Hey there!

This summer is zooming right by and our schedules have been busy with one kid graduating high school, one graduating college, one wedding, one kid moving out, and another moving back home to save money. And that’s not even the half of it.

KC and I are staying plenty busy with the fullness of work and family life, as I’m sure you are, but I have to ask: are you taking care of everyone else and their schedules, but not taking care of YOU? I have a private, exclusive, FREE group where I support people through their journey of intentionally adding fitness into their lives – in about 30 minutes a day through Beachbody On Demand (kinda like the Netflix of fitness), a healthy menu plan, and a daily nutrient dense shake. Beachbody On Demand (or BOD) has over 625 workouts -every workout they’ve EVER created – available to you for a year membership of $99. Its an incredible price point when I used to buy one set of workout discs for around $120! (I believe P90X alone cost over $200 originally!)

Take a chance and join me. I’d love to have you! Here’s a little sneak peek to see what P90X workouts, for example, look like!

If you want to join me, hit the link above to get yours, then email me that you’re in! Once I see that you have access to BOD, I’ll add you to my exclusive group – I can’t wait to get to know you! coach@tracimorrow.com

My first child to get married is getting married on June 26, 2017! KC and I could not be happier!

He is a wonderful man, and we are very confident in their pairing as we’ve talked with them at length. <3 As the wedding approaches, my bride-to-be daughter has lost 15 lbs in the last four months just by making consistently healthy eating choices, working out for 30 minutes a day, and drinking her Shakeology daily. It sounds like an ad, because she used products and they WORKED.

Now, as we approach the 2 month mark to her wedding date, we are getting a group of people together to do an exclusive workout regiment: one that I’ve picked and one that Holli picked. Our favorites. Mine come from all over the Beachbody library, which is fortunate, because the whole library is ON SALE right now. For a year. Yep. A year. Think Netflix for fitness. Holli’s is one program. In its entirety. 30 minutes a day. But I don’t want to give it away.

If YOU would like to join us, we start on Monday May 1st! Email us (hit CONTACT button up top) and we’ll add you to our group, help you get set up to access the workouts (and shakes if you want them) and JOIN THE (wedding) PARTY!

Excited to experience this with you!

Four times. I liked helping people but I didn’t want them to think I was suddenly in it only for money.

But he kept asking. He told me I didn’t have to change a thing about myself or how I liked to help people. I could make it my own. And in the process provide additional income for my family of…soon-to-be-8…GULP…in Los Angeles.

I’m so glad he helped me push through my fears of suddenly being seen as a “salesy” person rather than a friend. Now, nearly 10 years later, building a home business has allowed me to stay home while I’ve raised my kids, and continuing to build friendships. Friends who became accountability partners, and then business partners.

We never changed who we are and WHY we help others. It has NEVER been about the money, but at the same time, with consistency and building trust and relationship, it’s provided for my family in ways I never dreamed possible.

And it still feels the same. This many years later and I’m still me, bringing new people onto my team who like me, really want and need to be healthy, and love to help other people go for it too.

Maybe you’ve heard of Beachbody Coaching but weren’t sure what it really was. And maybe you think you might be interested in considering joining my team.

I hosted a webinar and recorded it here.

Just log in, and you’ll hear me share my story, and the story of Beachbody. Who knows? You may find it to be something that, like me; is what you never knew you always wanted to be a part of.

I love “Aha Moments.” I had one today.

I’m listening to a book on audible that I’ve had on my shelf in hardback format for I don’t know how long, written by Simon Sinek called “Start With Why”. I learn better by hearing, so audible versions of books make so much sense for me. He said something I’ve heard so many times, but today it hit me in a new way; a thought transforming way. He said, “People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.” I don’t know how you learn best, but re-read that, or say it aloud to yourself, or write it down on a slip of paper and then read it aloud to yourself. We are not consumers of STUFF, we are consumers of PURPOSE.

When we buy something, we are buying an experience we want to have, a memory we want to make, a comfort where comfort is lacking; in essence, we “buy” into things that we believe will make our lives better. And its up to the person marketing or sharing the product, service, or experience to connect the dots from WHAT they have with WHY we want it.

I pushed pause on my phone and sat back to think. To examine this idea, that what I’ve chosen in my life up to this point has been because of the strength of “WHY.” I thought of my top three life direction “buy in’s:”

I chose to believe in God and follow Him. WHY? I chose to have faith that there was someone bigger than me, who made me for a purpose, who knew me intimately, and would help me love and experience life through a love that came from bigger than what I could conjure up. (Also because I knew based on my personal choices to up to that date and all these years later, that I am not capable to be god of my own life. )

I got married. WHY? I wanted to be in love, and to spend my whole life with one faithful someone, and create a family.

I had kids. WHY? I wanted to have a tribe of people to go through life with and experience life & the world to the fullest.

Those were the biggies, off the top of my head. Just wow. When we are deeply connected to our WHY, we stay strongly committed to the commitment. (or buy in, or product, or company, or relationship, or….whatever it is you’ve chosen.) It resounds with me because all of those three things have been VERY HARD at times – my faith, love, patience, and selfishness have been tried time and time again in each of those three areas. But my WHY is so strong, and deeply fulfilling, that I have pressed on in each area to find a new depth of WHY: relationships grow stronger when they are tested, and hold up, under pressure & pain.

Then I scaled it back a bit to analyze a few of my daily choices:

I choose to exercise and eat healthy. WHY? I have found through personal experience that it is really uncomfortable to carry extra weight. I hate the feeling of trying on everything in my closet and it being tight, and feeling “bulgy.” I think I am too young to feel how old I feel when my weight is up and I am out of shape. I want to be one of those elderly ladies that is active, and fun, and engaged in adventurous living.

I take calcium/magnesium pills every day. WHY? This is a biggie cuz I detest swallowing pills. But I had thyroid cancer last year, and a complete thyroidectomy, and a common side effect after this surgery is osteoporosis. I also get migraines and magnesium is supposed to help with that. I don’t want to get osteoporosis and I don’t want migraines. So I swallow these horse pills daily.

I get up every morning and read my bible, listen to inspirational teachings, journal, and pray. WHY? I love to learn. I like getting better at the things that matter to me, and I am most fresh and eager to learn first thing in the morning. My favorite time of day. The better I get at living my own life well, I am more liable (and credible) to help someone else live a life story that is deeply satisfying to them.

This has been an eye opening day for me! The more I think on this, the more powerfully simple and true I see it is. Back to listen in, though this book has already given me so much. And so my writings will hopefully be more connecting from here on out, because I will stop leading with WHAT and instead let WHY guide me, and hopefully you…to the application of HOW.

TOGETHER…we’re Better!

Be relentless. In pursuit of excellence.

Secondly, I FEEL like I’m walking around with my 175 lb hubby on my back much of the day. I’ve felt exhausted, emotionally drained, and very uncharacteristically sluggish.
Ten pounds up from where I was pre-surgery, and holding steady at this new number, I decided to become an expert of my own body/metabolism. I will remain medically hyperthyroid for the rest of my life because I’ve had thyroid cancer, so I needed to accept that I won’t suddenly FEEL like I used to, and I wanted to really see what my body could do. When I started back I felt like a beginner. I wasn’t sure I could ever get back to doing extreme home programs again as one hard workout initially zonked me for the remainder of the day, and oftentimes for the 2-3 days that followed. But I’d decided what I wanted, shared it with a group of friends and asked for prayer, made my plan (food and fitness), and committed to the process. And what a process it’s been. One that brought a bit more energy, but also frustration, discouragement, and annoyance at that blasted scale that wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I worked.
Frustrating, because for 13 years I’ve been fit and healthy. Starting over was frustrating but I knew I had to train smart and rebuild the muscle, ligaments, and supporting tendons.

Once I did about 100 days of this I went on to P90X3. LOVE that program. The scale didn’t budge in the downward direction, but my stamina was building and I was so thankful for that. I think I actually gained a pound eating about 1600 calories a day.

I then did “Hell Week” for 22 Minute Hard Corps and cut out all bread and no glass of wine with dinner. I was never much of a drinker, but when I hit 42-ish I began having a glass with dinner because of heart benefits. (and it tastes good :)) Back to water for dinner.

I just finished a round of 21 Day Fix Extreme. The scale has gone down a total of 2 lbs (SERIOUSLY?!) in all of these months of nearly squeaky clean eating and hard, consistent workouts. But I feel stronger and my stamina is up. I’m sleeping better, which is a huge plus after 2 years of insomnia due to thyroid and hormonal issues.

But I tell myself that a peaceful heart and a lighthearted spirit makes for laugh lines on an aging face. May my inner peace show on this aging face and my hard fought for wisdom & understanding show in my facial expressions. May every day I become a better version of my yesterday’s self. Exercising my body, my brain, my spirit no matter how it LOOKS afterward. Though I still would love to see my flat abs peeking through young, 30-something skin, I am taking care of myself so that I can get the most out of my life in this body I’ve been blessed with. Don’t YOU want that too? No regrets.

Several years ago I read a book that greatly impacted me called “Who You Are When No One’s Looking” by Bill Hybels. In the book, Bill talks about our integrity, our character; being defined by what you and I do when no one is looking. That book really hit me like a ton of bricks, because while I mostly made good choices, sometimes when I was frustrated or grouchy, the way I spoke to my husband or to my kids was NOT what I would want to define me. This “new to me” idea helped me understand that who I am in private is FAR more important than who I was in front of friends or neighbors, and that was made up of a series of decisions of who I would choose to be. Who was I? Really? Who was I when no one was around to praise me when I did something positive, or draw negative conclusions because I didn’t hold my tongue when I was annoyed? It really caused me to dig deep and to be more intentional about who I CHOSE to be, both privately and publicly. But it also revealed something in my heart that needed my attention: I wanted to be a person of character and that meant I needed to become more disciplined in some of the areas I’d not worked on within me. I knew that as I was becoming a leader it meant the stakes were going to be higher for me; if I wanted to lead others, I first needed to lead myself. I began thinking “If my friends from church or co-workers were in the room, would I say this or that?” It really helped me rein in my responses, and mostly my attitude that had gone unchecked.

This week I tuned in to an online training that someone was hosting; impromptu and unscripted. It was open to the public, and as it came on my radar, I tuned in out of curiosity. I was stunned. I was both embarrassed and shocked to hear the speaker being openly rude to her husband in front of her audience! I don’t know the circumstances that led up to that point, but she was clearly exasperated and snapped at him in front of the people she was ironically talking to about leadership. I quickly exited, as the audience was attempting to make jokes and defend him while she pressed on about his error in judgement. CRINGE. I kept trying to put a finger on why exactly I was so put off. First of all, I felt embarrassed. For her, for him, for the other audience members. I know that the new thought in leadership is “be transparent – even with all of your faults and failings” in the name of authenticity. This was plain uncomfortable, unprofessional, and …. sad. I felt sad. For her, for him, for the other audience members. This wasn’t about judging her, it was about using sound judgement in discerning whom you choose to follow, and what you show as a leader, and then I thought, “If this is how it is in front of an audience, what is it like when the audience is gone?” I felt awkward, and again those seven little words drifted across my mind “who are you when no one’s looking?” Because when who you are when no one’s looking goes unchecked, it spills out uncomfortably when they ARE.

Everyone teaches us; either in ways we want to be, or how we don’t want to be. We’ve all been guilty of acting in a way that is not kind or patient. The lesson is this: who do I want to be when no one’s looking? What do I want to be known for by my family? They are the ones closest to me, and who deserve my best. Every day I pray and ask God to help me as I work to be the person I truly want to become, so that I love well the people that I’m blessed to call family. That starts with who I am when no one is looking, then who I am when it’s just my husband and kids, then who I am when I’m standing in a crowd, or on a stage. I’ve been intentional for now nearly 25 years, to ensure that I am the same person with those closest to me that I am with those who know me publicly, as far as my character goes. This week was a good reminder that who I choose to be in private eventually spills out when I’m in public, and I want to purposefully choose to honor & respect those closest to me in heart, word, and deed. Don’t you?

Be relentless. In pursuit of excellence.
