The purpose of a Travel Kit is twin: (1) allow the traveller to take care of minor health problems as they occur and (2) treatment of pre-existing medical problem.
Nowadays a number of health kits is easily obtainable from market and may even be purchased by ordering from the internet; though, similar kits can be made at home by accumulating all necessary aids together.
The exact content of the first-aid kit should be based on end station and period of travel. Basic items that should be included are listed below:
1)	If you are having some particular problem then keep personal prescription medications and also the prescribed medicines along with you.
2)	Keep the medicines for malaria, diarrhea and histamine.
3)	Also keep antibiotic for self-treatment of moderate to severe diarrhea.
4)	Medicine for congestion, cough, headache, acidity.
5)	Anti-motion sickness medicines are also necessary.
6)	Paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen, or other medication for pain or fever.
7)	Throat lozenges Some cream or ointment for fungal and bacterial infections.
9)	Bandages (suitable for minor cuts for scrapes) and band-aids.
10)	First-aid antibiotic ointment (e.g. Neosporin)
11)	Sunscreen lotion.
12)	Insect repellant.
13)	Hand-sanitizing lotion (e.g. Purell).
14) Dettol or savlon.
15)	Thermometer for measuring fever.
16)	Oral dehydration solution sachets.
17)	First-aid items like adhesive bandages, gauze, antiseptic, tweezers and scissors.
18)	Some gel or lotion for blisters like Zytee.
19)	Lubricating eye drops.
20)	Address and phone numbers of near by hospitals or clinics.
First aid supplies may be available at your traveling destination, they may be costly and difficult to find. Cost and handiness are two fine reasons for taking a medical kit with you.

Always buy mini sizes or trial sizes items mentioned above and place them in sealable, clear plastic bags.
When you go for sightseeing, take a small-sized bag filled with bandages, aspirin, sunscreen, and first-aid ointment. Always remember to keep this first-aid kit in your bags, so that it is easily available during the move of your journey.

New to off-road driving? Anxious to check out the four-wheel drive?
Here are just a few tips to keep you safe on the off-beaten path.

First, you need to do some preparing. Knowing how your vehicle works and what it is limited to is very important. You need to know what your vehicle is capable of, and stay within that range. Understanding your 4X4 system is equally important. Also, make sure that you are aware of your approach, ramp, and departure angles. This will help ensure no damage is created to your vehicle.

Become familiar with the feel of driving your 4X4. Start out with driving on dry, flat land to ensure the comfort of your vehicle. Knowing how your vehicle will handle during sharp turns, quick braking, etc. is also good practice.

Always be prepared for any kind of emergency. You never know when you might break down, and you should have supplies on hand. Flashlight, blanket, flashers, coat, spare tire and jack, etc are some items that should be carried in case of an emergency. Letting someone know where you are going and when you plan on returning from your off-road trip is also good practice in case you do have trouble. Not all areas receive cell phone service.

It is also a good practice to check out your vehicle before leaving. Tires filled completely, oil and other fluids at the correct level, including gasoline levels. Checking for tears or rips in hoses is also a good idea. This will help ensure a safe and fun trip and a prompt return home.

Make sure you are familiar with the path you are on. Make sure that the trail you are taking allows you the time to return home by the designated hour.

While on your off-road trip, make it a habit not to litter. It is just as illegal to throw out trash in the woods as it is in town or on a highway. Littering includes cigarette butts or food wrappers. Even candy wrappers are considered littering.

Know your limitations, and know the limitations of your vehicle as well. By taking some of these tips in consideration will help ensure a fun and safe experience in your 4X4 Off-Road adventure.

Everyday, people are on the move for business. Rather it is state, nation, or world wide, travel can take a toll on anyone. Here are some tips to make business travel a bit less stressful, and a bit more bearable.
First, I would, (or your assistant), book your seats as far in advance as possible, and be sure to keep a copy of the confirmation with you for the day of travel. Computers have been known to fail. In case of a downed computer system, you can verify that you did purchase a seat for your departure day.
If you are returning to a city previously traveled to, request a certain seat. If you remember an area you would have liked to have been seated at, request that seat for the upcoming trip.
Even if you are not planning on using it, always carry your laptop with you, instead of sending it with your luggage. Baggage handlers can scratch, tear, dent, and damage laptops even in the most padded of cases.
Planning for the worst is a good plan. Suitcases and bags do have a tendency of getting misplaced. For this reason, it is good practice to buy a lightweight bag to store a change of clothes, cell phone and laptop chargers, paper, pen, etc. For more convenience, select a backpack style with straps for easy carry.
Pack a couple of extra USB memory sticks, for those times you can’t connect your laptop. This will save the presentation.
Always carry extra cash on you, as computers don’t always work, credit card machines also have their own down times. This will keep you from an embarrassing situation.
Try not to work while traveling. Use the time to relax and to prepare yourself for the work needed to be done once you have arrived.
Always carry a bottle of water with you, even in the business class, they may not provide you with enough. This will keep you from becoming slightly dehydrated.
If you are staying in the same motel for two consecutive nights, take this opportunity to do some laundry, which will allow you to pack (and carry) less.
The last tip in the top ten is a safety one. Never be the first, or last, person to leave a night gathering. If possible, always exit with another person.
While traveling for business may always be tiresome, these 10 tips should help make your business travel a bit smoother.

Traveling to a new and exotic city can be very exciting. Arriving in a city that is brand new and exciting to you is always a sure bet for adventure. When the big day finally arrives, here are some pointers to ensure a relaxing and fun trip.
The bad side to arriving to a strange environment is that simply everything IS new. You are not familiar with your surroundings; receiving and understanding directions to the motel, restaurant, etc. can be very difficult; and you will likely have a complete feeling of loss and panic.
One important step to help cut the feeling of helplessness is to gather information regarding landing times from your airport and select a departure flight that coordinates with a daytime arrival time. Usually an early check in can be arranged with your hotel. This way you are not caught at the airport/bus station at four a.m., praying for daylight.
Another topic to cover is cash. Being in a new city, you will not want to wander all over to find an ATM. Always have cash on hand, and preferable smaller bills. Some hotels and taxi cab drivers will not break a $100 bill. Also, trade in some ones for quarters, for water bottles and such. This will ensure that whatever situation you find yourself in, you will be monetarily prepared.
Researching how much time and money it will take to get to your motel is important also. You do not want to reach the end of the taxi ride, only to find you are short the fare money. In addition, knowing ahead of time the duration of the trip will come in handy also, especially if on a time itinerary.
Another survival guide on your journey is to either bring a map with you, or purchase a detailed, specific map of your city. Wandering to find your way is one way of becoming familiar with the layout of the city, and asking directions from a local always is not very reliable either. If you have printed directions for mapquest.com or a store bought map, this will ensure less time trying to find your way and will free up more time for sightseeing.
By keeping these few tips in mind the next time you set off for an adventure, you can be sure of saving time, money, and your peace of mind.

As we, all know if one wants to travel any distance at all, flying is the fastest, safest and most convenient mode of transportation. It has these days also become the more economical way of transportation. Now days very low airfares from a wide range is available for airline ticket discounts, as more and more people are deciding to take this mode of transportation.

Lets us now look at the tips for flying for each of the most common fears:
•	Turbulence may perhaps feel uncomfortable, but it is normal.
It is seen that general people often misinterpret turbulence. When they encounter turbulence, nervous passengers feel the plane is “falling”. However, this could be avoided with the simple understanding of the way the earth’s gravity works.
•	The plane is strong, reliable, and well maintained.
Needless to mention each and every aircraft and their gear are built from FAA accepted designs and also manufactured under FAA approved systems. The FAA themselves tests the flights before granting the certification of approval. Therefore, that is where the simple tip for flying can be applied. Trust the FAA’s.
•	Trust the trained and experienced crew.
The crew is well trained and experienced to handle any uncontrollable situation as far as possible. This is help one to trust in the people who work for your safe transportation.
These are few of the technical tips for flying which one should keep in mind. Other tips for flying include more of the behavioral aspect, which are Positive Thinking, avoiding overactive imagination, dealing with nervous feelings, understanding the fact that even if you feel anxious, it cannot hurt you or cause you to lose control.
Few more tips for flying to make the flying experience more enjoyable are as stated. Avoid drinking any beverages that possibly will dehydrate your body. The list includes coffee, tea, caffeinated drinks, and alcoholic beverages. You can enjoy these drinks once when you are on ground.

For your comfort if you do not like the seat, ask to sit elsewhere. Especially if you are stuck in the middle seat of a plane. To enjoy you ask for an aisle or window seat.

The best thing in my suggestion would be to bring along a deck of cards to play solitaire.

Jet lag, also known as desynchronizes, it is a momentary disorder that causes exhaustion, insomnia, and other symptoms because of air travel across time zones.
Other than fatigue and insomnia, a jet lag victim may experience dehydration, headache, irritability, nausea, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, puzzlement, sweating, synchronization problems, and even memory loss. Some persons report additional symptoms, such as increased vulnerability to illness and heartbeat irregularities.
The cause of jet lag is the incapability of the body of a traveler to instantly adjust to the time in a diverse zone. As the body struggles to deal with the new schedule, temporary fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and an impaired ability to concentrate may set in. The distorted bathroom schedule may cause constipation or diarrhea, and the brain may turn out to be confused and disoriented as it attempts to juggle schedules.
Jetlag is in fact is caused by disruption of your ‘body clock’, a very small cluster of brain cells that looks after the timing of biological functions, including when you eat and sleep. The symptoms of jetlag often continue for days as the internal body clock gradually adjusts to the new time zone.

By following a watchfully timed program of light and dark at the times one’s body clock is most receptive, one can quickly reset it to the new time zone.
The following are the ways to avoid jet lag:
•	Pre-flight: It is one of the most considerable aspects of fighting jet lag.
•	East or west: So evidence states flying westwards causes less jet lag than flying eastwards.
•	Night or day flight: Depends on personal preference based on experience.
•	Drinking fluids: Drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids helps.
•	Sleeping aids: Blindfolds, blow-up pillows, neck rests, earplugs, and can help one get quality sleep while flying.
•	Exercise: Get as much exercise as possible. This helps to reduce the likelihood of blood clots and associated trauma.
•	Showers: A shower freshens one up and also gets the muscles and circulation going again and makes one feel much better for the rest of the flight.

Innovative ways of traveling seem to be more popular than before. People are beginning to want to experience new things and, in order to do that, they need to think out of the box. One unique form of transportation is to travel by sail boat.

Sail boating is becoming more and more popular as the years go by. People have even traveled around the world in sophisticated sail boats! However, when using this method of travel, a person will need to go through quite a bit of preparation. A “newbie” will need to know how to steer a sail boat, how wind changes and what the sailing terms are.

I don’t have enough space to explain each of the requirement examples listed above but I can name off some of the sailing terms. The more common terms are bow (the forward part of the boat), stern (after end of a boat), port (the left side of the boat) and starboard (the right side of the boat). These are the most basic words used and beginners should most definitely know them! Now that you know the general terms for the front, back, left and right sides of the boat, I’ll name off a few of the parts. For one, the mast is the vertical spar in which the sails and rigging are attached. The top of the mast is called the masthead. The term “rigging” was mentioned before and consists of ropes and wire stays of a boat.

To know the above mentioned terms is very important. When sailing, these words will be used quite often and a new traveler should know how to act accordingly. If an action were delayed, a wind current could pass by and the sail boat could be stuck until another blast of wind comes. Oops!

©2008 Copyright by Travel-Eat-Sleep

Oops!
