TPP at Constructo presents: Proyecto EN:2026 - Soleada al Sol by Emmanuel Navarro Pizarro

Trailer Park Proyects is proud to announce the next exhibition for the collaboration project between TPP and Constructo. The exhibition is titled Proyecto EN2026 - Soledad al Sol by Emmanuel Navarro. It's the 1st exhibition of the second season of our project.

The exhibition will consist of over 20 paintings Emmanuel has painted in Puerto Rico's landmark Casa Blanca. Emmanuel Navarro Pizarro is a open air expressionist painter and is well known for his traditional landscapes and still lives. He recently had a solo exhibition at Surco the up and coming artist gallery in Baymon where I had the pleasure of enjoying his craft and see how well he dominated oil painting.

Grnhaus (local greenhousefor plants) has partnered with us and will collaborate for this exhibition with a curated selection of plants that will dialogue with the paintings and help them feel closer to the real deal of being there in the wild looking at what Navarro sees when he paints in open air. The set up looks amazing and its like coming into the jungle inside the concrete jungle to experience a breath of fresh air in the middle of the city.

We will have live music and free wine sampling sponsored by Apothic Wines.

Opening will be on September 1st for Martes de Galeria, Hope to see you there at 6pm.

Jorge Jimenez pop-up solo show at Trailer Park Proyects - April 7th, 2026

El pasado 4 de abril, 2026, inaguro la exhibicion Pop-up del artista Jorge Jimenez en TPP frente a Constructo para martes de galeria. En su primera exhibicion Jimenez nos exhibe piezas creadas con retazos de vestimenta de los personajes folkloricos del festival de las mascaras de Hatillo la cual es una fiesta popular tradicional de la cultura de el area nor-oeste de Puerto Rico.

En esta la cual es su primera exhibicion formal, Jimenez nos una muestra alrededor de 12 piezas de tamanos variados, nos muestra unas abstracciones en tela creando visuales interesantes con una paleta de color pop creando una propuesta unica y muy original.

Solo un dia para conocer y aprender sobre la propuesta de este joven artista.

As part of Admin Torres exhibition Cuarto Intermedio, TPP has released a limited edition silkscreen print signed and numbered by the artist that will be sold at Constructo for $50. It's a great opportunity to own a great piece of art from one of the best painters in Puerto Rico at a great price.

The print is 11"x 17" and titled sin victoria, although Admin did some with alternate titles and signed them in different paint pen colors. Only a few left please let me know through Instagram @trailerparkproj if instested.

The print is part of the on going print series of Trailer Park Proyects to maintain and keep the print tradition in Puerto Rico strong. Printed at La Serigrafica print shop in Rio Piedras.

Como Construir una Isla Pop-up solo show by Fabian Detres for Espacio Dedicado an independent project by Tatina Tamargo

As Trailer Park Proyects grows, there are more responsabilities and less time to fulfill them. I understand the concept of delegating yet it is not my biggest strength in doing so, partly because I can't afford an employee and because I am paranoid that if I don't do it, it will not get done.

I had never had the idea or visualized being a mentor but I guess time and experience helps get the right person on your door. In comes Tatiana Tamargo a recent NYU graduate who is interested in being part of the local art scene and didn't knew how to approach it or even begin to look. Art scenes are usually underground and very small so she volunteered for martes de galeria and I saw her interest and disposition to learning and becoming involved in this crazy world. I believe in her so I decided to let go a little of the control of the gallery and developed a concept within my Gallery where she could work and become her own project. Titled Espacio Dedicado. The first exhibition under Espacio Dedicado curated by Tatiana is Como construir una Isla of the most underrated artists in Puerto Rico Fabian Detres.

Detres graduated from the Escuela de Artes Plasticas in San Juan and I have been following and collecting his work for over a decade. He is one of the few 5 tool artist I really admire and love the work. He can paint, draw, photograph, install, sculpt and pretty much do everything at the highest level. I'm very happy to finally have had the chance and honor to exhibit Fabian's work in this one day pop-up show at Trailer Park Proyects in front of Constructo on August 4th, 2026.

Curator Tatiana Tamargo selected a group of small painting and drawings according to the guidelines of TPP where exhibitions are designed to show pieces of $500 or under so it can be affordable for everyone and not just a few.

First Screening of Impresiones de Resistencia documentary at the Brooklyn Fine Art Fair

I was honored to be invited to be part of panelist for the world premier screening of the documentary Impresiones de Resistencia produced by Hello Print Fiend at the Brooklyn Fine Art Fair in New York City.

It was my first time traveling to be part of a forum or panel in an Art Fair so it was a very cool experience for me. The first screening was Powerhouse Arts with a full house and a great group of panel members that I respect a lot. Javier Moreno, Poli Marichal and Fraixa Albizu. We discussed a lot of topics regarding print history in Puerto rico and had a great time. Shoutout to my friend, artist Nicole Bueso for the hospitality and hanging out with me.

The next day the screening was held at the Rafael Tufino print shop (Taller Boricua) at the El Barrio Artspace which was a Public School and is now part of El Museo del Barrio and an art dedicated building. This was packed and it was a bit overwhelming. I can see how important is documenting and the need of the Puerto Rican people to keep connected to their roots and Island by our culture, heritage and love of our country. The Q&A was around 1 hour long and we engaged in some real great stories and how the diaspora keeps in touch and helping Puerto Rico from abroad.

The moderator was my friend Nitza Tufino daughter of the late Rafael Tufino, a great artist and an exceptional human being. She was very happy to have us there and she had a lot of stories and questions. It was a beautiful moment in time where over 80 people curious about a for of resistance, a culture, a history and people who the USA government has abused, stolen, humiliated, used, experimented, killed, raped, abandoned and has been constantly left out of history and history book. We will never go down without a fight, and we have the evidence in print.

Las Tallas de Tonylo solo exhibition at Publica - Julio 10, 2024

Por primera vez TPP presenta una exposicion de Santos y Tallas de madera. La exhibicion titulada Desde 0 del artista Tonylo presenta sobre 40 tallas y santos en madera disenados y esculpidos por el artista oriundo de Carolina, PR. El 10 de julio de 2024 fue la apertura de la exhibicion en Publica espacio cultural.

Es la primera muestra individual del artista y la probablemente la primera vez que las tallas de santos son exhibidas y presentadas como arte contemporaneo en vez de artesanias locales. El artista tiene un peculiar estilo que lo caracteriza y utliza en la mayoria cedro del pais para crear sus piezas.

Sin duda alguna es una paso para reconocer a nuestros artistas y disenadores de tallas y darles el reconocimiento de artistas que tan merecido esta.

Puerto Rico Screening Premier of documentary Impresiones de Resistencia at the Museo de San Juan

Past Saturday, August 8th, I had the privilege of being invited to be one of the guests panelist for the Puerto Rico premier screening of the documentary Impresiones de Resistencia at the Museo de San Juan alongside Mercedes Trelles, Fernando Santiago and Javier Moreno. The documentary is 30 minutes long look at the history of prints dedicated to resist and fight against the colonial government and how it all started with a government program called the Division de educacion a la comunidad (Divedco) by Jack and Irene Delano in the early 1950s.

The documentary goes to interview contemporary artists who talk about their influence of the prints in their life and careers including a list of master printers like Antonio Martorell, Luis Abraham Ortiz, Haydee Landing and others with moderator Nicole from El Museo de San Juan and presented by Fraixa Albizu

The documentary produced by Hello Print Friend and Miranda Kielland Metcalf was filmed in Puerto Rico in 2025 and is now being introduced at film festivals.

Cartel Serigrafico Conmemorativo de la exposicion EC:2025 de Eduardo Cabrer

Como parte de la exhibicion inagural EC:2025 del proyecto TPP y Constructo, El artista Eduardo Cabrer diseno un cartel serigrafico conmemorativo de la exhibicion. El proyecto esta disenado para que se haga una grafica o cartel conmemorativo de la misma como tributo a la escena de arte original donde se hacian carteles para anunciar las exhibiciones los cuales eran pegados por las calles para informar al publico, ahora que hay redes sociales se ha perdido esa costumbre de conmemorar los eventos y exhibiciones y poder venderlos como souvenier del mismo o como una obra de arte para los asistentes.

El cartel impreso por La Serigrafica se imprimo en 3 colores diferentes y estaran a la venta en Constructo a $40 cada uno o $100 por el set de 3 colores diferentes.

TPP Presenta - Pedro Velez - PV2025: Nocturnas de Isabela

Para nuestra segunda exhibicion del proyecto colaborativo entre TPP y Constructo el artista invitado a exhibir fue Pedro Velez quien ha sido uno de los artistas con quien he trabajado desde que comenze mi carrera como dealer de arte.

La muestra consiste de pinturas recientes trabajadas en el pueblo costero de Isabela basadas en la enorme interconectividad de raíces, invisibles para muchos, de manglares y las uvas playeras. Es una red bajo nuestros pies que sostiene y mantiene ancladas las dunas que sirven de barrera protectora costera.

En cierto sentido, la obra es una reflexión sobre cómo alcanzar una sensación de cordura y tenacidad antes del cambio climático impulsado por el hombre, la gentrificación salvaje de nuestros recursos limitados, y los incesantes ciclos de “doom scrolling” en las redes sociales.

La exhibicion que corrio por 3 meses desde Noviembre del 2025 a febrero del 2026 fue una de cambios constantes ya que el artista decidio en su propuesta cambiar de lugar y reemplazar las piezas todos los meses teniendo la oportunidad de mostrar mas trabajos y que la experiencia fuera una diferente siempre todos los meses, algo no muy comun pero que le dio una nueva todos los meses y nuevas narrativa a la exhibicion.

De la exhibicion se produjo una serigrafia edicion limitada y firmada por el artista la cual impresa por La Serigrafica. La pieza es un detalle alterado de una de las piezas mas emblematicas y reconocidad de Pedro Velez que es Twitter X la cual esta a la venta por $40.

TPP y Constructo Presentan: AT2026 - Cuarto intermedio de Admin Torres

Admin Torres ha sido una de las artistas mas importantes para Trailer Park Proyects. Fue una de las primeras artistas que conoci y de quien presente su trabajo en todas mis exhibiciones. Ademas de ser una de las mejores pintoras de su generacion es una de las mejores dibujantes a su vez. El dominio que tiene de la figura humana es obsesivo y las variaciones y mutaciones que se desarrollan de ese conocimiento hacen de su obra una creativa con un estilo diferente que la ha hecho sobresalir desde que estaba cursaba en la Escuela de Artes Plasticas.

Nos complace anunciar su mas reciente trabajo que sera presentado en Constructo titulado AT2026 - Cuarte Intermedio. Torres presenta su nuevo cuerpo de trabajo incluyendo pintura, dibujos, fotografia, escultura, instalacion, orfebreria y serigrafia con sus caracteristicos temas como el amor, sensualidad, erotismo y la muerte. Una muestra super completa en la que presenta su dominio de los diferentes medios que trabajo para ella.

Esta exhibicion nos demuestra porque Admin es de las artistas mas queridas y respetadas dentro de la escena del arte y porque ha logrado obtener este respeto de todos, la honestidad y sinceridad en su trabajo, porque no pinta para decorar sino para trasmitir un mensaje fuerte y honesto sobre su realidad y la realidad que a muchos nos rodea.

La serigrafia titulada Sin Victoria con algunas variaciones de titulos, es de 2 colores edicion limitada a 25 ejemplares. La grafica fue impresa en el Taller La Serigrafica por Oscar Melendez-Rivera. La misma estara para la venta en $40 en Constructo o TPP por DM.

TPP y Constructo presentan ET2026 de Emanuel Torres

Después de 7 años sin exhibir en Puerto Rico, el artista Emanuel Torres presenta su nueva exhibición titulada ET2026 donde estará presentando sus trabajos recientes que ha estado produciendo desde el 2019.

Torres egresado de la UPR con especialización en Teatro, Performance, Video e instalación, Pintura y Filosofia ha estado trabajando en muestras internacionales con la exhibición individual Fractured Shadows en el 2020 y Surrounded by Water en el 2022 en Latchkey Gallery en New York y su exhibición individual mas reciente Absence of Light en David Klein Gallery en Detroit, Michigan en 2025.

Su ultima exhibición individual en Puerto Rico fue en el Museo de Arte y Diseño de Miramar (MadMi) en el 2019 titulada Rio en la mano pero sentia la necesidad de mostrar en Puerto Rico y el proyecto TPP/Constructo le da la oportunidad de exhibir sin restricciones pues el proyecto es curado por el artista mismo.

El artista quien es conocido por su domino del lenguaje abstracto tomando las riendas del genero que en Puerto Rico ha sido llevado por Luis Hernandez Cruz, Olga Albizu, Carmelo Fontanez y Julio Suarez entre otros algunos quienes son sus mentores y amigos.

La apertura sera el 3 de marzo en Constructo como parte de los eventos de martes de galeria de 6pm a 10pm y estaremos dando talleres para familias durante los 3 meses de duración de la exhibición y el cierre esta pautado para el 5 de mayo.

Proyecto: EC2025 de Eduardo Cabrer en Constructo

Para el primer artista del proyecto se selecciono al artista plastico Eduardo Cabrer quien presentara sus nuevos trabajos de abstracciones geometricas. Cabrer quien es un artista muy prolifero y que explora diferentes medios y estilos en su pintura decidio presentar este cuerpo de trabajo que nos lleva a la epoca de pop art donde nos transporta a la epoca de finales de los 60 y principios de los 70 donde ese movimiento tuvo un gran boom en la escena del arte internacional y de Puerto Rico.

Una epoca donde la Galeria Colibri de Luigi Marosini presento trabajos de esta indole de los maestros Domingo Garcia, Domingo Lopez, Luis Hernandez Cruz, Julio Rosado del Valle, Jose Luis Rochet, Lorenzo Homar, Emilio Sanchez, Omar Rayo, Antonio Frasconi, Marcos Yrizarry, John Balossi, Lilliana Porter, Avilio Cajigas, Carlos Irizarry, Robert Goodnough, Eli Barreto, Agustin Fernandez, Luis Camnitzer, Rogelio Polesello, Edival Ramosa, Manuel Facal y otros mientras artistas como Paul Camacho, Victor Vasarely, Donald Judd, Carl Andre, Robert Morris, Sol LeWitt, Frank Stella presentaban sus trabajos en la escena del arte en NYC y a nivel internacional.

Cabrer presento un cuerpo de mas de 20 obras las cuales hablaban entre si con un diseno de sala magistral que logro la critica favorable, ventas y un grupo concurrido de publico en general durante los 3 meses de la exhibicion.

Entre otras cosas el musico de jazz Eduardo Zayaz amenizo las exhibiciones amenizando con su orquesta durante los Martes de Galeria en Santurce. Tuvimos presente una exotic cocktail bar que preparo tragos high end para los asistentes y tambien contamos con el auspicio de productos de Chocolate Cortes, Jappique, Tortillas Dona Lola, Medalla, Magna, Cerveza H y Ron del Barrilito.

Tambien se crearon Carteles Serigraficos de la exhibicion edicion limitada de 40 impresos por La Serigrafica los cuales estaran a la venta en $40.

La exhibicion fue todo un exito y preparo el tono para lo que son los Martes de Galeria en Santurce todos los primeros martes de mes.

Proyecto Trailer Park Proyects / Constructo

Trailer Park Proyects se une a Constructo para presentar un proyecto colaborativo donde estaremos presentando exhibiciones donde cada artista seleccionado presentara su propuesta por espacio de 3 meses. En ese tiempo estaremos ofreciendo 1 recorrido guiado, talleres para ninos y una conferencia sobre la carrera del artista.

El artista sera responsable de todo en el espacio: curaduria, diseno de sala, montaje, etc... Se crea un espacio totalmente libre para que el artista pueda expresarse sin censura.

Entre las cosas que queremos destacar es tener un espacio donde todos tengan oportunidad de visitar y aprender sobre el artista y su propuesta. Las exhibiciones se llevaran a cabo en Constructo localizado en 1108 Ave. Las Palmas. Las aperturas siempre se llevaran a cabo un Martes de Galeria de 6pm-8pm.

Agradecemos a los auspiciadores del proyecto Chocolate Cortes, Cervecera de Puerto Rico, Tostado, La Puttanesca, Task, Chilo Andreu, Otto Reyes, Maria Perez, Latin American Art Magazine y La Comuna. Con estos auspicios podemos mantener el espacio de exhibicion y otorgarle a los artistas participantes un estipendio por ser pate de nuestra programacion.

Las exhibiciones no llevaran titulo, simplemente se llamaran Proyecto: y las iniciales del nombre del artista y ano en que inagura.

After meeting Angel Borroto's work for the first time at Amor/Fuego Gallery, where I got to meet a a few of the artists I work with today and some that became really good friends with as well including Armig Santos, Kivan Quinones and Saki Sacarello whom I've known from before. I also saw Borroto's work a El Cuadrado Gris and just knew he was more than just an up and comer he was a force to be reckon with for the next 60 years.

He had a show at the Modulo de Mejoramiento Comunitario (MCC) in Rio Piedras and was impressed with his work but most of all his dedication and work ethic. I took it upon me to promote his solo show and went on to sell around 5 pieces of that exhibition.

My job is to promote and sell art and thats what I do, artists either don't know how to sell or simply don't like the part of selling their work. That's when I came in and we started a business relationship that has extended to his inclusion in 3 exhibitions in less than 2 years at Trailer Park Proyetcs. Generation Next at El Schomburg in Chicago, Pintura Contemporanea de PfknR which led up to Suenos Brujos his first solo show with TTP, a pop-up show at Publica that was originally set up to be up for 10 days and it was extended to almost 20 days. Thanks to Omar Obdulio and his gallery 2Bleo who hosted the show and helped with the logistics of the space, very grateful for Omar's help and support throughout the years.

The exhibition design was stunning and the way the exhibition flowed and told a story was really something I am very proud of. With a group effort between Angel, Omar and myself we had to make some changes in site but they worked out perfectly. This is a show set up Im extremely proud of.

Opening was great a lot of big collectors came to see his show including Ignacio Cortes, Otto Reyes, Eduardo Rodriguez and the late John Belk, also the late art critic Manuel Alvarez Lezama both of whom were very dear friends and supporters of my projects. We sold a few pieces but was really happy to sell to 2 young up and coming collectors. It's always great to sell to the young people who you know make a big sacrifice to purchase and collect art.

The exhibition opened on July the 1st, 2025 and closed unofficially on the 10th of July. It was extended till the 20th of July.

When you hang out with creative people, artistas and people that are always uncovering the government on going gaslighting of 125 years and propaganda and you actually see a small part of what's happening behind the political curtain you get ideas and sometimes they are cool enough you want to actually do it.

On this try after the current regime in the USA is clowning and doing stuff that will compromise the USA forever, I came up a simple design that would reflect the current state of the White House and all their corrupt goons in power. So I designed this clown flag to have a visual representation of what the USA is at its current state and how every other country in the world sees them.

Its 50 states led by clown in office ones racist and not good people and the others are just another type of clown that just go along and are not fighting back with enough to power to make the circus stop. Coming from the colony of Puerto Rico and not having representation and not being able to vote yet having an owner makes it worse plus the Stockholm syndrome within my country's politicians is absolute mind-blowing and insane.

This is another one of the small print we are doing for fun and to promote art with the younger generation that likes fun art to talk about and have a political statement without the negative connotations that having a political artwork on your walls can have.

Antonio Martorell found it hilarious and got one for his personal collection. This is me delivering it to him in his Ponce studio. I am honored that such a political artist that has done so much for our arts and culture has one in his collection. It's incredible to me that its my first and only work of art to date.

El Filosofo del Rap print by Francis Fernandez

Because all work and no play made Jack a dull boy, we sometimes like to have fun and do stuff that is not so serious and we can just lean back and laugh out loud.

Although this is a Trailer Park Proyects commissioned print, it is not part of the fine art prints series we have been producing since we started.

As a big Vico-C fan who grew up listening to his music and having every single album he has ever released, I decided to brainstorm with my friend Francis Fernandez to make an artwork to honor him. We came up with this print idea of adding Vico-C marble bust to the group of busts of all great philosophers throughout the history of the world.

Vico-C is know as el filosofo del rap because of his deep conscience lyrics and his longevity as an artist staying relevant and at the top of the game even in his 50s. He still is regarded as one of the best by everyone and he is not just a top rapper he is a legendary icon who help start the rap and reggaeton genre which has become a world wide phenomenon.

Vico whom is currently living in Orlando, FL has had a rough life and he became a teen artist for his ability to rap and create a unique sound that was appealing to the masses and the younger crowd. He became sensation with his underground tapes with songs like El Vikingo, Estaba en Coma, Soy de la Calle and other that help him get a record deal with Prime Records along with DJ Negro as his producer and DJ. When they released La Recta Final back in the mid 80s when I was in grade school it became huge hit making him a superstar. Along with Brewley MC, Ruben DJ, Lisa M, Wilfred y la ganga and others they paved the way for what we know as Reggaeton.

Hailing from Las Acacias in Puerta De Tierra, Luis Armando Lozada grew up in a low income housing project where he befriended and grew up with people in need and doing anything they could to survive which sometimes was not the best paths to follow. As a kid being a kid with peer pressure all around him he succumbed to drugs and became an addict which led to some legal problems and also some criminal activity. He had an accident that led him down a downward spiral of drug abuse and alcoholism from which he recovered and is still sober to this day.

He became a born again evangelical Christian and retired for a short period of time to compose his life and prioritizing in his wife Sonia and his children. In 1999 he returned to the music with an album titled Aquel que habia muerto, which shaked the rap/reggaeton scene in Puerto Rico. As usual his work is always pushing for equality and of social problems that help us understand how society works in favor of a little and against most of us.

I am grateful for Vico and proud to be a fan, although I don't really love sacra music, he is my exception because he has always been preaching about social equality and teaching us about life. Sometimes I have issues because after all he did, now he is judging lifestyles and saying no one else should do what he did or go through that. I feel it's everyone chooses the path they follow and learn from that just like he did. Still his believes never betrayed his raw style and the religious push is minimum in his music just a mention here and there and his delivery and word managing didn't suffer at all.

Vico is an example of perseverance and talent that was helped and guided even when he had hit rock bottom. He is an example that everyone needs mentors to help them in life and guide them become the best version of themselves.

Jumboldt Jibaro by Crayon Papi at 2534 W. Division St. pop-up show for Puerto Rican Parade in Chicago

Part of my job as a director of an art project is to find creative ways to exhibit and promote the younger artists to new and different audiences so they can all have the opportunity to consume art in their daily environment.

The week before the Puerto Rican Parade in Humboldt Park in Chicago, I saw an empty building in the hood and I asked around what was the deal with that building. They told me the had rented it out but the lease began on June 16th. The parade was set to be June 13-15. So I asked for permission to do a pop-up exhibition because the building that is spotted in a premium corner had an all windows display around the whole building front.

I asked around and talked to the owners and explained we were going to have a week long art exhibition with the artwork looking outwards towards the street so people in the parade could enjoy some art while waiting for the parade to start. They thought it was a creative way to expose kids and families that don't consume art to expose them to it and so Jumboldt Jibarito was set to go.

Called Crayon Papi whom I know has a lot of work always ready to go and has a lets do this thing spirit and he said yes from the get go, fortunately at the time of the approval, I was in Puerto Rico and went to his studio, selected the drawings and brought them with me to Chicago. Arrived on June 7th, put the show up in one day and we were ready for the opening on the 9th.

Called my best friend and graphic designer Jesus Chu Diaz and told him I needed a flyer in one day, sent him photos of the artwork and he created the cool looking flyer you see here.

Not everything is about sales, for me most times if not all is about the art. This was an exhibition for the people with no intention of selling as the spaced had to be closed. We had fun doing this with the from today for tomorrow pressure it is always refreshing, like when you start out in the art world a DIY effort.

The exhibition was up for a week and hundreds of families and kids of all ages got to enjoy some artwork without really understanding why it was there?, what it meant? or how did it got there? Was really awesome taking some pics and see the kids enjoying the work as they are created with Crayons in a naive style so kids would really feel a connection.

Rafael Miranda Mattei presenta - Grabaciones para un pais de memoria corta: Tracking Issues en El Schomburg

El pasado 15 de Agosto de 2025 el artista Rafael Miranda Mattei presento su muestra individual titulada Grabaciones para un pais de memoria corta: Tracking Issues en la Galeria El Schomburg en Chicago. Esta es una version agrandada del solo show que el artista presento en la Galeria KM0.2 en San Juan, PR a fines del 2024.

La muestra presenta una coleccion de 9 impresiones digitales de unas caratulas de VHS con diferentes eventos historicos del pop y culturales de Puerto Rico, eventos que en la Isla fueron eventos de suma importancia y marcaron generaciones por el impacto visual y emocional que tuvieron cuando ocurrieron. En adicion cuenta con unos dibujos en gouche de la secuencia de la caida de Karl Wallenda. Otra pieza que llamo mucho la atencion fueron las esculturas de los CD a una escala mayor hablando de los medios descartados y como marcaron la generacion de los 80 cuando tenias que crear mix tape CD para crear tu playlist.

Entre otras de las piezas se encuentra una escultura de color arcoiris creada con cassettes VHS descartados y 2 videos, uno contextual relacionado a los prints exhibidos y un video arte titulado Good Mourning que muestra en loop el video de buenos dias con el que los canales de television comenzaban operaciones de programacion. Este muestra un jibaron con un nino y en le trasfondo un helicoptero volando sobre el cielo con el sol de background. A su vez el himno de Puerto Rico con delay sonando lento y desafinado referenciando al progreso de nuestra sociedad.

Con un texto cuaratorial del Abdiel Segarra en ingles y espanol que ayudo a los diasporicans y a los americanos a entender la exhibicion ycrear una conversacion social, politica y economica de nuestro pais y el abuso y opresion constante del gobierno local y americano contra su gente.

La recepcion fue tremenda y llegaron muchos grupos de estudiantes de diferentes universidades para ver la muestra. La critica de arte Susan Gescheidle escribio una resena de 4 paginas para la revista mas importante de arte de Chicago llamada Chicago Gallery News tambien se publico un articulo en el periodico La Voz del Pueblo de Chicago.

Esta ha sido una de las muestras mas completas que he tenido el gusto de presentar con Trailer Park Proyects y la segunda muestra individual del artista con Trailer Park Proyects en Chicago.

Puerto Rican Women in Arts in Puerto Rico at la Liga de Arte de San Juan

After a few curators, artists, museum directors and art lover in general asked me over and over if the exhibition would be shown un Puerto Rico, Eduardo Cabrer a good friend and artists convinced me of the importance of this specific show to be exhibited in Puerto Rico. I was a bit skeptical at first because the amount of labor and hours I have put into this exhibit was so much that I was burnt out emotionally.

When it started out I was really inviting around 20 artists but the idea grew and the expectations grew exponentially. It turned out to become this monster unprecedented show of 200 artists.

I said yes so we were on our way to Puerto Rico to set up at la Liga de Arte de San Juan which is a very important institution and a venue where not many people get to show or work during their lifetimes. I said yes because Eduardo is a very hard worker and offered his help setting up the show which is not an easy task and the main reason I was avoiding showing this elsewhere.

After talking to La Liga director Marilu Carrasquillo whom by the way is one of the nicest human beings alive, I was comfortable to do this along with their back up. A lot of the artists in the show offered and helped with the set up which was an amazing way to get to know them beyond a piece of art. The level of happiness they had and how excited was really healing for me and I re-understood the necessity of this show being at La Liga.

Opening was set for June 5th, 2025 at 7:00pm. Calling it the biggest success ever as an exhibition coordinator is an understatement, it was the most attended event in the history of la Liga de Arte since it opened back in 1968. Hundreds of hundreds of art lovers and collectors lined up to come in to see the show, week after week for the whole month it was up. At the end of the run, the administration of La Liga de Arte told me it has been the most viewed exhibition ever.

The limited edition print was designed by Jesus Chu Diaz and La Serigrafica was in charge of the silkscreen printing. Editions were printed for both Chicago and the Puerto Rico shows. We also printed a 32 page catalogue designed by Jesus Chu Diaz, the catalogue also includes 5 curatorial essays by Brenda Torres, Mariel Quinones, Alexis Figueroa, Raquel Torres Arzola and writer Anjanette Delgado.

We had great press coverage with newspaper articles in La Voz del Pueblo in Chicago, El Nuevo Dia, El Vocero and Latin American Art Magazine with a TV segment in Teleonce News (June 5th) talking about the show and its importance.

I'm very proud to have done this exhibition and know all were happy with the final show we put out there for the enjoyment of the people and that's another big step for the female artists which have been overseen for so many decades.

Puerto Rican Women in Arts at El Schomburg in Chicago - Opening March 7, 2025

Puerto Rican Women in Arts

You don’t have to be an art expert to know that the women in arts around the world have been left out and neglected for decades because of the patriarchate and unfortunately Puerto Rico is no exception. In my 20 years in the art scene I have been witness to the disproportionate opportunities offered to women in the art scene.

Doing research, reading about Puerto Rican art history, little by little I have been discovering and was introduced to some of the women that have been long forgotten for unknown reasons. Innovative and creative artists that have left a mark in their time but when talking about art are not mentioned as often or frequently as their male counterparts. I understand that this is a small but necessary to render some much deserved honor to the Woman in Arts from our Island and the diaspora.

After months of researching, reading and investigating, I was able to find and contact over 280 artists and invited them to the exhibition. Some I was not able to contact, but with today's technology and social media the database created of over 365 living Puerto rican women in arts which is the most complete assembled to date.

This is not the first time a project like this that has been done, Mari Mater O’Neill’s publication titled Mujeres Artistas Protagonistas de los ochenta about women in arts in Puerto Rico in the 80’s was a good precedent for me to continue that work, the exhibition of the Asociación de mujeres artistas de Puerto Rico at Plaza Las Americas in 1989, the documentary produced by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico titled El legado documental de la Asociación de mujeres artistas de Puerto Rico along with the exhibition Nuestro Autorretrato Mujeres Artistas de Puerto Rico in 1993, El-Status webpage with an amazing database created by Lisa Ladner and most recently Anarquía y Dialéctica en el Deseo 1,2 & 3 at the MAC and the 2015 article Viva la resistencia: Women artists in Puerto Rico and outside both by Raquel Torres Arzola are some of the building blocks for this exhibition.

With little resources and no budget but with eagerness to do justice to the women in arts who deserve recognition , Trailer Park Proyects in collaboration with El Schomburg has organized a once in a lifetime exhibition where we will show over 150 living and working Puerto Rican Women in Arts in the same walls under the same roof and it will happen here in Chicago.

To celebrate these artists, we selected March which is women’s month to present this exhibition which opens Friday March 7th, followed by an artist talk on March 8th the official international day of women, when we will sit down and have a discussion of Puerto Rican Woman in Arts throughout history and to talk about the challenges and stepping stones the industry has put on some of the participating artists.

In order to properly document this amazing unprecedented event we are trying to raise funds to create and publish a catalogue including the names of all participating artists and their information along with the other we could not contact or that couldn’t participate and create a document that will be used as an educational tool for generations to come as the directory for the women artists of Puerto Rico and the diaspora all with the help of Raquel Torres Arzola, Maria Josefina Melero, Anjanette Delgado, Aisha Perez, Melissa Ramos, Brenda Torres, Mariel Quinones and other collaborators and colleagues.

Generation NEXT 2024 @ El Schomburg

For my first exhibition in Chicago, I joined forces with El Schomburg Gallery and director and friend Brenda Figueroa-Torres.

As much Puerto Rican artists that we produce and with a fair share studying at the SAIC, the Puerto Rican diaspora has been taught that art is more about culture so their idea of art is patriotic and culturally driven with most artwork having to have our flag, the sun, our palm trees, El Morro a national landmark, political figures, sports idols, our coqui and other specific regional symbols and characteristics. They have not been exposed to contemporary art or much art from the mainland, most born and raised local artists with roots attached to PR, not really showing our reality but their love for the Island and the nostalgic thoughts of PR and their dream of going and staying one day.

I took on the task of trying to organize an exhibition where we could showcase the new younger generation of contemporary artists that are going through the ranks in the International and Puerto Rico art scene. So I selected 12 of what I believe will be the best artists from this generation and will be the artists representing our Island in the near future and for years to come.

The exhibition will run from December 6, 2024 up to January 19, 2025. We will also have an artist talk with artist Oscar Melendez Rivera (you can watch it in our Instagram Account @trailerparkproj on December 7th at 2:00pm

Being this a new venture in an unknown market, I'm exhibiting 10 works of each artists and keeping my statement of accesible art for everyone to be able to afford a piece of art, all works will be $100 or less. In a great variety of mediums, we have are exhibiting monotypes, drawings, paintings, silkscreens, woodcuts, cyanotypes, mix media collages, etc...

I'm beyond exited for this exhibition as it marks a new era of a series of shows I'm planning on showing bringing to Chicago in collaboration with El Schomburg.

Pintura Contemporanea de PfknR 2024

After a short hiatus in our exhibition program, Trailer Park Proyects organized its most ambitious exhibition up to date, Pintura Contemporanea de PfknR 2024. The metric for selection of the artists invited were

1. Living working artist

2. Exhibited a painting at a show in 2024

3. Turn in their best work at their discretion, I only asked a selected few for a bigger work but what they turned in was up to the artist.

Researching the 1960's Puerto Rico art scene I found that a lot of the exhibitions were titled Pintura Contemporanea (Contemporary Painting). It was so simple and they didn't have any pretentious titles . The works were the most important thing, no one to tell artists what or how to paint, no curators with fancy writing to defend the exhibition, it was all about the painting and not about anything else. I loved that simple idea and created this 30 man group show to honor painting over all else.

The participating artists are: Omar Velazquez, Jose Lerma, Angel Otero, Daniel Lind, Gamalier Rodriguez, Rogelio Baez, Melvin Martinez, Pedro Velez, Aby Ruiz, Bobby Cruz, Jonathan Torres, Jotham Malave, Rafael Miranda, Admin Torres, Nel Figueroa, Natalia Sanchez, Kivan Quinones, Lilliam Nieves, Angel Borroto, Dany Pabon, Javier Moreno, Roberto Silva, Alberto Zayas, Emanuel Torres, Efren Candelaria, Ada del Pilar, Javier Orfon, Carmelo Fontanez, Carmelo Sobrino, Jose Rosa, Eduardo Cabrer, Javier Moreno and Nelson Sambolin.

With limited space due to a change in the gallery showroom which left me with half the original floor plan, I had to make this show with 30 paintings of all sizes, themes, styles and other variables to work and to be shown coherently. Some deserving artists were left out because of the change of wall space it was initially thought out but I will include them in a future show.

Ron del Barrilito sponsored the events opening night as well as my second home Publica with the great Naima Rodriguez. My dearest friend Omar Velazquez was in charge of the exhibition design which ended up being a miracle on walls. Opening night on November 19, 2024. Turned out it was much more than we expected, over 500 people showed up that night and over 1,000 people in total for the whole week.

For our newest silkscreen limited edition print, Javier Moreno one of Puerto Rico's top woodblock printmakers has designed this new exclusive print as satire to the Puerto Rican political race and elections where we get 2 bad candidates from 2 bad parties as our choices, both corrupt, both inept and both destroying our Island since democracy was implemented in this territory of the USA which has basically the same "democratic" alternatives.

Moreno presents his take with this image that carries a lot of history as Edwin Rosskam created a print titled VOTE for the Taller de Cinema y Grafica de Parques y Recreo Publico to promote and educate the people on how to vote back in 1949 for the Island's first elections.

Later Antonio Martorell released a print for Taller Alacran (Barajas Series) in 1968 to make a comment on our political situation (which is still the exact same in 2024) where he designed a cartel with the word vote on the water tank of a vintage toilet with the letter T falling into the bowl as to say that we are voting for shitty candidates or that no matter what how we vote its still going to be the same shit selected to run the country all with red and blue colors which are the colors of the 2 main parties as well as the color of the American and Puerto Rican Flag.

Today we introduce Javier Moreno's newest interpretation of this iconic image hoping to let all generations to cone that we have always been in the same boat and nothing has changed in 80 years.

The print is 18"x22", 3 color silkscreen, signed and numbered to 60.

New TPP Limited Edition Print by Emanuel Torres

We are proud to announce our newest print release from artist Emanuel Torres titled Animazul. Emanuel is known for his abstracts works with sometimes opaque and sometimes bright vivid colors, he has clearly been influenced by Puerto rico's top abstract painters such as Olga Albizu, Luis Hernandez Cruz, Carmelo Fontanez and Julio rosado del Valle amongst others. His work is the continuation of a long standing tradition of great abstract painters.

He presented an amazing solo exhibition at el MadMi museum in Miramar and a dual show with Edra Soto at Latchkey Gallery in NY and simultaneously a solo show at the Clemente Soto Center. In 2018 he was the recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and is currently part of the Las Casitas de los Artistas community project in Bayamon, PR.

As part of our on-going mission to promote prints and keep adding to the rich tradition of poster history in Puerto Rico and Latin America, we produce prints from contemporary artists and sell them at affordable prices. We are committed to producing the print on the Island amid rising costs of production it is imperative we do everything in PuertoRico and have it be a 100% Puerto Rican product. Although prices have almost doubled after hurricane Maria devastating path, we are trying to adjust and keep the project going.

La Cartelera is a super cool event in a flea market sale vibe that allows all the artist that work prints and on paper can just set a table and put their works to sell. No fancy set up, no costly booths, none of that crap, just a good old table with amazing art with a set up that permits lower prices for everyone.

This year on Friday December 8, the event will be hosting 3 conferences FREE of charge for everyone. Starting at 4pm Gilberto Arias will be talking about Revolutionary Carteles de Izquierda and their historical context. Following will be a presentation of the new documentary by Amanda Alonso where she interviews print master Luis Alonso to who the event is dedicated (Luis Alonso will be at the event) and to close the conference cycle the headliner Dra. Teresa Tio the author of the book we call the bible of the industry El Cartel will be giving a lecture on the Cartel and the influence and importance of Luis Alonso in the history of the Cartel. This is a must attend event for anyone who likes carteles.

We will have a table selling our TPP Limited Edition Prints and we will be presenting a new release for the event. We will also be selling the La Cartelera 2 and La Cartelera 1 original posters. The event poster was designed by graphic artists Jesus Diaz, he is my favorite graphic artist and is responsible for all my logos including Trailer Park Proyects, Mi Primera Tacita de Cafe, Second Hand Gallery, La Cartelera 1 Poster in collaboration with Garvin Sierra, etc... The posters will be printed in limited quantities and we will have different color variations of the same design. You can also see the poster in the streets as part of the traditional wheat paste on the walls Santurce, San Juan and Rio Piedras.
