SpeedTrader has their iSpeedTrader iPhone App available for free download in the iTunes App Store. Any SpeedTrader client can download the app onto their iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. Enter your login information and you are into a basic mobile trading platform that includes charting, montage, watch list, and current trades.

TD Ameritrade is one of several brokers that offers clients commission-free ETFs. Their roster of over 100+ ETFs were selected and researched by the team of analysts over at Morningstar. They have a wide variety of both domestic and international indexes and you must be enrolled in their program to trade commission free. In addition, you must hold them for 30 days or be subject to short-term trading fees.

ChoiceTrade Announces New Options Pricing

ChoiceTrade has recently released new lower options commissions pricing for their clients. The options fees are now $5.oo per trade plus $.15 per contract. In addition there is only one ticket charge per trade irregardless of how many legs. Exercise and assignments options fees have also been reduced down to $5.00. The only stipulation is an additional $.35 per contract fee for index options listed here. Also, the once loved free week of options trades during expiration week has been ended. We speculate this was too much of a good thing for clients and even with the new lower prices the broker will be more profitable moving forward.

They have also announced that QuoteStream, their web-based full featured subscription streamer, will now be $9.95 per month which results in a 33% savings.

E*TRADE Releases 2012 Superbowl TV Commercial

E*TRADE (read our review) has uploaded their 2012 Superbowl XLVI advertisement* up onto their YouTube channel as of this morning, just two days before the big game between the New England Patriots and New York Giants. The short 30-second clip, titled “Fatherhood”, promotes Etrade’s Financial Consultants as a solution to the future costs a newborn baby for a parent. Obviously, per tradition, the commercial ends with a great tid-bit of humor that will have you laughing for sure.

We are excited this brand has continued to build on the E*TRADE Baby now for five years which has become a memorable icon for and can always be counted on for a great laugh!

New BETA E*TRADE Website for 2012?

Our staff was performing several random tests earlier today and may have accidentally stumbled upon a new 2012 Etrade BETA site. When the team member went to access etrade.com on multiple browsers, it was down on a few of them but a BETA variant was live on one. You can see the attached E*TRADE BETA site screenshot below. We are assuming this is close to release if they are at this testing point and perhaps a switch will come in the first quarter of 2012.

Notable differences from the current E*TRADE site include more use of black coloring, double header navigation bars (one which now includes the secure login area), a re-organized body area divided into a static section and dynamic slider bar area, and lastly the fact that a majority of the site is now “above the fold” making it more appealing. We also were not able to see what the “Show Markets” green arrow lead too, another new addition to the center market index information display section.

Our thoughts: We like the updated navigation and design/use of color… kudos to the Etrade design staff. Read our E*TRADE review or open a new trading account today!

GFT Launches DealBook Mobile

Earlier this week, GFT (read our full review here) launched an iPad/iPhone application for their DealBook trading platform; adding to the list of brokers who are mobilizing their proprietary platforms to work with tablets and smart phones. The application is called “DealBook Mobile” and offers rich, customized charting, streaming CNBC (US live stream, Europe live stream, Asia live stream), and of course the ability to execute and manage trades.

The factor that puts this application into “download-worthy” is truly the design of the charting functionality. Dealbook Mobile comes with a packed library of indicators for use on charts that are completely customizable and easy to look at. Of particular usefulness is the ability to place a particular currency chart front and center (of say EUR/USD), and on the left hand column, place charts of the associated currencies (EUR/GBP, EUR/JPN, EUR/CAD); to see how the currency in question is performing across other currencies:
