Thu, 24 May 2012 02:58:34 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/TracyRuthPhotographyBloghttp://feedburner.google.com Wedding in the Catskill Mountains!! {New York Destination Wedding Photographer} http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/TracyRuthPhotographyBlog/~3/6la1IbkAqJ8/ http://tracyrouthphoto.com/blog/?p=1583#comments Wed, 23 May 2012 21:08:17 +0000 tracy http://tracyrouthphoto.com/blog/?p=1583 I am so excited to share the photographs from my weekend in New York photographing a very sweet loving wedding ceremony!  The whole weekend went by so fast, but so wonderful.  I took my husband with me for the weekend and he even picked up a few new camera skills!  A few of these shots are going to be his :)  We flew into LaGuardia airport and rented a car and headed for the mountains!  The wedding was at The Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY.  It is a beautiful nature resort set along the Esopus Creek in the Catskill Mountains.  It is such a remote peaceful getaway.  There is zero cell phone service, lol!  Everone stayed in cabins spread out around the resort and there were different buildings for many different festivities!  After checking in, my husband and I started exploring the grounds.  I wanted to get a good plan of where some of my favorite shooting spots were going to be :)  I could have just hung out by the creek and skipped rocks for hours.  Yes, I was really skipping rocks.  We videotaped it :)

I am going to start with a few photos around the resort that I took on friday.  Would have been super cool if it had really been a full moon in this pic, haha!  Also forewarning of a lot of mossy pics.  I was loving the green moss growing on everything in site !!

I even learned how to work the self timer on my camera :)  And just in case you were wondering, it is pretty tricky to move a bunch of rocks to make your perfectly placed tripod and then run into the photo in 10 seconds jumping around a bunch of rocks.  I still have a nice shin bruise for one rocked that popped up and caught me in the shin ;)  But voila, pic of my and hubby in front of waterfall in not perfect light :)

And then it was off to a bbq that the bride and groom were having to greet their guests!  Very quaint, relaxing time they were enjoying visiting with their friends and family who have traveled from all over the world to be there!  From Israel, Hong Kong, the Midwest, and New York City of course.  I don’t know where everyone came from but those are just a few of places I remember off hand!

And I don’t remember the last time I saw the stars so vividly than I did from the resort.  I attempted a long exposure shot to capture them…..however my head is in the shot as I was jumping out of the way ;)

And these two sisters were so sweet, I must have taken a million photos of them over the weekend!  They are from Israel and didn’t speak much English, so it was pretty funny watching me trying to get them to go here or there for photos :)

Although the groom’s mom wasn’t in the country they were all able to Skype with her several times throughout the day and ceremony!!!!

This shot cracks me up!  I was experimenting with some long exposures and zooming in and out and made the girls look like superheros!  Hahahahaha!!

I am blessed to meet so many amazing people on my job, but let me tell you that the sessions that melt my heart are the ones where I get to photograph children and their families.  I always say that the most amazing thing that I have ever done or ever will do is to be a mom.  And to be able to get photos for a mom and dad that show the love of their children is such an honor .  As well as the opportunity to meet their little sweeties and photograph them :)  I have so many favorites of this session I am swooning over :)

This picture for sure melts my heart .  Poor thing fell down and scratched her hand and knee and kept saying  ”my hand is broken” in the sweetest little sad voice ever.  And she must have the best cousins ever, because she kept asking for them when she was hurt, awwwwwwwww!!!!!!

So many of you may know that I have been shooting some of the trendsetter section in HerLife Magazine since this time last year, but what you do not know is that now I am going to be alternating with my good friend Heather Morrow of Hocus Focus on shooting the covers as well!!!!  Working with HerLife has been a great experience and so fun meeting some of the super awesome women of Kansas City.   Of course we didn’t want to give up shooting the trendsetter section, so Heather and I will be alternating those as well!!!  How could we give up shooting all of the fab clothes from local boutiques, working with gorgeous models from Exposure, having beautiful make-up done by Melissa Evans and hair by Double Take Salon!

April’s trendsetter section was for Apricot Lane Boutique in Zona Rosa.  I had so much fun browsing through the boutique when I picked up the clothes for the shoot.  And if you are looking for a pair of Tom’s they have soooooooo many choices!!!!   And our model is Angela Lyman with Exposure Model & Talent, she was super fabulous and super fun :)  Our location for the shoot is Terrace on Grand, I love that place!!!!!!!!

There were so many beautiful moments through the day and I hope all of the photos will help you to remember each and every moment.  So here is a sneak peek of a few of those moments!

So thinking of warm late summer days at my parent’s farm, I will look forward to spending another day like this one with family!

I will start with Danice’s dress, the layers on it were so awesome!  Soft and flowing!

And if you are going to get married on New Year’s Eve, you are going to need a party dress!  Check out Danice’s reception dress!!!!

I have to say that one thing that really stuck with me at the end of the night was Danice’s grandparents.  I so much enjoyed watching them throughout the day.  Their love for Danice and their lasting love for each other was wonderful and inspiring to see.

And if Ryan didn’t know he had a keeper before this moment, he sure did then ;)  Sometimes a bump in your wedding like……say…..having the fire department come check for a gas leak……..could have sent a bride into a fit.  But that wasn’t the case here!  Love the next two pics!

I have to start with a repeat of one of their engagement session pics!  Their e-session was epic and worth showing a million times!  Heck, I was nervous wondering how in the world I was going to top that, haha!  Wheat field, storm in minutes, gorgeous couple=awesome!

I mean really, there was so much time and love put into every aspect of Lindsey & Jason’s wedding that I would need hundred’s of photos to not leave anything out.  So prepare for a big post :)

I have to start by saying that Lindsey, well Lindsey is my girl :)  I just love her, and I have found a soft spot for Jason as well :)  We have known each other for awhile, she  makes everyone smile, her sense of humor and style is amazing and she has a heart of gold.  As many times as I have photographed Lindsey over the years, my very favorite photos of Lindsey are with Jason!  When they are together, they both have that smile that is made with love.  Their eyes tell their story.  I was so honored to be a part of their wedding.  It was such a beautiful day.  I have goosebumps remembering right after the ceremony after they walked back down the aisle to smiles and waving homemade flags the moment they embraced and Lindsey said to Jason with tears in her eyes “Everything was perfect, just perfect.”  GOOSEBUMPS!!!!

I think I will start out this post with Lindsey’s shoes :)  Both pairs :)

And I just loved this photo, hahaha.  No, she is not really naked :)  I also love that you can see Lindsey’s mom getting her make-up done by the fab Melissa Evans in the reflection of the picture :)  Lindsey’s beautiful make-up was done by her very own east coast cousin :)

When deciding where to go for fun photos with the two of them and the bridal party, Lindsey told me to just pic and surprise her!  LOL, the pressure!!!!  I think I picked perfect for them :)

They were married at  St. John’s United Methodist which is such a beautiful church inside and out!  I love weddings there :)  And then their reception was at Midland Theater and if you have never been to the Midland then you are missing out :)  It was my first wedding reception to photograph there, but it is in my top 2 places in the city to watch a concert!  I saw my main man, Rob Thomas, there ;)   It was an amazingly beautiful reception with a surprise guest appearance from Willy the Wildcat!!!!  There was a lot of Kansas State loving going on for this wedding :)
