1 - 7 ΙΟΥΛΙΟΥ 2012 ΣΤΗ «ΓΙΟΡΤΗ ΚΡΗΤΙΚΗΣ ΔΙΑΤΡΟΦΗΣ»

Η Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Ρεθύμνης και ο Δήμος Ρεθύμνης στο πλαίσιο προώθησης και προβολής των τοπικών προϊόντων, πρόκειται να διοργανώσουν από κοινού για πρώτη φορά φέτος τη «Γιορτή Κρητικής Διατροφής». Η εν λόγω εκδήλωση, η οποία θα περιλαμβάνει έκθεση τοπικών προϊόντων, γευσιγνωσία, πολιτιστικού και εκπαιδευτικού χαρακτήρα (π.χ ημερίδες) δραστηριότητες θα πραγματοποιηθεί 1-7 Ιουλίου 2012 στο Δημοτικό Κήπο Ρεθύμνου.

Στο πλαίσιο της παραπάνω εκδήλωσης, θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Τρίτη, 24 Απριλίου στις 12 το μεσημέρι, στην έδρα της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Ρεθύμνης (Πλατεία Ηρώων Πολυτεχνείου) ενημερωτική συνάντηση με τους τοπικούς παραγωγούς και επιχειρήσεις.

Στη συνάντηση αυτή μπορούν να συμμετάσχουν όσοι παραγωγοί και επιχειρήσεις της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Ρεθύμνης ενδιαφέρονται να εκθέσουν τα προϊόντα τους στην έκθεση τοπικών προϊόντων της «Γιορτής Κρητικής Διατροφής».

The cosmonaut Theodoros Giourhitsin is Greek origin, his real last name is Grammatikopoulos. He is very famous in Russia and is about to participate in the big promoting celebration for Cretan and Greek tourist products during the 19th Moscow International Exhibition Travel and Tourism, MITT 2012.

The Russian cosmonaut will participate in the event organized by the tourist agencies of Crete that will take place on Sunday, according to statements of Regional Governor Stavros Arnaoutakis from Moscow, where he's travelled for the event.

"Crete and Greece are in the centre of attention in that year's tourist exhibition of Moscow, and the positive thing is that we are expecting an increase in visitors from Russia, Ukraine and the rest of the Eastern European countries", explained the regional Governor of Crete.

Crete is about to be advertised in Moscow's subway for a whole month and the cost is only 12.000 euros, while a big Russian TV station will visit Crete in order to present it to the public.

Tourist mobility is expected to be increased as the messages from the Moscow exhibition imply. Moreover, it is estimated that Greek visa applications will be increased by 19% in 2012.

The first charter flights and cruises to Crete for 2012

Earlier this year begins the turistic season to Chania. So far from twenty European airports have scheduled flights for March, April and May to Chania airport "Ioannis Daskalogiannis" with low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, Norwegian, Cimber Sterling and EasyJet.
In particular, departures are scheduled from airports in European cities and countries such as Bergen, Bologna, Brussels, Copenhagen, Ntiseltorf, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Milan, Glasgow, Oslo, Paphos, Rome, Paphos, Stockholm, Denmark, England and Poland.

Ο Ε.Ο.Τ συμμετείχε στη 18η διεθνή έκθεση τουρισμού Ι.Μ.Τ.Μ η οποία πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 14 και 15 Φεβρουαρίου στο Τελ Αβίβ του Ισραήλ πλαισιωμένος από 12 συνεκθέτες. Σύμφωνα με τον θερινό πίνακα δρομολογίων του 2012, η KLM, από τις 25 Μαρτίου πρόκειται να μειώσει τις πτήσεις της από Άμστερνταμ - Αθήνα σε μία μόνο καθημερινή, την απογευματινή.

Ενώ η Olympic Air για το ίδιο διάστημα αυξάνει τις πτήσεις της σε δύο.

Η Air Canada μειώνει τα δρομολόγιά της για Αθήνα.
Το δρομολόγιο Μόντρεαλ - Αθήνα, που ξεκινάει 1 Ιουνίου 2012, θα πραγματοποιείται δύο φορές αντί για 3 την εβδομάδα.
Η αύξηση των πτήσεων που είχε ανακοινωθεί για το δρομολόγιο Τορόντο - Αθήνα, ακυρώνεται. Η Air Canada θα συνεχίσει τις 4 εβδομαδιαίες πτήσεις από το Τορόντο, αντί για 6 την εβδομάδα.

3D Projections of Acropolis

Commencing Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February 2012 and every weekend thereafter, the Acropolis Museum will welcome visitors to its Virtual Reality Theater located on the ground floor of the Museum. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the Acropolis monuments from brief 3D video screenings. The ten-minute film "Acropolis in Antiquity" presents the topography and the monuments of the Rock of the Acropolis during the prehistoric, the Archaic and the classical period. The film aims to help visitors recreate and imagine the impressive sanctuary with the aid of 3D models.

easyJet announce a new route Luton - Heraklion for summer 2012, flights on Tuesdays beginning April 21st, with departure from Luton at 07.00hrs and departure from Heraklion at 13.45hrs. Prices start from £37.99 and bookings are now being taken.

Ryanair have a number of new routes in 2012 to Chania airport in Crete from Leeds/Bradford, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick and London Stanstead, starting the end of March 2012. Ryanair will also be operating direct flights in 2012 between Chania and Brussels, Frankfurt, Milan- Bergamo,Oslo, Pisa and Wroclaw.

Avro - Monarch Airlines Flight -only operator- have also expanded their Crete, Greece programme of summer flights for 2012, with flights from East Midlands and Newcastle to Heraklion.

East Midlands to Heraklion is priced from £249 per person and will operate each Tuesday from 12 May to 25 September.
Newcastle to Heraklion starts from £259, operating from May to November each Tuesday.

Ryanair connects Chania with Glasgow (Prestwick)

Chania has been added to budget airline Ryanair's flights from Scotland. The carrier will fly from Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Chania (I. Daskalogiannis Airport) in Crete from early next year.

Seats on the new route are already on sale. Officially flights to Chania will start from 27th of March, 2012.

Glasgow Prestwick's chief commercial officer Graeme Sweenie said:

"We're delighted to be part of Ryanair's growth and success in Scotland. This is great news for the airport and our summer flight season. CHANIA - FRANKFURT & MILAN FROM MAY 2011

Ryanair, the world's favourite airline, at 24th March announced its first routes from Chania (second largest city on the Greek island of Crete) to Frankfurt Hahn and Milan Bergamo from May 2011 which will deliver 60,000 passengers p.a. and create up to 60 local jobs in Crete.

Ryanair celebrated its first Crete route by launching a 1 million €7 seat sale for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in late April and early May which are available for booking until midnight Monday (28th Mar). Ryanair's Chania routes go on sale on www.ryanair.com at 25th March.

On Sunday 20th of March, if the weather permits it, a new ferry boat will arrive at Gavdos island.
The new boat "Gavdos Express 1" belongs to Gavdos Lines company, a company based on the island.
"Gavdos Express 1" constructed three years ago, develops speed of 25 to 28 knots and can transfer 65 people.
