sooo now i have seen the wizard of oz as a play at the orpheum, the muny, at high school, in addition to memorizing the movie, having the soundtrack on my ipod, seeing wicked in chi town, dressing up as dorothy on non-halloween days when i was lil, and even watched this creepy movie version:

please look at this terrifying scene:

soo here's some nerd quotes from and about the movie that i found & love:
-Imagination can take you anywhere - even over the rainbow
-Sometimes you have to leave home to find it
-Follow the Yellow Brick Road, but always be ready for a detour
-Faith, hope and love can work wonders, but ruby slippers can't hurt either
-When friends stick together, they can work miracles
-Having the courage to ask for what you want is half the battle
-"Hearts will never be made practical until they are made unbreakable."
-The grass is always greener on the other side of the rainbow
-"But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
-All you need is right there inside of you"
-Keep home in your heart and you can always return to it
-When you go out into the world, remember: stand up for yourself, but always be kind to the little guys
-"A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others."
-And, of course, "There's no place like home!"

it's weird how much i loved this movie when i was so little and still do now. i think it's because i can understand the meanings and themes more and more it changes evvvvvery time i watch it.

right now, being part of two separate worlds (my home/ family/ girls back in kdub and then college/minnesota life) it means something diff. after watchin' the play tonight i thought about how much home means to me and after being a tourist in my hometown over sbreak i remembered just how special it is.

but at the same time, i love my oz, my greener pasture, my place over the rainbow. i'm part of my new world, and couldn't ever imagine a life without anyone here. just like dorothy, i can never and will never forget my home, but i had to go somewhere over the rainbow so i can love my kansas (oooor missouri, hey it's close enough)and find my own scarecrow, lion, and tinman to love.

now i can only hope my "somewhere over the rainbow" really is where the dreams that i dared to dream really do come true. :)
