Amongst these harsh, daunting peaks you will find volcanic lakes, ancient forests, greenstone rivers, blue-ice glaciers and wide alluvial valleys that make up an area of amazing natural beauty, containing four national parks and a range of top quality ski areas.

Ski
The Southern Alps (Ngā Pukemāeroero in Maori) include 18 ski areas, all within a few hours drive from Christchurch City. The New Zealand season runs from approximately mid June and finishes in the spring in October. Average base depth on the Southern Alps ski fields is around 104cm.

Hike
Kiwis call it "tramping" - it's about putting a pack on your back and enjoying the freedom to explore New Zealand's backcountry. Whether you call it bushwalking, hiking or trekking, it's a great way to see more of New Zealand - and Canterbury is the best place to start. Skiing, Hiking, Biking.

Bike
Canterbury itself is an amazing region for cyclists, with hundreds of kilometres of trails waiting to be explored. In the national parks, however, generally mountain biking is limited to the formed roads. However, there are a series of mountain biking events around the Alps that are popular and attract hundreds of keen cyclists each year, from around Lake Tekapo, to a ski/run/bike multisport race held annually at Mt Hutt.

Travel to Christchurch New Zealand

Study University & colleges, Vacantion, Cruise and find the Hotels, guest house, in Christchurch. The local bus service, known as Metro, is provided by Environment Canterbury. The car, however, remains the dominant form of transport. The central city has very flat terrain and the Christchurch City Council is establishing a network of cycle lanes and paths.
There is a functioning tram service in Christchurch, but as a tourist attraction, its loop is restricted to a circuit of the central city. The trams were originally introduced in 1905, ceased operating in 1954, but returned to the inner city (as a tourist attraction) in 1995. In addition to normal bus services, Christchurch also has a pioneering zero-fare hybrid bus service, the Shuttle, in the inner city.

Climate
Christchurch has a dry, temperate climate, with mean daily maximum air temperatures of 22.5 °C (72.5 °F) in January, 11.3 °C (52.3 °F) in July. Under Koppen's climate classification, Christchurch has an Oceanic climate. The summer climate is often moderated by a sea breeze from the Northeast, but a record temperature of 41.6 °C (107 °F) was reached in February 1973. A notable feature of the weather is the nor'wester, a hot föhn wind that occasionally reaches storm force, causing widespread minor damage to property.
In winter it is common for the temperature to fall below (32 °F) at night. There are on average 70 days of ground frost per year. Snow falls occur on average once or twice a year in the hill suburbs and about once or twice every two years on the plain.
On cold winter nights, the surrounding hills, clear skies, and frosty calm conditions often combine to form a stable inversion layer above the city that traps vehicle exhausts and smoke from domestic fires to cause smog.

Christchurch city, the Gateway to the Antarctic

Cruise ship to Artarctica

Christchurch New Zealand has a history of involvement in Antarctic exploration – both Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton used the port of Lyttelton as a departure point for expeditions, and there is a statue of Scott, sculpted by his widow, Kathleen Scott, in the central city.
Within the city the Canterbury Museum preserves and exhibits many historic artifacts and stories of Antarctic exploration.
Christchurch International Airport serves as the major base for the Italian and United States Antarctic programs as well as the New Zealand Antarctic programme.

The International Antarctic Centre provides both base facilities and a museum and visitor centre focused upon current Antarctic activities. The name of Christchurch was agreed on at the first meeting of the association on 27 March 1848.
Christchurch lies in Canterbury, near the centre of the east coast of the South Island, east of the Canterbury Plains. It is located near the southern end of Pegasus Bay, and is bounded to the east by the Pacific Ocean coast and the estuary of the Avon and Heathcote Rivers.

At the centre of the city is Cathedral Square, surrounding the Anglican cathedral, Christ Church. The area around this square and within the "four avenues" of Christchurch (Bealey Avenue, Fitzgerald Avenue, Moorhouse Avenue and Deans Avenue) is considered the central business district of the city. The central city also has a number of residential areas, including Inner City East, Inner City West, Avon Loop, Moa Neighbourhood & Victoria.

Cathedral Square is a popular destination and hosts attractions such as the speakers' corner made famous by the Wizard of New Zealand, Ian Brackenbury Channell, and evangelist Ray Comfort. The central city includes the pedestrianised Cashel Street as Christchurch's urban mall. At one end of the mall stands the Bridge Of Remembrance; at the other end the old location of the amphitheatre known as the Hack Circle.

The Cultural Precinct provides a backdrop to a vibrant scene of ever-changing arts, cultural, and heritage attractions within an area of less than one square kilometre. The Arts Centre, the Canterbury Museum and the Art Gallery are located in the Cultural Precinct. Fishing, waterskiing, swimming and other water activities are popular in summer. the Lake Rotorua is also used as a departure and landing point for float planes.
Rotorua is also home to botanical gardens and interesting historic architecture. Known as a spa town and major tourist resort since the 1800s, many of its buildings hint at this history. Government Gardens, close to the lakeshore at the eastern end of the town, are particularly worthy of note.
Another of Rotorua's attractions is the mountain biking. Whakarewarewa (Redwoods) Forest has been described as 'the Disneyland of mountain biking' and has some of the best mountain bike trails in New Zealand.

Taupo New Zealand

Visit to NZ and travel To Toupo and stay in (hotel/Motel):

Taupo is a town on the shore of Lake Taupo in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. It is in the Wellington region at the southern tip of the North Island, near the geographical centre of the country.
Like many cities, Wellington's urban area extends well beyond the boundaries of a single local authority. Greater Wellington or the Wellington Region means the entire urban area, plus the rural parts of the cities and the Kapiti Coast, and across the Rimutaka Range to the Wairarapa. Wellington is New Zealand's political centre, housing Parliament and the head offices of all government ministries and departments, plus the bulk of the foreign diplomatic missions based in New Zealand.
Wellington's compact city centre supports an arts scene, café culture and nightlife much larger than most cities of a similar size. It is a centre of New Zealand's film and theatre industry. Te Papa Tongarewa (the Museum of New Zealand), the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the biennial New Zealand International Arts Festival are all sited there.

New zealand Cities Hotel

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210709278124935106" style="FLOAT: left; You need to see it to understand, just describing it is not enough. Mind you, if you have seen some recent movies that were made in New Zealand, you probably have seen it and not realised. Those spectacular landscapes in the Lord of the Rings trilogy are based on New Zealand scenery.
Sure they were computer enhanced, but only in places, and the real scenery is still there to be visited. Selected highlights are:
Mount Cook: New Zealand's highest mountain, in the heart of the Southern Alps. Fiordland and Milford Sound: they built the road here, including a tunnel under the mountains, just for the tourists. Queenstown on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and with the other Southern Lakes in easy reach. Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers: in the Westland region.
The Canterbury plains.
Mount Ruapehu and Lake Taupo: volcanoes with lakes in them. White Island, one of New Zealand's more active volcanoes. Bay of Islands, where the Waitangi treaty house can be found and the place where New Zealand's founding document, the Treaty of Waitangi, was signed. The copies are now held by the Archives New Zealand in Wellington. Ninety Mile Beach. New Year Cruise to New Zealand, Or flight to NZ and holiday sleep at best motel, hotel.

New Zealand Tour

Travel And Vacation to Wellington, Dunedin, Auckland Christchurch, Queenstown, Rotorua, Nelson, Te Anau, Paihia, Tauranga, Napier, Hamilton, Greymouth, flight to cities in New Zealand.
Go there for celebrate the New Year 2oo8 in In New Zealand.
Visit the Havelock North, this a great base for exploring the Hawkes Bay wineries. and home to Te Mata peak. travel to Hokianga, is wild, beautiful, bi-cultural.
