When you combine natural beauty with charming communities, it usually produces some fascinating results.

These are some of the nicest hillside towns you’ll find anywhere on the globe.

1. Volterra, Italy

This pretty town in Tuscany has historical roots that stretch all the way back to the Roman Age. It’s got a fabulous mixture of the old and new and it has even featured recently in the Twilight Saga books. It was supposed to be the hometown of the Volturi vampires in the books. There’s nothing scary about Volterra though, just a lot of natural beauty in the town and the surrounding area.

2. Andalucia, Spain

This famous Spanish region is an excellent place to explore by road. It’s home to some of the nicest hill towns you’ll see anywhere in the world. Some of the most well known towns are Nerja, Zahara, and Grazalema. The link between these communities is known as the Route of the White Hill Towns. It gets its name due to towns’ white buildings. It’s a great area to enjoy the day-to-day life of the local Spanish people.

Prague is generally regarded to be the most well known city in the Czech Republic, but the nation is filled with enchanting locations. Cesky Krumlov is certainly one of these.

The beautiful town features an old town that’s overflowing with charming shops and cobbled lanes.

But it the most famous attraction here is the awe-inspiring castle. It’s known by the tourists, but thankfully isn’t overrun by them.

The unspoiled town has the Vltava River running through its veins and the castle dominates the scenery. With a population of just 15,000 people, it sits about four hours to the south of Prague and is basically a fairy-tale town.

It surrounded by magnificent hills in the southern region of the nation and the surrounding countryside is quite pastoral countryside.

It’s always been a popular site over the years and that’s why Slavic, Celtic, and German tribes settled here a few centuries ago. The town was one of the most glamorous in all of Europe during the 16th century as aristocrats from all over the continent were attracted to it.

The castle belonged to the Rozmberk family, which controlled the town from it for 300 years up until around 1600. You can take an hour-long escorted tour into the castle to get a close up look at the Bohemian lifestyle the family used to live.

The castle features a round tower which was manned by guards in the medieval days to make sure the citizens had no problems while crossing the river. There is also a bear pit which houses a European brown bear family and a huge colorful garden.

One of the most popular areas of the castle is the Baroque theatre. This is where the Rozmberk family would go to be entertained by local performers. The tour takes you under the stage where you can see the old-fashioned contraptions which were used to change scenery. The Baroque theater in Cesky Krumlov is just one of two in Europe that has been well preserved, with the other being in Stockholm, Sweden.

If you head over the river from the castle, you’ll come to the beautiful Old Town district. This is filled with curved Gothic buildings and wonderful winding streets. The main square can be found in the middle of the Old Town and this is surrounded by Baroque and Renaissance homes from the 12th century. One of the most popular spots for children is the nearby Puppet Museum where youngsters can check out their favorite fairy tale creations.

The dreamy Vltava River is an ideal spot for canoeing as it takes you past Bohemian villages and forests as well as riverside pubs and cafes where you can stop for some splendid local refreshments and dishes. There’s also a fine cycling path which follows the winding river. When the sun goes to sleep for the night, the residents of Cesky Krumlov don’t join it. You’ll find most of them are out having a great time drinking and dining and simply enjoying themselves.

There are several popular summer festivals each year with the Celebration of the Rose, which takes place in June, being one of the biggest. Local residents take the opportunity to celebrate and honor their medieval roots at this event and it’s one huge party. The town also hosts world-class music festivals on a regular basis.

You can visit Cesky Krumlov as a day trip if you’re staying in Prague, but it really deserves to have much more attention afforded it than just a few hours. If possible, spend at least one night there as it’s very easy to see why this splendid town is the second-most visited community in the Czech Republic.

These are some of the destinations you’ll find with the strangest names.

1. Disappointment, Kentucky, USA

You could be disappointed if you wind up in Disappointment, Kentucky. It’s not actually a town, but more of an area that’s surrounded by the beautiful forested hills of southern Kentucky. There’s not really much to explore, in Disappointment Knox County, and perhaps that’s how it got its name.

2. Why, Arizona, USA

Why is a tiny, rural Arizona community with another strange name. The community sits where state highways 86 and 86 meet with each other at a Y-shaped intersection.

The village founders then decided to call the place Why. They couldn’t just call it Y, since the law in Arizona states that all communities must have a minimum of three letters in their names.

It’s a charming little spot in Pima county, not far from the Mexican border. The dry desert scenery is great and the Organ Pipe National Monument, which is a UNESCO biosphere region, is nearby.

3. Pity Me, Durham, England

The small and lovely town of Pity Me is located in England’s County Durham, close to the magnificent city of Durham, which features a work-famous university, castle, and Norman cathedral. In fact, Harry potter fans may know the cathedral as Hogwarts. Nobody’s exactly sure how the town got its name. However, some feel it was translated from the French ‘petit mer.’ Others think it was named after a boggy wasteland known as Pithead.

4. No Name, Colorado, USA

There’s been a horse with no name and a man with no name, now we have a town named No Name. The name might have been joke at the time, but nobody’s sure. Rumors have it that the state’s transportation department placed a sign on Interstate 70 to let people know about a small unnamed village. One of the residents wrote No Name on top of the exit sign and the name just happened to stick, even though the local government tried to change it. .

5. Hell, Michigan, USA

I’m sure this isn’t the only Hell in the world, but it might be the most famous in the USA. It’s located in Michigan’s Livingston County and the small, charming town isn’t shy about cashing in on its odd name. Again, nobody knows for sure how the town got its name, but you’ll find plenty of souvenirs, merchandise, and t-shirts for sale here to celebrate it.

6. Failsworth, Oldham, Manchester, England

This town is located in Oldham, which lies in the Greater Manchester area of England. It’s been the hometown of several famous people, such as politicians, a supermodel, and athletes. It was an important location during the Industrial Revolution, and you can still see the fabulous Victorian architecture there today.

7. Embarrass, Minnesota, USA

This Minnesota Township lies in St. Louis County. The name comes from the French word embarrass, which actually means to hinder with difficulties or obstacles. Many years ago French fur traders found it quite hard to navigate the local landscape by canoe and decided to name the local river Embarrass and the river’s name was soon incorporated into the township.

8. Boring, Oregon, USA

This small locality lies just outside of the city of Portland. However, the story of its name is actually pretty boring since it was named after a resident named W.H Boring. The area is involved in the timber industry. One of the best sites is the Boring Lava Field, which is an ancient volcanic zone.

There are a lot of people who have already heard about timeshare rental. If you are also interested in the matter you should know that it is always better to own than to rent. However there are some people who aren’t ready to make a commitment of that kind, and so renting is the right solution for them.

Renting

The first thing you have to make sure of if you have an estate that you can rent. In some cases this is forbidden by the contract. Also look for the associated obligations and fees.

Price

The second step that you have to take is to set the price. It is also good to learn about the competition. Find information about what the other rentals have to offer and also their price. It is better to avoid setting the price without any previous information. This way you can be sure that your price is competitive.

Advertising

The sooner you start to advertise, the better. Those who rent usually make plans in advance. The best thing you could do is to start the advertising about 3 months before the timeshare becomes available. In the same time you will have better results if you start advertising 6-12 months in advance.

No expensive advertisement

You don’t have to break the bank with the advertisement. There are many different options for this purpose that are relatively cheap. The first thing you should try to is post to free services. Start at craigslist.org. Also list the rental on ebay.com and be really careful about the advertising that you pay for. Naturally the offline methods could also work, such as word of mouth.

If you’re finding that you’re not attracting enough interest on your own, look for highly trusted timeshare resale and rental advertising companies that can help you like SellMyTimeshareNOW.com.

Don’t get desperate

If you do get desperate you could make some mistakes with the renters that you accept. You don’t need 15 students in a 3 bedroom unit. You will end up having more problems than you imagined. Make sure that the property isn’t at the risk of damages.

Weeks instead of days

You should rent the timeshare for weeks instead of days. It may be tempting to offer the place for a couple of days, but it isn’t really worth it. This is because you can deal with one single renter easier than with several different renters.

If this sounds like a lot to worry about each year and you don’t feel like keeping up with it, you can also sell your timeshare to someone else to enjoy it. Your vacation should always be fun and enjoyable so don’t hold on to something that’s more work than it’s worth.

When May and June arrive some people feel it’s time to do some traveling before the peak summer season arrives and the crowds get thicker.

Prices are typically still low in these months and there are hundreds of great places to visit. These are 6 of the most fun trips at this time of the year.

1. Istanbul, Turkey

There’s plenty to see and do in Turkey’s largest city no matter how old or adventurous you are. It’s an ideal location for activities, relaxation, and exploring the ancient history, making it quite an educational place. In fact, it’s regarded as one of the world’s best cities for children to visit.

If you visit the Miniaturk attraction, you’ll be able to see more than 100 small models of famous buildings and sites, including the Sultanahmet Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the Dolmabahçe Palace. If you head to the beautiful Mediterranean coast, you can check out Santa Claus’s original home in Demre. In addition, the Istanbul Toy Museum features thousands of antique toys.

2. Speyside, Scotland

The lovely community of Speyside is a fantastic area to visit, especially for whiskey lovers. There are several famous functioning distilleries here including the Glenliviet and Glenfiddich operations. It’s basically a whiskey festival and you’ll be able to visit many of the old distilleries and take tours of them. Of course, you’ll also be able to sample them as well as some of the great local food dishes.

3. Cocullo, Italy

This charming town is famous for its Festa Dei Serpari snake festival which takes place each May. The festival is in honor of St. Dominick, the town’s patron saint. St. Dominick was famous for healing people, especially from sicknesses and snakebites. The celebration features a colorful procession of snake catchers who travel through the streets while they’re draped in snakes. When the festival ends, the snakes are all released in the surrounding countryside.

4. Barcelona, Spain

This fantastic city is great to visit no matter the time of the year. However, it’s especially pleasing in the warm June sun. You can visit the Montserrat mountain ranges, the lovely sandy beaches, and everything in between them. Barcelona was originally a Roman city and it’s now known as one of the world’s leading centers for culture, art, shopping, entertainment, scenery, and cosmopolitan dining.

It’s overflowing with history and the architecture’s simply fabulous. If you have children with you, head over to Park Guell, which features a mosaic-tiled beach area and gingerbread houses.

5. Machu Picchu, Peru

The best months to visit this famous Incan city are May and June. It’s milder then and quite a bit drier. It’s not too crowded, as it is not the peak season. The temperature varies depending on your altitude and the days could be hot while the night may be cool. There’s a 2-day and a 4-day Inca Trail hike that you can take from Cuzco as well as a 5-mile hike that starts in Aguas Calientes.

6. Nova Scotia, Canada

This wonderful eastern province is home to some of the world’s best lobster fishing areas. The lobster season kicks off on the north shore of Cape Breton in May. You’ll be able to witness the blessing of the local fishing boats and enjoy lobster dinners all across the province. Make sure you visit the province’s largest city, Halifax, which is one of the best on the globe.

You might think your swimwear and sunglasses are the only holiday essentials you need. Whilst they are no doubt essential, maybe think a little past them. You want to enjoy your holiday. After all it’s a little time away from your normal life. From the stresses and strains of work. A chance to just relax in the sun. But, to really get the most out of it you need to look after yourself. There’s nothing worse than feeling ill on holiday.

Take a look at our holiday health essentials and make sure you pack them.

Sunburn

Being careful in the sun is a must. Make sure you pack a high factor sun cream for the first few days. Remember to ease yourself in to time in the sun. Hats are important as is a little time in the shade. If you have kids with you choose cream with a factor of at least SPF30 – 40.

If you find yourself suffering from sunburn use an aloe vera gel to soothe your skin.

Insect bites

Most of us suffer from insect bites whilst on holiday. The bites can often get red, sore and itchy. Make sure you pack an insect repellent with you and some cream to treat it in case you do get bitten.

Colds and flu

It sounds weird doesn’t it? Getting a cold on holiday. It’s always something we associate with cold weather, but in reality colds occur whenever exposed to germs. Often on holiday as we start to unwind and relax, it can creep up on you. Illness whilst abroad can be awful, so make sure you pack sufficient nasal decongestant and paracetamol.

Stomach upsets

This is the biggest problem for holidaymakers, with a high percentage of people suffering from stomach troubles when abroad. For the kids, make sure you have rehydration powders on hand, as well as some over the counter medicines for the adults.

Inoculations

It all depends on where you go, but if you’re heading a little further afield on holiday you may need a variety of inoculations. The best way to find out what you need (if any) is to pay a visit to the nurse at your GP surgery. They can advise you depending upon your travel plans and then provide you with a course of inoculations if need be.

While you’re not exactly traveling in the Twilight Zone, these are some of the oddest sites and sights that you may see on our wondrous planet.

1. New Zealand: The Moeraki Boulders

There are actually several odd sites in New Zealand, but the oddest is on the east side of the South Island near a small fishing village. When you reach Koekohe Beach, you’ll find that an endless pounding of waves are creating the Moeraki Boulders.

There are more than 50 of these huge round boulders that have reached the shore. They were formed over the past 4 million years with the biggest one being about 7 feet in diameter and 7 tons in weight.

2. Iceland: The Geothermal Regions

In Iceland, just under and sometimes over top of the land’s surface, there are geothermal forces which create some unique landscapes. You’ll find colorful sulfur ponds, steam vents, and boiling in these areas, all surrounded by magnificent volcanoes.

If you head to the northeastern part of the nation, near Lake Myvatn, you’ll get a good look at these steaming and boiling holes in the ground. In the southern part of Iceland, you’ll find several active geysers as well as the Blue Lagoon springs.

3. Turkey: Pamukkale

In Turkish, Pamukkale translates into cotton castle. It’s a white chalky creation that’s looks like snow, but it’s actually a hot spring area which has been formed by underground volcanic activity. It’s a popular World Heritage Site and is protected by the government so the area can return to a natural state. You can still enter the pools and enjoy the warm water.

4. Yemen: Socotra Island

Socotra is actually a small archipelago that sits in the Indian Ocean just off coast of Yemen. It’s quite a remote area and you can access the main island by plane or boat. Because of its location, the island is home to many unique plants. In fact, about a third of them can only be found on this island and nowhere ales on the globe.

It’s a UNESCO world natural heritage site and the most unique species is the Dragon Blood Tree. It features upturned branches that hold up an umbrella-shaped, green crown. You’ll also find the unique Cucumber Tree here.

5. California, USA: Racetrack Playa

This is a dry lake that sits next to the famous Death Valley. The intense heat dries and cracks the lakebed during the dry season. What you’ll notice here are the boulders that you’ll find. There are tracks along the dusty lakebed which indicates that the boulders have moved across the dry landscape even though some of them weigh as much as 700 lbs.

The boulders are known as sailing stones, but nobody’s witnessed one moving. It’s believed that when rain falls and softens the lakebed, the rocks are pushed by the area’s high winds. Others believe when the lakebed freezes the rocks slide across it from the winds.

Many people of all ages love the drama and thrills associated with rollercoaster rides. If you’re one of them and are looking for some of the best rides you can start with these 10.

1. New England, Massachusetts, USA – Bizarro, Six Flags

The Bizarro can be found at Six Flags in New England. This ride hits speeds of over 75 miles per hour and also features a good amount of free-falling time.

As a bonus, you’ll get some amazing views of the local countryside and the Connecticut River while enjoying the ride. Overall, the Bizarro is 208 feet in height with a 221-foot fall since it actually goes below ground surface into an underground tunnel.

2. New Jersey, USA – Kingda Ka, Six Flags Great Adventure

The Kingda Ka is known as the one of the world’s fastest and tallest rollercoasters. The ride starts out with a launch that reaches a speed of close to 130 miles per hour and reaches 456 feet up into the air. To make the ride more dramatic and thrilling is its 90-degree fall.

3. Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Formula Rossa, Ferrari World

This fantastic ride can reach 100 miles per hour in just a couple of seconds and can reach a speed of close to 150 miles per hour, making it the fastest roller coaster in the world as of 2012. It climbs a height of 171 feet while it shoots from inside to outside of the theme park.

4. Alton Towers, England – The Nemesis

The Nemesis rollercoaster is the first inverted one in all of Europe. The seats resemble a ski lift and the ride twists and loops like crazy. It became famous back in 2004 when 32 naked people rode it to set an odd world record.

5. Pembrokeshire, Wales – Megafobia, Oakwood Coaster Country

This British wooden rollercoaster known as Megafobia has a twisted type of layout. It takes about two minutes to complete the ride which is 85 feet in height and just over 2,950 feet in length. It’s definitely one of Britain’s most popular rides.

6. Salou, Spain – Furius Baco, PortAventura

This rollercoaster is quite unique as the seats of the ride are actually on both sides of the track. This means you’re quite exposed during the ride and it definitely adds to the thrill. The ride averages approximately 85 miles per hour and is a Spanish favorite.

7. Nagashima, Japan –The Steel Dragon 2000, Nagashima Spa Land

Japan’s famous Steel Dragon 2000 reaches a speed of up to 95 miles per hour on a lift hill. It reaches a height of 318 feet up into the air and is 8,133 feet in length. It takes four minutes to complete the ride, making it one of the world’s longest rollercoaster trips.

8. Queensland, Australia – The Tower of Terror

This aptly named rollercoaster launches itself straight up in the air. Its track is designed in an L shape and it runs on high-tech synchronous motors. These allow it to reach a free-floating position before it goes backwards and retraces the route. The Tower of Terror can also hit a speed of 100 mile per hour.

9. Yamanashi, Japan – Eejanaika, Fuji-Q Highland Park

This rollercoaster features seats that can actually turn 360 degrees backwards and forwards while in a controlled spin. It’s the second rollercoaster of its type. Eejanaika can reach a speed of 78 miles per hour and reaches a height of 249 feet.

10. Toronto, Ontario, Canada – The Behemoth, Wonderland Park

This rollercoaster cost a staggering $26 million to build. It’s Canada’s fastest and tallest rollercoaster. It begins with an 85-degree climb and can hit a speed of 80 miles per hour in just under four seconds. The behemoth features eight different drops as well as double-banked horizontal loops.
