Bangalore also known as Bengaluru is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Bangalore is nicknamed the Garden City and was once called a pensioner's paradise. Located on the Deccan Plateau in the south eastern part of Karnataka, Bangalore is India's third most populous cityand fifth-most populous urban agglomeration.

Few Cities in the World have the power to attract and motivate a casual visitor to move there permanently. Bangalore is one of those rare cities which make people who are new to the City to call themselves proud Bangaloreans.

Bangalore, a real cool place on Planet Earth is the capital of Karnataka, in the southern part of India. It is indeed cool - the people, the place and of course the weather.

The headquarters of several public sector undertakings such as Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) are located in Bangalore. In June 1972 the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established under the Department of Space and headquartered in the city. Bangalore's IT industry is divided into three mainclusters — Software Technology Parks of India, International Tech Park, Bangalore and Electronics City. UB City, the headquarters of the United Breweries Group, is a high-end commercial zone. Infosys and Wipro, India's second and third largest software companies are headquartered in Bangalore, as are many of the global SEI-CMM Level 5 Companies.

Bangalore is unique in many ways. It has the most pleasant weather throughout the year which got itself the name "Pensioner's Paradise". It is the only cosmopolitan and multilingual city after Delhi in the country which has welcomed everyone who wanted to make their home in the city and this speaks of the hospitable nature of the Bangaloreans. Bangalore which was only a city known within India a couple of decades ago has now found its place in the World Map because of the export of best quality software and software professionals to the entire world. Bangalore is now on everybody's tour itinerary while visiting India and i have made a sincere attempt to provide all the necessary information both to tourists and residents of Bangalore. Vidhana Soudha: The legislative House of Karnataka, this granite building was built by Sri K. Hanumanthaiya, Chief Minister of the then Mysore state 1951 to 1956. The then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharalal Nehru laid the foundation on 13th July 1951. It was built at an expenditure of Rs 18.4 million. Marvel of neo-dravidian architecture and one of the most imposing building not only in Bangalore but in India.

Vikasa Soudha: This ultra modern construction, adjacent to majestic Vidhana Soudha built in the same classic style, is supposed to come fitted with the latest gizmos to help govern the state. It was inaugurated in February 2005.

Bangalore Palace: Bangalore palace was constructed by the Maharajahs of Mysore. For many years the building was neglected as a tourist attraction, but is now open to the public. This is a rundown building with paint peeling on the interior and generally a tourist trap to be avoided. The fee is Rs. 100/200 Indian/Foreigner and 500 to take photos even of the exterior. This includes a guide to point out things like the mounted elephant head, though no mention is made of the numerous nude paintings.

Tipu Sultan's Palace: This palace which dates from about 1790, is the summer retreat for Tipu sultan. The two story structure is made mostly out of wood with finely embellished balconies, pillars and arches.

The Bull Temple: Located in Basavanagudi, this temple is a typical Dravidian style temple & is famous for its mammoth bull statue that was carved from a single boulder. Legend has it that the temple was built to appease a marauding bull that stole local crops, and that the offering was effective with the bull subsequently leaving the area.

The Maha Bodhi Society Temple: This temple is a relatively new structure, with the main shrine built as a replica of the historic stupa at Bodh Gaya. The temple grounds are very peaceful, and visitors are welcome to stroll around. In addition, the temple houses an excellent library of books on Buddhism, many of which are in English.

ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple: Hare Krishna Hill, Chord Road, This temple built on a hillock in Rajajinagar atop scenic surroundings, is a perfect blend of modern technology and spiritual harmony. The huge cultural complex was built to promote vedic culture and spiritual learning, and abounds with shops selling devotional items and souvenirs.

Shiva Temple (Shiv Mandir), Old Airport Road: This temple has a massive monolith of Lord Shiva, located in the middle of an artificial pool. There is a cave-like walkthrough behind the statue. It is extremely crowded on the festival of Maha Shivaratri.

Cubbon Park: A 300 acre green lung in the center of the city. Sitting in the shade of one its many magnificent trees and watching towering bamboo sway in the breeze, it is hard to imagine that you are in the heart of a metropolis of over 8.8 million people and one of the world's most dynamic and fastest growing cities. Avoid the secluded areas. There is also a toy train offering children's rides.

The Lal Bagh: A meticulously cared for garden located on the southern part of the city. Throughout its 240 acre, there are lotus ponds, fountains, glass houses and stone formations that date back over 3.0 billion years. Described as the most romantic garden in India, it was laid during the 18th century by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.

Bannerghatta National Park: This park is on the southern fringe of the city. This 100 sq.km national park consists mostly of dense forest and scrub land, and is home to wild animals like bison, leopard, wild boar as well as being an important corridor for elephants migrating between the eastern and western ghats.

Wonder La Amusement park: A new attraction in Bangalore. It is India's biggest amusement and water park which belongs to V-Guard firm. This park boasts of several rides (both ground & water). This is one of the best spots to visit in Bangalore. It is in the outskirts of the city off Mysore Road. This Park is very expensive so you should have enough money to enjoy.

Hesaraghatta Lake: This lake is 29 km from the city centre. It is a delightful artificial lake spread over 1,000 acre and provides facilities for sailing. A livestock breeding and poultry center have been established as a part od a Indo-Danish project.

Pune formerly called Poona, also known as Punya-Nagari, is the eighth largest metropolis in India, the second largest in the state of Maharashtra, after Mumbai and the largest city in the Western Ghats. Once the center of power of the Maratha Empire, situated 560 metres above sea level on the Deccan plateau at the confluence of the Mula and Mutha rivers Pune is the administrative capital of Pune district.

Pune is known to have existed as a town since 937. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire, lived in Pune as a young boy, and later oversaw significant growth and development of the town during his reign. In 1730, Pune became an important political centre as the seat of the Peshwa, the prime minister of the Chhatrapati of Satara. After the town was annexed to British India in 1817, it served as a cantonment town and as the "monsoon capital" of the Bombay Presidency until the independence of India.

Today, Pune is known for its educational facilities and relative prosperity. Pune is a majority Hindu city and one can see temples all over the city. Pune is the cultural center of Maharashtra, and the notional seat of the Marathi language. Pune has well-established manufacturing, information technology and automotive companies setting up factories in Pune district. Pune also has made its mark the educational epicenter of the country, winning itself the sobriquet, 'The Oxford of the East'.

Agakhan Palace
The Agakhan Palace is one of the most happening tourist attractions in Pune. This palace is famous due to the fact that the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi along with his wife Karturba Gandhi and Mahadeobhai Desai were imprisoned here in the year 1942, while participating in the "Quit India Movement". Do not forget to visit the marble memorials of Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadeobahi Desai who died here.

Shaniwar Wada
Shaniwar Wada Palace is another major attraction of Pune. It was built by Balaji Rao (the grandfather of the last Peshwa) in 1736. Today, only the massive outer wall of the Palace is left as the rest of it was burnt down in 1827.

Pataleshwar Cave Temple
This temple is a quite and an elegant temple that takes you to the world of spirituality. At the entrance of this small underground temple, stands a stone gazebo (Nandi mapandapam). This adds to the charm of this exquisite temple. Definitely, a must visit.

Raja Denkar Kelkar Museum
This museum is a passionate collection of Dr. D.G.Kelkar. The museum has a huge collection of unique and peculiar exhibits. The Raja Denkar Kelkar museum displays the diversity of India's culture in a subtle and delightful way. The elephant-shaped foot scrubber, a brass scorpion that reveals a secret lock and eight images of Lord Ganesha carved on a bean make it a place to see in Pune.

Kasturba Samadhi
Kasturba Samadhi is located near the Aga Khan Palace. It has now been turned into Gandhi National Museum. The samadhi contains the ashes of Kasturba.

Film and Television Institute of India
The famous and reputed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is situated in the Law College Street of Pune. It is one of the most prominent film schools in Asia. The institute has produced many famed actors, directors, and technicians for the Hindi Film Industry. This institute is a worth visiting place in Pune.

Osho Commune International
This is an ashram of Osho, also known as Rajnish. It is located in Koregaon Park and is spread over an lush green area of 24-acre. It is described as the "spiritual Disneyland for disaffected First World yuppies" by the Wall Street Journal. Here you may participate in a number of programs with special emphasis on new-age meditation. Do not miss visiting this place.

Sinhagad
Sinhagad is also known as the Lion Fort and is situated around 25 kilometers southwest of Pune on top of a steep hill. This fort is now almost in a finished condition. It was in the year 1670, that Tanaji Malusre, a general of Shivaji climbed the steep hill in dark with his men and defeated the forces of Bijapur. This is also the place where Mahatma Gandhi met another stalwart of Indian freedom struggle, Bal Gangadhar Tilak in 1915 for the first time. Don't forget to visit this excursion destination.

Raigad
Raigad is situated at a distance of around 126 kilometers from Pune. Shivaji was crowned at Raigad in 1648 and he also died here in 1680. This fort is located on an isolated hilltop, from where you can get a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats.

Bhimashankar
Bhimashankar is a small travel excursion destination situated around 95 kilometers from Pune. It is rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage with deep forests, temples, rivers and many historical structures. But this place is particularly famous for the temple of Lord Shiva, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The river Bhim originates from this place. This place is also ideal for trekking, nature watching, and bird watching. So, don't miss visiting this lovely place.

A Better Picture of Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010

The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be the nineteenth Commonwealth Games. The Games are scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India between 3 Oct and 14 Oct 2010. The games will be the largest multi-sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium, in Delhi. It will also be the first time the Commonwealth Games is held in India and the second time the event has been held in Asia after 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It is one of three World Heritage Sites in Agra. Completed in 1653, the Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal king Shāh Jahan as the final resting place for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. This perfectly symmetrical monument took 22 years (1630–1652) of hard labour and 20,000 workers, masons and jewellers to build and is set amidst landscaped gardens. Agra Fort: Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Agra, India. The fort is also known as Lal Qila, Fort Rouge and Red Fort of Agra. It is about 2.5 km northwest of its more famous sister monument, the Taj Mahal and it can be more accurately described as a walled city. The great Mugals, Humayun, Akbar, Jehangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb lived here, and the country was governed from here. It contained the largest state treasury and mint. It was visited by foreign ambassadors, travelers and dignitaries.

Fatehpur Sikri: Fatehpur Sikri is a city and a municipal board in Agra district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The historical city was constructed by Mughal emperor Akbar beginning in 1570 and served as the capital of his empire from 1571 until 1585. Though the court took 15 years to build, it was abandoned after only 14 years because the water supply was unable to sustain the growing population. The surviving palace and mosque are a tourist attraction and one of the three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Agra.

Itmad-ud-Daula's Tomb: Itmad-ud-Daula's Tomb is a Mughal mausoleum in the city of Agra, india. Often described as 'jewel box', sometimes called the 'Baby Taj', the tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah is often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal. Along with the main building, the structure consists of numerous outbuildings and gardens. The tomb, built between 1622 and 1628 represents a transition between the first phase of monumental Mughal architecture - primarily built from red sandstone with marble decorations, as in Humayun's Tomb in Delhi and Akbar's tomb in Sikandra - to its second phase, based on white marble and pietra dura inlay, most elegantly realized in the Tāj Mahal.

Akbar’s Tomb: A short distance from Agra, lies the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, in Sikandra. Akbar who ruled over the Mughal Empire from 1556 to 1605, began building his mausoleum in the spartan style of Timurid architecture. The mausoleum was completed by his son, the next Mughal Emperor, Jahangir, who added more decorative elements to the design of Akbar's tomb.

Mankameshwar Temple: Mankameshwar Mandir in Agra is devoted to Lord Shiva. The temple is situated at Rawatpara, near Agra Fort Railway Station. It is one of the ancient temples devoted to Lord Shiva.It is said that the shivlinga covered by the silver metal was founded by lord shiva himself during Dwapara era, when krishna was born in Mathura. For child krishna darshan shiva arrived from mount kailash and rested here. It is one of the most holy places for hindus in Agra.

Guru Ka Tal: Guru ka Tal is a historical Sikh pilgrimage place dedicated to the memory of ninth Guru Sri Guru Tegh Bahudar Ji. Guru ka Tal is near Sikandra in Agra. The Gurudwara was built over the place where the Guru Tegh Bahadur laid down his arms to offer arrest to Aurangazeb, the Mughal Emperor. Several devotees gather every year to pay homage to the great Sikh guru in this Gurudwara. Earlier it was a Tal (reservoir) in the area near Sikandra. It was built in 1610 AD to collect and conserve rainwater in Agra during Jehangir reign. The water of the reservoir was used for irrigation purposes during the dry season. The reservoir was ornamented with stone carvings.

Mumbai (Bombay) is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It’s the financial capital of India. It is the most populous city in India, and the most populous city in the world, with a population of approximately 14 million. Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India, generating 5% of India's GDP, accounting for 25% of industrial output, 70% of maritime trade in India and 70% of capital transactions to India's economy. Mumbai is home to important financial institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India, the National Stock Exchange of India, the Bombay Stock Exchange and the corporate headquarters of many Indian and multinational corporations. The city also houses India's Hindi film and television industry, known as Bollywood. Mumbai's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, attract migrants from all over India & neighboring countries.

There are many attracting places which you should visit while traveling to India.

Gateway of India: Build for the visit of King George V and Queen Mary when he visited India in 1911. It is an imposing structure, one of the city’s most prominent landmarks and a must visit place. It has been featured in many movies which have been shot in the city and is also a rallying point for public processions and peaceful demonstrations. Candle light vigils are common for popular causes. You can also take a ferry ride from here to the Elephanta Caves; buy the tickets at the gateway office beforehand. It’s cheaper too.

Juhu Beach: This is one of the most popular beaches in the north of Mumbai, with a perpetual fun-filled amazing environment every evening. Families visit the beach and ride the horses, small Ferris wheels that are scattered along the beach. The beach is lined with private homes, and quite a few bungalows of famous Bollywood actors - early morning is a good time to see them jogging or exercising on the beach.

Jain Temple: These temples were built in 1904. They are located on the Ridge Road at Walkeshwar in Malabar hill region and are a major landmark besides being a place of worship for the Jain Community. The entrance is flanked by two stone elephants and the temple is set on two floors. The dome on the upper level is painted with signs of the Zodiac while images of various gods and saints are housed on the lower level.

Bhau Daji Lad Museum: This museum was previously known as the Victoria and Albert Museum it is the oldest museum in the city of Mumbai. Located near Byculla Station it has been under renovation by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Mumbai. The museum consists of a square, single-storied building housing a library with rare maps and several old manuscripts.

Chowpatty Beach: Another stretch of beach in the south of Mumbai is Chowpatty. Very close to the actual commercial hub of office buildings in the city, if you come down to the beach from Marine Lines at night you will also see the 'Queen’s Necklace, a circle of street lights that looks like a necklace. The beach is famous for its 'Pau Bhaji', essentially buns toasted with butter served with a blend of vegetables.

Elephanta Caves: A complex of Shiva temple caves on an island about an hour from the mainland of Mumbai and declared a World Heritage site in 1987. Elephanta Island has a sizable monkey population and it is best not to carry any food in a conspicuous manner to avoid their attention. The temples are said to date back to the 7th century but the statues were damaged by the Portuguese.

Kanheri Caves: These Buddhist caves are located in the middle of Mumbai’s Sanjay Gandhi National Park located north of Borivili. They do not have the artistic overtures of the Elephanta cave temples and are rather Spartan in comparison. Dating back to the first century and with signs of inhabitation till the ninth century, these caves include a well-preserved dagoba and an assembly hall flanked with huge stone pillars.

Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus: Built by the British, this railway terminus was designed to be an exact replica of the Victoria Terminus in London. In fact it was also called the Victoria Terminus till about a decade ago when it was rechristened after Shivaji Maharaj, a famous Maratha warrior king. It is still referred to as 'VT' in common parlance, though 'CST' is catching up with it.

Haji Ali: The imposing Haji Ali is both a mosque and tomb. It was built in 1431 by wealthy Muslim merchant and saint Haji Ali, who was inspired to change the course of his life after going to Mecca. It also contains his body. Situated in the middle of the ocean, Haji Ali is only accessible during low tide from a narrow, 500 yard long walkway. On Thursdays and Fridays tens of thousands of pilgrims flock there to receive blessings from the dead saint. If find you need to pass some time until the tide lowers enough, there's a shopping center on the opposite side of the road.

Bollywood: Mumbai is the center of India's booming "Bollywood" film industry. The architecturally resplendent Eros Cinema, adjacent to the Churchgate railway station, is a great place to take in a Bollywood movie. Alternatively, it's possible to go on a tour to the heart of the action in Film City. Or if you'd rather be in a Bollywood movie than simply see the set of one, that's possible too!

Marine Drive: Built in the 1920s, Marine Drive runs along the shoreline of the Arabian Sea from Nariman Point to the foot of Malabar Hill. It is Mumbai’s most famous thoroughfare and a favourite spot for watching the sunset. Lined on the landward side by a crescent of crumbling Art Deco buildings, it is lit up at night prompting travel agents to dub it the Queen’s Necklace. At the top end of Marine Drive is Chowpatty Beach, the only beach in the central part of Mumbai.
