Karnataka is one of the well known state in India with capital of Bangalore, has a 29 district (Some of the district newly joined), Official Language is Kannada and other languages are Konkani, Kodava, Tulu, Hindi. This is the eighth largest states in India and Karnataka covers area of 191,990 sq km and is home to 52,000,000 peoples, most of them are Hindus, and other religions are Muslims, Christians, Jains and Tibetan Buddhists. This state is famous to information Technology and No.1 in India. Karnataka has many famous Temples some of them are Udupi Krishna Temple, Keshava Temple (Somnathpura), Dharmasthala Sri Manjunatha Temple, Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple and many ancient temples has deep backgrounds such as Hampi and Hassan.

Tourism in Karnataka has the deep efforts by people and nature. Trekking in Karnataka is also one of the best interesting subject to tourists, there are many trekking places, some of them are Coorg, Kemmanagundi, Agumbe, Western Ghats ranges are the best spot for perfect trekkers. Coorg has many trekking routes which contain lush forest, deep valleys, waterfalls and good landscapes.

Karnataka is the tourists paradise both human and nature efforts here to make Karnataka as a tourist place. It's long sea shore has beautiful beaches and ports. Coastline of Karnataka, called as 'Karavali region' covers 300 Km between Dakshina Kannada District to Uttar Kannada District and has one major and ten monor ports in Mangalroe, Karwar, Old Mangalore, Belekeri, Tadri, Honnavar, Bhatkal, Kundapur, Hangarakatta, Malpe and Padubidri.

This state has Five National Parks, some of the main are Nagarahole National Park, Bandipur National Park and Bannerghatta National Park, and has 25 wildlife sanctuaries, Western Ghats region is home to many rare Animals, fauna and flora. The National Parks has many kinds of wild animal like Deer's, Bison, Tigers, loins, Elephants, Blackbucks, Bear, Wild Dogs, Leopards, Water Buffaloes, and many kinds of animals in this beautiful state. Karnataka is also well known for sandal woods, and for many kinds of Medicine trees.

Karnataka is well known place to best waterfalls in India, tallest waterfalls in India is Jog Falls created by sharavathi river (jumps from height of 293m.) is at Shimoga district. Shivanasamudra falls in mandya district has twin jumps (Gaganachukki and Barachukki). Coorg District has a three beautiful falls, Abbey (Abbi falls), Irupu falls (Iruppu falls), Mallali falls. Hebbe falls in Kemmannagundi, and many falls in Karnataka. Karnataka has great history in hampi, Hassan, Mysore, Bijapur, Bidar, Mangalore, Chitradurga, Belgaum, Kolar, and other districts in the state. This four-faced hill (1368m) resembles a Nandi from the east, a Ganesha from the west, a linga from the south, and a cobra from the north. Once in 12 years the well known Jainpilgrim centre, Shravanabelagola in Karnataka, gets transformed into athrobbing city, when thousands of devotees converge to participate in the spectacular ceremonies for the Maha Mastakabhisheka (sacred head anointing ceremony) of the magnificent 18m high statue of Bahubali. This event commemorates the first Maha Mastakabhisheka performed in 981 AD,by Chavundaraya, the prime minister and commander-in-chief of the Ganga Kingdom in Karnataka. Since the installation and consecration of the statue in 981 AD, the ritual has been carried out with a regular periodicity of twelve years. The last one performed in 2006, attracted lakhs of pilgrims from all over the world. The Maha Mastakabhisheka is the most thrilling act of worship seen anywhere in the world.

The highlights of the celebration comprise the headanointing and the ritual bathing of the magnificent colossus adorning the top of the lofty Vindyagiri hillock that dominates the landscape all around. A spectacular procession where devotees carrying 1008 ornamental vessels containing sacred water, climb a huge scaffolding rising behind the statue of Bahubali, to perform the ritual bathing amidst scriptural incantations. At the second stage, the statue is bathed with hundreds of litres of milk, sugarcane juice, and pastes of saffron, and sandal wood. Then follows a torrent of powders of coconut, turmeric, saffron, vermilion and sandalwood, on the divine figure. The cascade of colours presents a dazzling and fascinating rainboweffect over the contemplative countenance of the saint. Precious offerings of gems, gold, silver petals and coins are showered as symbols of reverential homage. In the finale to the grand proceedings, a helicopter flies over the statue showering the choicest flowers on Lord Bahubali. The next Maha Mastakabhisheka will take place in 2018.

This harvest festival, literally meaning 'new rice crop,' is celebrated in Kodagu when the paddy is ready to be harvested in the months of November or December. The ceremonious cutting of the new paddy crop by the head of the family falls on a full-moon night and is accompanied by chants of "Poli, Poli, Deva" (increase, increase, O God.) A single shot is fired to summon Lord Iguthappa, the presiding deity of the Kodava people of Kodagu.

Discover the 9-day Karaga, a tradition started and sustained by a Tamil-speaking community of gardeners called Thigalars. The Karaga festival is held at the Dharmaraya Swamy Temple in Bangalore. Just after dusk on the Karaga day between March and April, a priest dressed in female attire leads a spectacular procession to the accompaniment of dazzling swordplay by a number of dhoti-clad, bare-chested Thigalars. On his head, he carries a flower-bedecked pyramid. A unique feature of the Karaga is the unbroken tradition of visiting the tomb of an 18th century Muslim saint every year - this custom has become a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity.

Treat yourself to the pomp and pageantry of the Dasara festival in Mysore. This festival commemorates the victory of the Goddess Chamundi over the demon Mahishasura. On the last day, a colourful procession of soldiers in ceremonial dress, cavalry, infantry, caparisoned elephants, and colourful tableaux wend their way from the palace gates to Bani Mantap, where the torchlight parade and a magnificent display of horsemanship mark the grand finale. Dasara in Madikeri is held with a procession of beautifully lit temple cars and a prize is given for the best decorated temple car.

Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV laid the foundation for this imposing Roman Catholic Church in 1933 which resembles the Cologne Cathedral. This Gothic structure has its halls adorned with beautiful stained glass windows where biblical scenes are depicted. Built originally as a chapel in 1818 by Abbc’ Dubois, St Mary’s Basilica was transformed into an imposing Gothic style church in 1874. A vaulted ceiling supported by Corinthian pillars and stately arches, coupled with the stained – glass windows from France, distinguish the interiors. Said to possess miraculous powers, Our Lady of Health, as St Mary is also known, draws thousands of devotees during the Feast in September. The Pope in 1974, elevated the church to the status of a Basilica.

The St Aloysius College Chapel was constructed in 1885. A line of circular pillars holds aloft an arched ceiling. Oil paintings on canvas bonded to the ceiling depict the life of Aloysius Gonzaga to whom the chapel is dedicated. The Chapel also has beautiful paintings done by Br Anthony Moschemi of Italy.

Melkote is an important religious centre. The Cheluvarayaswami Temple, built in the 12th Century, enjoyed the patronage of the Mysore Maharajas as well as Tipu Sultan. The temple Gopuram is rose-coloured and has lions' heads facing north, south, east and west. The cloister-area pillars display ornate carvings. The Vairamudi Festival is held here between March and April, when the temple deity is adorned with jewels belonging to the former Maharajas of Mysore.
