In a bizarre ritual in the Mahalaxmi temple of Karur, India (Tamil Nadu State), devotees are lining up to have coconuts broken on their heads.  The devotees believe that they are seeking divine intervention by doing this and will benefit in their personal lives. All I can see happening here is people ending up with broken skulls and bones.  In the following video , you can see that the priest goes on a coconut breaking frenzy on the heads of devotees. An Obama poster showing the president of the United States as a joker (Heath Ledger-style) with the word ‘Socialism’ at the bottom of the poster is popping up in some place in Los Angeles. No one knows who is putting up these posters or what their real motive is. There are no signs or names on the back end of the poster.

This is what the Bedlam magazine has to say about these Obama joker posters:

This clearly appears to be a political statement (albeit a confused one) — a sort of negative version of artist Ron English’s Lincoln/Obama poster.  But is it serious?  We’d like to know who the artist is and whether this is the sort of provocative guerilla public art that is intended to encourage people to think (although about what, we’re not sure).

We suspect not.  The Joker white-face imposed on Obama’s visage has a sort of malicious, racist, Jim Crow quailty to it that prompts us to ask, as Stepehen Colbert puts it, “vomit, come on up.”

Congress has approved another two billion dollars for the Cash For Clunkers program this morning. The program was about to be suspended by the White House as almost all the one billion dollars initially approved were said to have been used up in week one. The House of Representatives voted 316-109 that added two billion dollars to the program’s kitty. President Obama was in favor of adding more money to the program that will hopefully take out about 750,000 gas guzzlers off the road and bring in more fuel efficient cars. The program is already proving to be a blessing in disguise as dealers across the country are reporting huge consumer interest in it. Dealerships across the country were running scared this morning when news about the program being suspended was reported in the media. The approval of more money for the Cash For Clunkers program should help settle more nerves in the auto industry. Will congress and the president add more money (to the existing $3 billion) to this program if it proves to be a great success? It remains to be seen if there will be a political will to throw more money at this program.

The Cars.gov website that was setup by the Obama administration is said to have faced problems with heavy traffic. The website helps set up processing of rebates for consumers using the Cash For Clunkers program. Cars.gov and FuelEconomy.gov are the two official sites that provide complete information about the Cash For Clunkers program. FuelEconomy.gov helps consumers make sure that their trade-in vehicle’s combined city and highway fuel economy is above 18 miles per gallon. FuelEconomy.gov also provides a complete of cars makes and models that will qualify under the program for a trade-in and $4,500 rebate.

Amazon.com has been charging a dollar to the credit cards of many consumers who have bought on it’s website. This charge is probably being charged to your credit card by Amazon as part of their credit card fraud check. A charge of one dollar is usually placed on credit cards so that the CVV2 (Card Verification Value) and AVS (Address Verification System) of that credit card can be checked. Usually this is done so that a large amount is not put on hold on the user’s credit card. Incase the card fails the credit card fraud check, only one dollar of the customer’s credit funds is placed on hold instead of the entire amount that needs to be charged for good purchased.
