If there’s one song out there that bridges the gap between a ridiculous array of genres, it’s the dubstep track Love Never Dies by Caspa & Mr. Hudson.

The opening sounds like a late 80′s love song with Mr. Hudson bringing the vocals. At 30 seconds in it sounds like a 90′s heavy trance banger, and when it drops at 1:00 you feel like you’re right in the middle of a new Jay-Z feat. Akon hip hop track. It’s crazy, and we love it nonetheless.

The original song was an instrumental called Back For The First Time. The track tore it up pretty hard, and now they decided to throw some vocals over the top. Mr. Hudson’s celebrating his new album release “Straight No Chaser” and still had time to get in the studio with Caspa to make this awesome track. Check it out

Moonbeam – Around The World

One day one of our music buddies, Erica, came to us and asked us if we had heard of 2 brothers from the Russian Federation called Moonbeam. We hadn’t. She pointed in the direction of some of their music and low and behold, she was onto something pretty smokin’ good. We’ve slowly been moving in a different direction from trance, but only because we hear so much overplayed stuff that quite frankly, we’re tired of. This stuff caught our ear though, and that’s really the kind of stuff we like to cover.

Shortly after, the opportunity came up to interview the 2 brothers behind Moonbeam. We felt, however, that they were too new to us to give them a proper interview, so we handed the mantle to Erica, and we think she came through in fine fashion.

Moonbeam released their new album “Around The World” on Black Hole Recordings in March and it’s really gaining a lot of momentum. This is where we first heard these brothers, but their library of productions is quite extensive and goes back a few years. (Moonbeam Myspace)

Moonbeam Interview

TranceDaily: Hi, this is Erica, Wanted to say big thanks for doing the interview with us, its nice to be able to get to know Moonbeam outside of their productions and we’re excited to get to know what our brothers are all about!

As brothers, is it sometimes difficult to work with one another or do all
the decisions you make work out smoothly?

Moonbeam: We have been working together hand in hand for a long time. Small problems sometimes pop up of course, but they’re always very insignificant and nothing serious. As brothers we are very close both in studio and also out of it; always helping each other.

TD: How has growing up in Russia affected the style of music that you guys choose to produce?

MB: Unfortunately at that time in Russia there was very little material about electronic music. In the beginning, we didn’t think of any styles and limits! We listened to almost everything: Moby, Prodigy, Massive Attack, Bjork, Radiohead.
In the late 90′s, our first tracks were more like an experiment, and the first bootleg remix was made only for our friends for the project Tito & Tarantula – After Dark! However, after that we began to create more dance tracks which were tested in clubs. At the same time we were fans of Bedrock, Border Community, Saw Recordings, Kompakt so it wasn’t until 2000 did we find a unique combination of minimal and melodic techno. It’s notable that we were influenced by Royksopp and we consider them perfect. As for our future, we are always ready to develop and don’t want to stop experimenting in trying to create something unusual and new.

TD: Who of the two would you say is more of the ladies man, Pavel or Vitalik?

Moonbeam: [laughs] Both! But Vitaly is really more of a family man. Pavel is young and full of “hot blood” [laughs]

TD: What are the products of choice when its time to get down to making music? Any favorite piece of hardware?

MB: We always like to integrate some analog equipment with new computer technologies. Computer technologies are changing fast so we try all new products and software. In the studio we like Alesis A6 Andromeda best, as in our opinion it’s the only analog synthesizer that has a really fat sound. Also we use Juno-G, Korg Electribe MX, из софта Absynth, Reaktor, and Battery Arturia Analog Factory.

TD: Moonbeam has a very consistent sound, do you always try to stick with that sound when producing a track?

MB: We always try and avoid any stylistic frames, We like to experiment and make something that crosses the lines between genres.

TD: Many of your tracks are very powerful and emotional ex. ‘Elephant Ride’
What goes through your mind, or inspires you guys to make such tracks?

MB: We find inspiration in and around the world. Traveling also gives many fresh emotions: different countries and different cultures which certainly helps when writing new music. When we return from trips, we always like to go to the studio immediately. A lot of tracks were thought up during our international tours in different countries. “Elephant – Ride” was written in India. (youTube – Elephant Ride)

TD: If you had the chance to have a world tour, what other dj/producers would you want it to be with?

MB: We had a tour with Tiesto around Ukraine this summer and loved it! In the future we would love to get the chance to tour with Bjork. We are hugely inspired by her music and voice.

TD: In what major countries/ cities would you love to have the chance to tour in?

MB: Certainly Japanese people left the brightest impressions on us! Their emotions during a performance were simply shocking! It is devoted, shocking and a bit crazy! Also, we’d like to create a big tour in America (the USA, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina). Hopfully we will play there in the near future.

TD: When Moonbeam has time off, what are some favorite hobbies to do on your down time?

MB: We go to the gym 3-4 days in week. We don’t drink alcohol, and don’t smoke but enjoy sports instead.

TD: It’s very obvious that 2010 was a successful year for Moonbeam, are there any plans to push the upcoming year beyond what has been already done?

MB: A lot of new releases on Traum, HighContrast, Proton and others will be created. We are also preparing our own mix compilation Black Hole as well. Expect some new remixes too as well as lots of videos.

TD: One last question for you guys. What kind of advice do you guys have for
aspiring producers?

MB: You should work and believe sincerely in that you do.

TD: Thanks again for the interview and the best of luck for all of your music
and projects in the future.

Our favorites are Aria, Tokyo Rain, 5 Months, Arcadia, Lucid Dream (great DnB track), and Lonely Heart. Yeah yeah, that’s over half the album, but at least you can’t call us picky. Check it out and keep an eye out for this guy. He’s making some tsunami’s with that easily recognizable womping bass. Womp womp wompwomp.

Not, “The Tron movie has a Daft Punk soundtrack”. That’s really how far Daft Punk have ridden the elevator up to electronic music fame.

Some of you surely remember watching the original Tron way back in the day. I use to think this was one badass movie when I was a little kid:

To make the new Tron movie even more badass, Daft Punk have taken it upon themselves to do the soundtrack. These tracks are booming with awesomeness, and if anything, will be this movies saving grace. We found them abit like a mix of Hanz Zimmer, The Dark Knight soundtrack, and Thomas Newmans Green Mile soundtrack. Great stuff.
In this newly released track, he’s remixed Major Lazer’s Jump Up, and done so in fine fashion. He takes the original, a much funkier version in which the vocals seem to naturally fit, and throws in his typical Yorke sounds. Trance? No… EDM? Nah… Good music? Yes

Some of you may remember awhile back me tweeting about a new track that I wished I could let everyone listen to. Well it’s finally OK for me to fill you guys in and let you get the track – for FREE.

Awhile ago Yenn sent us a new track he was working on with Refracture called Sunset. I could definitely see this as an Anjunadeep release with it’s chilled, soft sound.

The e-Lake festival in Luxembourg picked up this track as their Official Anthem which is very cool. He told me he’d probably release it for free, which I thought was a joke. As it turns out, Yenn doesn’t joke around, and now you can get this great track for $0.00. Radio Edit and Extended available.

Every day from now until release on July 19th, a new track will be added to the player giving you previews at an enticing speed. Keep checking back daily for the next track preview.

In the world of Above & Beyond there’s only ever one way — up. In the last few years alone, the UK based production/DJ trio have debuted their full live show in front of 8,000 fans in Beirut, played to 1 million people on a beach in Rio de Janiero and even been chosen to soundtrack the unveiling of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo. Not once, however, have they or their Anjunabeats label rested on their laurels.

Across a span of over 170 releases, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint has grown from humble beginnings to become a global standard-bearer for trance and melodic electronic music. Now, more than ever, it is synonymous with a quality control that is all too lacking in today’s quick-fix digital age.

The two-disc Anjunabeats Volume 8 compilation is exactly how trance in 2010 should be. A journey showcasing the full spectrum of Above & Beyond’s sound, the compilation takes in electro-influenced grooves, deeper trance and hypnotic progressive textures alongside their trademark euphoric anthems.

Above & Beyond themselves offer a taste of their long awaited second artist album through the instant, emotional highlight ‘A Thing Called Love’, while their debut collaboration with respected German duo Kyau & Albert (‘Anphonic’) provides a driving, upbeat club monster that will be sending message boards, clubs and stadia crazy for months to come.

With over 20 separate artists featured, Anjunabeats Volume 8 is also a testament to the vital transatlantic family that the label now represents. Ascendant talents like Arty, Aruna and 7 Skies inspire fresh excitement. Andrew Bayer’s trio of deep, genre-blurring productions mark him out as one of the most exciting names to come through the ranks since Mat Zo, who himself features through his remix of ‘Live Forever’ by Lange feat. Emma Hewitt.

There’s welcome room, of course, for long-standing Anjuna favourites like Oliver Smith, Nitrous Oxide and Super8 & Tab who make a double appearance ahead of their debut artist album and unleash their most accomplished creations yet. In the beautifully crafted ‘Piece Of Me’, Daniel Kandi has another timeless classic in the making and Dutchman Bart Claessen offers the magically climbing ’90 Nights Of Summer’. Volume 8 also heralds the first Anjuna release by Duderstadt with ‘Stranded in NYC’ plus new Anjuna signings Parker & Hanson, Thomas Datt and Who.Is, a collaborative project from Bart Claessen and Raz Nitzan.

Put simply, the mix is a snapshot of the future. The future of Above & Beyond, the future of the Anjunabeats family and the future of trance.
