Taylor Monsen performs in tied and buckled knee high boots.

Taylor Momsen has come a long way from being that cute, child star candy lau who in the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carry.

Momsen, as we recall, was also a teenage fashion trend setter on the trendy television series Gossip Girls paying the part of Jenny Humphrey.
She was even a child star in those Shake 'N' Bake commercials of yonder years.
But today, Momsen is shaking up the music and fashion worlds with her sexy combination of music and fashions.
Yes, Momsen is still sporting a twin pair of long braided hair.
But she is also wearing a spiked leather necklace matched with a necklace of pearls.

Credit: Fame Pictures

Taylor Momsen is snaking up the fashion and music world.

Yes, she included the rocker's symbolic leather biker jacket in her on stage fashion wardrobe, but it barely conceals her sexy black lace body stocking and black studded, pushup bra.
Monsen certainly likes the tied and buckle look in her studded boots.
Each of her knee boots contains eight rows of double buckled for a total of thirty-two buckles for the pair.

Taylor Momsen Rocks Bacelona
Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless were performing in Barcelona, Spain last week.
During one performance, Momsen flash the audience, raising her t-shirt above her head, but apparently taking a cue from Lady GaGa, she covered her nipples with black tape in a 'X' design.

Later in the performance she invited her female fans on stage, provided they remove their tops.
She had no problem in filling the stage with her adoring female fans wearing just their bras, as you can see in the video clip.
But as Anne Slowey reports, there’s nothing fussy or frilly about the season’s sophisticated ladies

There was a moment at the Thierry Mugler show, just as Lady Gaga took the stage smoking a cigarette, when the entire season seemed to splinter into two starkly different halves: grandstanding showmanship versus grandly elegant clothes. Onstage, the audience was treated to a stylist and a pop sensation’s purview of fashion—for them, a universe where looking interesting and avant requires extreme measures. Which stood in contrast to what we saw elsewhere, which was, to put it simply, everything that is right with fashion at the moment: the beauty and simplicity of elegance, done in a way that women can readily interpret.
Gaga’s fashion director, Nicola Formichetti, is the newly appointed creative director of Mugler, and he was determined to bring a little fantasy back to the catwalk with his first women’s wear show for the brand. But for all the buildup, the actual sight of Gaga on the runway in Formichetti’s creations—primarily bodysuits with sheer paneling and exaggerated shoulders—was a bit of a letdown. I mean, where were the clothes? It just reminds us how different “real” women and celebrities are when it comes to their relationship to fashion. Stars use it to build an image; the rest of us look for clothes that connect with some inner part of ourselves—we need self-expression, not a fan base.
In the end, Gaga at Mugler proved just an amuse-bouche in a season that would come to feel like a scene from The Tempest. Later in the week, Christophe Decarnin was a no-show at Balmain; he left the company because of “work differences” (widely speculated to be stress-related issues). John Galliano, as we all know now, had just brought his career to an end with a bigoted, drunken rant. His highly publicized fall from grace stunned the industry; editors played snippets of the now infamous YouTube exposé on their iPads in the front row. Dior CEO Sidney Toledano publicly and elegantly spoke of the difficult affair before the company’s subdued runway show in a tent at the gardens at Musée Rodin. The wrenching awkwardness gave way to heartfelt appreciation at the finale, when the entire atelier of “mains” (i.e., the skilled hands who create the clothes) was invited onstage to take a bow normally reserved for the theatrical Galliano. A few days later, at Galliano’s self-titled collection (in fashion, the show must go on, apparently) beautifully draped plaid silk jackets and elaborately embroidered robe dresses made the fall of one of fashion’s greatest showmen seem all the more senseless. The designer, said to have been struggling with addiction for some time, quickly offered a public apology and is rumored to have decamped to rehab.
Needless to say, the vacuum at Dior sparked endless speculation: Who would be Galliano’s replacement? That announcement might not be made until the fall. Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy is the most widely talked-about front-runner, although it is hard to imagine the house of Dior finding its full measure of elegance in the hands of someone whose dominant tropes are Catholicism and gothic themes. Certainly, other designers who haven’t worked in couture but who understand the complexities of running a giant company, such as Marc Jacobs, must be in the running as well. Haider Ackermann was also favored by those insiders who have always appreciated his moody, soulful sophistication—conjecture that was buoyed by one of his best shows to date. Ackermann’s low-slung silhouettes, exquisitely wrought in draped teal and plum silks, had an edgy, yet painterly, appeal. Dior, a house originally known for reshaping the body in excesses of fabric, could find a wellspring of ideas in someone so like-minded.
But for all of the industry’s current unease, even high-octane drama couldn’t overshadow the beauty of the clothes themselves. Once again, this season, American designers held their own against their European counterparts. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler continued to shine, for fall exploring computerized jacquard prints in a renewed take on American Indian blankets and macramé skirts. Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte also used computers to reframe Americana, casting photorealistic images of wheat fields reminiscent of Willa Cather’s My Ántonia across their prairie dresses. Michael Kors celebrated 30 years in the business by rocking out to his own greatest hits: ’70s-inspired halters and slim trousers in jersey. And many relative newcomers—such as Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra—followed suit, offering their own strong visions of the season’s return to elegance. Shapes were softer and less strict, though still exuberant. In New York, as well as Paris and Milan, the patrician, razor-sharp edges that have dominated the last few seasons gave way to softer shoulders and longer below-the-knee lengths that at times had a retro quality—whether it was ’90s grunge (Richard Chai Love); Depression-era prints (Louis Vuitton) and shirtdresses (Jason Wu); or postwar ’40s padded shoulders (Miu Miu). Other, more jocular details from each of those eras—puffers, parkas, metallics, feathers, bugle beads—made appearances, too. Even the LBD (Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani) reemerged on both sides of the Atlantic.
The menswear moment is still holding steady, with stiff, mannish coats at Jason Wu and Céline, plus dusters, cutaways, and oversize boyfriend sweaters worn over flowing skirts and pin-straight pants elsewhere. Another ’90s staple, the perfecto motorcycle jacket, is back, with variations seen at Junya Watanabe and Marni. And fur sleeves (Peter Som) along with sleeve-and-collar combos (Burberry Prorsum) seem to be a common answer to the question of how to handle fur—back, this season—in a modern, relatively price-conscious fashion.
Come fall, pants, while still a major trend, will have some competition in the form of skirts. These came in every iteration from peplums to kick pleats; many, like those at Louis Vuitton and Givenchy, have sheer linings playing peek-a-boo beneath their hemlines. Delicate chiffon layering at Narciso Rodriguez and Gucci was a big statement, reminding one of how elegant seductive dressing can be in the right hands. But for all its refinement, the season was not without its novelties. On the lighter side, dots and paillettes offered playful counterpoints to hourglass shapes in lace at Marc Jacobs and simplified silhouettes at Stella McCartney. Meanwhile, Rick Owens and Giambattista Valli played on more monastic notions of outerwear with cropped and full-length capes. Elsewhere, long panels flowed off the backs of coats, conjuring a mood of ancient nobility. And speaking of medieval, in her fourth women’s collection, Sarah Burton has stepped fully into the shoes of Alexander McQueen, with a mouthwatering collection that had the audience all a-Twitter (literally) about whether one of her feathered-fur or frayed-organza gowns would make its way down the abbey aisle April 29 on Kate Middleton.
Perhaps one of the most exciting trends this season was a return to classic couture shapes of the late ’50s and ’60s. Junya Watanabe showed finely crafted leather jackets over full skirts, while at Jil Sander, Raf Simons mined the cocoonlike shapes of Cristobal Balenciaga in a lineup of voluminous padded dresses and coats, hooded ski sweaters and cigarette-slim stirrup pants. Meanwhile, at Balenciaga, Nicolas Ghesquière reworked the skirt and oversize fishnet lacing to create a new, relaxed silhouette that was one part schoolgirl, three parts bourgeoisie. He finished off the effect with Pierre Hardy’s rococo-detail shoes and bags, which looked as if they could have been unearthed in the models’ grandmothers’ closets, somewhere on Avenue Foch. The result was a phenomenal group of simple shapes that had a youthful spirit, perfect for any woman in search of easy clothes that will make her look good without standing out. In my book, that’s the epitome of chic.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Women on Television

The reclusive Saint Laurent's couture creations won global fine art status and he was widely considered to be one of an elite club of designers including Christian Dior and Coco Chanel who made Paris the fashion capital of the world.

From Princess Grace of Monaco to the actress Catherine Deneuve, Saint Laurent's creations adorned many famous women but he was also the first designer to make luxury labels accessible to a wider audience through innovative read-to-wear collections.
He exploded on to the world stage at just 21 and built up a clothes, perfumes and accessories empire that resulted in a 1989 stock market flotation -- the first by a fashion house.
But Saint Laurent, whose death on Sunday was announced without any details of the cause, was plagued by health problems -- he suffered from severe depression and underwent treatment for alcohol abuse.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy praised Saint Laurent as a creative genius. "He was convinced that beauty was a luxury that every man and woman needed," Sarkozy said in a statement.
"(Coco) Chanel gave women freedom. Yves Saint Laurent gave them power," Saint Laurent's long-time friend and business partner Pierre Berge told France Info radio.
"(But) he was someone who was very shy and introverted, who had only very few friends and hid himself from the world."
Saint Laurent, who retired in 2002, was widely credited with changing forever what women wore, making the trouser suit a daytime staple and the tuxedo an elegant option.
He also popularized safari jackets and thigh-high boots, and his transparent blouses made near-nudity acceptable in high society. His square-shouldered suits became classics and he simplified evening-wear, moving from shocking satins to flowing white crepe of Hellenic purity.
"He completely revamped a woman's wardrobe," luxury underwear designer Chantal Thomass told French radio. "His fashion was full of color and inspired by art."
EARLY TALENT
The eldest child of a wealthy French industrialist, Saint Laurent was born and grew up in the then French colony of Algeria and showed a talent for design, making clothes for his younger sisters' dolls.
At 17 he entered a Paris fashion school, and his sketch for a cocktail dress won first prize in an annual contest.
Introduced to Christian Dior, the gangly Saint Laurent was hired on the spot by the creator of the "New Look" and became his chief assistant. On Dior's death in 1957, Saint Laurent became chief designer and swiftly outshone his mentor.
After his first collection introduced the widely copied "trapeze" silhouette with narrow shoulders and flared skirt, the shy 21-year-old was pushed out on to the Dior building balcony and crowds in the avenue below hailed him like royalty.
Saint Laurent directed Dior for three years, until drafted for military service during the Algerian war.
For a sensitive person whose homosexuality had made his school years a torture, army life was an ordeal. He had a nervous breakdown and spent nearly three months in hospital.
Berge got a businessman to provide backing for the young designer to establish his own fashion house, and Saint Laurent presented his first collection under his own name in 1962.
The "YSL" empire grew steadily and Saint Laurent showed an instinctive ability to sense what the mood on the streets was and turn it into high fashion.
But by the late 1980s his health problems were an issue.
Insiders said Saint Laurent, who never read newspapers or listened to the radio, became increasingly cut off from reality and lost touch with all but a tiny group of friends.
"Fame has destroyed him," Berge once said.
"All designers have a bit of the megalomaniac in them -- the only difference is that the fake designers, the bad ones, are happy megalomaniacs while the real ones are unhappy megalomaniacs. Saint Laurent is an unhappy megalomaniac."
Despite the personal demons, his business empire thrived. The 1989 flotation was a runaway success.
But when the Gulf War erupted and the world economy slumped in the early 1990s, Berge and Saint Laurent sank into debt.
In 1992, YSL was absorbed by cosmetics and drugs company Sanofi, with Saint Laurent retaining creative control. Then in 1999 it was bought by the Gucci group, itself controlled by French luxury giant PPR.
Saint Laurent, rarely seen in public after his retirement, was awarded one of France's top honors in 2007.
I was so tired of my winter clothing that I impulsively bought a black and white print cotton sundress. Is there any way I can wear my dress in this cool spring season? -Ina
Dear Ina:
Usually the principle of layering makes it possible to wear lighter clothing even when the weather does not cooperate. Your personal look will determine if any or all of the following suggestions are solutions for you.
1) Wear your dress over a long-sleeved top and tights, then accessorize. A black turtleneck that fits close to the body, or a top in a stylish new bright colour, anchored with a black belt, hose and shoes will work.
2) Use your dress as a skirt and simply slip a flattering pullover on top.
3) Try wearing a cotton shirt in black, white or any flattering colour over your dress. Lift the collar slightly, roll your sleeves to three-quarter length and tie in with a belt in the width that works best for you. Use the belt over your shirt for a more tucked-in look, or on your dress, leaving your shirt free and easy.
4) Jacket your dress with a soft cardigan, shrug or tailored jacket and complete with hose and shoes.
5) Make your dress part of a coat and dress ensemble. Use it under a three-quarter or knee-length cardigan or tailored "jacket/coat."
6) Use the top of your dress as a tank top by slipping a skirt over your dress and build from there.
Incorporating a summer dress into a current spring look is definitely possible when you use your imagination and experiment to find your best looks. Enjoy your dress starting now!
Dear Marilyn:
How do you suggest I wear my neutral linen safari shirt? It has epaulettes and long sleeves and comes down to my knees. - Heather
Dear Heather:
Your shirt is a classic that is also a current fashion trend and will prove to be extremely useful for all four seasons of the year.
Here are some contrasting ways that you can wear it to add variety:
Wear it belted or not.
Wear it with the sleeves down long or pushed up or rolled to three-quarter length.
Wear it as a shirt over slim pants or leggings.
Wear it as a dress, if the length suits you.
Wear it open as an easy third piece over a dress or top and bottom ensemble.
Wear it under a vest or jacket (both long and short will work).
Wear it with the colours you love to wear or punctuate it with dominant neutrals such as black, brown or navy.
Wear it with accessories and underpinnings that tie in to its buttons. With natural shell buttons, try a soft white top and pearl-toned jewelry. Use a saddle leather belt and wooden beads for an earthy look, and definitely use gold or silver with colourful stones to complete your look when your fasteners are metal. Playing off the established colour rhythm of your shirt and buttons will give you a pulled-together look.
Wardrobe statements using your shirt are limitless since it can be teamed with most fabrics, layered to make it comfortable in all seasons and paired with almost any colour you desire. Congratulations on acquiring such a versatile, durable and stylish shirt. Enjoy!

Brynne to design dramatic fashions

A model walks the runway wearing a hat during the Lanvin fashion show in Paris in January. At the recent men's wear shows in Paris and Milan, hats returned to the stage after declining over the last few decades

There was a time when only beggars went bareheaded. This was some while ago, a century or so. But up until World War II and the period just after, a gentleman was not considered properly dressed without a hat. Even the names of hats were rich in character and historical association. The bowler, or derby, with the rigid shape of an upended bean pot, was named for a 19th-century English earl who popularized the style. The fedora's name came from a play of that title, written for Sarah Bernhardt by the otherwise largely forgotten French dramatist Victorien Sardou.

A model walks the runway wearing a hat during the Yohji Yamamoto fashion show in Paris in January.

A model walks down the runway during the John Varvados Milan Fashion Week Menswear A/W 2011 show on January 15, 2011 in Milan, Italy.

Then the hat went the way of the dodo. Social historians are divided about the cause of the sartorial die-off, although an often repeated canard attributes it to President Kennedy and his rarely covered thatch of luxuriant hair. The real blame probably belongs to automobiles, though. Hats were knocked off when you entered a car and inevitably got squashed beneath a passenger's wayward behind or went into orbit when you lowered the top to a convertible.
Whatever the reason, there is no arguing with the facts of the hat's decline. In 1940, there were 180 independent major manufacturers of hats operating in the United States. Today there are 10. And while it is true that the headwear business is not altogether on the skids (retail sales of hats in the U.S. are estimated at $1.75 billion annually, roughly 40 percent of that figure being hats sold to men), it would be stretching things to say the future looks bright.
Or it would have been before the recent menswear shows in Paris and Milan.
Who knows what happened in Europe? Was it that the stingy-brim trilby, so popular in Williamsburg that no Halloween hipster costume would be complete without one, made it safe for men to experiment again with broader brims? Was it the influence of a fine museum show sponsored by the Borsalino Foundation at the Triennale in Milan demonstrating cinema's long love affair with the hat? Or was it, as Don Rongione — the president of the Bollman Hat Co., a Pennsylvania manufacturer founded in 1868 — said, that hat-friendly entertainers like Justin Timberlake, Usher and Neo have helped acquaint a generation of consumers with the idea that hats might be cool?
Anyone who has seen Douglas Keeve's 1995 documentary "Unzipped" knows better than to second-guess the telepathy that causes designers to arrive at the same idea at the same time. In that film, about Isaac Mizrahi, there was an inexplicable run on inspirations derived from the 1922 silent film "Nanook of the North."
"The stigma of looking like your father, or even your grandfather, if you wear a hat is gone," Rongione said. "A young person doesn't relate to a hat that way anymore."
Designers must certainly think so because the runway shows in Europe looked as if everyone had visited the same hatters' convention. At the Armani and Emporio Armani shows, the designers favored slouchy berets were replaced with a modernized rendition of the trilby: duotone, high-crowned and often with a pert midsize brim. At Etro, the hats had crowns so high they lent the models a resemblance to Rastafarians or coneheads.
At Dsquared, a latent Sergio Leone theme was suggested by the designer twins Dean and Dan Caten's deployment of broad-brimmed Stetsons in requisite bad-guy black. At Dai Fujiwara's show for Issey Miyake, the cocked hats with their midsize brims were pure James Cagney ("Made it, Ma! Top of the world!"), while at Massimiliano Giornetti's show for Ferragamo the slouch-brimmed Borsalinos in muted jewel tones seemed like a loving, although perhaps unintentional, homage to George Raft.
"For sure, we can say that hats are having a fashion moment," said Elisa Fulco, the curator of the Borsalino Foundation. "But filmmakers have always understood the power of the hat," added Fulco, who, together with the film critic Gianni Canova, viewed more than 1,000 films to find the 400 clips on view at "Cinema Wears a Hat," a show at the Milan Triennale museum through late March.
"There are funny hats, magical hats, eccentric hats, erotic hats, hats that are disturbing," Fulco said. "Hats are different from other articles of clothing because they are so close to your face; they create a strange link between your appearance and your interiority. Each time you put on a hat, you create an entirely different story."
Having exhausted the usual narratives of power and gender as expressed through clothing, and wary of runway stunts unlikely to produce much cash register action, designers may have merely been casting about for new tools and communally fell upon the hat. How else to explain the use of hats by designers as unalike as Angela Missoni and Thom Browne?
To her show of subdued knits that looked a lot like pj's, Missoni added flowerpot hats with brims pulled so low over the models' faces that it wasn't obvious how they knew which way to walk. For Thom Browne's show, a single hat became the signifying design gesture: Flat-crowned, the color of ground nutmeg, the modified boater made from feathers was a testament to Browne's affection for the fast-disappearing skills of artisans everywhere, in this case of the feather craftsmen known as plumassiers.
At the Roberto Cavalli presentation, which owed a lot to Jim Morrison in the guise of the Lizard King, a literal crowning touch was provided by Borsalinos with brims as broad as pizzas. At Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci outfitted his models in caps with looping flaps above the ears that made it seem as if you could hoist one like a six-pack. At Yohji Yamamoto, models came out wearing the steep-crowned brimmed hats that the designer himself has favored for years.
There were stunt toppers, of course, and hats that looked as if they'd been yanked from the bottom of the costume trunk, most predictably those at Galliano, where the heavily rouged models wore cartwheel-shaped fur trapper caps and turbans reminiscent of Madame, the Wayland Flowers marionette.
But the best uses of hats in a season that is far from over — the men's shows in New York begin next week — came at the Paris shows of Dior Homme and Lanvin. While Kris Van Assche, the Dior Homme designer, favored handsome but austere flat-brimmed hats right out of "Witness," Lucas Ossendrijver, who designs men's clothes for Lanvin, seemed to have fallen in love with the way a broad-brimmed Borsalino with a suggestively pinched crown instantly sexualized an ordinary two-button suit.
"The theory used to be that in difficult economic times, when a man couldn't afford to buy an overcoat and a suit, he would pick up his wardrobe with a hat," Rongione said. That's not what's happening now. Some of the hats on European runways would look perfectly fine on an Average Joe. (OK, an Average Joe who happens to hang out at the Smile or in the lobby of the Ace Hotel.)
"A regular guy could actually pull off some of these hats," Rongione added. "As opposed to something no one in his right mind would wear out of the house."

Models present creations by British designer John Galliano as part of his Spring/Summer 2011 women's collection during Paris Fashion Week on October 3, 2010.

Fashion followers around the planet are quivering with excitement over upcoming shows in New York, Paris and L.A., where models will walk the runway wearing feathers, fake furs and a galaxy of clothing that runs the gamut from the sublime to the absurd.
If you have ever wondered how clothing started, the University of Florida says it has found the origins of fashion far, far away in the mists of time.
According to new research from the school, a study of the evolution of lice shows modern humans first began wearing clothing about 170,000 years ago.
David Reed, associate curator of mammals at the Florida Museum of Natural History, on the UF campus, studies lice in modern humans to try to understand human evolution and how that translates into migration patterns. His latest study looked at how clothing lice first began to diverge from human head lice.
"We wanted to find another method for pinpointing when humans might have first started wearing clothing," Reed said in a news release. "Because they are so well adapted to clothing, we know that body lice or clothing lice almost certainly didn't exist until clothing came about in humans."
According to Reed's data, humans first put on shirts and such about 70,000 years before migrating out of Africa into colder climates. That trek northward began about 100,000 years ago.
That fur and leather number that Raquel Welch donned for One Million Years B.C., was way ahead of its time, according to the study which says the lice tell the true tale. Reed says the date of the first fashions would be virtually impossible to determine using archaeological data because early clothing would not survive in archaeological sites.
The study also shows humans started thinking about clothing long after they lost all that body hair they were sporting in the early days. What that means is that humans were hanging around naked for a considerable period of time until the Coco Chanel of the day came up with the equivalent of a pair of balloon pants and a halter top.
"It's interesting to think humans were able to survive in Africa for hundreds of thousands of years without clothing and without body hair, and that it wasn't until they had clothing that modern humans were then moving out of Africa into other parts of the world," Reed said.
He adds that lice are studied because they are on their hosts for long periods of evolutionary time. This icky relationship allows the scientists to learn about evolutionary changes to the host humans based on changes to the parasite.
"The . . . result from this lice study is an unexpectedly early date for clothing, much older than the earliest solid archaeological evidence, but it makes sense," said Ian Gilligan, a lecturer in the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University. "It means modern humans probably started wearing clothes on a regular basis to keep warm when they were first exposed to Ice Age conditions," Gilligan said.
The last Ice Age occurred about 120,000 years ago, Gilligan said, but the study's date suggests humans started wearing clothes in the preceding Ice Age 180,000 years ago.
So, the next time you are looking at a cashmere sweater on the runway in New York, or a space age wrap on the catwalk in Paris, you can thank your ancestors from way back when who first figured out it might be better to cover up a few of the fleshy parts or lose them to frostbite.

But somewhere en route she had ditched the floaty cream top for an off-white cardigan.
After stopping in on MTV it was back to the hotel once more to get ready for an appearance on The One Show.
And this time she emerged wearing a sexy asymmetrical red dress and patent nude heels - with her lucky number 13 branded on her hand again - for her chat with Alex Jones and Matt Baker.
Taylor said: 'Oh my God, I was terrified. I'm from Pennsylvania, so I think I was really nervous because I knew all my classmates were watching.
'I was obviously so terrified but it's funny to look back and think that is actually 10 years ago now. Wow!'
CBS) Your kids either love back-to-school shopping or they hate it. Either way, "Early Show" Contributor Katrina Szish has the styles and trends you just can't miss this fall.

Szish says the main thing parents should keep in mind is that back-to-school isn't how you remember it.

"It's not prim and proper," she said. "We're not all tucked in, wearing Peter Pan collars. It's a lot more casual. Back-to-school has become more relaxed and casual and kids are doing a lot more to express their personal style."

This fall, Szish says on both boys and on girls, you're going to be seeing tons of layering. And then very fun accessories that bring everything to life.

Szish shared these looks on "The Early Show":

TRENDY/FASHIONISTAS
So, this is the trendy group. They all kind of have an edgy look, a rocker look.

Mel:
Leather's in. The first thing you notice about Mel (age 5) is this adorable motorcycle jacket (GUESS $65). Leather is very in. Even for young ages. We've paired it with another hot trend, the modified acid wash jeans (Children's Place, $30).

Christopher:
He's definitely going for a rocker look, but in a toned down way. There's this guitar-themed graphic shirt (Gymboree $25), which is a traditional button down but then is made "edgy" by adding graphic prints. And we love this graphic Vest (Children's Place $20). He's pairing it with Mini Boden skinny dark denim Jeans ($36).

Danielle is a full-on "Material Girl." Most of her outfit is by Madonna's daughter Lourdes, her line made specifically for Macy's. She's wearing a studded mini-skirt by Material Girl, $68, (anything embellished and plaid is hot right now) and a plaid jacket by Material Girl, $36, leather boots, $100, Olsenboye by Olsen Twins at JC Penney.

Nick:
Layering is key here. He's wearing a tee-shirt then another shirt then a cardigan. Of course, he tops it all off with the season's ultimate trendy item, the Fedora (Bongo $10 at K-Mart). I also love the Onestar Laceless Oxfords he has on (Converse from Target $25) because it shows you can still be comfortable and trendy.

BASIC/KIDS WHO DON'T CARE
Alexandra:
She's totally working the preppy trend and it looks adorable. We have her in a plaid dress (remember, plaid is SO in this season) by Ralph Lauren ($50). And then when it gets cooler, you can pair it with a super-cute Trench Coat, (Janie and Jack $59)

Phillip:
Puffer Vest, Gymboree ($33). Khaki Cargo Pants, Route 66 ($18).

Jarah:
I think the key to her outfit is that for someone that says they don't care, it's still possible to incorporate small bits of big trends. Military-inspired fashions are huge this season, so we have her in a chic but comfortable cardigan by Zara ($40). And then, although she may never wear a leopard dress or coat, she's accessorizing stylishly with this leopard print scarf ($13 at Old Navy). It really updates a rather basic outfit and she looks awesome.

UNIFORMS
Eboni:
Just because you have to wear a uniform doesn't mean you can't look amazing. Take Eboni, for example. We chose this great skirt by Johnnie B, but she could be wearing any school's skirt and shirt, because what we did was we updated her outfit with accessories.

We made it of the moment, almost like Gossip Girl style. She's wearing a Bow Belt (Zara $20) and a fantastic head band ($8 at Target). You can also update your look with things like handbags and shoes.
Bag (H&M $25). Kelsi Dagger from Endless.com ($99).

Sean:
And then for younger kids, like Sean, it's all about adding an unexpected pop of color. He looks great in this orange Hooded Sweatshirt from Old Navy ($17) and I just have to point out these Cole Haan shoes, that are so smart, and also so comfortable because Cole Haan makes a lot of their shoes using Nike Air technology ($64).

Baker Valentyn Shtefano and his bride Viktoriya show off her wedding gown, which Shtefano made out of flour, eggs, sugar and caramel in the western Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod. The edible dress, made of 1,500 cream puffs and weighing in at 20 pounds (9 kilograms), took the 28-year-old baker two months to make
UZHHOROD, Ukraine -- Valentyn Shtefano's pastries were known for attracting stares and giggles as well as lip-smacking murmurs. But even his fiancee was surprised when Shtefano told her he was making her wedding dress -- out of flour, eggs, sugar and caramel.
The dress -- made of 1,500 cream puffs and weighing 20 pounds -- took the 28-year-old baker two months to make, and by the end of the wedding reception, bride Viktoriya said she didn't want to take it off.
Shtefano is a rising star in the field of baking as visual art, earning him a following in this city near the border with Slovakia. His creations have generated a buzz in a place where cake is often layers of heavy cream, wafers and nuts or poppy seeds -- more something to eat than to look at.
"At first glance, it's really a surprise. I didn't even believe it was a cake," said Olha Nemyataya, who sampled some of Shtefano's new deserts. "Nowhere in Uzhhorod have I seen things like this."
Shtefano, whose fingernails are stained with food coloring, is eager to introduce new sweets to this city of 125,000, which has a center full of new businesses and cafes but is otherwise dominated by gray Soviet-era apartment buildings.
He got his first job as a baker six years ago. Last year, he took a three-month baking course in Paris and entered an international baking competition with his sister. They made a 2-foot-long 1920s-era Cadillac from cream puffs and caramel, and took third place.
Some of Shtefano's cakes are strictly for mature audiences, like a pair of breasts on display at a pizzeria where his goods are sold. But he also created an elaborate Easter cake that drew hundreds to a cathedral. It was a black and gold globe hatching from an Easter egg, with pieces of eggshell on top of the globe and falling off to the side. It was too pretty to eat.
His biggest challenge was the wedding dress cake. At first, he sewed empty cream puffs together, but the dress collapsed. Then, he carefully attached the puffs to a wedding dress frame, and Viktoriya spent a couple hours each night before the wedding modeling the dress as Shtefano added more puffs. Her crown, bouquet and necklace were made from caramelized sugar.
"At first, it was even a little embarrassing," Viktoriya Shtefano said of the dress she wore to the couple's reception in August at Uzhhorod's 1,200-year-old castle. "Cameras, interviews, but after a couple of hours, I didn't even want to take it off."
The baker hopes to someday open a business with his sister in Ukraine, believing there's more room for skillful bakers here than in Paris. "Here you can buy jobs," he said. "You want to be president, governor, (parliament) deputy, OK.
"But my job you can't buy -- you have to do it."

New York comes to Sydney this July for an exclusive Bridal Gala

Amsale: Amsale Aberra's career as a couture bridal and eveningwear designer happened by necessity. While planning her 1985 nuptials to film executive Neil Brown, Amsale scoured the stores to find a simple, refined wedding dress. She found little in the way of clean, sophisticated gowns, and discovered an untapped niche in the bridal market-elegant and understated dresses.

"Everything was so overdone and with too much ornamentation," says Amsale, who was sure that her taste in gowns was shared by many other brides-to-be. Amsale placed a classified advertisement for custom-made gowns for other brides-to-be who shared her taste in sophisticated, understated designs. And so, with a few responses, a sketchpad full of designs, and a small team of couture sewers, Amsale started her business out of her New York City loft apartment. Since then, the name AMSALE (pronounced Ahm-sah'-leh) has become synonymous with the "forever modern" wedding dress. Her collections are designed for brides who desire a fashionable, sophisticated and timeless look. Amsale believes: "Twenty years after the wedding, I want a bride to be able to look at her pictures and be as happy with the way she looked as she was on her wedding day."
Maria Aragon — the 10-year-old Winnipeg girl whose cover of Lady Gaga earned millions of views on the popular video-sharing site — is in Los Angeles shooting a commercial for Ralph Lauren.
"They're there until Saturday," said Rojuane Aragon, Maria's older sister, when reached by phone in Winnipeg.
Rojuane wasn't sure on the specifics, but said she believes Maria is involved in a magazine shoot with some other children for the fashion label.
Maria travelled to L.A. with her oldest sister, Linger.
The young singer shot to fame last month after online praise from Gaga earned her a whirlwind of media attention.
Aragon's cover of the pop queen's hit "Born This Way" has been viewed more than 25 million times and her story received international coverage, resulting in a duet with Gaga at her Toronto concert and an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' Los Angeles-based talk show.
Rojuane said her sister has had some interest from the music industry, but no decisions have been made yet.
When the young singer gets back to Winnipeg on Saturday, it'll be just in time for spring break.
But there won't be any interviews on the agenda: "She just wants to relax," said Rojuane.
