It was wonderful to see everyone at the 1981 Surry Central High 30th Year Reunion last night and I love the fact that we are still just as loud, obnoxious, fun, irreverent, honorable and hilarious as we used to be as teenagers.

After I got tossed out of the homecoming dance by certain Dr. Ratledge (I wasn’t even drinking this time), four of us found one of the only open bars in the county and stayed until about 1 in the morning. We were just sitting around yapping, giggling, bellowing and having a round of a good time.

Can you pick out who is who in the cartoon above? Culprits all.

MY friends, here is to another 30 years.

The current crop of Republican candidates have come out against basic science recently following the trend of dumbing down America.

Breaking it down, they have stated they believe the Earth is only 6000 years old, hence they do not believe in Geology. GOP candidates stated they don’t believe burning fossil fuels leads to climate change, hence they do not believe in Chemistry. GOP candidates have stated they don’t believe CO2 block IR, hence they do not believe in Physics. GOP candidates have stated they do not believe in evolution, hence they do not believe in Biology.

Oddly, when I tweet about this, I get GOP hate tweets stating I don’t know what “chemistry means.” When directed to Wikipedia, I am accused of liberalism.

So if they already have a disbelief in science and since all science is based in mathematics, math must be the next

From Huffington Post:

Rebuked by voters, President Barack Obama is turning overseas, heading to Asia for 10 days of diplomacy, tourism and dealmaking that could boost the battered chief executive and highlight his political skills on the world stage.

Obama risks criticism he’s fleeing the Democrats’ midterm election wreckage for friendlier territory as sets out Friday on the longest foreign trip of his presidency, a sojourn through India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan aimed at highlighting America’s increasing engagement with Asia.

The trip is anchored by must-attend gatherings of world leaders in South Korea and Japan, timing unconnected to Tuesday’s midterm elections. The abbreviated stop in Indonesia, where Obama spent four years as a boy, was already canceled and rescheduled twice.

In India, the White House is intent on showcasing its commitment to the world’s largest democracy, and U.S. economic engagement with a huge and growing trading partner. The administration also views strengthened ties with India and other Asian democracies as a counterbalance to China’s rising power.

Gotta love propaganda. The building that everyone is all up in a lather about is the old Burlington Coat Factory outlet store in Manhattan. The new tenants have no plans to put a mosque in the facility but plan to put an Islamic Center. Before anyone gets wound up over that, these facilities tend to have things like basketball courts, swimming pools, soup kitchens for neighborhood poor – essentially these are YMCAs except they are Islamic.

In case the Tea Party forgets, YMCA stands for Young Men’s Christian Association. Maybe if we called the new facility a YMMA, all would be well? I doubt it.

Birth Of A Notion Disclaimer

From Wikipedia:

The turbulent end of state-sanctioned racial discrimination was one of the most pressing domestic issues of Kennedy’s era. The United States Supreme Court had ruled in 1954 in Brown v. Board of Education that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. However, many schools, especially in southern states, did not obey the Supreme Court’s judgment. Segregation on buses, in restaurants, movie theaters, bathrooms, and other public places remained. Kennedy supported racial integration and civil rights, and during the 1960 campaign he telephoned Coretta Scott King, wife of the jailed Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., which perhaps drew some additional black support to his candidacy. John and Robert Kennedy’s intervention secured the early release of King from jail.

In September 1962, James Meredith tried to enroll at the University of Mississippi, but he was prevented from doing so by white students and other Mississippians. Robert Kennedy, then Attorney General, responded by sending some 400 U.S. Marshals, while President Kennedy reluctantly sent about 3,000 federal troops after the situation on campus turned violent. Riots at the campus left two dead and dozens injured. Meredith finally enrolled in his first class. Kennedy also assigned federal marshals to protect Freedom Riders.

As President, Kennedy initially believed the grass roots movement for civil rights would only anger many Southern whites and make it even more difficult to pass civil rights laws through Congress, which was dominated by conservative Southern Democrats, and he distanced himself from it. As a result, many civil rights leaders viewed Kennedy as unsupportive of their efforts.

On June 11, 1963, President Kennedy intervened when Alabama Governor George Wallace blocked the doorway to the University of Alabama to stop two African American students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, from enrolling. Wallace moved aside after being confronted by federal marshals, Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach and the Alabama National Guard. That evening Kennedy gave his famous civil rights address on national television and radio. Kennedy proposed what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Kennedy signed the executive order creating the Presidential Commission on the Status of Women in 1961. Commission statistics revealed that women were also experiencing discrimination. Their final report documenting legal and cultural barriers was issued in October 1963, a month before Kennedy’s assassination.

President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time on November 22, 1963, while on a political trip to Texas to smooth over factions in the Democratic Party between liberals Ralph Yarborough and Don Yarborough (no relation) and conservative John Connally. He was shot once in the upper back and was killed with a final shot to the head. He was pronounced dead at 1:00 p.m. Only 46, President Kennedy died younger than any U.S. president to date. Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the Texas School Book Depository from which the shots were suspected to have been fired, was arrested on charges of the murder of a local police officer and was subsequently charged with the assassination of Kennedy. He denied shooting anyone, claiming he was a patsy, but was killed by Jack Ruby on November 24, before he could be indicted or tried. Ruby was then arrested and convicted for the murder of Oswald. Ruby successfully appealed his conviction and death sentence but became ill and died of cancer while the date for his new trial was being set.

President Johnson created the Warren Commission—chaired by Chief Justice Earl Warren—to investigate the assassination, which concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin. The results of this investigation are disputed by many.

Yesterday Joe Wilson did not fail to entertain again. He emitted several apologies that really weren’t. In one interview he claims the GOP leadership told him to apologize, it wasn’t something that came from his heart. Now he claims he is sorry but wants people to send him money.

His false apology was never in response for being wrong. He wrongfully claims that the health care bill offers insurance to illegal immigrants when in fact it has a section devoted to denying health care insurance to illegal immigrants. So if you read his apologies, he only apologies for his behavior and not about being out of touch, willfully ignorant and plain-assed wrong.

So in that spirit, I give you today’s strip!

P.S. No one really complained.

Sometimes you have to wonder about Republicans, especially those elected. I know some Republican citizens who work for a living and they have their heads on straight, but these ass clowns in Congress make me scratch my head.

The follow-up to the President’s speech evolved into this “socialist rally” as Obama “marched us to Hell.”

I would not mind talking to Republicans to find solutions to today’s problems, but it is difficult when those elected cannot recognize reality.
