Treasure From My Heart

Still Kicking

2021-05-23T13:56:00.003-07:00

So, I have been thinking about it for a while and I decided to start my blog again. It's been a few years since I was here and added any content, but I want to blog about my art and maybe about Second Life. Stuff that I do as a hobby. Watch for lots of pictures too, As I finally got myself a new camera!

Today I am sitting in Second Life Having a piece of watermelon. Trying to recover from being sick for a whole week with I don't know what. Hopefully it stops and I've been miraculously cured!

I watched my first born twin granddaughters graduate High School on video, they will be 18 next week. wow time flies. I don't know them and was not lucky enough to be able to share their life with them due to the fact that the adoptive parents never wanted to reveal they were in fact adopted.

Two of my grandchildren graduated the 8th grade and will be in high school next year, driving, dating, thriving. How exciting of a time! What a privilege to be young!

I have a lot of art projects in the works including paint pours, resin pours, miniature fairy gardens. NOw if I can just keep up in between work and life will be the question. I didn't have an outside job before when I blogged now I do and it will be different but I'll try to make a schedule and stick to it.

Stamps 101

2013-04-09T23:39:00.000-07:00

Stamp collecting is one of the most popular hobbies around, you can spend lots of money or you can collect casually and not spend any money at all. One of easiest ways to start collecting is to start saving the stamps off of your mail, you may also join a fan club that will send you random selections that you can buy or send back. You can also go to a hobby store and pick up a book and a beginners pack that will have the essentials you will need to start collecting.
Some countries make stamps just to sell to collectors, and make a substantial amount of money.

The First stamp ever printed was Great Britain's Penny Post also known as the Penny Black. It was issued in 1840 on May 1st for official use on the 6th of May. The Queen Victoria profile remained on stamps for the next 60 years. After the first stamp was issued people started collecting almost immediately.

After you start saving your stamps you will want to put them in a book using hinges or sleeves. Never glue your stamps into the book. Some other useful supplies would be a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers so you don't have to touch them.

Have fun starting your new hobby! This is a great project for kids. Because they can learn about different countries while collecting. And many stamps have historical value also. Stamps are also very colorful and artistic.

For everyone that is wondering I will be working on the Sand pictures this week. For the last couple of weeks I did Easter pictures, I do these pictures all in the same spot so I did not have room to do any sand pictures until the Easter pictures were done. Plus throw in some medical issues with my back/hip/neck/shoulder it has taken a little bit to do the sand pictures. Sorry for the wait.

Holy Saturday

2013-03-30T15:05:00.001-07:00

The last day of Lent, on Saturday Jesus laid in his tomb. This is a day to remember the dearly departed, be it Jesus or a lost love one. Please light a candle today to remember those who have gone before us.

"Grant that, as the crucified body of your dear Son was laid in the tomb and rested on this holy Sabbath, so we may await with him the coming of the third day, and rise with him to newness of life; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever."

New clay pieces

2013-01-21T22:54:00.001-08:00

I have been busy working on some new ideas for some clay pieces. I hope to have them finished up in the next couple of days to see if I can sell on my Bigcartel site. So far the fairy houses did not sell, which is disappointing because I thought they were cute.

Anyway here is a heart piece I'm working on, I still have a few more things to do. You cant really tell from the picture but the corner of the heart is shimmery gold.

another heart

Two different shaped pieces I was just messing around with a little bit.
I have a few more I'm working on but that will be for another post.
Watch for my give away and be sure to follow my facebook page for details.

At least its still January

a poem

2013-01-04T23:29:00.000-08:00

Day four

There is a wee girl

who won't grow up at all.

Did your angel bear her gently

because she was so small?

I wondered that you bothered,

it's such a long long way,

from Heaven to a parent's heart

and then not let her stay.

Forgive the tears and pleading

and bitterness we've shown,

we really did not understand

that she was just a loan.

We forgot in all the sweetness

and joy from day to day,

somehow we never really thought

she'd have so short a stay.

Just some pictures

2013-01-03T23:48:00.001-08:00

Day 3

Today I took some pictures of the birds that were visiting my feeder on the porch.

This little guy is a tufted titmouse with no tail. Why he has no tail I don't know.

And this guy is a nuthatch.I always love watching the little birds outside. The are so funny sometimes. Today all the sparrows were fighting over one bird feeder.

I also worked on a few more hearts just to try out some new techniques. I hope to get some made into necklaces tomorrow to see how they look. Not much else to say its very late and my computer is hot so I'm guessing its about to overheat and flip off again.

New pieces

2013-01-02T22:04:00.000-08:00

Day 2

I worked on some new necklace pieces today. Not much else was going on. Its cold here so no staying inside and warm is was I was up to. I need to work on getting the necklaces all put together now. Not sure how that will work, I'm not much of a jeweler.

I have been busy working on a cafepress page with my pictures on various items such as t-shirts, mouse pads, clocks, etc. And I have a new facebook page to share all my work on. I also have opened a store at bigcartel to sell my clay.

Now I just need to get in gear and get back to my clay projects. I get so many cute ideas off pinterest I cant wait to try them.
I included my links for anyone who would like to have a look. You may also find the links on the top of this page. Thanks for your time! And thanks for reading.

See you tomorrow.
