Sledge ride in Manali

It is another activity one can enjoy at Rohtang. Rohtang Tunnel which is going to be Operational in December 2019 on Manali-Leh highway will reduce the timing to reach Pass from 4 hours to just 40 Minutes if it goes as per plan. Some points to note down before visiting pass is please try to visit pass in the daytime, rent snow clothes after comparison with govt fixed price and altitude sickness is common here so preparedness for it to be there in advance.

# Solang Valley in Manali:

Valley is located at roughly 15 Km from Manali on Manali-Rohtang Highway. It is the most visited place in Manali which remains open throughout the year and can be visited from 9AM to 6PM.

From November to March valley remain snow-laden and there are many adventurous activities that can be undertaken here including, Parachuting, Paragliding, Skiing, Zorbing, Horse riding, Driving open jeep. Parachuting is replaced by Zorbing in summer. Paragliding remains closed during Monsoon time because of unfavorable weather conditions. Pricing for the same is 600 to 1800 Rs depending on the length of the ride.

Zorbing is charged 500 Rs and is a must-try for the sport for the lovers.

One overhead cable ride also present which takes visitors to peak giving breathtaking views of the valley. Local peoples will approach you with rabbits, snakes, local attires to try for photography so it is my humble request that does try with them but Bargain before doing and don't take their offered price simply. There are lots of refreshments option available in the valley.

# Beas Kund Trekking in Manali :

It is popular and must go Trekking destination for each going to Manali. It will give you mesmerizing views of Peer Panjaal ranges over the Beas River. Dhundi is actually starting point for it which can be reached through road from Manali via Solang Valley. From Dhundi it is 6 Km till campsite at Bakarthach which is high altitude meadow with its great beauty. From here one has to go Beas Kund as there is no camping facility available near Kund. The campsite is available only in Dhundi and Bakarthach where night bone fire can be enjoyed with friends and family. (Please avoid carrying plastic and liquor to kund)
Carry sufficient warm clothing, own trekking gear, raingear, and shoes. Take permission in advance for trekking.
There is no electric supply available so carry spare batteries for camera and cellphones.
Visitors get guides, potters, along with them and will be provided with sleeping bags, tents, etc and charge for the same during entire trekking is around 7500 per person.
Time for this trekking is Mid May to October and the highest peak during Trek is 12100 Feet.

# Vashisth Bath in Manali :

It is located 6 km from the city in the compound of Vashisth Temple. Bath is a hot water spring believed to carry medicinal values in it. The government made separate arrangements for the bathing of men and women and fees for the same is 35 Rs per person.

# Manu Temple in Manali :

The temple is dedicated to sage Manu known as the creator of the Human race as per Hindu Mythology. Temple is just 3 Km from the Manali market and can be reached via public transport or by foot as well. It is the only temple dedicated to sage Manu in the world.
The best time to visit Temple is from April to June. Temple is architected in Pagoda style. Road to shrine may be found difficult by some because of the narrow road but will encounter with picturesque views along the road. You can visit Temple anytime between 6AM to 5PM.
Points to note that ... no photography allowed inside Temple also has to cover your shoulders and body above knees.

# The great Himalayan national park

It is about 65 km from Manali and situated in the Kullu region surrounded by Himalayan mountains. It is home to 375 species of fauna,181 species of birds,31 species of mammals and is the perfect location for photography and Trekking.
Permit in advance is required to visit the National park and the same can be obtained from Shamshi head office, range offices in Ropa in Sainj valley or at Shairopa in Tirthan Valley.
The best time to visit is April to June and December to February.
Rest houses/Transit stay available near the park plus you can opt for homestay in villages. In addition to all 14 guest houses in the park also present and forest guest houses available at Aut, Banjar, Sainj, Shangarh.

# Old Manali

It is differentiated by New Manali by the Manalsu river is a perfect offbeat destination with less crowd. One can enjoy the charm of nature on foot in Old Manali. Hidimba Temple, Vashisth temple is in Old Manali. Jogini falls is also worth to visit.

# Nehru Kund

It is another spring that is a destination for photography and named after First PM Sh Jawahar Lal Nehru as it is said that he used to take freshwater from this spring while his stays in Manali. It is believed that the source of water to it is Bhrigu Lake.

Another destination to reach out in Manali is Gaytri Temple at 7 Km from Manali, Jana waterfall at 11 from Manali, Gadhan Theckchhokling Gompa Monastery at 20 km, Arjun Gufa, etc.

Chandertaal

I can say one among the best place in India for Camping and Trekking Holiday is Chandertaal which literally means Moon Lake in Hindi and located in Himachal Pradesh en route Spiti Valley from Manali.

How to reach Chandratal?

The best way to reach there is by your own vehicle, as state transportation provides only one bus and the Taxi will levy heavy charge from you. You can easily find many bikers there en route as this route is favourite for bikers.

By Road/Bus to Chandertaal

It is the most common medium of transport used by the people as It is about 130 km from Kullu District Headquarters and around 625 km from Delhi. It takes about 12-14 hours of journey to reach Manali from Delhi via a bus, there are lots of Bus services of Himachal Roadways Himsuta, Haryana Roadways and Private Volvo Buses are available between Delhi ISBT to Manali. Chandigarh is also 293 Km from Manali and every Bus coming from Delhi to Manali halts at Chandigarh, so one can easily board buses here as well. Alternatively, private cabs can be hired from both major cities.
Now, from Manali onwards, one has to take either private cab or state transport bus for Chandertaal. The bus is available between Kullu to Kaza and the bus will drop you some 18 Km near your destination and from there next 18 Km is to be covered by own. The Bus from Kaza to Manali departs daily from Kaza at 0400 AM while Bus from Manali to Kaza departs from Manali at 0500 & 0530 AM on a daily basis. Fare of the bus is at around 400 Rs.

🚞🚞By Train to Chandertaal

The nearest railhead (broad gauge) is at Chandigarh which is 380 km from Chandertaal. Narrow Guage nearest railway station is Jogindernagar which is 255 Km from Chandertaal and it is connected to Pathankot from regular train services. From Chandigarh onwards, one has to choose Buses or Cab as per own convenience. There is a train service ( Passenger) from Pathankot to Jogindernagar on a regular interval and from Joginder Nagar onwards one has to take Bus or Cab. Options for Accommodation at Chandertaal

The only available option is camping there as there are no Hotels/Guesthouses nearby. The nearest habitat is Losar which is around 50 Km away. When approaching from Kaza or Losar to Rohtang pass, as and when Kunzum Pass top crosses, a small road that is barely 8 feet wide takes you to Chandratal, about 18 km from Kunzum Pass. There is no habitat/Hamlet/village around the lake and you will have no choice except staying in the Camps near Chandertaal

The nearest and only one accommodation facility one can have or available is at Batal and there is only one Dhaba type thing being run by Uncle and Aunty which is very famous on social media among bikers group as it is the only spot for refreshment and living after much distant travel, secondly the nature of owner makes it special. This Dhaba is located at the bank of the river and has a perfect location to have a peaceful stay where you may get a bed to sleep on for the night in exchange for a couple of hundred rupees.

In addition to the Dhaba, Batal also has a PWD guest house. If you want to have stayed in a building; then this will be the best choice after Losar till Rohtaang and it is equipped with the facility of a satellite phone, numbered 08991722020, and same can be used for enquiry of availability of Accommodation there and for advance booking if available.

Chandertal Lake is closed for tourists for almost 7 months in a year

The distance of campsites from Chandratal

Campsites were in close vicinity of lake which earlier it used to be @ distance of hardly one kilometre but now, the campsites are shifted from there to a new location which is at distance of about 3 kilometres because Camping at lake is now being avoided by a legal provision in view of not to disturb its ecological system. So from campsite one has to walk to the lake and come back.

Price of Camping @ Chandratal?

It largely depends on your negotiation skills but one can expect it to be anywhere close to Rs. 1500 per person in which meals included. charges also depend on the facility you want to avail there. Hot water can be made available there but don't expect it to b in tap but in the bucket only

How to reach Chandertaal after Batal/Kunzum Pass

After reaching Kunzum pass when one proceeds towards Batal there is small road deviating from the main road which goes directly to Chandertaal and this small road is very easy one can miss, so be alert otherwise after reaching Batal one has to come back, in addition, there is signboard is also there. Private taxi one can hire but will be costly and shared taxis are next to non-availability.
There is also a bus service from Manali to Kaza and back which starts early in the morning from both Kaza and Manali. You can board this bus as well. But keep in mind that this bus will drop you at Kunzun pass only and from there you have no option except trekking to Chandertaal so be ready for it if you are availing state transport services.

Pitch your own Tent @ Chandratal?

Yes, you can, as a matter of fact, most of the Bikers group do it in the same way but my humble request is to first check the site for tent pitching for three reasons:-

One is it should be nearby to other campsites so that resources can be availed by you present there

Secondly, wild animals do come to the lake at night so there is the point of safety.

The third reason is, local shepherds, treat Chandratal as their private property; and all the owners pay them money for running their campsites at the lake and I don't want tourists like you to pay the same
