GPS for directions

I was always fascinated and wondered how the global positioning satellite would work for cars to find their way out whenever looking for directions. When I drove in the US (sometime in the spring of 2005), I had a GPS for the car I hired and managed to click a photograph for me to see later. Sharing it with all the people who would be thinking how the GPS looks and works- Enjoy!

Monster Truck

Everyone hopes to see a white Christmas. Though I have never been so fortunate, I've seen snow dotting the Christmas trees and believe me, this too is an amazing sight. Sharing of the pictures which shows this.

White Peacock – Symbol of Peace

The sight of the white peacock during my visit to the Cape May zoo in New Jersey had me in awe. The magnificence of the peacock is accentuated by the white colour, which is considered to be a symbol of peace. Enjoy the photograph, while I wish that the world becomes as peaceful as the peacock in the photograph.

Who says ‘Children Cannot Drive?’

What else can I say- the photograph below shows my nephew driving a car? And the general notion is that you need to be a major in order to drive a car- well, children have a way to show that this is not true- perhaps this is what is called the jet age!!

Sunset over Statue of Liberty

Visit to Empire State Building, New York

The empire state building is the tallest building in the New York city (after the fall of the twin towers of the world trade center). In one of the trips during winters, I remember very distinctly the wind tunnels created by the rows and columns of tall building in the New York city, which deterred me from taking a trip up the empire state building. I imagined that I was freezing at ground zero, and would freeze if I got up more than 80 storeys of the building.

I visited New York again in the spring of 2005, and that is when I decided to get upto the top of the empire state building. Sharing some pictures taken from atop (notice the sheer height of the building by looking at some pictures showing cars on the street).

Visit to Niagara Falls, USA

For an average traveler traveling to the USA, a visit to the Niagara falls is a given, much like the people from USA traveling to India go to visit the Tag Mahan in Agra. During one of my visits to the USA, I made a journey to the Niagara Falls. Sharing some photographs taken during the visit for the other to marvel the glory of the falls!

The ferry ride, called the 'Maid of the Mist' is one of the highlights of the visit to the Niagara

Dancing Peacock

A peacock is supposed to be dancing when it is in a happy state. I’m not sure if the peacock I clicked was happy, however I know for sure that I was elated at seeing the sight of a dancing peacock. This photograph is again from my visit to the Cape May zoo in New Jersey.

Visit to Bridgewater Temple, New Jersey

The Bridgewater temple in New Jersey is one of the bigger Hindu temples that I’ve visited in the United States. Photography is not allowed inside the temple, so I’ve captured photographs from outside, which I’m sharing.

Visit to the Erstwhile World Trade Center

I visited the place where the famous 9/11 attacks took place, the place called World Trade Center. It's also know as Ground Zero after the attacks. New towers called the freedom towers are under construction at that place now. Sharing a few pictures taken at that place.

Snow ala stalactites

One would have seen water solidifying into various forms when ice is formed. During one of my travels, I saw a photograph, which reminded me of stalactites that we had studied in the geography lessons. Sharing it the readers of my blog.

Caught in a Blizzard- New Jersey, USA

My first weekend in the US (in January 2005) saw my first experience with snow and a blizzard at that. The initial reaction was one of fun, which slowly turned as gloomily as the photographs I clicked. These have been taken in the town of Iselin in New Jersey. A must watch for people dying to see snow and waiting to play in it. My word of caution would be to ensure one plays in the snow only if it’s light. Enjoy the snow and the photographs!

Driving in the mountains- hazards

Driving in the mountains is not a cup of tea everyone can drink. This requires special skills and a lot of heart, especially if one is faced with roads (or the lack of it) as depicted in the photograph below.
The one thing which I enjoyed though, was driving in this stretch, as it was challenging as well as exciting at the same time

Shogi - Visit to the Stream

Green Valley Kufri

Kufri provides an average traveller the natural greenery that one comes to expect in the mountains. The green valley near Kufri provided the same scenic beauty I was expecting. The photographs clearly show greenery in every sense of the word.

Kerala - God's Own Country

Kerala is dubbed as 'God's Own Country'. Having spent a week there myself, I agree that if there was a sight one would love to behold, it would be that of Kerala. I'll venture out to say that of all my travels (I've had quite a few till date), my trip to Kerala has undoubtedly been the best. First of all, I travelled to Kerala on my honeymoon and secondly, the sights at all the places were amazing to say the least.
Places covered by me included Cochin, Thekeddy, Munnar, Kumarkom and Kovalam. Sharing some of the snaps taken by me during the visit.
