This workshop is for C-level executives of midmarket medtech and biotech companies seeking to fund their international expansion, or to identify JV and M&A options overseas. Expanding a company’s reach beyond its home country offers enormous business potential but is generally a complicated endeavor. During this workshop, selected investors, professionals and executives will share their experience in managing the challenges of international expansion.

A one-day forum on the international expansion of SMEs
Provence Promotion will be back on the East Coast on June 13 next alongside its partner Triana for a workshop focusing on the biotechnology and medical technology sectors. This day-long event will have as its theme the international expansion of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the attractiveness of the Provence region to companies in these sectors.

Two companies that received local set-up assistance from Provence Promotion, Oran Diagnostics and DoseWatch, have been invited to talk about their experiences at a round table.

The first of these companies markets innovative diagnostic tests, while the second has developed “intelligent” packaging for medicines that can gauge a patient’s acceptance of a medical treatment.

Over the two-hour round table, representatives from the two companies will be presenting the regulatory and tax advantages France has to offer and the opportunities made available by the Provence Region for businesses in the life sciences sector either starting up or undertaking product development.

The investment partnership between Provence Promotion and Viveris Management for its part will be highlighting financial solutions for venture capital and development capital needs.

The event will also be an opportunity for Matthieu Vis, the life sciences project head at Provence Promotion, to present to sector professionals the advantages of France’s research tax credit (CIR) and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region’s “Fonds PACA Investissement” financial scheme, which has undertaken a number of successful fund-raising campaigns since its inception in December 2009.

South Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine (SFIRM) and our client AndroJek help infertile couples become pregnant and stay pregnant.

Infertility affects 15% of all couples in the US (an estimated 9 million)

In infertile couples, up to 60% of the problem is due to male factors

Dr. Scott Roseff, MD, FACOG (boardcertified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility) recently joined the growing South Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine (SFIRM). Dr. Roseff is excited to bring his expertise and more than two decades of successfully serving infertile patients to the practice.

“I joined SFIRM because they offer a breadth of services and a backbone of medical experts resulting in superior pregnancy rates,” Dr. Roseff said. “We are now able to offer more options to my patients with everything taking place under one roof. As a result, I can provide my patients highly personalized attention; with SFIRM, it is totally about the patient. I am fortunate to bring AndroJek’s diagnostic paradigm with me, allowing me to continue taking the evaluation of male factor infertility to a level well above and beyond the norm.”

Why AndroJek?… Becoming Pregnant and Staying Pregnant

Dr. Roseff said he became an AndroJek client because “I am a big believer” in the science behind, and the utility of AndroJek founder, Dr. David Brown’s, Male Reproductive Health (MRHSM) panel.

“Over the years, I have collaborated with Dr. Brown on many projects which convinced me of the value of his male infertility tests,” Dr. Roseff said. “I have been a client of his since the 1990s. Many patients who failed to deliver a baby via other fertility specialists came to me for rapid success and often asked why other doctors didn’t offer this type of testing.

“The difference is that most doctors look at sperm on the outside, while AndroJek’s MRHSM panel looks at what sperm does on the inside,” Dr. Roseff explained. “Specifically, our evaluation determines if the sperm DNA is structured and is functioning normally. Over the years, my patients and I discovered that the insight gleaned from the results of the MRH panel helped them to both become pregnant and stay pregnant* Indeed, at the end of the day, my goal is to have them walk away with a baby!”

*One component of AndroJek’s proprietary test is the Sperm DNA Decondensation (SDD) test which accurately assesses the level of DNA decondensation compared to a normal fertile male. In the sequence of events following the penetration of a sperm into an egg, DNA must decondense properly. It’s like unzipping a computer file so the program can run. This is a prerequisite for DNA synthesis and proper fertilization. In one study of men with unexplained infertility, almost 22% failed the SDD test. All of the sperm samples that failed the SDD test were then used in an IVF cycle, and none produced a pregnancy that progressed beyond the first trimester.

If you work in the pharmaceutical industry and are tired of only creating advertising that comes with a full page of disclaimer copy to accompany the pretty old people photo, IQ Points has the solution.

Many pharma brands have been hesitant to embrace social media because of the legal requirements or their fear of the unknown. And The FDA has not yet figured out guidelines for social media, which is also affecting brands’ desire to go there.

“In partnership with Jonathan Richman, iQ has utilized the Dose of Digital Social Media Wiki to create a mosaic of the social media profiles of each pharma brand participating in the 265 active campaigns to date in 2011.

But also, it will help a doctor who is in a separate room in the hospital, communication can take place as though it was face-to-face. The HOSPI-Rimo also does more than a video call style application, as it can deliver medication automatically, so chances are we’ll be seeing this in hospitals far more than in homes throughout Japan and maybe soon in America.

No information for now about the price of the HOSPI-Rimo.

According to IBM: “While healthcare organizations are amassing vast amounts of data, multiple versions of the truth producing errors in hospital, patient care and payment processes. Physicians have been on information overload for decades, contributing to the estimated 15% of diagnoses that are inaccurate or incomplete (Harvard Business Review, April, 2010). We don’t understand why medicine works for one patient but not another. And growing shortages of nurses and medical specialists put more strain on broken systems.”
