Encinitas has a different vibe than any of the beach towns north of San Diego – but what is it that makes it so captivating, so special? Many feel its because Encinitas is still lost in time back in the 1960s when California was a much simpler place with small roadside motels along Highway 101. Encinitas hotels didn’t exist back in the 60s, nor were there any Encinitas Bed and Breakfasts or hotels in Del Mar or the Cardiff Lodge.

Encinitas is still home to tiny roadside motels and hotels dating to the 1950’s. You’ll find a surf shop on every block. At the Roxy Restaurant you can enjoy a glass of rum and an ice cream cone. Encinitas is home to world famous Moonlight Beach and romantic Encinitas bed and breakfasts – that’s why it’s been called “San Diego’s Coolest Beach Town.”

Business people and surfers alike line up at Juanita’s Taco Shop for lunch. The wide sidewalks along the historic Old Highway U.S. 101 in downtown Encinitas is jam-packed with outdoor restaurants. Tourists and kids can be seen walking around downtown barefoot in swim suits while other are waxing down their surfboards for a session at Moonlight Beach before heading back to their Encinitas Bed & Breakfast or Del Mar Inn near the beach.

Moonlight Beach has the best of San Diego beaches and is an easy walk from the Inn At Moonlight Beach Bed and Breakfast Inn. It’s a great spot to soak up some sun, enjoy a game of pickup volleyball, have a picnic or cookout at the big fire-rings, try your hand at surfing or boogie-boarding, body surf, read a book, people watch or just kick back and “chill.” You won’t find a better beach in Encinitas to work on your tan.

Ann Dunham is the hostess of the romantic Encinitas B&B (Bed and Breakfast) called the Inn At Moonlight Beach. This lovely boutique inn is far more intimate than a Del Mar B&B or Encinitas hotel. The inn is situated on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Moonlight Beach and is often called the San Diego Beach Bed and Breakfast, said to be more romantic than Del Mar Hotels and more lovely than the <a target="target='_blank' _blank' href="http://www.carlsbad-bed-and-breakfasts.com/" rel="nofollow">Carlsbad Bed and Breakfasts.

The Inn At Moonlight Beach has only 4 rooms, each decorated like an Italian seaside hotel. All the rooms have a refrigerator and free wi-fi. There are boogie boards and beach umbrellas waiting for you to hit the beach and ride the waves. What makes this Encinitas bed & breakfast really special is that Ann bakes her own pastries for you each morning.

Terry Hunefeld retired as CEO of a San Diego coaching company to follow his love of exploring the ocean to study seabirds and marine animals. Hunefeld and his wife Ann Dunham own the Inn At Moonlight Beach in Encinitas near Del Mar and San Diego. For more information visit: Solana Beach Hotels or Carlsbad B&B.

When searching for Alaska fishing lodges, there are many aspects that need to be taken into consideration. For instance, the atmosphere of the area, kind of fishing available, number of meals served, accommodations needed, transportation to and from the airport, whether or not there are guided trips included, and the type of packages offered. All of these facts will help determine which lodge to choose.

Lodging- The variety of accommodations available can be huge determining factors. It depends on if the desire is to get away to a secluded cabin or mingle with large groups in a lodge. There are quite a few fishing lodges that are multi-level, each floor being similar to a hotel setting. People will have individual rooms, but dining and socializing takes place in a common area. Individual cabins are available at many locations, for those wanting to be more secluded. A houseboat is even an option for some resorts located on or near the water.

Airport Transportation- Getting to and from the airport can be an issue, unless the person traveling knows someone who already lives there. Most lodges offer pick-up and drop-off at the airport. If there isn’t a scheduled shuttle to and from the airport, than most fishing lodges will get travel information for specific transportation times.

Extras- The variety of amenities is something to take into consideration, especially if there is a diverse group going. Just because it is a fishing lodge, doesn’t mean they only offer fishing. Some lodges also include kayaking, rafting, hunting, or even bear viewing. Fishing lodges may offer all or only one of these added amenities. If fishing is the only thing offered, they might also offer assisting in getting the proper licenses and stamps. They might also help in cleaning, packaging, freezing, and boxing fish for the ride home.

Fishing- Types of fishing available at most lodges are spin cast fishing and fly fishing. The rivers are where fly fishing is most likely to take place, while spin cast fishing is more often used in the deeper waters. The Alaskan rivers are filled with halibut, yelloweye rockfish, rainbow trout, silver salmon, chum salmon, sockeye salmon, king salmon, and lingcod. Chartered tours going to deeper waters for fishing are generally catching king or Alaska salmon.

Deep water fishing can include Alaska and king salmon as well. Many lodges know it is difficult to carry a lot of fishing equipment when traveling, so they will rent out equipment for the type of fishing they offer. Guides and transportation are generally provided for these trips as well.

Meals- Many fishing lodges offer all meals. There are some that give the choice of including the cost of meals with accommodation pricing.

Alaska fishing lodges come in such a great variety, it is easy for someone to find one that has all amenities and accommodations desired for that perfect fishing trip.

Although the madness of an Orlando vacation might seem scary at times with the number of theme parks to visit, this city has more for the visitor if they want something a little different. Orlando Town is also your destination for museums, galleries, historical places, edifices, flea markets, churches and much more. Although it wasn’t always this full of attractions, it has been pulling in visitors for many years and its popularity does not seem to be diminishing.

It is a great place to visit even if you only have shopping on your mind as Orlando area is full of beautiful shopping malls, restaurants and shops of every type. Besides the major theme parks, a vacation in Orlando can offer so many attractions to spark the imagination that it’s hard to know where to begin.

The Central Florida Zoo for instance only opened back in 1975 and was owned by the Sanford Fire Department prior to that but is now the home to over four hundred animals. Even though it is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention of providing classes for children and protecting species that are only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.

Then there are the works of Louis Tiffany whose famous collection is housed here in the Morse Museum of American Art. This collection comprises Tiffany art glass, clayware and ornaments plus the chapel interior designed for the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

While Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. For people that prefer the night, the list of things to do on an Orlando vacation is almost endless with families, teenagers and adults all well looked after.

Another great place to visit about twenty minutes drive from Orlando Airport is The Orlando Science Center, originating back to 1955; it is a huge complex with over two hundred thousand square feet of exhibition space spanning ten halls. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the country’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

The Titanic ” Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. Of course if you prefer something more relaxing then you should visit Lake Eola Park, situated in the heart of downtown; this is the city’s main attraction with 43 acres of beautiful sidewalks and a boating lake.

Of course how could anyone possibly visit Orlando without a visit to at least one theme park; and for those of you who are unsure Disney has four; not including the water parks; Universal has its own versions including Seaworld. Everyone that takes a vacation in Orlando wants to return and experience more of the attractions it has to offer.

Maple Leaf Tickets would love to welcome you to sunny Orlando Florida by showing you how to save a bundle of money on your Walt Orlando Disney Tickets.

Itching for a vacation? But you still don’t know where to go? Rule out the sandy beaches and the martini with little umbrellas because now is the time to visit New York. It has been common already for many office drones to spend their vacation in a small beach in the Caribbean but you definitely should break the trend by getting the New York City luxury hotel experience and drowning yourself in the wild parties and booze this great city has been offering.

This city is the host for many of the country’s great hotels. New York City certainly a plethora of 5 star, 4 star and 3 star hotels for you to choose from. Depending on your budget, you can opt to experience the world-class accommodation of The Carlyle, a 5 star hotel or you can go to the Hilton New York, a 3 star hotel with accommodations still fit for a king.

There are also 4 star and 3 star hotels that you can go to in case you are not willing to splurge on the ultimate hotel experience during your trip to New York. But nevertheless, you will still get a great hotel experience on these establishments.

So, if you are not going to allow yourself to miss the 5-star accommodation, you have to be ready to shell the bucks since New York luxury hotels usually charge a high-premium on their world-class amenities and services. Don’t be stingy and splurge on yourself.

Now, if you have already availed of a luxury hotel accommodation in New York, it would also be worth your while to check out its famous places which would dramatically increase your New York vacation experience. A must-seen place to visit is Central Park, which boasts of two and a half million visitors every month because of its wide array of great sites to see such as the Belvedere Castle.

The nightlife in New York has certainly been a must-see in New York too. Its reputation as the “city that never sleeps” certainly has been given deservingly. Bars, restaurants and other hip joints offer the ultimate hedonistic pleasures that you may be searching and wanting to experience during your vacation.

Before setting out on your quest for the amazing NYC nightlife, you have to check out the travel guides and the bars listing of the city because it would certainly make it hard for you to choose once you’re on the street due to New York’s wide array of bars and hip joints. But it never hurts to just try and enjoy what comes into view, right? Vacations are supposed to full of new experiences.

Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barak Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention. Tokyo was the next to go, before Rio got the nod over Madrid in the final round of balloting.

Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan. Despite some media attention to the betting odds, bookmakers reported that they didn’t receive a lot of action on the event.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points. The Brazilian leader stressed the unfairness that South America had never hosted the games in his speech to the committee;

“It is a time to address this imbalance. It is time to light the Olympic cauldron in a tropical country.”

The Olympic committee was apparently swayed by this presentation and paid no mind to Rios many downsides. It is without a doubt the most dangerous of the finalist cities, where drug cartels and armed bands of thugs roam without impunity. Well do to Rio citizens are used to removing watches and jewelry before they drive anywhere lest they be targeted by carjacking brigands. Rios murder rate is also one of the highest in the world. Brazilian bid officials have stressed that security will be a priority at the games and it better be lest the Olympics turn into a bloodbath.

Some IOC members suggested that the summary dismissal of Chicagos bid was more of a rebuke of the notoriously corrupt USOC. The last two Olympics held in the US were tainted by crime and corruption. The 1996 Atlanta Olympics were disrupted by a terrorist bombing, while the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games were marred by a well known bribery and corruption scandal. Some suggested that US President Obama’s quick and perfunctory visit was taken as more of an insult by the delegates than anything else.

In this installment of our guide to holidays in Greece we look at the top 5 places in Greece to visit…

Despite being relatively small, Greece offers numerous places for travelers to visit. While the islands are the most popular tourist destinations, mainland Greece also has much to offer. The country’s five top destinations include the mainland cities of Athens and Thessaloniki, and the islands of Crete, Rhodes and Corfu.

The ancient city of Athens is rich in historic sites, and because of its importance as the country’s capital and largest city it also has many significant museums and galleries. Most of these attractions are in or around the city centre. Athens’ numerous beautiful parks, hills and mountains offer respite from the busy and noisy streets.

The country’s second largest city, Thessaloniki, lies in northeastern Greece. This city has a continuous 3000-year history and well preserved architecture, much of which is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Its old town has narrow cobbled streets and historic houses built in a variety of traditional styles. The city’s long, attractive seafront promenade offers panoramic views of the bay. Thessaloniki also has a very active nightlife and a wide range of quality restaurants.

The island of Corfu, located just off the West coast of mainland Greece, is a popular destination for holiday makers because of its excellent beaches, rich history and mild Mediterranean climate. It’s very green compared to other Greek islands (containing over 2 million olive trees) and boasts a 1000 meter high mountain which offers breathtaking views across to neighboring islands.

Lying far to the south of the mainland, Crete is Europe’s southernmost island in Europe and basks in sunshine for much of the year. Being Greece’s largest island, it offers plenty of variety. The coast has long sandy beaches, rocky bays and quiet coves, as well as beach bars and sophisticated nightclubs. The interior offers traditional mountain villages and abundant wildlife, forests and flowers. Many of the island’s plants are unique to Crete.

Inhabited since the Stone Age, the island of Rhodes has a rugged, hilly interior and a rocky coast with many good beaches. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands in Greece. The north coast has lively nightlife, while the south is quieter, more traditional and rich in historic sites.

If you’re interested in or you are planning on visiting Mexico, you might need to find methods of travel. Unless you are staying at some beach haunt, spa resort, or even golf resort, it’s likely that you will wish to go out and see all the things which Mexico offers.

Perhaps, the most popular way to travel is driving and while most individuals fly to Mexico, some drive and if you do happen to drive to Mexico, it’s likely that you would wish to have your own car. The main part that you must be concerned with is the documents and car insurance which are required to drive there.

If you are planning on using your vehicle to travel into or about Mexico, you’ll have to file for a vehicle import license. These licenses may be gotten prior to leaving for Mexico or you could of course obtain them as soon as you get there. Vehicle import permits are essential as if you don’t have one you might be imprisoned, have to pay a fine, or even get the vehicle impounded.

Along with getting a vehicle import permit, you’ll additionally need to have insurance and sadly, most people think that their present policy would be okay for a Mexico vacation, although in many cases, this is not true. To get auto insurance when within Mexico, you’ll need to find a Mexican auto insurance company or a provider which functions internationally. While initially scheduling this Mexico vacation, it is advised that you obtain auto insurance for your trip.

Not all travelers enter Mexico driving themselves so if you choose to fly into Mexico, you can still use a car to get around as a large number of tourists decide to rent a car here, where they are a cheap and easy way to get about.

Similar to car rental policies in the United States, you must be at least twenty-five years old to rent a vehicle, but other stipulations may involve, although aren’t restricted to, possessing a valid driver’s license as well as a present insurance policy. Just like using a personal vehicle, you may need to obtain auto insurance from a company in Mexico.

Traveling by train, in Mexico, can be an amazing time and you’ll find that a train ride is a great way to see everything that Mexico can show. Along with standard train journeys, you’ll discover that Mexico provides several rail excursions that are an excellent method for one to see the sights while traveling to another part of the country.

In addition to car rentals, driving yourself, or taking the train, you could additionally travel around Mexico by taking the bus and in numerous parts of Mexico, moving around via bus is highly recommended. Buses depart from popular vacation destinations, many times, every hour, plus buses are available throughout the country, even in destinations which aren’t as known about or popular. No matter where you’re located, it should be possible for you to grab a bus.

Traveling by car, bus, or train is often viewed as the sole way to move about Mexico though it might also be possible for you to move about by boat. The only downside to traveling by boat is that you’re given a small amount of travel options, but if you are interested in traveling between coastal cities, that might be a great way to get to your next place to sight see.

by Richard Galochkin

If you love camping (and why wouldn’t you) you know that it’s the kind of activity where you take the good with the bad. The joy of the outdoors, nature, fresh air and sleeping under the stars can just as often be summed up as voluntary torture. Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate, the equipment fails and the ground is a cold, hard reminder of the comfort in which you could be sleeping if you’d just had the sense to stay home. Of course, had you stayed home, you’d be missing out on all that nature. The mosquitoes, spiders, tics, sudden storms, poison ivy, ah nature. Think of all the lonely vermin.

For some folks, that stuff is what turns a trip to the outdoors into something memorable worth talking about. These folks are happy as long as they aren’t eaten by a bear (mild mauling acceptable providing it contributes to a good after-story). They’re as content to eat grubs and roots as they would be to eat steak and potatoes; arguably happier, as the former menu option places them more in the experience. Of course, we’re not all masochists.

The polar opposite of the people who like a bit of dengue fever, F4 tornados, white-out blizzard conditions and one wet match and a roll of duct tape to get by on are the urban campers. These are the folks who include an RV in their camping supplies. Nothing says roughing it like a luxuriously appointed fiberglass shell traveling at an oh-so-green 12 miles per gallon from one destination to another in order to share the, um, wilderness experience with 40 strangers. The only things that can ruin the great outdoors experience for these folks is poor satellite TV reception and a shortage of hot, running water. Can you blame them? Who wants to miss an episode of Survivor or I’m a Celebrity, be Disgusted (name changed to more accurately reflect content)? After all, why immerse yourself fully in nature when the flat screen TV mounted on your camper’s wall can simulate the environment you’re currently parked in?

So there are your fringes, but what about those of us in the middle? Well, if you’re like me, you try to find a balance between being removed from all that electric beeping nonsense that seems to dominate our daily lives but not quite auditioning to be a Bear Grylls stand-in. You don’t need the RV, but you won’t turn your nose up at a tent that doesn’t leak. You accept that there will be bugs, but you include a small bottle of insect repellent in your backpack. You left the goose-liver pate at home but allowed for some high-end perishables at the start of the trip before you’ll be forced to turn to your freeze-dried edibles. You may have even packed a couple beers. Your mileage may vary.

The simple rule for middle-ground campers who don’t want to do one-on-one combat with the wild life or worry about where our travel-along masseuse will sleep is that, if we can carry it on our hike to our campsite, it’s fair game. Factors such as the distance we have to travel, our own stamina and the type of terrain we’ll be navigating tend set the limits of what we’ll bring along. But, even so, most of us have a couple “essential” items. I define these as luxuries we could do without but prefer not to. In my case, great food and great sleep are those items.

The good food part is actually easy to accomplish. I cheat. I always try to go camping with my buddy who happens to be a chef who missed his calling in life. This guy could turn week-old road-kill into something palatable if he set his mind to it. The second part, great sleep, requires me to actually haul something; an air mattress bed.

Now, I’m not talking about having a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed air lifted to our planned camp site or anything. Mind you, I own one and if it were in the budget, I might try to find a way to get it there. But money isn’t that plentiful, unfortunately. What I am talking about is a self-inflating camping air mattress. If it were up to me, the guy or gal who invented these things would be up for a Nobel Prize.

In the old days (yes, I’m old enough to say that) the alternative to sleeping on bare ground was a foam sleeping pad. Neither comfortable nor ideal, foam pads were good primarily at keeping the cold at bay and minimizing (or at least spreading out) discomfort caused by that one twig, rock or root you failed to clear away before bedding down. My camping buddies and I nicknamed the pads better-than-nothing beds because that’s precisely what they amounted to. When air mattresses for camping came along, they were little better than pads for comfort but were also bulkier, heavier and prone to puncturing and leaking. They also took forever to inflate.

Of course, technology marches on and air mattress beds made specifically for camping became much better. Materials became far more durable and self-inflation construction made these things a breeze to setup. The final step towards perfection came in the form of compaction. Modern camping air mattresses squeeze down as small as or smaller than their foam cousins. All in all, you’d be nuts not to include one of these in your camping kit.

Variety and luxury are the name of the game with modern air mattresses, making them a wonderful option for even the most discerning of campers (you RVers know who you are). Whether you’re camping out of the back of a pickup truck, an SUV or need a guest bed for your maid, there’s a cozy air mattress bed out there for you. Custom styles are made to fit a variety of trucks and SUVs, allow you to stay off the cold ground on 4, 6 or even 8 inches of comfortable air.

But there are always going to be those folks who frown on air mattresses. The hard men and women of the camping world would prefer to sleep, as nature intended, on the cold hard ground. They are welcome to it. In fact, they are welcome to go camping with me. Should some rabid critter attack in the middle of the night it will have two potential meals from which to choose; a spry and well-rested air mattress bed sleeper and a groggy, sore and slow-to respond tough guy/gal. Guess who wins in that equation. But, hey, they’ll have great scars to show off if they make it home to tell the story, right?
