Alex Lambert Petition!

Following American Idol results this week, we have now an “Alex Lambert petition” seeking to reinstate the singer in the popular TV Show. The only argument is that he was sent home early on the show without having the opportunity to really shine. Although the petition is numerous (7,197 members so far), one has o wonder why they didn’t vote to avoid the elimination of his favorite singer.

Will this petition prosper? I don’t think so, the show has some rules and well, at least for now at this point of the game I don’t think they are changing Lambert’s situation.

Daylight Savings Time 2010 Tomorrow!

Tomorrow, Sunday, March 14, the United States will return to daylight savings time, which will mean among other things, that people will have to wake up an hour earlier. During this time, the clock will move from 2 am to 3 am, advancing one hour.

Daylight savings time will end on November 7th.

In the meantime, the LA Times has reported that this change could have some serious health hazards. According to the report, the incidence of heart attacks increases by 10% in the first three work days with the daylight savings time, and traffic accidents increase by 11%!

Amy Beck is the latest teacher being arrested for being sexually involved with a minor student; Beck, an L.A. teacher, taught at the David Starr Jordan Middle School where she was seen as a good teacher.

She is scheduled to be on court on March 25, and is currently in jail expecting what could be a 7 year prison punishment.

Little before discovering the sex scandal, Amy Beck resigned to her position in the school , saying she was going to move. It seems there is also an Amy Beck video circulating on the Web.

Kate Snow on NBC’s Dateline

ABC news anchor Kate Snow has decided to go to NBC News as a “Dateline” correspondent. Snow has been a co-anchor for around 6 years in ABC’s “Good Morning America” Weekend Edition.

“She’s the whole package,” “Dateline” executive producer David Corvo said of Snow in a statement. “She can cover breaking news, she can interview, she can write, and I’m happy she’ll be doing all that at ‘Dateline.’ ”

Her departure from ABC may be influenced by the decision of putting Juju Chang in the weekday edition of the show instead of Snow.

Daylight Savings Time Will Begin on March 14, 2010

This Sunday, March 14, will be the beginning of daylight savings time in United States, except for Hawaii and most part of Arizona. The change in time has been confusing for people throughout the years, so this year won’t be an exception.

The first daylight savings time took place in 1918 but it has been taken on and off depending on the current legislations in the States. The last time it was revised was in 2005 with the Energy Policy Act.

According to a survey made by the US Department of Transportation, the daylight savings time is preferred by most people since it brings long evenings with daylights to enjoy out-of-work activities. The daylight savings time will finish the first Sunday of November at 2:00am.

Evan Turner at the Buzzer Gives Ohio Win

If there were any doubts left about who should win National Player of the Year in college basketball, Evan Turner just extinguished them. He’s the best. Case closed.

Turner’s leaning 3-pointer from 37 feet away a flicker before the final buzzer lifted top-seeded Ohio State to a 69-68 win over No. 8 Michigan in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals. Officials reviewed whether the shot got off in time before ruling it good.

Ohio State remains alive for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament after a true escape job today against its archrival. The Buckeyes will face Wisconsin or Illinois on Saturday.

Michigan guard Manny Harris, who was brilliant in the second half with 22 of his 26 points, appeared to secure the upset on a fallaway jumper with 2.2 seconds left. The Wolverines spent the entire half clawing out of a hole they had created with a poor end to the first.

Watching Turner dribble up the floor, you have to question Michigan’s defensive strategy on the last play. Everyone in the arena knew Turner was getting the ball, and he faced surprisingly little push-back as he crossed the half court stripe and launched the game-winner. After a strong first half, Turner struggled a bit in the final minutes, but once again, he came up big when Ohio State needed him most. David Lighty and William Buford also stepped up nicely for the Buckeyes.

You have to feel for Michigan, which ended an extremely disappointing season with one of its better efforts. Harris and guard Stu Douglass were brilliant in the second half as Michigan took its first lead since midway through the first half with 29.4 seconds to go. The Wolverines were a preseason top 15 team hoping to build on an NCAA tournament appearance, but they finish 15-17.
