At present time the popularity of 3D shows as well as movies has increased quite a lot but as yet there are no options to watch such 3D media on smart phones. Currently just two phones support stereoscopic: LG Optimus 3D and HTC Evo 3D.

If you are like me who is very much interested in watching 3D media on other types of smartphones apart from HTC & LG then the alternative is TOYin3D.

That's how I felt when I visited the exhibition of Comme des Garcons’s Spring-Summer 2012 collection called White Drama.

The combination of experimental designs in white which has created the Japanese designer this season with the delicate and original installation designed by Rei Kawakubo is simply AMAZING. But seriously, in 3D it’s really mind-bending!

For art and experimental fashion lovers it’s a must. The amazing pieces Commes des Garcons has designed are the result of using different fabrics in white, sometimes with details in gray and yellow, to create clothes with obi belts as loops, layers, maxi sleeves and extravagant headdresses (including hoods), all characterized by the oriental and “rococó” style whose theme is life and its stages. Difficult to define, easy to enjoy!

The ‘3Days of 3D‘ workshop will be held on August 24, 25 & 26, at Hollywood Camera in LA. The theme of the workshop will be ‘How to be profitable with 3D‘. This will be the first in a series of workshops worldwide.

On hand will be professionals from the industry discussing 3D techniques.

Visit to the Atapuerca sites, declared patrimony of the humanity, has since this Monday with an audiovisual presentation in three dimensions that helps to understand the life of hominids that lived in the mountains of Burgos at different stages of human evolution. Under the name of ‘The cave of time’, visitors can choose from four videos with animations in three dimensions, in which it is possible to see a recreation of the environment in which they lived the homínidos ones, as well as some of the daily activities of species such as Homo antecessor, H. heidelbergensis, H. sapiens and H.neanderthalensis (Neanderthal man), which is knownalso lived in the saw of Burgos, to still not have located skeletal remains yours in the area.

Stereoscopic 3D for professional training of football referees

Researchers from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) are applying stereoscopic 3D to record exercises on offside position for the FIFA to use as teaching material in professional training courses for assistant referees.(OIC/UC3M). The objective of this innovation project is to improve the learning environment of the assistant referees with multimedia materials which offer a visual experience that is the most similar to what referees on the pitch experience, and which can train visual perception in decision-making calls on off-side plays. For that purpose, researchers in the UC3M Television-Film group: memory, representation and industry (TECMERIN) are using this 3D recording technique for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to use as teaching material in its training courses for assistant referees, within the framework of referee professional training and development all over the world.

I always hated video in weddings. The quality always look so cheesy. But not this one. This one was filmed with RED Epic cameras on 5K resolution and 3D! These are the same cameras that Peter Jackson is using for The Hobbit or Ridley Scott used for Prometheus. Gizmodo's friend Peter Chang—from Golden Gate 3D—sent us the teaser trailer for the world's first 3D wedding video shot in stereoscopic 3D on 5K resolution RED Epic cameras. They didn't take any photos, as "each frame can also be extracted as a high resolution 3D still image." That's a technique that some photographers are using now with mixed results—although most photographers don't film with RED Epics.

To say goddbye to May, I am going to talk about RetoMadrid, one of the most curious festivals for computers and classic games lovers, held the first weekend in Matadero Madrid (Spain). It is "Tim Burton Exposition", exposition of one of my favorite filmmakers, Tim Burton, which, after New York, Melbourne, Toronto and Los Angeles, it comes now to La Cinémathéque fraçaise in Paris until the 5th of August. A very complete tour of the history of Burton, from his student’s drawings and lesser-known animations to his latest works.

Fujitsu accessory to take 3D photos with your 2D smartphone

Fujitsu is developing a smart way to allow cellphones with only one rear camera to jump onto the 3D bandwagon. The concept is based upon an attachment which uses mirrors to send two discrete stereo images to the camera's sensor. The user then shoots their movie and uploads it to Fujitsu's servers for processing.

American moviegoers continue to find 3D movies exciting, according to a study released today by the International 3D Society. In a poll 2% of those surveyed had seen at least one 3D movie in the last three years. Asked to describe their experience, 71% said that their 3D experience surpassed watching conventional 2D movies, 31% reporting that their 3D experience was “incredible.”
