　Santa’s Toy Hunt and Santa Tracker in Google Earth
　Google has just released a special Santa Tracker for Google Earth this year! On previous years, Google has had a Santa tracker which let you watch Santa make deliveries all over the Earth using Google Earth on Christmas Eve. This year, the new version uses 3D models created with SketchUp of Santa’s North Pole home, his sleigh, and the toys you find are in 3D as well. According to the Google Earth Santa page, you must use Google Earth 4 version 4.0.241x+ . Anyway, if you have the latest GE 4, you can download the Santa Tracker and Toy Hunt here . Then you double click on today’s date in the “Santa’s Present Hunt“ in the Places folder. Zoom in for a closer view of Santa’s home, and click on today’s clue for the location and picture of the toy. Once you get to the correct location, a 3D model of the present will appear in 3D.
　　Presumably, on Christmas Eve we will see Santa traverse the planet delivering presents all over the world. This is a fun way to show off the dynamic abilities of GE, and its fitting that Google do it in full 3D style since the purchase of SketchUp last year. Merry Christmas!

Hang an ornament on the tree that reminds the child of the loved one. Help your child offer a blessing at a holiday meal that honors the person who died. Create a picture or collage with your child, display a favorite photograph in your home, or let your child help you set a place at the dinner table to represent the loved one who died.
Laughter, play and joy are good for your child. Children do not grieve continuously and they need to take breaks from grieving. Encourage your child to play, run, and do recreational activities he or she would normally do. Clowning around and laughing (which releases endorphins into the brain) are good for children. Kids have been trying for years to catch a glimpse of santa claus, but scientists now say they know what Father Christmas really looks like!
Using the bones of Saint Nicholas, a Turkish bishop from the fourth century who inspired the real Santa, they've made a reconstruction of his face.
Santa's a bit of a bruiser, with cropped hair, a short beard and a broken nose!
The scientists put together the model for a BBC2 documentary, The Real Face of Santa, broadcast on December 18.
Although he's not quite what we're used to, Saint Nick was a very generous man.
He became famous for givfts of cash, even saing a whole town from starvation.
His bones are kept in a church in Bari, Italy.

this is santa's route around the world. Santa usually starts at the International Date Line in the Pacific Ocean and travels west. So, historically, Santa visits the South Pacific first, then New Zealand and Australia. After that, he shoots up to Japan, over to Asia, across to Africa, then onto Western Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico and Central and South America. But keep in mind, Santa’s route can be affected by weather, so it’s really unpredictable. NORAD coordinates with Santa’s Elf launch staff to confirm his launch time, but from that point on, Santa calls the shots. We just track him!

Santa Claus may have a tough time getting through stormy weather around the world on Christmas Eve, but it appears as though the jolly old elf and his crew of reindeer should experience relatively smooth sailing across southern Ontario.

It may be hard to get your youngsters into bed at a decent hour, but before they hit the sack you can log on to a few websites to show them St. Nick's progress around the world. Tracking Santa's travels may prompt them to get some Zzz's before he lands on your rooftop.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) website will provide up-to-date info on Santa's whereabouts on the big night.

The organization has been tracking St. Nick's sleigh for the last 50 years. Officials use the North Warning System, which has 47 installations across the northern border of North America to check when Santa and his team depart from the North Pole.

Spruce trees and Christmas seem to go hand in hand. Every year near the start of December, families across Scotland cut down and erect these trees in their living rooms and decorate them.
So? What’s you point? You might ask. Well, have you ever thought that cutting down a tree, dragging it into your living room and covering it with plastic brightly coloured baubles and tinsel is a bit weird?
It certainly is an odd tradition and one that can trace its roots back through time to Germany. Although there are several very different versions of how we came to adopt this age-old tradition of worshipping dying trees and piling presents under them one fact about their origin is undisputed and that is the country which first introduced the universally recognised symbol of Christmas.
It will surprise many to learn that it was thanks to the Royal Family that the tradition became so popular in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert bought over the tradition from his homeland of Germany in the nineteenth century. And of course, if the royals were doing it, everyone else had to join in too and it was not long before the humble Christmas tree became an annual yuletide tradition in every household.
The royals may have been responsible for boosting the popularity of Christmas trees, but the origin of where the Germans got the idea from is steeped in folklore.
Legend has it that a man by the name of Martin Luther, a Christian, was the founder of the tradition.
The tale goes that he was walking home through the woods shortly before Christmas and on his way he peered up to see the moonlight poking through the trees and shining off the needles.
Impressed, Martin cut down the tree and took it home where he decorated it with candles to replicate the effect. His friends and family were so impressed by the idea that they did the same the following year.
Decorations were overtime introduced to brighten the trees further will people originally decorating them with fruits and berries. Over the years these fruits were replaced with other decorations until at last the modern day plastic bauble and silver and gold tinsel took over.
While this tale is one of many that has never been proven in its entirety, many others take on a similar vein of the world’s introduction to the humble Christmas tree.
And one more fact, Christmas Day was not always on the 25th of December. More than 250 years ago it was celebrated on the 5th of January.
