  <title>Town of Gananoque News for Council June 17, 2026</title>

&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Dave Schur, owner of 279 North Street appeared before Council as a Delegation to request Council provide an exemption from Water Works By-law No. 2008-020 to allow the use of existing water/sewer line from the dwelling to the development of a detached garage to install a washroom. Council directed Staff to bring back a report by July 2nd, 2026, with recommendations, if any, to amend the Water Works By-law for installation of meters to detached units and/or buildings but no Capital Infrastructure fee until converted to residential, with financial implications and how to add capital charge on conversion to residential of secondary buildings.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council approved an exemption to the Traffic &amp;amp; Parking By-law No. 2015-070, to allow free parking on Wednesdays in the Pine Street parking lot until November 30, 2026, in response to a request for parking relief by the Gananoque Seniors Association and Gananoque Royal Canadian Legion.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;The Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) Revenue Summary Report was received for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council read for a third (3rd) time and passed the 2026 Tax Rates and Ratios By-law No. 2026-055.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;The 2026 Quarter One (Q1) Community Grant Program and Casino Reserve Funding Report was received for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council received the 2026 Quarter One (Q1) Financial Results and Forecast for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A Development Charge (DC) Reduction Program Report was received for information. Council directed staff not to proceed with an application at this time.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A Budget Deviation in the amount of $6,967.51, to cover the taxes for the purchase of a new street sweeper was approved. Council also passed By-law No. 2026-057, authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign an agreement with Cubex Limited for the procurement of a new street sweeper to an upset limit of $419,582.85 (exclusive of Town share of HST).&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council received for information a report for 251 Third Street (formerly known as 305 Third Street) on updating Groundwater Sampling and Monitoring Report.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council approved a Budget Deviation of $443.84, to cover the shortfall of the purchase of a sidewalk multi-function tractor and passed By-law No. 2026-058, a By-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;to sign an agreement with Joe Johnson Equipment for the procurement of one (1) sidewalk multi-function tractor, to an upset limit of $187,150.00 (exclusive of the Town share of HST).&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A Budget Deviation of $2,220,490.00, to be funded through borrowing, was approved and a subsequent By-law No. 2026-060 passed to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign an agreement with Orin Contractors&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Corp., for the procurement of services to complete the reconstruction of Phase II of Arthur Street between Charles Street and the eastern dead end of Arthur Street, to an upset limit of $6,112,610.00 (excluding the Town’s share of HST).&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council approved a $5,976.00 Budget Deviation to fund a shortfall of budget for the Elmwood Drive Watermain Replacement project. Council passed By-law No. 2026-059, to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign an agreement with Len Corcoran Excavating Ltd., for the procurement of services to complete the watermain replacement on Elmwood Drive to an upset limit of $436,494.00 (excluding the Town’s share of HST).&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A Budget Deviation of $900,000.00 was approved for the East End Pumping Station (EEPS) project to be drawn from the Wastewater Reserve.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A Motion was passed directing Staff to reply to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing correspondence regarding Protecting Ontario’s Streets and Communities Act – Proposed Amendment, to request that section 70.2 of the Planning Act be included in the Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP) system.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Next Council Meeting&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;July 2 at 2:00 PM (Special Meeting)&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;July 15 at 5:00 PM (Regular Meeting)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Council and Committee Meetings will take place in person and virtually.&lt;/p&gt;

  <title>Town of Gananoque News for Council May 20, 2026</title>

	&lt;li&gt;Shannon Griggs, Gananoque Seniors Association and Bob Howard, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92 appeared before Council to request the consideration of allowing free parking in the Pine Street Parking lot on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, to allow seniors to attend the Seniors Drop-In Centre. Council passed a motion requesting that Staff bring back a report for consideration at a future meeting.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Mayor Beddows proclaimed May 17th-23rd, 2026, as “Paramedic Services Week”.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council postponed the, “Recording and Making Available Council Meetings” staff report to December 2026.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;A By-law was passed by Council to amend the General Fees and Rates By-law – Schedule ‘G’ – Taxi Meter Rates,. Changes to the Taxi Meter rates include the following:
	&lt;ul&gt;
		&lt;li&gt;“One way within Town limits (includes wheelchair accessible van)” to remove $10.00 and replace with $13.00;&lt;/li&gt;
		&lt;li&gt;“Delivery” to remove $15.00 and replace with $16.00, and;&lt;/li&gt;
		&lt;li&gt;“Waiting time” be replaced with “Waiting/Loading time”.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;/ul&gt;
	&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council approved a budget deviation in the amount of $972,082.00 for the completion of renovations at 400 Stone Street North, to accommodate additional daycare spaces. Subsequently, Council passed a By-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to sign an Agreement with David J. Cupido Construction Limited for the procurement of services to complete general contracting and renovation services.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council received the “2023 to 2026 Legal Costs by Category” report for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council passed a By-law to appoint Wesley McFarlane to perform the duties of Building Inspector.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council directed staff to bring back a report amending the Procedural By-law regarding staff reports to include all staff may author and present reports to Council.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;The Municipal Buy Ontario Procurement Directive, was received by Council for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council received as information, Improved Data Intelligence for Infrastructure Planning in 2026.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;The Casino Funding Annual Report was received for information.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Staff were directed by Council to bring back a report regarding the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) received from 2022 to 2025, and that a Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) report be presented annually.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council directed Staff to bring back a report addressing the Health and Safety concerns regarding Water Street, as per correspondence received from Lynda Garrah, and that the slope between Park Street and the Raceway be included in the report.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council directed Staff to being back a report recommending that fees be charged to individuals filing an Integrity Commissioner report against Council members.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Mayor Beddows advised that he will be bringing forward a Notice of Motion on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, requesting a Staff Report regarding the recent planting of trees within Gananoque.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council received an Integrity Commissioner report with respect to a code of conduct complaint regarding Councillor Osmond, which was found to not be a breach of the code of conduct. It was further directed that a copy of the report be attached to the Council Minutes of Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, and published on the Town’s website.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Council directed staff to retain the services of Frontenac Appraisal Services in the amount of $3,300 plus HST to appraise lands as presented in Council Report-PD-2026-IC-02.&lt;/li&gt;
