      <description>NORWALK, Conn., (Jan. 9, 2009) &#45; Just because you are traveling or on holiday doesn&#39;t mean you have to throw out all of your good health habits. In fact, it is an easier time to be healthy.
Many Americans take to the highways and skyways for some sort of trip each year &#45; be it business or pleasure, and they often fall prey to the &#34;ease&#34; of fast food drive&#45;thrus and prepackaged snacks, or extravagant and excessive meals just because, &#34;I&#39;m on vacation.&#34;

&#34;On your next trip away from home, take the opportunity to be picky and turn your travels into a time where you actually feel great in your body and have the energy to do things that you want and need to do,&#34; said actress and author Mariel Hemingway. &#34;Make treats actual treats and indulge in moderation and you will find you enjoy them even more.

&#34;Staying healthy while you travel is your choice. Make your next getaway enjoyable for the body, mind and spirit.&#34;

&#34;Practicing good health habits at home will make it easier to translate those same habits to your next vacation,&#34; said John Sessler, vice president of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com. &#34;But even if you&#39;re not on the good&#45;health wagon, it&#39;s easier than you think to get started when you travel.&#34;

The experts at Travelers Advantage and I offer some of the following tips to help you stay healthier &#45; and happier &#45; on your next trip:

  Avoid eating &#34;fast and easy&#34; food &#45; That little sack of peanuts may seem harmless, but in reality is packed with sugars and carbohydrates. While you can&#39;t bring your own beverages from home on a plane, you can bring your own food. Pack a healthy snack at home (try raw nuts, fruit or a veggie sandwich) and avoid the burger and fries at the airport food court for your trip. If you&#39;re on the road, avoid the chip aisle and look for a freshly prepared sandwich, fruit cup or nuts without loads of extra salt and sugar.

  Bring your workout gear &#45; Regardless of if it&#39;s for work or pleasure, you shouldn&#39;t have to abandon your workout routine when you&#39;re on the road. Today, most hotels have some sort of workout room. You don&#39;t have to do your full&#45;circuit training, but fit in 30 to 45 minutes of exercise a day. Not only will you have more energy, but that inevitable treat that&#39;s outside your usual diet will not make you feel as guilty. Even if you don&#39;t have access to a workout area, try doing sit&#45;ups, push&#45;ups, squats or lunges in your own room, or take a walk around the area you&#39;re staying. Traveling on foot is by far one of the best ways to get to see a new place so take advantage of the opportunity.

  Be proactive about your health &#45; Get plenty of rest when you&#39;re on the road regardless if you&#39;re traveling for work or play. This will allow your body to recharge and keep your front&#45;line defenses in top shape. Frequently wash your hands, especially when travelling through busy airports or other high&#45;traffic, public places. If you&#39;re traveling abroad (especially outside of Europe), make yourself aware of any potential issues with public water sources. And while trying the local cuisine can be a great experience, ensure meat is fully cooked and buy smart if you chose to buy from local street vendors.

  Take special care on airplanes &#45; If you&#39;re traveling by plane, dab sesame oil in your nose to keep from getting dried out and becoming susceptible to illness. Silver spray, a product that can be picked up from almost any health food store, is also a great way to help boost your immune system while it attacks any germs you may pick up.

      <description>Actress, Author Mariel Hemingway &amp;amp; Travelers Advantage say:

NORWALK, Conn., Dec. 18, 2008 &#45; The focus on living green or becoming more &#8220;eco&#45;friendly&#8221; in the way we go about our everyday lives is becoming more and more common all across the world. But we sometimes find it hard to practice these same activities &#45; recycling, conserving and reusing &#45; when we travel.
&quot;Traveling eco&#45;friendly is not about giving up luxury, it&#8217;s about traveling more thoughtfully,&#8221; said actress and author Mariel Hemingway. &#8220;By travelling greener we not only enjoy this world&#8217;s beautiful destinations, but also help preserve them for people to enjoy for years to come.&#8221;

Fortunately, it&#8217;s becoming easier than ever to travel green. In fact, according to the World Tourism Organisation, eco&#45;tourism is considered the fastest growing market in the tourism industry, growing at a rate of 5 percent worldwide each year and representing 11.4 percent of all consumer spending.

&#8220;A greener vacation doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean premium price,&#8221; said Leslie Downey, director of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com. &#8220;Unlike organic items in a grocery, green travel is accessible for any budget. And from your next business trip to an exotic excursion, it&#8217;s easy to go green regardless of where or why you travel.&#8221;

Green travel can be defined in many ways. On one level, there is a whole segment of travel resorts and excursions that are targeted at providing a luxury experience sans carbon emissions. Others provide you with an intensely local experience, from native cuisine, locally owned lodging and unique area excursions greatly accessible by foot, bike or on the back of an animal. And even if you are staying in a standard hotel or on your usual family road trip, there are things you can do to make your trip greener:

Take a train instead of flying for shorter trips.
Use public transportation instead of taxis or rental cars whenever possible.
If you do have to take a rental car, consider a hybrid or smaller economy car instead of larger vehicles.
Hang up your towels and leave a note to hotel staff that it is unnecessary to change your sheets every day.
If your hotel doesn&#8217;t recycle, take your recyclables home with you.

Nearly 1 billion tourists travel around the globe each year. And if we all act more environmentally responsible when we travel, we can help ensure our world&#8217;s breathtaking locations and beautiful vacations remain that way forever.

If you&#39;re interested in making your next trip a little greener, the experts at Travelers Advantage recommend researching the following unique locations:

Hotel Terra &#45; Jackson Hole, Wyo. &#45; Hotel Terra offers an in&#45;room recycling program and uses 100 percent organic cotton sheets, towels, bath mats and robes. The hotel is donned with non&#45;toxic paints and carpets and uses chemical&#45;free cleaning products among many other eco&#45;conscious activities. Go for great skiing in the winter and enjoy sleigh rides, dog sledding and winter wildlife expeditions. This hotel is currently pending a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification which would put it in an elite group of environmentally sustainable buildings in the U.S.
 Jungle Bay Resort &#45; Dominica &#45; This Caribbean resort was crafted from used wood and discarded stone from an old mining quarry, but the luxury accommodations are anything but second&#45;hand. The resort&#8217;s restaurant serves 95 percent locally grown organic food and practices composting. All guests receive a reusable water bottle on arrival that can be filled at water stations throughout the property. Local guides trained in responsible travel techniques take guests on guided educational tours through fragile ecosystems.
Eco Lodges &#45; Indonesia &#45; Boasting the prestigious Green Globe EC3 certification for sustainability and highest environmental standards in global travel, the Udayana Eco Lodge in Bali is centrally located for easy walking to Bali&#8217;s beaches, shopping areas and fish restaurants. The hotel is tucked high in the Jimbaran hills in a conservation area for birds and butterflies with vista views abounding.

      <description>NORWALK, Conn., Dec. 15, 2008 &#45; Many people travel during the hectic holiday season, and it can be very stressful, says author and travel expert Mariel Hemingway.
&#34;I&#39;ve been a globe&#45;trotter for most of my life,&#34; Hemingway says. &#34;Along the way, I&#39;ve discovered certain tips and gadgets that can make travel more comfortable. You&#39;d be surprised how these small, simple things can help you arrive at your destination happy and relaxed.&#34;

A few of Hemingway&#39;s suggestions:

  Bring an air purifier and noise cancellation headphones, which can also work as a sound system for playing music.

  Use sesame oil and silver spray. &#34;This sounds odd, but I put a dab of sesame oil in my nostrils,&#34; she says. &#34;It keeps your nose and throat from getting dry at high altitudes and makes you less susceptible to airborne illnesses that thrive in planes. Silver spray is also really beneficial. It helps boost the immune system and attacks any germs that you may pick up. It&#39;s highly effective and available at most health food stores.&#34;

   Tale along your own tea and food. &#34;I like to know where my food has been and how it&#39;s been prepared, and if you bring your own, you know you&#39;ll arrive feeling good, with no surprise or unpleasant reactions to airplane food.&#34;

Leslie Downey, director of communications for Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com, also has recommendations for gadgets that can make traveling less stressful. &#34;There are a variety of portable devices and electronics that can make you more comfortable when you&#39;re getting from point A to point B,&#34; she says. &#34;And they make great gifts and stocking stuffers for the traveler on your list.&#34;

Some favorites from Travelers Advantage include:

  Portable DVD players &#45; Lightweight entertainment that&#39;s easy to pack &#45; a lifesaver if you have children along for the ride.

  MP3 players, iPods &amp;amp; Mobile phones &#45; Music is a great stress reliever and makes the miles fly by. An MP3 player or iPod also politely lets the chatty stranger next to you know that you don&#39;t feel like talking. Many mobile phones, like the iPhone, have special airplane modes that allow travelers to listen to music or watch movies while adhering to in&#45;flight rules.

  Handheld GPS devices &#45; They know where you are, even when you don&#39;t. GPS devices use satellite signals to pinpoint exactly where you are and how fast you&#39;re going. Many contain detailed street maps, which are helpful in new cities.

  Buckey pillows, travel pillows and travel massagers &#45; When you&#39;re napping on a plane or riding in a car, you need proper head and neck support. The U&#45;shaped Buckey pillow is filled with buckwheat hulls and is made of washable fabric. A portable travel massager can help relax the tight and tense muscles that come with hours of air or automobile travel.

  Power Monkey &#45; With this ingenious device, you can leave all your other electronic chargers at home. The pocket&#45;sized Power Monkey charges mobile phones, iPods, BlackBerrys, MP3 players, Bluetooth headsets, and PDAs. It includes a 110&#45;240 voltage adaptor plus four adaptor plugs so that it can recharge from 150 countries.&amp;nbsp;

  Travel Phones &#45;Stay connected from wherever you are. The National Geographic Talk Abroad Travel Phone allows you to call anywhere in the world from over 100 countries.

  Earphones &#45; Block out jet engine noise, loud fellow passengers and other travel discomforts with earphones or plugs that that reduce or eliminate noise. Some, like the Comply NR10 Earphones, are made of soft memory foam for added comfort and top sound quality.

      <title>The Best Holiday Getaways</title>

      <guid>http://affiniongroupmedia.com/index.php/ affinion/display_blog/the_best_holiday_getaways1/#When:15:19:00Z</guid>
      <description>NORWALK, Conn., Nov. 25, 2008 &amp;ndash; The holiday season is a perfect opportunity to relax and spend time with family and friends. Actress and author Mariel Hemingway believes you can make this year&#8217;s season extra special with a holiday getaway.
&quot;To get the most out of your holidays, a winter destination may be just what you need,&#8221; she said.&amp;nbsp; &#8220;A change of scenery can often be very refreshing.&#8221;

Leslie Downey, director of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com, said, &#8220;Going somewhere different for the holidays is popular because getaways can eliminate stress and give friends and family a time to focus on having fun together.&#8221;

Here are some of Hemingway&#8217;s favorite places to celebrate the season:

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is a gorgeous, hip city where you can enjoy fashion, food and fun in a sophisticated yet approachable setting. This youthful getaway has plenty to offer during the holidays, including late&#45;night fiestas for the New Year! Along the harbor, you can dine with friends before relaxing at afternoon siesta.&amp;nbsp; Spending the holidays among a culture that embraces joy and celebration is bound to be a vacation to remember.

Sun Valley, Idaho

For an old&#45;fashioned Christmas, there is nothing better. The torchlight parade down Dollar Mountain in the darkness on Christmas Eve is magic. A trail ride to Trail Creek Cabin in a horse&#45;drawn sleigh is unreal. You can watch skaters practice figure&#45;skating at the outdoor rink or watch hockey practice inside. The skiing is not to be matched anywhere in the world. In my opinion, Baldy is the greatest mountain anywhere to ski for variety and length of runs. The maintenance on the hill is like no other I have skied. I used to be a racer, so I know well what it takes to rock a ski hill.

New York City

For Thanksgiving, the Big Apple is the best. The Thanksgiving Day parade is great&#8212;watching those ridiculous balloons careen down Central Park West is so silly and fun, and brings the community together. The still&#45;walkable pre&#45;winter streets and the cold air just say, &#8220;Yay! Winter is coming!&#8221; New York is the most fast&#45;paced town on the planet and you need a respirator to keep up. High heels or running shoes, New York is a walking city that has something going on at every corner every hour of the day. Museums, parks, Westside, Eastside, Tribeca &amp;amp; Soho galleries, cafes, diners, fabulous shops and well, Barneys. It&#8217;s the best in New York, but is a standard there.

Here are some other holiday getaways from Travelers Advantage:

Asheville, North Carolina

If you&#8217;re looking for a calm, cool getaway, Asheville&#8217;s small&#45;town atmosphere offers an inviting mountain city charm.&amp;nbsp; Catch the holiday spirit on a Polar Express train ride through the Great Smoky Mountains, or view the delectable creations of the 16th annual National Gingerbread House Display.&amp;nbsp; Asheville&#8217;s shopping districts are also impressive, with gift gathering an annual event at the Asheville Art Museum Holiday Market.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

This new&#45;age destination is known around the world for many travel attractions, including first&#45;class golf courses and exquisite hotels that will soon include a one&#45;of&#45;a&#45;kind underwater luxury resort.&amp;nbsp; Even the city&#8217;s ski sites are innovative, including the third largest indoor ski slope &#45; with real snow!&amp;nbsp; The New Year is also set to ring in a dome&#45;shaped arctic attraction with a revolving ski slope, an ice bridge and ice slide, and even a snow maze.

San Francisco, California

More than 100 holiday celebrations make this port city an event&#45;filled family destination.&amp;nbsp; Each year, the Children&#8217;s Fairyland park transforms into a winter wonderland that would impress Santa Claus himself!&amp;nbsp; Children will also enjoy the 50&#45;foot Christmas tree in Ghirardelli Square, where you can dine by the bay at South Beach Harbor.

      <title>Go places, see more and use less gas</title>

      <description>Just because prices at the gas pump are high, doesn&#39;t mean you have to cancel your family vacation or cut back on weekend excursions. You can still enjoy traveling to the fullest!
&#34;There are many ways to see and experience a city, countryside or even a completely foreign country without using a lot of fuel,&#34; said Mariel Hemingway.

&#34;Travel is a welcome escape, particularly in these difficult economic times,&#34; said Leslie Downey, director of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com. &#34;By utilizing alternative forms of transportation and fuel&#45;efficient practices, everyone can enjoy getting away.&#34;

Hemingway suggests the following ideas to get the most out of your next getaway for the least gas:

You may consider visiting a place closer to home. Your gas savings alone will greatly increase your entertainment budget. And if you do have to travel a long way, consider traveling by rail, both in the U.S. and abroad. Congress recently passed legislation that will pump $12 billion into improving our rail system, so consider checking the Amtrak schedule to see if you can save money and time by hopping a train.

If you have to drive, most rental companies now offer hybrids, and they remain a sound investment for your own personal vehicle. Either way, by spending a few extra dollars on the front end, you&#39;ll save a lot of money for everyday living or your travel destination.

Once you&#39;ve reached your destination, get out of the car, put on some comfy shoes and walk. I always walk when I travel. It is the best way to see a city in particular and frankly, I always choose to walk most everywhere when I travel. You can see the environment and interact with people in a far easier way. Not to mention you can sense the heart of a city when you slow down enough to experience by foot, or if in a place like Delhi, a rickshaw. Rickshaws are a great way to go into a small area and laugh and enjoy a culture that is so rich and different from our own.

In Europe, and in Paris especially, you can rent bikes on street corners, ride to your destination, park it and be done with it &#45; a genius system! If you drive from home when you travel, take a bike with you and then ride when you get there. Not only will you see far more of your surroundings, but also you&#39;ll be doing wonders for your health.

Some of the best places to travel that don&#39;t require a lot of fuel to see and are very pedestrian friendly are New York, Paris, London, Milan, Rome and Florence. I have walked all the streets in the center of Dublin and even the countryside in Ireland. In the U.S., the fishing villages on the East Coast, Cape Cod and the coastal towns in northern California are all great places to see by foot. And places like San Francisco are great for walking and alternative transportation.

And to make any trip a little more fuel&#45;friendly, here are some additional tips from the experts at Travelers Advantage:

  Slow down, smell the roses &#45; Slowing down on your drive not only allows you to take in more of the scenery, but according to government studies, can also save you up to $0.20 per gallon at the pump. For every five miles per hour you drive over 60, you use valuable gas mileage from your vehicle. So slow down and enjoy the journey.

  Travel with less &#45; No need to take the kitchen sink when you travel. There&#39;s sure to be one at your destination. Using a roof rack for excess luggage can decrease fuel efficiency by up to 5 percent. And every additional 100 pounds of cargo in your trunk can affect your fuel economy by nearly 2 percent.

  Keep your car in good maintenance &#45; The better condition you keep your car in, the better fuel efficiency you&#39;ll have on the road. Keep your car on a regular maintenance program and go in for a tune&#45;up before long road trips. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, having a tune&#45;up could improve your fuel efficiency by 4 percent. Keeping your tires inflated to recommended levels can improve fuel economy by 3 percent. Have a thorough check&#45;up on your car next time you&#39;re due for maintenance &#45; fixing some issues, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your fuel efficiency by up to 40 percent. Combine several percentage points here and there and it really adds up when you pay at the pump.

      <description>NORWALK, Conn., Oct. 23, 2008&#45; Fall is a perfect time of year to attend festivals and fairs.&amp;nbsp; These local heritage celebrations continue to capture travelers&#39; love for local discovery, according to travel columnist Mariel Hemingway.
 &#34;As a child, I went to the Oregon State Fair every summer,&#34; Hemingway says.&amp;nbsp; &#34;The traditions of such events create a unique collaboration between communities and festival&#45;goers.&#34; In fact, nearly half of U.S. adult travelers attended a festival and/or fair during a trip in the past year, according to the Travel Industry Association of America.

  &#34;Cities across the country now host annual fairs and festivals on a grand scale,&#34; said Leslie Downey, director of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com.&amp;nbsp; &#34;Kid&#45;friendly events offer one&#45;of&#45;a&#45;kind art and local culinary fare, educational exhibits fuse eco&#45;demonstrations with new age technology, and cultural get&#45;togethers can be found among tropical gardens.

  Hemingway suggests the following top fall festivals and fairs:

Top 3 Festivals:
Ramble &#45; A Garden Festival, Nov. 8 &#45; 9

  This 68th annual Coral Gables event captures South Florida&#39;s tropical style.&amp;nbsp; The 83&#45;acre Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden includes an extensive collection of rare plant life, with last year&#39;s plant sale offering more than 15,000 plants.

  But Ramble is more than may meet the eye.&amp;nbsp; You can also shop for outdoor goods and original paintings at the Garden &amp;amp; Artist&#8217;s Marketplace, organic produce at the Farmer&#8217;s Greenmarket and decadent desserts at the Garden of Chocolate.

  Others will enjoy a stroll through the outdoor butterfly garden or tea time at Nell&#8217;s Tea Garden.

Washington, D.C. Green Festival, Nov. 8 &#45; 9

  As the nation&#39;s largest green living event, the Green Festival travels to five cities to showcase the latest sustainability trends.&amp;nbsp; The D.C. event will include hands&#45;on workshops, yoga classes, eco&#45;fashion, innovative technology and green&#45;themed films.

  More than 125 speakers and 350 businesses will highlight local environmental initiatives and provide tips on how you can help make your city a healthier place to live.

San Diego Bay Wine &amp;amp; Food Festival, Nov. 12 &#45; 16

  Enter the world of gourmet with champagne toasts, hors d&#39; oeuvres and classes that include &#34;Shrimply Delicious&#34; and &#34;Surf, Turf and Cocktails.&#34; Culinary festivals&#39; popularity continues to rise, with this foodie event hailed as one of the best in the country.&amp;nbsp; This Pacific coast event will feature 160 world&#45;class wineries, cooking classes taught by celebrity chefs and 60 fine dining restaurants.

Top 3 Fairs:
Arizona State Fair, Now through Nov. 2

  Among state fairs, Arizona&#39;s stands atop as a state tradition for 124 years, with more than 1.2 million people in attendance last year.

  Grammy award&#45;winning artists will lead a concert series that ranges from rock to hip&#45;hop.&amp;nbsp; Interactive shows include CSI: LIVE, which grants attendees a peek into the intriguing world of crime scene investigations.

  Bicep&#45;worthy festival goers are welcome to compete in the U.S. Arm Wrestling Championships.&amp;nbsp; Or, you can watch the High Dive Daredevils take a tower&#45;high plunge.

  Uncle Krunkle&#39;s Farm presents a kid&#39;s eye view into a day in the life of a farmer.&amp;nbsp; In this 19,000&#45;square foot exhibit, you can pick oranges, pot take&#45;home plants, and even learn how to milk a cow.

The Coastal Carolina Fair, Oct. 30 &#45; Nov. 8

  Charleston is a coastal city with small&#45;town charm, and home to this fair&#39;s 52nd annual event.&amp;nbsp; Among candy apples and cotton candy will be amusement rides, fireworks displays and concerts at the Lake Front Stage.&amp;nbsp; Contests are abound, and include a Chili Cook&#45;off and Muffin Mania Contest, and a range of creative arts competitions.

  The fair also includes the friendly giants of the &#34;Elephant Encounter&#34; show and the busy insects of the Live Honey Bee Exhibit.

Carlsbad Village Street Faire, Nov. 2

  This seaside California city may be an unlikely host for the nation&#39;s largest one&#45;day street fair, but once you arrive, you&#39;ll know why it gathers more than 100,000 attendees.&amp;nbsp; This free fair holds fast to its village appeal with an open&#45;air market full of street performers, an abundance of food options and a shopper&#39;s delight amid its 900 vendors.

  An adult favorite is the Beer and Wine Garden, while kids enjoy the obstacle courses and rock climbing wall.

      <title>Smart Travelers, Happy Pets</title>

      <description>NORWALK, Conn., Aug. 7, 2008 &amp;ndash; Most people love their pets and want to take them along when traveling. Planning a few simple considerations can help make all the difference.
&#32;&#34;I have six dogs &amp;ndash; two Yorkies, two Maltese, one Belgian Shepherd and one Black Labrador puppy. They are wonderful family members, who love to go anywhere!&#34; says author and actress Mariel Hemingway.

  &#34;So of course, I take them with me all the time when I travel. But I think it&#39;s important to be smart about traveling so that both you and your pet have an awesome trip.&#34;

  Pet travel soared 33 percent last year to a record 20 million, according to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, and 80 percent of them were dogs.&#32; And a full 14 percent &amp;ndash; or 29 million Americans &amp;ndash; travel with their pets, according to a recent Travel Industry Association study.

  &#34;People love their pets, and love being with their pets, and that means hitting the road with them,&#34; said Leslie Downey, director of communication for Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com.&#32; &#34;The surging trend of pet travel has put more bark in luxury vacations, and the airlines and resorts are listening.&#34;

  Here are some other great pet travel tips from the experts at Travelers Advantage:

  Bring familiar items for your pet, such as a favorite blanket, chews, treats and toys.

  It&#39;s a good idea to pack a first aid kit especially for pets (tweezers, gauze, hydrogen).

  Make sure your animal wears a collar with an ID tag, just in case you&#39;re separated.

  Never leave your animal alone in a parked vehicle.

  Keep your animal on a leash as much as possible when you&#39;re outside your vehicle.

  If you&#39;re driving, bring water from home in plastic jugs. This will help prevent stomach upset from different water.

  If you&#39;re flying, book a direct flight.

  If your animal is in the plane&#39;s baggage section, write &#34;LIVE ANIMAL&#34; on the crate, make sure you mark it with arrows for the upright position, and be sure it is closed, but not locked, so personnel can open it in case of emergency.

  Finally, talk to your veterinarian before you leave home. The vet can tell you about any potential problems and how to avoid them.

      <description>NORWALK, Conn., July 24, 2008 &amp;ndash; People think it&#8217;s hard to stay healthy when traveling, but cruises offer many opportunities to eat right and stay fit. For example, top&#45;notch cruise lines have excellent menu selections, so if you order carefully your delicious meals will also be good for you.
&amp;ldquo;If you&#8217;re someone who can&#8217;t handle temptation, you&#8217;ll want to stay away from the cruise buffets and order from the menu,&amp;rdquo; says actress and author Mariel Hemingway. &amp;ldquo;I am always ordering what&#8217;s healthy, so I ask the staff very nicely, and if you are kind and humorous about your diet needs, they are always amenable.&amp;rdquo;

&amp;ldquo;Cruise lines now offer very healthy dining options, including low&#45;carb, low&#45;fat, and no&#45;trans&#45;fat menus,&amp;rdquo; said Leslie Downey, director of Travelers Advantage and TravelersAdvantage.com.&amp;nbsp; &amp;ldquo;Combine that with extensive fitness and spa facilities, and you can stay fit while exploring the most luxurious corners of the world.&amp;rdquo;

Here are a few more healthy cruise tips from the experts at Travelers Advantage:

Talk with your headwaiter the first night of the cruise about special diet needs (i.e., low&#45;sodium, no sugar, no fat). Cruise lines are happy to accommodate your healthy diet.
Take advantage of the on&#45;board gym or fitness centers. Most cruise lines offer full&#45;service fitness centers that offer a range of cardio, weight lifting and aerobic services.
Many cruise activities are great exercise &#45; try everything from ping&#45;pong to golf. And don&amp;rsquo;t forget that dancing is a wonderful workout.
Relax with a spa treatment &#45; After you crunched the calories, relax with a refreshing and rejuvenating spa treatment.&amp;nbsp; Cruise lines have tapped into the spa craze, and offer many indulgences to take you away on the high seas, from seaweed wraps and hot stone treatments to aromatherapy, Japanese silk booster facials and feng&#45;shui, it&#8217;s all yours while relaxing &#45; and exercising &#45; on your luxurious oceanic excursion.
