Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting some of our favorite short story Audiobooks. Let us know if there are any books you want us to review.

The first short story is 2 B R 0 2 B by Kurt Vonnegut. It is only 22 minutes, but packs quite a bit in. It is an interesting tale that follows the decision process of a man, Edward K. Wehling, Jr., whose wife is about to give birth to triplets. The twist is that aging has been cured, individuals have indefinite life spans, and Edward has to find 3 people that are willing to die in order to bring his 3 children into the world. Listen to hear how far a father will go for his soon to be born children.

Happy Listening.

Recently, I traveled with my iPad. I have to say, I loved it. A long wait at the airport has never flown so quickly. My husband and I love to play board games, so it was great to be able to play some of our favorites on the go. We played Carcassone, Battleship, The Game of Life, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Spit while we were traveling.

We also had fun using Google Earth to see a bird’s eye view of where we were.

I read several books, and even downloaded another while I was traveling. Normally 3-4 books would have taken up quite a bit of luggage space, but I had them all in my iPad instead this trip. I used both iBooks, and Kindle, and they were both great.

I brought a few magazines from home, and added some recipes I wanted to try to My Recipe Book while traveling, and now they’re waiting in my queue for the next time I want to try a new recipe.

I also edited some photos from the trip using Filterstorm.

What do you use when you travel with your iPad or iPhone?

I don’t know how you can resist falling in love with Anne after listening to Anne of Green Gables. She says so many funny and wonderful things. Here are a few of my favorites:

Anne with an “e”, don’t you think it sounds so romantic?

Isn’t it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive–it’s such an interesting world. It wouldn’t be half so interesting if we know all about everything, would it? There’d be no scope for imagination then, would there?

Marilla, isn’t it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?

Red hair, freckled nose, precocious wit, and a dreamer, this is Anne Shirley, a beloved heroine for girls for over a century. Anne of Green Gables is the story of an orphaned girl in Nova Scotia near the turn of the 20th century. Her childhood has a bleak beginning, being passed from one bad foster home to another and then back to various orphanages, but Anne Shirley never gives up hope. Almost always the optimist and always the dreamer, Anne eventually gets the opportunity she’s been longing for- adoption by an older brother and sister living on a farm on the beautiful Prince Edward Island. Dazzled by this glimpse of joy, Anne sets all her hopes on being Anne of Green Gables for the rest of her life, but there is a mistake! Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert were planning to adopt a boy and someone has sent them a girl by mistake! Or was it?
As Anne works her way into Matthew and Marilla’s hearts, she’ll also work her way into yours. No beauty escapes her notice, no friendship is left undiscovered and if there is a mishap to be had, Anne will find it. Traveling Classics is pleased to bring you this edited edition of the first of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables series, read in its entirety by the talented Karen Savage.
