Four Red Sox Teammates

Located outside of Gate B at he intersection of Ipswich and Van Ness streets is a statue of four Red Sox teammates - Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, Bobby Doerr and Dom DiMaggio. The four are depicted as they were in 1946 when they helped the Sox to the World Series. To the left of this statue is the famous statue of Ted Williams.

From the statue’s plaque:

Red Sox teammates for seven seasons, but best friends for a lifetime. … They left an unmatched legacy in Red Sox history. … To Red Sox fans the world over, they are simply known as Bobby, Ted, Dom and Johnny.

Boston Marathon Memorial

The memorial that has been created at intersection of Boylston and Berkeley streets near the finish of the 2013 Boston Marathon. Clearly visible are the crosses dedicated to the three people who lost their lives in the bombing a week ago today.

Boylston Street needed no moment of silence a week after the Marathon bombing. All was eerily quiet as the street is still closed. This picture was taken at lunch time today when the street would normally have been full of people and cars…
