Our owner and Executive Chef, Dan Marsh is passionate about Asian cuisine and he constantly strives to offer dishes of high quality and absolute consistency! Using only the best products may limit our ability to offer certain dishes at certain times. Our menu does change slightly from day to day, allowing Dan the opportunity to make improvements and express his creativity with contemporary interpretations of traditional Asian dishes.

As our menu changes from day to day, we sometimes remove an item that holds a special place in many folk’s heart (palate). We understand that for many of you, your love affair for one dish can be so strong it would seem a crime for us to deny you the opportunity to enjoy it. We realize that if we do remove a popular dish it is important to revisit it from time to time and consider re-introducing it to the menu. We want you to know that your pleas to bring back dishes like the Chinese Long Life Noodles and Prawns with Grand Marnier Sauce do not fall on deaf ears.

Beer was the mission, and liberation was the movement. With a lot of elbow grease, blind ambition and a little luck, the quest to create a community pub in Northwest Lower Michigan began to take shape. The philosophy was to bring an appreciation of craft beer to the north with product education and creativity. The process of appreciation through education we call beer liberation.

The Pub has been hand crafted just as much as the food and beer. We are a non smoking family fun place. We take pride in the warmth and friendliness of our pub and all the goods it bears. We encourage you to come out any time and get a real Bellaire experience.

Learn about the beer and the company from our fantastic crew or just kick back and relax. The pub has free WiFi so you can bring your computer to do some work or do a little beer rating with a sampler on the side. We believe the pub to be a place of community and local activity just as the pubs had been during colonial times. It’s sort of the hub of the Village. We host live music, dance lessons and various other events throughout the year. If you don’t have time to stay, you can always get beer, food and SBC gear to go.

Inspired by natural surroundings, our esteemed restaurant and brewery offers a rustic atmosphere marked by fireside warmth and earthy woods in a comfortable cottage like setting.

Our highly skilled chefs are dedicated to serving laid back cuisine held to impeccable standards. Nestled among neighboring farms, our menu reflects the organic flavors of Traverse City, resulting in a personal interpretation of traditional dishes. Artisan pizzas, sandwiches, entrees, and of course, wine and beer, are ripe with a variety of fresh herbs, native spices, meats, and produce, harvested seasonally from our own backyard, coming together on every plate for a uniquely local culinary experience.

The Rowe Inn of Ellsworth, Michigan, offers an intimate, casual atmosphere of fine dining for Charlevoix, Torch Lake and all of Northern Michigan. You’ll find our seasonal menus and expansive fine wine collection perfect for any occasion. Individuals, couples, groups and families are equally welcome and catered to. All our meals and wines are served with passion and commitment unsurpassed by anyone in Northern Michigan’s fine dining industry.

Northern Michigan fine dining cuisine at the Rowe Inn

The Rowe Inn’s team takes great pride in creating and serving superior fine dining cuisine and wines. Many of our meals are prepared with the freshest, locally-produced ingredients. And those that aren’t are carefully chosen to ensure we serve only the best.

Much like a traditional French country inn, our fine dining menus change often based on the latest seasonal specialty ingredients offered by nature.

We’re passionate about our fine wines

In addition to our exquisite fine dining, The Rowe inn is both passionate towards – and well known for – our selection of the world’s finest wines.

We offer a 10% discount for those interested in purchasing 12-bottle cases – and those selections can be mixed in a variety of combinations. Please ask for more information – or for help with your wine selections.

The Rowe Inn’s fine dining heritage

Albert “Wes” Westhoven, Proprietor
Wes is truly a restaurant brat. Born into a restaurant family, his parents had a country club restaurant dining room. He began as a dishwasher at 10, became a Prep and Garne Mange at 12, a line cook at 14 and, finally, a chef at 16. His dad and mentor died in 1968 as he was finishing his MBA in Hotel & Restaurant Management at Michigan State University. Afterwards, Wes became General Manager and Maitre’d at the hotel. His mom retired in 1972 and he had “had it” with the country club – and wanted a place of his own.

Wes decided on purchasing The Rowe Inn (a chicken and burger place) in the culinary wasteland of Northern Michigan. He introduced a simple concept: the ambiance of a French country inn, fresh local ingredients, French techniques and casual dining. The Rowe Inn still adheres to those same basic principles after 36 years. Wes sometimes believes he must have been crazy – committing to all those years with four foundational philosophies – but it’s those same principles which bring the Rowe Inn such success as the superior fine dining restaurant in Northern Michigan.

“We pioneered fine dining in northern Michigan. We’ve been blessed with glowing reviews and a host of awards including DiRona, Triple A, Gourmet, and Food & Wine. But the most important thing has been to make our customers happy while putting great food and wine on their tables. I think we accomplish that with both pride and honor.”

The menu features a full range of smoked and BBQ foods, as well as local food selections. Enjoy the full bar, local beers and craft cocktails, while sitting just feet from the course. Entertainment and live music throughout the season.

Executive Chef, Casey Love

It’s no wonder that the first thing we had to purchase for our new Executive Chef, Casey Love, was a smoker! Although not a northern Michigan native (he spent serious time in Florida), the lumberjack spirit is strong in this one. With over a decade in the food world, including recently at Poppycock’s, we’ll let his words tell his cooking philosophy:

“Some days here in northern Michigan I get the eerie sense that I was born a hundred years too late. I’d love to be cooking bacon in a cast-iron pan over a campfire, back when they were still logging this area. Another day I could see myself drinking too much whiskey in the drift boat while trying to keep my fingers from freezing as I miss my first (and most likely only) bite of the day. In life, as in my kitchen, I get enveloped in the details — lost sometimes, when I’ve found something I really love. The sound of a warm guitar. The smell of burning hickory. The taste of a good bourbon. And then my cell phone rings. Yep. Over a hundred years too late.”

These days, you’ll find Casey smoking and grilling prime cuts of meat, fresh seafood and more at Bradley’s. Stop by to taste the history.

Valeria Thomas

When we started building Bradley’s we knew our Food & Beverage Manager had to be a superhero. We needed someone to handle hiring and scheduling, a person who could select all our beer and wine, just the right person to book the fabulous live entertainment and so much more. But what mere mortal could do all that – and do it with a smile?

Introducing Valeria Thomas!

Val came to Traverse City with intentions of being a nurse – but found that her true love was northern Michigan and the food and beverages that make this region so special. With 25 years of restaurant experience, she’s probably served you dinner or a drink – and done it with a smile.

When she’s not at work (which these days isn’t often!) you’ll find her with her Dad or teenage children enjoying hikes, books and laughter. When she is at Bradley’s, she’s infusing vodka, creating craft cocktails and serving as team leader, main cheerleader and mother hen.

It’s a quirky old building full of history, charm, and soul. The restaurant has been garnering press since opening its doors, and was recently featured, along with a few other local restaurants in the Grand Traverse area, in Hour Detroit magazine by chief restaurant critic, Christopher Cook: A Taste for Travel.

In January, the restaurant received a very nice mention in a Michigan Radio Stateside interview with Cynthia Canty and Christopher Cook, chief restaurant critic for Detroit Hour magazine: Traverse City’s emerging food culture.

Our kitchen offers a full, made-from-scratch menu created by co-owner and chef, Paul Carlson, and his talented cooks, that promotes locally grown, seasonal ingredients (the menu changes frequently), and we have a full bar featuring some of our favorite local breweries, cideries, and wineries.

We also offer craft cocktails and a hand-selected collection of whiskey, rum, bourbon, tequila, vodka, and more. Everything we make is from scratch using only the best quality ingredients–a majority of which are local to Leelanau County and to Michigan. We never pull pre-made food out of a box to serve our customers, and we never use a microwave. We believe in real, simple food.

During warmer months, customers can sit street-side and people watch, or enjoy time with friends and family under an umbrella on the back patio.

Reservations are recommended (but not always required)

Summer Hours, 2015:
Open Monday – Saturday: 11 am – 9 pm
– Full lunch service begins at 11 am (menu)
– Dinner begins at 4 pm (menu)

Sunday Brunch!

For years, we were known fondly as Bowers Harbor Inn. In spring 2010, we officially reopened as Mission Table at Bowers Harbor Inn. We still hold true to the basic ideology that made us one of Michigan’s most highly regarded culinary destinations for decades, but have focused and renewed our vows to our valued patrons:

With an awareness of our place in the community of the Old Mission Peninsula and Northern Michigan, we — the owners, chef and staff — take our inspiration from the land and waters that surround us

Our menu will feature the best ingredients available from local farms and fishermen, using the freshest products, honoring the seasons and supporting the agricultural economy of the region. These foods will be used in ways both innovative and traditional to bring out their unique essences. Garnish and presentation will always be secondary to flavor and quality

Wine, beer and spirits will be focused on local growers, brewers, vintners and distillers. Our wine list will reflect our unique and fortunate place in the heart of Northern Michigan wine country

Service will reflect the generosity of the land and the casual cheerfulness of the local people. Our service staff will be chosen for their passion to serve others, and will remember that gathering at the table with family and friends is a central human experience. We believe that, rather than being separate from kitchen operations, service is the final part in the natural sequence from farm to harvest to kitchen to table

The atmosphere will be warm and inviting, a place where our guests relax and feel welcome. A meal might include a breeze off the bay, a great sunset or a glowing fireplace, but it will always be a genuine Old Mission experience

With our recent substantial renovation — and the addition of other facilities at the complex — we’ve reinvented ourselves and recreated the pure epicurean experience.

In the finest tradition of old world European taverns, the “art gallery” restaurant promises both a culinary and visual feast. Wonderful cuisine with prime rib, fresh fish and seafood, lamb, steaks, chicken, duckling, pastas and signature soups and salads plus a weekly pierogie special make the Old Mission Tavern restaurant a habit with locals and a priority for visitors. The Tavern has provided a warm welcome for travelers for over twenty-five years.

Sundays feature a famous country style chicken dinner special. The Thursday night pierogies are made by Verna Bartnick and are a particular delight.

The Tavern’s main dining room with a woodburning stove and bar, leads to the “garden room”, brightened with many windows and surrounded by original artwork. In the Bella Galleria itself there is a banquet facility in which private parties can dine in the midst of the artwork.

Rocks Landing started life as a snack bar for Chimney Corners Resort. Once called the Beach Dining Room, it was built in the 50’s by Jim Rogers Sr., and offered breakfast and lunch for both resort guests and the public before closing down in 2014. The space was used as a “clubhouse” for guests, but owners Jim & Mary Rogers and resort chef Steve Tebo knew it could be so much more. With water literally lapping inches away from the deck and incredible views, this was an unparalleled opportunity to offer guests a truly memorable dining experience as the only Crystal Lake waterfront restaurant.

Steve, along with wife Kristin, and partnered with sister Julie Tebo and her husband, Paul Danes, envisioned creating a unique space with an eclectic and interesting dinner menu. Working in tandem with building owners Jim & Mary Rogers, the space was renovated with a modern kitchen and urban touches, while retaining the vintage character of the building. The deck space was enlarged and partially enclosed to encourage three season dining, as well as open air seating for sunny days. Named for the Roger’s men (nickname: “Rock”), Rocks Landing is both an homage to the man who built the space, and as a symbol of our commitment to friends, the community and our northern Michigan lifestyle.

Executive Chef Joe Meyers brings his culinary experience from Portland, Oregon to blend with Tebo’s passion for local, sustainable foods to create flavorful dishes with a myriad of ethnic influences. Shareable, smaller plates of seafood, fresh vegetables and “tapas” like entrées pair with a small, thoughtful wine list as well as several Michigan craft beers. Open Tuesday through Sunday, Mondays are reserved for the traditional Chimney Corners Resort picnic BBQ on the Rocks Landing lawn. Reservations are recommended. Open seasonally, May through October.

After 19 years Dinghy’s has established itself as one of the best local eateries Up North. Steve Christian has been owner of Dinghy’s for the past 14 years. Customers come from far and wide to enjoy the experience at Dinghy’s. Formerly Baker’s Bar – for 40 years – Dinghy’s is a landmark in Downtown Frankfort, in beautiful Benzie County , Michigan.

We pride ourselves on serving high quality and great tasting menu items made from the freshest ingredients, obtained from local sources when available. Dinghy’s has become famous for the meats that we cook in our own smoker using local hardwoods. In the early years we began serving only ribs and pulled pork bar-b-que sandwiches from our smoker. Over the last few years we have added bar-b-que chicken, huge turkey legs, and brisket served as an entree or as a French dip sandwich. This year, we introduced our newest menu item from our in-house smoker: chicken wings.

Meal after meal, we can promise you consistently great food at a reasonable price. We are also confident that we have the best staff in the area. All of our servers are well experienced and possess the knack for making everyone feel like members of the Dinghy’s extended family. They love what they do, and it shows.

The nautical theme of the restaurant highlights the history of the ferry boat fleet that steamed out of Frankfort harbor. The old car ferry signs that hang from the ceiling mark the days when those great ships sailed between the harbors of Michigan , Illinois and Wisconsin . Stained glass over the entry windows add to the nautical theme.

Several old maritime maps and photos adorn the walls, along with fish mounts that call attention to Frankfort ‘s Charter fishing fleet and the quality outdoor experience that abounds in Benzie County . Behind the bar hangs the World Record Brown Trout caught on a 10 lb. line right across the street in Betsie Lake .
