My Newest Shawl Obsession: Square Shawl

My newest obsession is this triangle shawl pattern. So far all I have done is made bandanas with this pattern.

You could use almost any yarn, though I would not get too bulky, and use any appropriate hook.

First, make a magic ring, or make a ring of ch 4,

1) ch 2 (does not count) 10 dc in ring, turn

2) ch1, sc in first dc, ch 2, skip dc, sc between the 3rd and 4th dc. ch 3, sc between the 5th and 6th dc. (mark this sc) ch 3, sc between the 7th and 8th dc, ch 2, sc in the last sc.

3) ch 3 ( counts as dc), 2 dc in the next ch 2 space, ch 1, 4 dc in the next ch 3 space, ch 1( marker is moved to this ch 1 space), 4 dc in the next ch 3 sp, ch 1, 2 dc in the ch 2 space, dc in the last sc,

4) ch 1, sc in the first dc, ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp. Now let's make the tip increase: [ ch 3, sc between the 2nd and 3rd dc in the next 4 dc group. ch 3 sc in the marked ch sp, ch 3, sc between the 2nd and 3rd dc of the 4 dc group, ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp] from now on, this will be the tip increase.

Finish this row with a ch 3 and sc on top of the turning ch.

5) ch 3, 4 dc in the next ch 3 sp, [ch 1, 4 dc in the next dc] repeat until the last sc, dc in the last sc.

Note: move the marker to the center of ch 1 sp

6) ch 1, sc in the first dc, ch 2, sc between the 2nd and 3rd dc in the next 4 dc group (this in an increase done on the ends ) [ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp.] repeat until you reach the 4 dc group before the marked ch 1 space in the center. Do the tip increase. [ch 3, sc in next ch sp] repeat until you reach the last 4 dc group.

end with ch 3, sc between 2nd and 3rd dc of the last 4 dc group. ch 2, sc on top of ch 3.

7) ch 3, 2 dc in the next ch 2 sp, [ch 1, 4 dc in the next dc] repeat until the last ch 2 sp, 2 dc in the ch 2 sp, dc in the last sc.

8) ch 1, sc in the first dc, [ch 3, sc in the next ch 1 sp] repeat until you reach the 4 dc group before the marked ch 1 space in the center. Do the tip increase. [ch 3, sc in next ch sp] repeat across, end with a sc in the last dc.

9) ch 3, 4 dc in the next ch 3 sp, [ch 1, 4 dc in the next dc] repeat until the last sc, dc in the last sc.

Repeat Rows 6-9 until you have the desired length

I don't think it needs a border, but feel free to add fringe to the ch 1 spaces.

I did a video tutorial back in May for this seamless crochet hat. I had initially used Lion Brand Quick and Thick yarn. However, you don't have to use a bulky yarn. You could use a thinner yarn if you like.

You could use any yarn and an appropriate hook size. You just have to make the appropriate measurements.

Create a magic ring, or ch 4 to create a ring

Round 1: in the ring, make 3 single crochet (sc) and 9 double crochet (dc). 12 stitches

Working in continuous rounds

Round 2: 2dc in each stitch

Round 3: *2 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch* around

Keep increasing 6 stitches per round until the crown measures 6 1/2- 7 inches, or check out this hat sizing chart on this website.

dc even around until the hat measures 7 inches from top to bottom or the desired length.

Last round: dc in every stitch until the last 3 stitches of the row, sc in the last three stitches.

You may add an additional round of sc if you like, finish off.

This is a different version of the classic shell. This stitch would work great with scarves, blankets, or wearables.

There are endless possibilities, but I thought I would also use this stitch in a Christmas ornament.

I like how this turned out.

Here is the pattern for the basic scarf.

I used size 4 weight yarn and a G hook, but you could use any yarn and hook size,

Foundation row: Make a chain that is divisible by 7. dc in the 4th chain from the hook, *skip 2 ch, 5 dc in the next stitch, skip 2 ch, dc in the next 2 stitches* repeat until there are three chains left, skip 2 ch, and 3 dc in the last stitch. ch 3 and turn

Note: You have the group of 5 dc, which is a shell. And a group of 2 dc. Going forward, the shell will be made between the group of two dc, and the two dc group in made between the second and third dc of the shell and 3rd and 4th dc of the shell.

One row repeat: dc BETWEEN the first and second dc, 5 dc in BETWEEN the next 2 dc group *dc BETWEEN the 2nd and 3rd dc of the next 5 dc group, dc BETWEEN the 3rd and 4th dc of the same 5 dc group, 5 dc BETWEEN the next 2 dc group* repeat across end with 3 dc between the dc and ch 3.

Repeat the one row repeat until you have the desired length.

Pattern for the ornament,

I used size 1-2 yarn, I had sock yarn for my project. I also used a 2mm hook,

Working in continuous rounds

Round 13: *sc 2 tog, sc in the next 3 stitches* (32)

Put the project around the clear bulb

Round 14: *sc 2 tog, sc in the next 2 stitches* (24)

Round 15: *sc 2 tog, sc in the next stitch* (16)

End the project: cut off a long tail, sew the tail in the front loops of all the stitches and lightly tug around the top of the bulb. Finish off.

I was inspired to make this cute fidget doll after seeing a similar item on the internet.

I made this item first. I was recording a tutorial and I ran into some technical problems and started a second cone doll.

I was using Teddy yarn from Dollar Tree. The yarn is soft and fuzzy, but it makes it hard to see the stitches. So for the cone part of the doll, I used Simply Fruits acrylic yarn. This pattern is very similar to my Christmas Tree pattern

For this doll, I used a medium-weight yarn. I have used acrylic, chenille, and novelty yarn, such as the Teddy yarn featured in the video.

I used a size H hook

You will also need scissors, a stitch marker, a yarn needle, and stuffing

Make a magic ring, or ch 4 and slip stitch with the first ch to make a ring

To make the hair: *sc in the ring, ch 20 or the desired number of chains, depending on how long you want the hair, 2 sc in the second ch from the hook and in each ch across* repeat 8 more times

Working in continuous rounds.

Round 1: sc in each sc working around the locks of hair, {9 sc}

Round 2: *2 sc in first st, 1 sc in next 2 stitches* repeat around{12}

All odd rows: sc in every stitch

Decreasing for the base:

Round 20: sc in each sc, working around the clusters {30}

Round 21: *sc 2tog (for amigurumi, put your hook in the front loops of the next 2 sc and sc like normal), sc in the next 3 sc* repeat around {24}

Round 22: *sc 2tog, sc in the next 2 sc* repeat around {18}

Round 23: *sc 2tog, sc in the next 2 sc* repeat around {12}

Round 24: *sc 2tog* repeat around {6}

Finish off: Cut off a long enough tail. With the yarn needle, insert it into all the front loops and gently pull tight, weaving in the end.

I have been creating one-row crochet Repeat patterns on my YouTube channel. For these patterns, you could use any yarn and hook size. However, I did use a medium-weight yarn for these.

This first one does use a special stitch. It is an elongated single crochet.

Foundation row: make a chain that is divisible by 2 plus 1. sc (single crochet) in the second chain from the hook, extended sc in the next stitch (put your hook in the next stitch, draw up a loop, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops.)* sc in the next stitch, extended sc in the next stitch* repeat until the end, ch1 and turn.

The repeat row: *sc in the first stitch (which was an extended sc from the previous row), extend sc in the next stitch (which was a sc in the previous row)* repeat until the end.

Here is the second pattern:

I wanted to create something for my grandson. He likes the feel of textured material.

This is a corner-to-corner project; it might be challenging, but I have a video tutorial to help out.

The materials I used were a size 4 weight yarn and a size I hook, but you could use any weight yarn or hook. I would keep the yarn between 3-5 size weight.

Bobble Stitch (B) = *insert hook in the stitch indicated, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops* repeat 4 more times, then draw through all 6 loops. ch 1 to secure the Bobble

Starting at one corner and increasing on both sides

Row 1: ch 4, B, ch 4, turn

Row 2: The bobble is on the right and turned to the side, B in the 4th chain from the hook, slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space, ch 4, turn

Row 3: B in the 4th chain from the hook, slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space, slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the next bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space, ch 4, turn

Row 4:B in the 4th chain from the hook, slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space, (slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the next bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space) repeat until there are no more bobble in the row, ch 4, turn

Repeat row 4 until you are ready to start decreasing.

If you want to only increase on one side to make the project a rectangle:

Row 1: B in the 4th chain from the hook, slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space, (slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the next bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space) repeat until you get to the last bobble, slip stitch into the ch 3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, turn

Row 2: (slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the next bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space) repeat until there are no more bobble in the row, ch 4, turn

Repeat these two rows until you have the desired height of the project. Finish up the project by decreasing on both sides, ending on row 1.

Repeat row 4 until you are ready to start decreasing.

Then decrease both sides to finish up the project: (slip hook in the ch3 space on top of the next bobble, ch 3, B in the same ch 3 space) repeat until you get to the last bobble, slip stitch into the ch 3 space on top of the bobble, ch 3, turn

Repeat this row until you only make one bobble. Finish off

So I started a pair of knitted socks and I started a pair of my Toe-Up Small Shell Sock

So I asked AI (Gemini) to do some sock math. I am impressed with what it came back with. It even gave suggestions on how to calculate a sock that fits the foot you want.

It involves making a swatch, which I hate doing.

I made this sensory Bobble Blanket with my grandson in mind. I found out on a recent trip that he likes textured items.

It does not matter what yarn thickness you use; just use the appropriate hook size.

Make a foundation chain that is divisible by 4, and add 2

Foundation row: hdc in the second chain from the hook, *sc in the next stitch, skip the next stitch, and make a bobble stitch, skip 1* repeat until the end, and hdc in the last stitch, ch 1 and turn

Worsted Weight Yarn size 3 or 4

Row2; dc in the next 5 dc, Turn

Row 4: ch 5, dc in the next 5dc, ch 2, sc in the next loop in the side of the loop, ch 2, turn

Row 6: ch 5, dc in the next 5dc, ch 2, sc in the next loop in the side of the loop, ch 2, turn

I made this scarf as part of Things Were Making Thursday. The challenge was to create our own scarf. I think this is a very elegant scarf that could add a finishing touch to an outfit.

It is also perfect if you have a 50 gram ball that you could use up.

This pattern can be used by a variety of yarn and hook sizes.

Foundation row:

In the ring make 12 dc turn, do not join

Row 1: CH 1, (sc in the next stitch, CH 3, sc in the next stitch) repeat until the end. 6 chain 3 spaces.

Row 2: CH 4 and turn, sc in the CH 3 loop,CH 1 and turn.

Row : 3 12 DC in the CH 4 loop, CH 1 and turn.

Repeat rows 1-3 until desired length to the scarf. End the scarf at row 1.

Chevron love strikes again! I've designed a new mug rug pattern, inspired by my enduring fondness for that classic zigzag.

I used a size 4weight cotton yarn for this and a size g or 4.5 mm hook.

For the foundation row: chain 26

Working in the back hump makes a nice edge, but you don't have to.

Row 1: 2sc in the second chain from the hook, [sc in the next 2 chains, sc3tog in the next 3 stitches, sc in the next 2 sc, 3 sc in the next chain] repeat until the end, except you are going to put 2 sc in the last stitch. ch 1 turn.

Row 2-15: You are repeating Row 1. Except you are working in single crochets instead of chain.

Materials:

You can use any weight yarn and hook size. I would use at least use a size 4 yarn.

Special stitch

Popcorn stitch: 5 dc in a stitch, take the hook out and insert it in the first dc, draw up the loop from the 5th dc, ch 1.

Foundation Row: ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each stitch across. Working on the other side of the foundation chain, 4 dc in the next stitch (first ear), slip stitch in the next 4 stitches , 4dc in the last stitch, join with the first sc.

Working on monster body:

round 1: work in continuous rounds, sc in the front loops of the next 6 sc, turn and work on the other loop of the 6 sc ( 12 sc)

round 2: *2 sc in the next stitch, sc in next stitch (18 sc)

round 3-5 Sc around

At this time, sew on facial features.

mark were you want the arms,

sc until marked stitch, make a popcorn, sc until the next marked stitch, make popcorn,

then.… sc in every sc, skipping over the popcorn stitches (16 sc)

do 2 rounds of sc, the sc until you are in the middle of the the monster,

skip 8 sc, sc in the next 7sc, do 2 more rows of sc. fasten off

For the other leg, attach yarn to one of the remaining sc and do three rows of sc.

This is my latest wash cloth tutorial.

Materials:

2 colors of size weight 4 yarn

size g hook

Turn

Row 2: ch 1, skip the first sc, sc and dc in the next dc, *skip next sc, sc and dc in the next dc* repeat until the end, sc in the last sc, Do Not Turn! Drop color A and hold the loop with the stitch marker.

Row 3: going back to the beginning of row 2: pick up color B in the first sc, ch 1, sc and dc in the same sc *skip the next dc, sc and dc in the next sc* repeat until you reach the last two stitches sc in the last stitch, Put the loop of the color A back on the hook, drop color B by doing a slip stitch. Turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have the desired length, however, when you finish row 2 for the last time, you can just finish off the end.

The last time you do row 3, you can add a border by going around the other three sides in the established sc and dc pattern.

This towel holder makes it easy to hang towels.

Materials:

2 hair ties or 3-4 inch craft ring

5 mm hook or size H hook

worsted weight cotton yarn

scissors

yarn needle

Special Stitch (SP) : insert the hook in the stitch just finished, draw up a loop, insert the hook in the next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over a draw through all 3 loops.

Around the first hair tie: 40 sc around the hair. if using a craft ring, you may need to add more. Join slip stitch with the first sc.

Repeat this row until you have a band that is the desired length: ch1, sc in the first stitch, SP 7 times, turn

Once you have the desired length, finish off.

With a second hair tie or craft ring, 40 sc or more if needed, join and finish off leaving a long tail.

Sew the second hair tie or ring to the band. Finish off any loose ends.

Crochet a Cozy Basket: A Step-by-Step Guide

Materials:

    Bulky t-shirt yarn, or a bulky yarn, or three strands of size 4 weight together
    Size I or 5.25 mm hook
    Stitch marker
    Scissors
    Yarn needle

Let's get started!

Creating the Base:

    Chain 21: Start by chaining 21 stitches.
    Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in the second chain from the hook, and then sc in each chain across. You should have 20 sc. Chain 1, turn.
    Rows 2-20: Continue sc in each stitch across, chain 1, turn.

Working Around the Base:

    Round 1:
        Sc in the next 19 sc.
        3 sc in the next sc (corner increase).
        Turn work to the side.
        19 sc along the side.
        3 sc in the next sc (corner increase).
        Working on the other side of the foundation chain, sc in the next 19 stitches.
        3 sc in the next sc (corner increase).
        Turn work to the side.
        19 sc along the side.
        3 sc in the next sc (corner increase).
        Join with the first sc, ch 1.

    You should have a total of 88 sc.

    Round 2: Single crochet by working around from the back of each sc.

Continuing the Basket:

    Work in continuous rounds, using a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round.
    Sc in each sc for about 11 rounds or until the desired height.
    Sc until you reach a corner of the bag. With 88 sc total, that’s 22 sc per side.

Making the Handle:

    Sc in the first 6 sc of a side, ch 10, skip 10 sc, sc in the next 34 sc, ch 10, skip the next 10 stitches, sc in the remaining stitches of the round.
    Sc in each sc and 10 sc in the ch 10 space for the handle.
    Sc in each sc around.

Finishing:
Secure the loop, use the yarn needle to run the tail through the next sc from the front, then go through the back loop of the last sc that was just done.

Here is my latest pattern, the shell hat. One of the unique features of this hat is the chain-less foundation.

I did a video tutorial on how to made the chain-less foundation:

Materials you would need.

Size 4 weight yarn

Foundation Brim: You can make the foundation double crochet from the video above, or make the ribbed brim:

R1: chain 5

R2: sc in the second chain from hook and the remain 3 chains, ch1 and turn

R3-60: sc in the back loop of each sc, ch1, turn

Turn the work to the side, work 1 sc for every row of the of the brim, slip stitch into the first sc.

Shell pattern:

Round 1: ch 1, sc in the same sc, skip 2 sc, 5 dc in the next stitch (shell made), *skip 2 sc, sc in the next sc skip 2 sc, 5 dc in the next stitch* repeat around. slip stitch with first sc

Round 2: ch 4, work back in the last 5 dc made, sc in the third dc of the 5 dc shell, 4dc in the sc you slipped into, *skip 2 dc and sc in the next dc, skip the next 2 dc, 5 dc in the next sc* repeat around, slip stitch with first sc

Repeat row 2 until the hat measure about 6 inches.

Decrease the hat:

Round 1: ch 4, move back to the last 5 dc made, sc in the third dc of the 5 dc shell, 3dc in the sc you slipped into, *skip 2 dc and sc in the next dc, skip the next 2 dc, 4 dc, in the next sc* repeat around, slip stitch with first sc

Round 2: ch 4, move back to the last 4 dc made, sc between the second and third dc of the 4 dc shell, 2 dc in the sc you slipped into, * sc between the second and third dc of the next 4 dc shell, skip the next 2 dc, 3 dc in the next sc* repeat around, slip stitch with first sc

I have come up with another Mobius Fidget Toy. This one features front post double crochets

Notes:

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

FPDC = front post double crochet

I used size 3 yarn and a 4.5 mm hook

Chain 20
Row 1: Join with the first stitch for the ring, ch 2 (does not count) dc in each of the 20 chains, continue on by twisting to the other side of the foundation chain, and do 20 more dc along the other side of the foundation chain. 40 dc total.

Rounds 2-4: slip stitch with the first dc (or FPDC) ch 1, 2 FPDC in each stitch around.

Finish off after round 4.

I used Hobbii Silly Sock Flower Pop Mini You can use any sock weight yarn

Size C of 2.5mm hook

2 stitch markers

scissors

yarn needle

Make the cuff:

Foundation row: ch 6, sc in the second ch from the hook

Rows 2-20: ch 1, in the back loops, sc in each ch across.

Make the sock.

Turn the cuff to the side, do 20 sc along the side of the cuff.

Working in continuous rounds, sc in the first sc and do a sc in every sc for about 5-7 rounds depending how long you want it.

Make the heal flap.

So sc, until you are at the side of the sock, ch 1 and Turn

Row 1, sc in the next 10 sc, ch 1 and turn

Row 2-4, repeat row 1

Make the heal turn,

Row 5: sc in the next 6 sc, ch1 and turn. Leave 4 sc un-worked

Row 6: sc in the next 2 sc, ch 1 and turn. Leave 4 sc un-worked

Row 7: sc in the next sc, insert the hook in the next sc and draw up a loop, insert the hook into the side of row 6 and draw up a loop, insert the hook in the next sc (from row 4) and draw through all 4 loops. sc in the next sc from row 4, ch 1 and turn

Row 8: sc in the next 2 sc, insert the hook in the next sc and draw up a loop, insert the hook into the side of row 6 and draw up a loop, insert the hook in the next sc (from row 5) and draw through all 4 loops. sc in the next sc from row 4, ch 1 and turn

Row 9: sc in the next 3 sc, insert the hook in the next sc and draw up a loop, insert the hook into the side of row 7 and draw up a loop, insert the hook in the next sc (from row 4 ) and draw through all 4 loops. sc in the next sc from row 4, ch 1 and turn

Row 10: sc in the next 4 sc, insert the hook in the next sc and draw up a loop, insert the hook into the side of row 7 and 8 and draw up a loop, insert the hook in the next sc (from row 5) and draw through all 4 loops. sc in the next sc from row 5. Don't turn

Setting up for the gusset:

Put 5 sc on the side of the heel flap, put a stitch marker in the 5th sc, sc in the next 10 sc, 5 sc along the other side of the heel flap, put a stitch marker in the first sc of the 5 sc along the flap.

Repeat this decrease round 3 times:

*sc until one stitch before the stitch marker, sc2tog the stitch before the marker and the marked stitch. Put the marker back in this stitch, sc the next 10 (previously un-worked), sc2tog the marked stitch and the next stitch* after repeating this 3 times, you should have the 20 sc.

sc evenly around for about 5-7 rows until you ar happy with the length of the foot and are ready for the toe.

Make the toe.

Set up for the toe:

Put a stitch marker 2 stitches from the end of end. There should 9 stitches between each marker.

*sc up to the stitch marker, [sc2tog in the next 2 stitches] 2 times. sc up to the next stitch marker, [sc2tog in the next 2 stitches] 2 times.* repeat 2 more times. 8 sc total

Note: The video tutorial will show a slight variation for the toe.

Sew up the toe and the seam for the cuff

I found this unique yarn called Kithed Rafia Yarn. I found it on Amazon.

I did a little research about the yarn with the help of AI and this is what I have:

Round 2: Work AROUND from the back of each sc around.

or you could work in the back loop of each sc. 44 sc

Working in continuous rounds, use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round. Sc in each sc for about 18 rounds or until the desired height. sc until you are at an end of the bag. With 44 sc total, that is 22 sc per side. Find the sc that looks like it is the first of the side.

Making the handle

1) Sc in the first 6 sc of a side, ch 25, skip 10, sc in the next 2 sc, TURN

2) Skip the first 2 sc, 25 sc in each chain 25, skip the next sc, Special Slip Stitch in the next 2 sc. Turn

Special Slip Stitch= insert the hook in the SC from Behind and do the slip stitch as normal

3) Skip the first 2 special slip stitches, sc in the next 25 sc of the handle and sc in the next 4 sc on the bag.

This should finish of one side of the bag and ready to do the other handle. Repeat steps 1-3

Finish off. I did this by securing the loop, use the yarn needle to run the tail through the next sc from the front then going through the back loop of the last sc that was just done.

This tutorial is another fidget toy! I am calling this my bumpy ball because it has bumps with which to fidget.

The ball should be easy to make as long as you know how to do single crochets and how to do a single crochet decrease. There is a video tutorial to help you along.

I used a medium-weight / worsted (size 4 weight yarn)

Knitting Machine Chicken

I have been obsessed with making chickens on the knitting machine! Making a chicken on the knitting machine works up pretty quick!

I want to show you how I made my chicken, keep in mind the there are no specifics for making this chicken.

I have a 40 pin Sentro knitting machine, and that is what I used.

I made a tube of about 4-6 inches in the color I want chicken to look like on the outside and about the same amount in the color that is going on the inside of the chicken. It need to be doubled up to the stuffing doesn't show.

Pull and gather up the end that is going to be the bottom of the chicken.

Tuck the side of the tube that is is going to the inside of the chicken plus maybe about an 1/2 inch or so or more so you can't see the inside yarn.

Add some stuffing inside the chicken

We are going to start at the tail end of the chicken, I carefully brought up the yarn tail up from the bottom and sewed about an inch. At the one inch point, secure it well because we are going to gather the middle part.

Loosely sew up the middle section leaving about an inch away from the end, which will be the head. Gently pull the yarn to gather up the middle, Then secure well.

So now we run the yarn around the opening of the head.

At this point you could add the safety eyes if using then and sew on any other features. The beak is just yarn wrapped around many times,

Add more stuffing to fill out the head.

Pull the tail to close the opening and secure in place

I just wrapped yarn a couple times around my finger to add a feathery look on top

An then I sewed it in place.

There you have your chicken! Again, these are no specific instructions. It is just guidelines.

Row 1: ch 12, 3 sc in the second ch from the hook and 3 sc in the next 9 chains, sc in the last ch, slip stitch in the next sc on the head

Row 2: 2 sc in the first sc, ch 16

Row 3: sc in the second ch from the hook and 3 sc in the next 14 chains, 2sc in the next sc and 1 sc in the next sc, slip stitch in the next sc on the head

Row 4: sc in the first sc and sc2tog in the next two sc. ch 16

Row 5: sc in the second ch from the hook and 3 sc in the next 14 chains, sc 2tog in the next 2 sc, slip stitch in the next sc on the head

Row 6: ch 11, 3 sc in the second ch from the hook and 3 sc in the next 9 chains slip stitch in the same stitch as before. If you don't want to add hair, finish off here by securing all the ends. I used the tail end by gathering and forming the neck .

For the hair:

Chain 10, or any amount of chains you like, *slip stitch back in the same stitch, slip stitch in the next stitch, ch 10* repeat around slip stitch back into stitch that started Row 1 of the body. Finish off.

Chevron Gift Bag

I love this crochet bag! I saw a similar photo on TEMU and I knew I had to make one. Furthermore, I did make a large bag initially, but I am going to focus this as a gift bag. When you tie the top shut, the four points meet to close up the bag. I also have a YouTube video for this bag.

sc = single crochet

ch = chain

sc3tog = single crochet 3 together

You will need:

Thick weight yarn or 2 medium weight yarn held together

size I hook or 5.5 mm

yarn needle

scissors

stitch markers (optional, it could help keep track of the corners)

Start off my making a magic ring or ch 3 or 4 join to make a ring

Round 1: 8 sc in the ring, (pull ring shut if using a magic ring) join with a slip stitch to the first sc, ch 1 and TURN

Round 2: sc in the sc you joined with, 3 sc in the next sc, *sc in the next stitch, 3 sc in the next sc* around, join with the first sc, ch 1 and turn

Note: You can but a stitch marker in the second single crochet of the 3 sc group, that is the corner.

Round 3: sc in the sc you joined with, sc in the next stitch, 3 sc in the next sc, *sc in the next 3 sc, 3 sc in the next sc* around end with sc in the last sc of the round, join with the first sc, ch 1 and turn

Round 4: sc in the sc you joined with, sc in the next 2 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, *sc in the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc* around end with sc in the last 2 sc of the round, join with the first sc, ch 1 and turn

You are going to repeat this last round until you get the desired height.

For the ties:

join with a slip stitch at the tip of one of the chevrons, make a chain of 100 (or desired tie length), slip stitch with next chevron tip. repeat for the remaining two chevrons.

I made this bag a little bigger and used one strand of thicker weight cotton yarn

Round 10: sc in the sc you joined with, sc in the next 8 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, *sc in the next 17 sc, 3 sc in the next sc* around end with sc in the last 8 sc of the round, join with the first sc, ch 2 and turn

I did about 18 rows

We Did It!

Our YouTube channel finally got the 4000 watch hours and we are finally monetized!

It took three years, but it finally happened. I have come a long way since my first video. I did mean "Our" and "we" because It could not happen without the viewership from you.

I am still not what the future will hold for the channel and the blog for that manner, I will focus on more content on the YouTube channel and still also write the written patterns here.

There also is the possible of expanding the content to include more knitting and other yarn related content.

On a side note, I recently got a Sentro Knitting Machine. It is only a 40 pin, so it only makes a small hat.
