Island of Yato from the Rock of Rumagangrang Beach, Cabalagnan

Yato Island is a small island located off the coast of Brgy. Cabalagnan, Guimaras Province. The island offers natural and clean beaches, huge mangroves, and awesome rock formations.

Small Motor Boat going to the Island of Yato

The island is reachable via small motor boat or known as motor bangka for approximately 10-15 minutes from Cabalagnan Wharf or Rumagangrang Beach. The fee depends on the negotiation with the boatmen. In our case, we decided to go to the Island of Yato at around 3:00 pm for 250 pesos and another 200 pesos back to the mainland at early morning of the next day.

The island is ideal for hiking, camping, swimming, bird watching, photo shooting and watching the beautiful sunset.

There are quite a few people who live on this island and most of them are relative to each other. Fishing is their main source of income.

The island has a simple cottage, no electricity and unstable signals for mobile phones but still fun into it because every activity there was a thrill.

Cabalagnan is a small barangay located in the southern tip of Guimaras Island in Philippines. It is part of the Municpality of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. The place is gifted with beautiful beaches, green mountains and awesome nature.

Getulio is a barangay of the Municipality of Buenavista located in the northern part of Guimaras Island, Philippines. It is approximately 14 kilometers away from the Buenavista wharf (Bay-bay pantalan). You can reach the place by riding a public utility jeepney Getulio via Navalas for 25.00 pesos only or rent a motorcycle/tricycle for a maximum fare of 150.00 pesos.

Getulio was the place before for our third cement plant industry in the Philippines, the Portland Cement Co. (later on was the Panay Cement). Farming and fishing is the primary source of income of the people out there.
