Due to her tireless work as a spiritual counselor, life coach, interfaith work, and particular interest in forgiveness, The Center for Faith and Community Health Transformation tapped her to work with the Cook County Department of Public Health task force working on emergency planning.

Rev. Jacki Belile gave a lot of information during her Emergency Preparedness presentation at Mess Hall on Tuesday, 2/21/12. Stocking your emergency kit with recommended supplies is important, but even more important are the resources that you develop within your community.

Knowing your neighbors and where to reach them, making sure that they know where to reach you, making plans for household pets are essential and your best resources if disaster were to strike.

Do you have a gnawing suspicion that our governmental response to an emergency might fall short of the need? Responding to an emergency is a tall order. Rather than hoping that all of the government agencies get it right, let’s think in advance about emergency preparedness and what it takes individually and collectively.

Jackie Belile has worked with local agencies to discuss emergency preparedness and to discern what local resources can be mobilized in the unlikely event of extreme weather, or geological, terrorist attack, pandemic etc.

Greetings and Happy New Year!

We’ve MOVED! On January 2, 2012 we transitioned (no pun intended) the Transition Rogers Park home page to a new host and appearance. This is the Facebook and social media age, and we want to make the best use of it in getting out the Transition message. So we are making changes to the way we interact with you on the web. In a world of uncertainty and ambiguity, building relationships and community will become ever more important. We want to facilitate that process through the use of widely accepted, commonly used applications.

This is an opportunity for us to explore new ways to bring change to our community and share our successes in doing so. We invite you to continue with us on this journey.
