We are a casual, friendly course featuring 5730 yards of relaxing golf. Our location in the Glen Lake – Sleeping Bear Dunes Area gives you many opportunities to enjoy all of Northern Michigan’s outdoor activities.

Course History

Dunes Golf Club was built in 1982, and opened the following spring as a 3152 yard 9 hole course. Back nine construction began in the fall of 1989. It opened in the fall of 1991. Although shorter, at 2578 Yards, the back nine is still harder for most golfers, thanks to its tight tree lined fairways.

The Natural Beauty of Interlochen Creates a Memorable Golfing Experience

Golfers who regularly play the courses of the Traverse City area agree that the Interlochen Golf Course is one of the most scenic and lush course in the region. Laid out through a mature forest of large mixed hardwoods and white pines, Interlochen challenges the weekend golfer and lowhandicapper alike with strategically-placed bunkers and water hazards that make the course a club selector’s delight. Precision shotmaking and good course management are at a premium at Interlochen.

A mature course, the velvet greens and lush fairways of Interlochen are immaculately groomed so that the challenge is always fair. Golfers are also treated to the natural abundance of Northern Michigan Wildlife. It is not uncommon to see white-tail deer, wild turkeys and a gathering of wild Canadian geese. A peaceful tributary of the Betsie River winds throughout the course adding its own watery touch of beauty and charm.

The Toughest Holes

The back-to-back 12th and 13th holes are the toughest on the course. The 12th Hole is a 530-yard par five with water located on the right side of the fairway and in front of the green. There’s also a heavy swamp area in the back of the green. The 13th Hole is the number-one handicap hole. It’s a 455-yard par four. It takes a 260-yard drive to set up a good approach shot to the green. It’s heavily wooded on the right side so a golfer must stay left to have a chance at par.

Rated one of the top 100 best value courses in America!

Designed by Jerry Matthews, the Dells is rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest and overlooks beautiful Lake Michigan. The front nine is more spacious and features hills, sand and water and is a parkland type course with room to miss the fairway now and then. The back nine is cut through the trees with water and sand coming in to play as well. Combine all the natural terrain features of this cleverly cut golf course with winds coming off of Lake Michigan from the west and you have a great course that can play different every time out.

After a round of golf, have lunch or cocktails in the rustic chalet clubhouse overlooking the course. Relax and enjoy its picturesque views of lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay or even dine with us on weekends and enjoy a beautiful northern Michigan Sunset while your eating some Crab stuffed whitefish caught from the very same lake. Antrim Dells is now part of Agaming Golf Resort just 10 miles to the south and has excellent lodging choices for golfers looking to stay and enjoy all of our courses and area.

Designed by golf great Jack Nicklaus, The Bear is our best-known golf course and described as one of the toughest in the Midwest. You’ll quickly appreciate this beautiful par 72, links-style course featuring Scottish terraced fairways, tiered greens, deep grassy roughs, moguls, mounds, and deep pot bunkers. Lakes, ponds, hardwood forests, streams, and fruit orchards are home to a variety of wildlife that give The Bear its character: golf in the midst of wild nature. Listen to what two of golf’s legends have to say about The Bear:

“The people who play here are going to have a challenge and also have some fun, whatever level of golfer they might be…with rolling land, trees, lakes, streams and flatland, you have a mixture of different features that you rarely see on one course. That’s what makes this course unique. No two holes are similar.” – Jack Nicklaus

“The Bear is one of the great golf courses we play. The thing that makes this course so great is that it can be set up as tough as you want. This course challenges you on every shot. This is the way golf courses should be designed.” – Chi Chi Rodirguez, winner of the 1990 Ameritech Senior Open

The Bear Features

    * Bentgrass tees, greens, and fairway
* A challenging 7,078 yd. layout
* Signature hole #13, par-3, 167 yds. from the blue tees, over water
* 4 lakes and 10 holes with water hazards
* Wildlife including deer, ducks, blue herons, swans, and muskrat

The Wolverine is scheduled to open for the season on Friday, April 29, 2011, weather permitting. Watch for our opening season special.

A distinctly Northwoods golf experience, Gary Player designed The Wolverine with each nine offering its own challenges. The course weaves through water and wetlands on the front nine, and highland terrain with hardwoods and views of Grand Traverse Bay greet you on the back nine.

Flexibility, versatility, and playability are built into this unique course, which offers four tees on each hole.

“Seeing one of my courses right next to one designed by my long-time colleague Jack Nicklaus, is a real pleasure. I am equally excited to have created a course in such a beautiful part of the world.”
– Gary Player

“Through numerous tees and varying tee angles to the fairway or green, we can provide challenging courses while still making the course playable for the majority of golfers.”
– Gary Player

The Wolverine features:

    * Gary Player signature design
* Bentgrass tees, greens, and fairway
* Par 72, 7,043 yd. layout
* Multiple-tee construction to accommodate golfers of all abilities

Other features include strategically placed, easily visible white-sand bunkers; several large lakes; rolling fairways; and gently contoured greens. The Wolverine backs off its wily ways with generous fairways and broad landing areas. Golfers can chip and run from fairways to greens.

The course gracefully winds among the rolling hills overlooking East Grand Traverse Bay.

More forgiving than The Bear, Spruce Run will challenge you and offer hours of fun. It’s the perfect course for a relaxing morning or afternoon outdoors, spotting wildlife along the way. Yet it’s also a championship course, and was home to the Michigan Open before the completion of The Bear.

Spruce Run features:

    * William Newcomb design
* Par 70, 6,304 yd. layout
* Bentgrass tees, greens, and fairway
* Water hazards on 13 holes
* Wildlife including ducks, geese, blue herons, swans, and muskrat

The breeze from nearby Lake Michigan leaves little doubt that you’re up north. The fairways are thick and lush, and the greens are soft enough to hold well placed approach shots. There are four set of tees on each hole with total yardages ranging from 4437 to 6569. Scratch players will be challenged by a slope rating of 139 from the tips. Average golfers will need to play well and execute solid shots to score below their handicap, from the blue tees. However golfers of all levels will find The Heathlands to be playable and enjoyable. A practice range and two putting greens are available so players can warm up before their round.

The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms features spectacular views of Suttons Bay and Lake Michigan. While varied terrain with hills, woodlands, water, and strategically placed bunkers offer a memorable round of golf. The entry way and two holes (#13 and #16) are situated among working cherry orchards, just ripe for the picking in July while golfers plan their strategy to the green.

The Leelanau Club at Bahle Farms has become a golf course people want to play again and again. Undulating greens, tree-lined fairways, and strategically placed bunkers will put a premium on shot making rather than brute strength. Yet, there are a few holes, like #13, a 440 yard par 4, which will require distance as well as direction

The design makes insightful use of the tremendous natural variety of the land. Players will negotiate a myriad of terrain types including ridges, ravines, gullies, orchards, and highland meadows.

Feel the history as you navigate your way around the rolling hills of the golf course. The unique structures and windmills have withstood the test of time and now pave the way for a great Northern Michigan golfing experience.

This classic C.D. Wagstaff designed golf course reflects the architecture of the first half of the 20th Century. Although Wagstaff may not be as well known as a Ross or MacKenzie, “I never hear of clubs wanting to restore their Joe Roseman or C.D. Wagstaff,” Golf Digest course critic, Ron Whitten, once wrote. Put the golf game aside for a moment, enjoy the fragrance of cherry blossoms from nearby orchards, the birds and wildlife that abound from the Northern Michigan surroundings. Or just sit and gaze at the picturesque sunset as it drops behind the Sugar Loaf mountain.
