I'm considering purchasing a used '01 Toyota Echo-at 146k miles. This is higher than I'd hoped to find but I've heard Toyota's can be expected to run longer than your average Ford of Chevy. So my question would be-What is the average life (mileage) expectancy of a Toyota? FYI- I realize this is not the best car I could buy but I'm tight on time and money. It has been reported that our government is looking into the electronic failure of the Toyota accelerators as well as peddles and mats. Toyota does not want to hear this of course. This drive by wire technology replaces the normal design and relies upon electronic signals to accelerate your car instead of the standard physical connection between your foot peddle and the engine. The Toyota Yaris has recently peaked my interest with it's low price tag and amazing gas mileage, but is it's reputation as solid as other cars in the Toyota line?
