The Indonesian province of Irian Jaya has been given a set of unprecedented autonomy measures, which officially came into effect on 1 January 2002.

Under the measures, the province takes much greater control of its own affairs, excluding only defence, foreign affairs, monetary affairs, the police and the courts.

This is the first page of Tribal Democracy Web blog being prepared by Koteka Tribal Assembly in West Papua. The purpose of this blog is to gather inputs from around the world on the ideas being proposed here.

About seven books are being drafted. The Introduction for the whole idea: TRIBAL DEMOCRACY: An Introduction, is to be published by early January 2007.

However, we do not have sufficient financial resources to do so. Therefore, we are asking for your kind support to finalise this work.
