PMINT Expect RM120 Million Mega Complex To Be Ready By 2012

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu State Economic Development Corporation (PMINT) hope to complete the construction of a RM120 million mega complex in the city, by 2012.

PMINT general manager Datuk Zakaria Awang said the complex would comprise a 11-storey 210-room hotel, office space, four-storey commercial building and a three-storey car park.

"The project, temporarily named Paya Bunga Square, is the first of its kind in Terengganu and will be a landmark for PMINT," he told reporters when met at the PMINT Hari Raya event on Tuesday.

He said the complex was under construction behind the PMINT office in Jalan Masjid Abidin and next to the Kuala Terengganu City Council bus terminal here.

Zakaria said PMINT's move to build the complex was timely with the state government's wish to expedite development in the city.

As for the hotel, Zakaria said he hopes to find interested parties to purchase or rent the premises.

In another development, Zakaria said the PMINT would also construct four blocks, comprising 128 units of medium and high-cost housing in the Islamic Civilization Park, here.

He said clearing works on the 8-hectare land near the park would be carried out immediately to enable the project to start early next year.

Besides that, the corporation also plans to develop the old bus terminal located in Jalan Masjid Abidin, here.

Namun, bagi TTDI kesinambungan mempromosi tempat-tempat menarik dan segala khazanah negeri Terengganu haruslah diteruskan sampai bila-bila. Dengan itu, TTDI menyeru agar semua para peserta pertandingan agar terus mengemaskini blog masing-masing dengan informasi terkini, cerita yang mencuit hati dan gambar-gambar yang penuh erti. Prior to this, the Bakau Tinggi become a tourist spot located in Kemaman. However, for now it is in the improvement and closed for visitors. Typically, visitors come here for fishing and some of them bring their families for know and recognizing the living in the mangroves swamps.

Kuala Terengganu is an attractive city for a visit. There are several landmarks that you can find around the town of Kuala Terengganu

The first, as soon as you enter Kuala Terengganu from Kelantan state, you will be welcomed with the words "Allah, Peliharalah Terengganu" is being placed on the hill overlooking the main bridge into town.

Meanwhile, in the middle of town, you will find a very interesting landmark, a replica of the "Batu Bersurat".

In addition, the other a replica of one of the symbols that make this terengganu state is known throughout the world, which is a replica of the yacht. Sports yachts will be a world-class sporting events as the arrival of the monsoon. Monsoon Cup will be one attraction to the world to visit this country.

These three replica become the most important symbols of the state to introduce Terengganu to the outside world.

Bertarikh pada 1 Januari 2002, Majlis Perbandaran Kemaman (MPK) telah dinaikkan taraf dari Majlis Daerah Kemaman ke Majlis Perbandaran Kemaman di bawah Enakmen Negeri Terengganu, Bil 5 tahun 2002.

Kawasan operasi MPK ketika ini berkeluasan 1,335.081 km persegi merangkumi dua belas buah mukim iaitu Chukai, Banggol, Teluk Kalong, Kijal, Kemasik, Kertih, Binjai, Pasir Semut, Tebak Hulu Cukai, Bandi dan Hulu Jabur.

Pada 18 Julai 1996, persempadanan MPK telah dibuat perluasan di mana Kerajaan Negeri telah mewartakan seluruh Daerah Kemaman sebagai kawasan MPK. Ini menjadikan kawasan tadbir MPK seluas 2,535.59 km persegi.

Kenaikan taraf Majlis Daerah Kemaman kepada Majlis Perbandaran adalah berdasarkan kriteria yang telah ditetapkan oleh Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan iaitu :

1.Mempunyai penduduk melebihi 100,000 orang.
2.Memperolehi pendapatan tahunan melebihi 10 juta.
3.Mempunyai kemudahan infrastruktur bagi kebajikan penduduk.
4.Mempunyai pusat bandar setaraf ibu negeri.
5.Keperluan penduduk lebih kepada perbandaran.

Selepas Kemaman di isytiharkan sebagai sebuah bandaraya, maka pembangunan yang semakin pesat dilakukan di sekitar Bandar Kemaman. Selain daripada penambahbaikan infrastuktur, terdapat juga beberapa mercu tanda baru di bina di sekitar bandar ini yang dapat anda lihat sekiranya berkunjung ke sini.

Antara mercu tanda yang terkenal di sini ialah yang terletak di tengah persimpangan utama menuju ke Kuantan, Balai Bomba dan juga simpang ke Bandar Chukai Utama.

Mercu tanda yang di bina ini sangat unik dan agak berbeza dari mercu tanda yang terdapat di tempat lain. Terdapat dalam tiga jenis rekabentuk, dan salah satunya adalah berbentuk 'globe' dan ada juga berbentuk kapal, sebagai lambang kepada Bandar Kemaman yang terkenal dengan perusahaan perkapalan.

Di sekitar mercu tanda ini, di hias dengan air pancut dan juga pelbagai pokok bunga bagi mencantikkan lagi pemandangan di sekelilingnya. Pemandangan nya akan bertambah cantik di waktu malam kerana ianya di hiasi dengan lampu yang pelbagai warna.

Arca ini pula terdapat di kawasan Taman Awam Bandar Cukai, ataupun ianya lebih di kenali sebagai Padang Astaka.

Taman ini yang dilengkapi dengan pelbagai infrastruktur bagi kemudahan semua penduduk sekitar dan juga pengunjung dari luar. Selain terdapat padang yang luas untuk dilakukan pelbagai aktiviti, terdapat juga tempat bersukan yang dilengkapi dengan pelbagai alat bersukan untuk kegunaan semua.

Terengganu’s river tour to include more historical sites

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu’s latest tourism project, a river cruise that starts from the scenic Pulau Warisan jetty here, will be extended to the Admiral Cheng Ho temple on a riverbank at Kampung Jeram in Kuala Nerus.
Along the way, the cruise will also stop at Kuala Berang, where an inscribed stone was found that reportedly recorded the earliest spread of Islam to the Malay peninsula.
“We plan to incorporate a heritage trail in the river cruise, so that tourists could get the feel of how the early voyagers made trips here,” said state executive councillor Toh Chin Yaw.
He said the cruise, which started last week from the jetty of the new RM61mil man-made Pulau Warisan island, was expected to be a lucrative revenue spinner for the tourism industry.
Since its beginning, it has become immensely popular.
“We are thinking of extending the ride to cover the Cheng Ho temple, located upstream of the Sungai Terengganu,” added Toh, who is the state Commerce, Industry and Environment committee chairman, after taking the cruise with a group of people from the tourism and media industries on Saturday.
According to Chinese annals, Cheng Ho set foot in Kampung Jeram, a 30-minute boat ride from the Sungai Terengganu estuary, in the 15th century.
The admiral was said to have sailed here in 1414 and stopped for food and water at the small village on his fourth voyage from China to the Malay peninsula.
It is documented that Cheng Ho and his crew spent a few months at the village before setting sail for Malacca in 1415.
Legend has it that he left a footprint on the riverbed before his departure.
A century later, Chinese seafarers who came here built a shrine to commemorate his visit.
Now known as Sam Poh Kong, it was upgraded over the centuries and people flock there to offer prayers in memory of the admiral.
Toh said that apart from the temple, the river tour would make a stopover at Kuala Berang where the Batu Bersurat Terengganu was found during a major flood in 1899.
The Jawi inscriptions on the stone are believed to have been written around 1303.
Historians said this proved that Islam had reached Terengganu before the 14th century and that a government had existed long before Malacca was founded.
