<p><a href="https://mainehuts.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Maine Huts &amp; Trails (opens in a new tab)">Maine Huts &amp; Trails</a> was the brainchild of Larry Warren in the 1970&#8217;s. His vision was for a series of backcountry huts allowing for multi-day cross-country ski trips from Moosehead Lake to the Mahoosuc Mountain Range. What that became is four off-the-grid huts along an 80 mile trail system.</p>



<p>While off-the-grid the huts do have nice amenities including solar power feeding batteries, hydro power in one hut, wood heat, composting toilets and more.  Kitchen facilities are available during self-service seasons (Fall &#8211; November &amp; December, and Winter) while  during full-service seasons (Summer and Fall &#8211; September &amp; October) breakfast, lunch, trail bag lunch, dinner and beer and wine to purchase are available.</p>



<p>Activities available along the hut/trail system include:</p>



<ul><li>Mountain biking (fatbiking in winter)</li><li>Bird watching</li><li>Fly fishing</li><li>Hiking</li><li>Paddling</li><li>Swimming</li><li>Cross country skiing</li><li>Snowshoeing</li></ul>

<p>Maine is celebrating its bicentennial in 2020. <p><strong>The New Hampshire Farm, Forest and Garden Expo</strong><br>The <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="New Hampshire Farm, Forest and Garden Expo (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.nhfarmandforestexpo.org/" target="_blank">New Hampshire Farm, Forest and Garden Expo</a> will be held February 14 (9 AM to 7 PM) and 15 (9 Am to 4 PM), 2020 at the <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown (opens in a new tab)" href="http://www.hotelscombined.com/Hotel/DoubleTree_by_Hilton_Manchester_Downtown.htm?a_aid=92754&amp;brandId=245226" target="_blank">DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown</a> in Manchester, NH. Admission is $7 and kids under 13 are free.</p>

Fees are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 10 and free for children 4 and under.</p>
