Man, the last few months have pretty busy within the Leather community. A lot of events throughout California. Next month marks one of the first months that there hasn't been something going on at the same time as one of our socials.

Our August social will be at a new location. Bourbon Street Bar and Grill will be our host bar. Join us Saturday August 6th at 3pm. We have the upstairs room all to ourselves. There will be free pool, balcony to hang out on and smoke, 1/2 price pitchers of beer and 1/2 price Smirnoff drinks. They also will have food specials off their food menu.

I'm pretty excited about the new location and date. Having the event on a Saturday will allow more people to come out and enjoy a smoke.

I will have cigars available if you don't have your own. And as always, if you don't smoke, join us anyway there will be plenty of people not smoking. People come out to this event because it is a chill environment, good people and no pressure. Pipes and cigars are always welcome.

I remember my first cigar, it wasn't anything like the video, but it was hot in it's own way. It's amazing how something so simple can have an erotic feel to it. Now, don't get me wrong, there's also this leisure enjoyment that I get out of it.

You hear people talking about certain pairings. Cigar and scotch, wine and cheese, a good steak and nice glass of wine. Sometimes these things are just full of shit, people going along with the flow, then there are the ones that will forever be paired together and appreciated.

Cigar and scotch is one of those. There are few combinations that really do pair together like these two. For me it just breeds masculinity. It forces one to just slow down and enjoy the moment. Now, having the wicked mind that I do I could easily add to it; maybe through in a hot man who's into boot worship. Something more mild could be watching a jazz performance in the park, or just chill'n in your backyard.

Another good pairing is cigar and beer. You have to be careful, go to bland with a beer and it just leaves a bad combination on your mouth, go to strong and the hops will overtake your buds and ruin the taste from the cigar. Regardless of which way you do, if you like the cigars you really need to take time out and enjoy the experience every now and then.

Each month the San Diego Leather family has a Cigar and Boots event. We've gotten off to a great start due to Papa Tony and all the loyal friends and family here in San Diego. If you haven't been to one, make it a point to try and attend one of the events. There's always a good mix of people, a fun crowd and a really positive vibe. It's great for newcomers also. You'll leave knowing at least one new person if not many more.

It's Getting There..

So, the last few weeks have been really good in San Diego in terms of events. When I first moved here, I used to hear people say that San Diego didn't really have a Leather community and I agreed. However, I came to realize that there really was an active community here; it was just underground and segmented. Over time things started to change and take shape in an organic way. Now I see more weekly and one-time events taking place. That's what I think we need. We need those multiple events throughout the month, not just one or two regular events or casual happenings and hit or miss nights. There will always be schedule conflicts, work commitments and other things that will prevent us from attending certain events. However, if we have multiple events through out the month then it gives more opportunities for people to get out and attend events and ultimately meet others.
