Riverwalk Marketplace another mall with the same feel but with more to offer and some higher end stuff

The Shops at Canal Street high end stuff like Saks Fifth Avenue lots of shopping

Magazine Street lots of shopping streched out over a long distance so parking can a pain

Magazine Street these are the unique stores

$18 a adult and took about 3 hours

The pictures and the brochures make the walk though under water tank look like something its not, its no bigger than what you see in the pictures

We went when they first opened at 10am and that worked out good because they were feeding everything at that time

Also the employees were very interactive early

The Penguins are fun to watch and could of for hours also the Sea Otters

Being so close to the White Alligator was cool

My wife touched a small shark and a sting ray

but we spent most of our time at the big tank that had larger sharks and a huge school of fish that just did lap after lap that made for some good pictures

Like i said good place to beat the heat and if you have kids im sure you would spend many hours there

My favorite museum was the National World War II Museum

Its a few blocks away from the French Quarter.

The main reaason this nice meseum is here is because of Andrew Higgins who designed and built the landing craft credited for winning World War II.

The Higgins boat only make up a small part of the museum.

There are many short movies about the war and many relics.

The museum is set up like a oneway street so you start at the beging of the war and walk though till the end so you wont miss anything.

$20 to get in and you can find coupons on brochures.

I also went to the old U.S mint. Its a big old building and its free to get in but there isnt much there thats why its free.

Unless you collector of old money not much to see. The best part for me was two old light bulbs over a display.

A better place to goto for old money is a Antique store on Royal Street plus they had antique guns mostly old flint lock type.

Next door to the St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square is the Louisiana State Museum .

$6 to get in and worth it .

First floor is about the native people and the first euopean.

Second floor Louisiana Purchase and the growth of New Orleans.

Third floor is mostly Slavery, Cilvil War and it being a port city trading goods with the world

It being October now and with the cooler weather New Orleans feels a little more spooky. We started our day off going to the St. Louis #1 cemetery near the French Quarter its only open during the day. It would be cool if someone could do night tours but i understand why they dont. Most of it is in bad shape but we did see some nice tombs with some recent dates on them. There is a constant flow of tours going on all day so it is sometimes hard to get the picture you want with out some in the pic. If you ver off the main path it gets muddy in some spots. It is also just out side of the Quarter so its best if you go with a group. It is a must see when in New Orleans. That evening we went to a haunted house on the north side of Canal St. the "Mortuary" it was called $15 with a coupon from their web site and well worth it. A well done haunted house with almost Hollywood make up a Amusement Park setting it may ruin other haunted house for me.
We ate at a few good resturants that where just off Bourbon St like Sugar Shack and JägerHaus. Beside that just walked up and down it hoping for something other than drunk collage kids bumping into you and puffing up their chest looking for a fight. Or they guys high pressure push to get you into their Bar or Resturant. The stripers trying to get you to come inside and when you ingnor them they call you gay or fat. The cops were fun to watch, they would tell all the dudes " keep it moving" then would hit on their girlfriends. So i always went to Bourbon St but didn't do much. But i cuoldn't imagain what it would be like during Mardi Gras

Canal Street was great for people watching while my wife went shopping for junk to bring home. It has a huge side walk down both side so plenty of room to distance your self from some people. Like the guy that sold Nola shirts out of a box, but the bad part was every day he would mop his area. it didn't look any cleaner just pushed the dirt around a bit. or the guy that asked for money all the time which isn't to strange either but he wore a coat that he had to cut up to little pieces. Its also funny to watch the guy with the spinneers drive past the loud over sized 4x4. the drunks trying to cross 4 lanes of traffic and a rail crossing. The call girls speed walking out of the hotels and down the street. Beisde people watching Canal St is good for buying beads , eating fast food and buying alcohol, if you have a way to keep beer cold in your room goto CVS and pay normal prices.
When your about 20 miles out of town and having never been there before you think your in a different world , You see house's but no yards, Bridges but no cars. Then when your just about in town you see a grass hill with a concrete wall on top then it fells like your in any town U.S.A. Once we passed that concrete wall or the levee we needed gas i was cutting it close. The streets were busy leaving the gas station so i figuard i would go around the block to get back to I-10. I cant turn left here I cant turn left there so right it is. well i cant turn left here either but i can in the middle of the block strange. Come to find out you cant turn left at a intersection only Uturns in mid blocks, strange but after a week i kinda liked it.
