Hello stephane, As the Admin suggest, check the saddle first because there might be something that you cannot easily see without some investigation. Another option is to have a luthier inspect the guitar, he/she may be able to set the guitar up for your playing style, which in turn will save you some strings - and money buying new saddles! I had troubles breaking strings in similar situations, what I had done was:a) Pay close attention to how I was strumming and examine where in the song I was breaking said string. I tried to work on my technique - I'm not suggesting this is the case with your string problem - which helped a lot.b) I went from playing medium-gauge strings (49-11) to heavy strings (56-13). This change had taken some time for me to feel comfortable with the new string-gauge, but once I did, I have not had problems breaking strings - regardless of how hard I hammer the guitar. I hope this helps, and of course I wish you luck with whatever decision you make.Best, Jay

Hey joe, hank, humbuck...thanks for feedback on this. I have to put this project on the back burner for a month or so but am looking forward to contacting Kevin at some point....or if he posts here in the meantime for other bean owners to benefit even better. I have been tempted to put a little rubber cement in there for a temporary fix, since I know that would be easily reversible and might help dampen the vibrating rosewood to aluminum characteristic. Epoxy always freaks me out a bit...such a permanent commitment.

no problem with the standard?problem with artist started when you re-tubed the ampeg?do you have this problem with both pickups? if so it seem unlikely that they both deteriorated at the same time.do you use any kind of overdrive or distortion pedals? if so, how does the pedal(s) being on or off effect it...?do you have another amp to try it out with?at most, you could re-pot the pickups w/ wax like was already suggested. I wouldn't do much more than that. I wouldn't even do that until you troubleshoot the entire arrangement a bit more...
