Notice of Disruption in Service | King Street East Lane Reduction

There is currently a planned service disruption. The estimated time of the service disruption will be:

From: September 21, 2026
To: September 25, 2026

Please be advised that King Street East will be reduced to one lane between Shoppers Drug Mart (615 King Street East) and the Pioneer Gas Station (560 King Street East). Motorists should expect delays, obey all posted signs and traffic-control personnel, and proceed with caution through the affected area.

Please allow additional travel time and use an alternate route where possible.

Notice of Disruption in Service | Confederation Park Water Fountain

The disruption includes:

The Town of Gananoque Confederation Park Water Fountain has had considerable damage due to weeds, logs etc. floating down the river bumping into it and catching the wires. This has caused considerable weight and force on the electrical cable as well as the security cables holding it in place. It has caused a safety concern, and power has been shut off to the fountain until we can assess total damage and repair. Staff will pull the fountain on Thursday September 17 and review repairs with an electrician all efforts will be made to have it running for this weekend. If not easily repairable, the fountain will be removed and taken out of service for needed repairs and reinstalled in the spring of 2027.

Elmwood Watermain Extension – Contract UTL-2026-04

Beginning September 21, 2026, the pedestrian path connecting King Street East to the intersection of Pine Street East and Elmwood Drive will be closed to the general public for the duration of construction associated with the Elmwood Watermain Extension project.

Pedestrians are asked to follow all posted signage, avoid entering the construction area, and use an alternate route.

The Town appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure work is completed.

Fall leaf and yard waste collection starts this week!

Tuesday, September 15 – If today is your regular garbage collection day, leaf and yard waste should be out at the curb this morning.

Friday, September 18 – If Friday is your regular garbage collection day, please have your bagged leaves and yard waste out by collection day.

Remember: Each bag requires a valid bag tag.

Notice of Disruption in Service | Traffic Lanes on King Street East

There is currently a planned service disruption. The estimated time of the service disruption will be:

The disruption includes:
Traffic lanes on King Street East, from Charles Street to Carmichael Drive, will be temporarily shifted and/or closed while the Town and our contractor apply a protective surface treatment to all three driving lanes. Please follow all posted signage, traffic control measures, and detour routes.

At least one entrance to all businesses on King Street East will remain open throughout the work; however, access may be temporarily limited at times due to construction activities.

Temporary pavement markings will be installed following the treatment application. Line painting will be completed several weeks later to ensure proper adhesion to the treated roadway surface.

Please be advised that the automatic door-opening button at the accessible entrance on the west side of the Visitor Centre, located at 10 King Street East, is currently out of service. Rural Ontario Development Cost-Share Fund

Business Development Stream
The Rural Ontario Development (ROD) Program provides cost-share funding to help small rural businesses strengthen their operations, improve competitiveness, and support local economic growth. The program supports projects that address barriers to economic development, build business capacity, attract or retain investment, and support jobs in rural communities.

Eligible businesses can receive 35% of project costs, up to a maximum of $10,000.

General eligibility: Businesses must have 1–20 employees, be operating at the time of application, and be paying agricultural, commercial or industrial property tax either directly or through rent or lease.

Eligible projects may include:
• Market or product diversification, including market research, marketing plans, new marketing materials, or initiatives to enter or expand into new markets
• Cybersecurity, including cybersecurity assessments and improvements to business security measures
• Succession planning, including developing a plan to prepare a business for ownership transition
• Accessibility improvements, such as ramps, automatic door openers, and other accessibility infrastructure

Application deadline is October 1, 2026. Funding is awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
